The Tree Trimmer

Because of the big storm I knew he was extremely busy and did not expect that he would be able to do the job quickly. But due to the potential problem these trees posed we was able to get the job done within a couple weeks after a couple followup phone calls. Due to the volume of work I believe he subcontracted the job to another company. Initially I was concerned that the job would not be done as well as previous work by Jim's crew. However, they did a great job. Jim also called that evening to follow up to make sure that everything was done to our satisfaction.

I could not be more pleased with the professional attitude and the attention to detail of Mr. Lewis. He did a great job listening to me and gave me a very fair price for just what I wanted. The crew was able to get to my job sooner than I anticipated even in the midst of a very busy time. They trimmed the limbs out of the lines without destroying the shape of my beloved tree, cleaned up the downed limb and left my property cleaner than when they arrived. I am sure that I will be using them again and I highly recommend their service.

The service was fantastic. Jim Lewis came promptly and gave us a quote, and was able to do the work within two days. All limbs and debris were removed as promised, and no damage done. The quote included removing the stumps as well.

Jim and his crew came in and removed several uprooted and damaged trees, including some high limbs (~25' overhead) that became entangled in other tree tops. Jim had an experienced crew and sufficient equipment to complete the job in an efficient and professional manner. Additionally, Jim's crew cleaned up all of the debris, including small limbs and leaves that were around. I couldn't be more pleased with his service. The Tree Trimmer would be the first one I would call again if needed.

I purchased a deal on Angie's List in early May with the Tree Trimmer. I was hesitant to front money, but he had really good reviews. I sent a scheduling email through Angie's List. Several days later, I had to call him because I got no response to my email. He answered right away and was very friendly and courteous, and came out to give an estimate and tour the yard right away in mid-May. However, he did not do the work (and still has not as of the date of this review) when promised. First he was going to come in early June. No show, no call. Then I called in late June to follow up and was told he was coming the first week in July. No show, no call. Then I called again on July 9 and he said was going to call and come out in the middle of July. Well, it's now almost the end of July and no call, no show. I have pre-paid $250 for $400 of work (the overall job is estimated to be about $1450). There was a big storm about 2 weeks ago, and I am sure he has been busy, but I had to clean up my tree damage myself after that event though I called him the day after. He said he was really busy. As of the date of this review, he still hasn't called to schedule the work or done the work. He has not called me once affirmatively to schedule or apologize or anything, except for a butt-dial when he called me in June by accident. I am disappointed, especially since he already has some of my money through Angie's List and, if the work had been done on time, I doubt I would have had as much cleanup after the recent storm. If he follows through (eventually), or refunds the money, I will update my review based on that experience. But I don't have time to chase after someone, especially when he has been paid (partially) to do a job, has promised to do it, and has failed to call, to schedule the work, or to follow through in any way. Argh. UPDATE: After posting this (originally) negative review, the owner called me and gave me a discount on the work. He came out in a week and completed the work. He was very responsive and apologetic. He did a very good job and I'm pleased with his work. I'm very impressed that he contacted me and made this right.

It went great! I got the estimate one evening and they were ready to do the work the next day, which is excellent considering all the storm damage we had in this area. These guys work hard and steadily for about six and one half hours. They did everything I requested and went above and beyond by taking one pine down for no charge and took the apple tree for little extra cost. This was a big job and the clean up made my yard look like nothing has ever been done - not a stick or leaf was left on the ground. It looks great. There are some scar marks in the grass, but that's not their fault. It is so dry here that most of the grass is dead and came up with very little pressure. All in all they did a fantastic job! I could not have asked for better service. I called Jim Lewis, the owner, expecting to get an answering machine but he answered immediately. He was on another job, as there were many trees down in the area, but said he would come by as soon as he finished the job he was doing. He came when he said he would and gave me what I considered to be a reasonable quote. I asked him when he could do it and he said he would be here the next morning. When they pulled up the next morning, it was easy to see that they knew what they were doing. He had a full crew with all of the needed equipment. They got right to work and did an amazing job. I'm not the type to hover over workers when I hire them, but they were fascinating to watch. They were very professional and well coordinated. The tree was removed and hauled away, the stump ground and the place cleaned spotless in about two and a half hours. He actually even ground a couple of smaller stumps from trees that the cherry had taken down with it at no extra charge. I felt even better about the price I paid after seeing the job they did. I highly recommend Jim and his crew.

Great! Jim came out to give an estimate on Tuesday, he and his men came out on Thursday, and the work was completed in 1-1/2 hours. They work as a team, like clockwork, are professional and courteous.

I could not be happier with the service from Jim Lewis and his 4-man crew. Jim came out to give me an estimate the day after I called and did the work the next day after the estimate. He and his crew showed up as scheduled and were professional, skillful, and friendly. Even though the ivy and wisteria removal turned out to be more time-consuming than imagined, the cost remained the same. The crew were diligent to not harm my many flower pots and garden beds, and they cleaned up after themselves quite well. While my yard is not huge, it has many mature trees, shrubs, and hedges. I hope to use The Tree Trimmer on a yearly basis to keep everything looking as nice as it does right now, before it gets really crazy, especially the wisteria.

The Tree Trimmer was punctual in arriving for both providing an estimate and doing the work. We had one large stump (~20" diameter) and two smaller stumps to be removed from our yard. They grinded all of them into fine wood chips and left everything very neat. I would definitely use them again for any tree service work.

I called Tree Trimmers last fall and they came right out same day and gave me an estimate. The dead tree was on the property line and did not belong to me. It took me three weeks to secure permission from owner to cut the tree. The owner refused to cut the tree and I was concerned that it could fall on our house. They did give me permission to cut the tree. I called Tree Trimmer back and they said they were extremely busy and would let me know when they could to the work. When I did not hear from them I called them back and they said they could possible come the next week. When I did not hear form them I called again and they said they were very busy due to the storms and rain. They said they would come as soon as they could and would let me know. When I did not hear from them I called again. They promised to come as soon as they could as they were still very busy. They finally did come and did a great job leaving everything clean and neat. Even though it took 5 months to get the job done, I am very pleased with the work. I do feel like they must have took other jobs putting me on the back burner. I would use them again if it were not an emergency or something that could not wait.

I researched The Tree Trimmer on Angie’s list, reading all the reviews for this company as well as other business’s performing tree removal and similar work. Also called all ads in the Johnson City paper and asked for a quote for price comparison and to also interview the company’s representative. There were a total of 10 companies that I vetted. Each company was given the same criteria for the work to be performed – removal of tall pine trees with stump and root grinding. I wanted each quote to be based on the same expectations and requirements. Some quotes were higher and some were lower. Based on all factors, I chose “The Tree Trimmer”. Work Performance: The job was started and completed in one day, as scheduled, and to my total satisfaction. It was truly amazing to watch Jim and his crew work. I was impressed with the way each team member interacted. Each one had a task and worked to insure as the trees came down they had each other’s back. Safety was the most important factor in getting the limbs down as well as the sections of the trunk. Not one limb or trunk section crossed or was placed over the property line. During the work if I had questions they were answered. Stump grinding, root grinding and clean up was excellent. I highly recommend The Tree Trimmer. Their performance and professionalism is superb. For my next project, I will call The Tree Trimmer.

I must say up front that I am submitting this review a year and a half after the actual service was performed and I feel awful about that. The Tree Trimmer's excellent work deserved a more prompt review and I failed to make that happen. My wife and I just had our first baby shortly before The Tree Trimmer service was performed and, unfortunately, when our child was born he spent 3 months in the NICU in another state and had a year's worth of follow-up appointments on top of that. With the above said, I think it is a testament to the great job that The Tree Trimmer crew did that I still remember their work, how prompt and professional they were, and the fact that they finished the job up while it was raining. I know for a fact that a lot of crews would have cut corners due to the unexpected weather that happened. However, the Tree Trimmer crew made sure that they stayed until the job was completed and made sure it was done right. Meeting with Jim for an estimate was a pleasure. He arrived exactly when he said he would and took the time to explain things and make sure I understood everything that would be done as this was my first experience having tree trimming done. I want to make sure that I point out that I never felt that Jim or his crew tried to take advantage of me with their price or work quality because I did not know much about tree care. In fact, I got the impression that they did the exact opposite. They seemed to go out of their way to make sure that I was completely satisfied with everything because I didn't know much about tree trimming. The crew arrived exactly when they were supposed to, worked the whole time they were on our property, and cleaned up very well when the job was finished. I will definitely be using the Tree Trimmer again as I have several large trees on my property that need periodic care.

The work that they do is very good .They take pride in their work and it shows. My yard looks great now that they cut some trees and removed stumps. I would recommend them to any one that needs trees cut and stumps removed. This is a great company.

The price included a $200.00 discount special. I was very pleased by the work and the professionalism. I would definitely recommend their work. The crew included 5 guys and they chipped all the limbs, cleaned all debris and left the area cleaner than they found it. Good job guys.

Great they were very professional and friendly during the who process and put our mind at ease in cutting down those limbs that was badly rotten threaten our cars in the driveway and our neighbors home which I was surprise how quickly they were able to make the tree in our yard safe and they were very careful were they had to drop the many limbs in the tree away from our shed and fence were right below the tree and when in came to cleaning up the area we were very impress especially in our neighbors yard very great at cleaning up the areas will use them again in the future.

Scott and his crew showed up on time. The rainy weather caused some delays out of there control and they had to wait so the ground wouldn't be two wet for there equipment. They accessed the hazardous trees with a bucket truck and safely brought them down in smaller pieces with ropes. They were able to bring down the much larger trees that were just a few feet from several smaller trees without damaging the smaller trees. They were here fora bit less than two days. I purchased a big deal through Angieslist and we negotiated the additional costs above the deal before any work commenced. This was because it was not possible to complete the work during the amount of time purchased in the deal. They also brought a larger crew than was offered in the deal, and based on the complexity of the work that had to be done, the size of the trees, and proximity to two houses of the work area I am extremely satisfied and can recommend them. I plan to call them when I'm ready to have the stumps ground and will refer them to friends.

This company was great. They came out and gave me a free quote the same day I called. We thought we were going to have to have some big branches cut down and pay quite a bit. He was honest with us though and told us all we needed was a brace, and it saved us a lot of money. They did a great job and were easy to work with. We will definitely use them again.

I was impressed within 30 mins of them starting the job. His employees looked like very qualified people. They were polite and professional. These employees had all the safety gear on and continued to wear it. It looked like the owner had safety proceedures in place to protect our property and his employees. I was impressed with the safety within 30 mins. They wore the gear start to finish. He did an excellent job to make sure the job was done right. All through the process he checked in to see if we saw any issues. We did not. There will be some dings and bumps to any yard taking out 80 to 100 ft trees. The trees were almost against the house. He did everything in his power to fix any bumps or lumps. Just when I thought customer service was dead. We found him on Angie's list! We live in a very wooded subdivision between Cherokee RD and Buffalo MTN. I know we will use him again. He had the job done in 2 days and everything put back like it was.

Jim Lewis and his crew showed up this morning with all their equipment as promised. It did not take them very long; a few hours, to get all this work done. Although fast, they were very courteous, neat and left the property very clean. Jim came to our door before trimming the tree to make sure he trimmed it exactly as we wanted it. You must see his tree stump grinder at work. It is an amazing piece of equipment! I would definitely recommend Jim and his company to anyone looking for a great job at a fair price.
