The Tree Trimmer

We recently moved into the house. Jim came out to provide a free estimate for the trees we needed removed. There were a number of trees that were dead or dying so Jim agreed to take down all of the trees along the property line. Jim and his crew arrived early and worked all day. They took down several large trees 3-5 feet in diameter without any significant damage. They also cleaned up some old barbed wine they found hidden in the brush. My neighbor saw Jim working and asked if he could grind some stumps in his yard as well. I have several other trees that need removing and will be asking Jim to come back and take care of those. Removing the dead and dying trees will allow me to plant new healthy trees in my landscape.

Jim and company were excellent. I contacted him on a Friday afternoon. On Saturday he came by to provide an estimate. By Tuesday afternoon the work was completed. They cleared away all debris and cut and stacked the wood neatly for my future enjoyment around the fire pit. The trees look great. His price was reasonable. I have no complaints and recommend the Tree Trimmer without hesitation.

He did a great job and saved me a lot of money. He did the job quickly and I was highly impressed. I would recommend him to anybody else.

His crew was nice, polite and respectful. One of the guys, while waiting for a tree to fall, was cleaning up extra stuff in the yard and asked if I wanted some brush taken out, along with a couple small trees trying to grow where they weren't wanted. We were so impressed by the job, I have already sent him 4 people.

I spoke with the owner, Jim when he personally came to our house to give us a free estimate. He was very forthcoming and honest about what he and his team could and could not do for us. We appreciate the honesty and his willingness to recommend someone else if he could not do the job. Jim and his crew were very punctual and made sure the job we requested of them was done properly and efficiently. The team worked from early morning to evening and did not stop until the job was done. They were very careful to be mindful of our yard so as not to leave ruts and bald spots. Jim did not accept payment until the job was finished. They did a fine job and I would recommend them to my friends and family.

Jim Lewis, the owner, came the day after I called .He surveyed the scene and made recommendations as to what he would do. We agreed on a price and, because of a cancellation, work started the next day. Having spent three days with Jim ( two of my next door neighbors were so impressed that they hired him after he finished my job) I can attest that he is a person of integrity with a conscience to match. Not only must the customer be happy and satisfied with the work; so must Jim. And he will go the extra mile if necessary to make it so. Jim is a hands on worker, a gregarious individual, always present to oversee and to spend the time one desires to explain what is happening. I enjoyed meeting and conversing with him. His fellow workers are hard working, efficient, respectful and polite. The end result was a transformation to my property I could not have imagined. He was also asked to remove a dead tree and some storm damaged limbs at my daughter's home nearby. This was done to her satisfaction.

We called in the morning, someone came out that afternoon, we agreed upon a price and he started the same day. They removed a 40 foot maple, dropping it cleanly between my deck and a dog run fence. I decided to remove a couple of Bradford pear trees, which they did the next day. They also ground the stumps on all three trees. I asked them to trim a pin oak tree in the front yard, which they did. They worked till 9pm that night to finish the job, including raking all the leaves dropped in the process and cleaning the driveway of debris. I was majorly impressed with the speed, quality and fairness of the pricing. I plan to use them again later in the year and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs this kind of work.

They did the job when the agreed and cleaned up the mess. Very nice and easy to work with.

The first time, Jim and his crew quickly cut up and removed the bottom one third of a tree that had fallen on my home. The second time, I had a tree on the outside of a hairpin turn on a steep driveway that was leaning more and more toward the driveway and the power line. Jim came and looked at it and said, "It's a difficult job, but we can do it". Because of where it was on my property, the tree needed to be cut in sections and lowered to the ground with ropes -- one piece at a time from the top down. This was not a small tree! Long story short, the tree was taken down safely, with no damage to my driveway, the nearby power line or surrounding vegetation. Last but not least, 1/2 of a huge old oak tree in my backyard fell on a Saturday morning into my yard and on into the neighbor's backyard as well. Jim came to look at the situation the next evening, and proposed to cut up the fallen part of the tree and to fell the still standing other half. They started the following morning, and due to the size of the tree and it's placement on a hill overlooking my home, it took all day to bring it down. Once it was out of the way, it was evident that the huge oak tree growing next to it was also poised to possibly fall on my home, so that one was cut down, too. Safety is definitely a priority in this business, and it was emphasized every step of the way in this process. Jim and his workers efficiently planned the job step-by-step and did all the work safely. I had room at the back of my yard to stack the wood that had been cut and this was accomplished neatly -- no mess left behind in all 3 encounters. I hope that I don't have to have any more trees cut down, but if I do, I'll call The Tree Trimmer. I have already recommended them to several local friends.

We contacted The Tree Trimmer after reading rave reviews on Angie's list. Jim, the owner of The Tree Trimmer, arrived promptly to review the job and provided a bid of $3800 to perform the work described above. Jim also made us aware of a 5% discount coupon that was available through Angie's list and offered to give us 5% off the initial bid which was already very reasonable. Approximately 2 weeks later Jim and his crew arrived to perform the work. The largest tree was over 110 feet high and once the job started it was discovered that the tree had been struck by lightning and had rotted to the point it could not be climbed and cut down safely in stages. The job was made far more difficult by the terrain which was very steep. The steep slope made it inaccessible by lift alone and it soon became obvious that the only solution to safely remove the tree would require rental of a crane. The crane was a totally unforeseen expense and Jim asked that we pay for the crane and he would still only charge us the originally bid $3800. We agreed, so Jim and his crew took care of the 3 other trees and promised to return in a couple of days when Jim had arranged for the crane to be delivered early in the morning. Unfortunately, the crane company did not show up at 8:00 a.m. as scheduled, but arrived close to 1:00 p.m.. Jim's crew had been called in to start in the morning so he incurred costs for idle time that morning. Nevertheless, the job got started at 1:00 p.m. and was completed by 7:30. A monster tree was removed which was a danger to life and property, no one was hurt in the process and the clean up looked great. I was happy to forego the 5% discount and include an extra $200 to help defray some of the idle time costs. Jim had the foresight to leave one of the stumps of the smaller trees sticking up about 5 feet so he could stack the firewood lengths against it to keep them from rolling down the hill. Once we get those all up, we'll give him a call and I have no doubt he'll be as prompt to finish cutting that to the ground as he was to get everything else done. Jim and his crew did a great job. My wife took some video of the job and my only regret is I didn't get to meet Ralph in person. He's amazing! Brandon, Dave, the other fellows I didn't get to meet were first class. Despite running into some unexpected problems, Jim put the safety of his men first. We adjusted the price in a most fair way and I suspect Jim had to eat some costs to stay as close to his bid as possible. He didn't take short cuts or do less on any other portion of the job to try to make up for those costs. I'd use The Tree Trimmer again in a heartbeat and feel like I not only found a reliable service but made a friend, as well.

We called Jim at 7 p.m. Tuesday and he came right over. He walked around with us and listened to what we wanted, then gave us an estimate of $1500, minus the 10% senior discount. He and his crew came today (Thursday) and took down 2 maple trees, 1 dogwood, a diseased red bud, and a dead cypress, and a weeping willow. They also took down an arborvitum and some junipers and ground out their roots, plus the stumps from the 2 maples. While they were taking down the arborvitum, they ran into a huge nest of hornets! One of the men was stung 3 times, and Jim hauled the hive off into the woods! The used up 1-1/2 cans of Wasp and Hornet spray to kill the remaining varmints, and continued their work. That's going above and beyond. Jim and his crew were thorough and professional. We appreciated Jim's responsiveness in scheduling the work within 2 days. We will definitely use The Tree Trimmer again.

I called Jim on July 30th for a quote to remove one storm damaged pear tree from our front lawn. He said he would be able to stop by later that evening following another job. Jim honored his word, arrived that evening, and gave me a quote. I also chose to have a second tree removed at the same time. Jim said he would be able to take care of our problem within the next two days. Jim arrived on schedule. He and his crew began on the morning of the second day. They worked all day until only small remnants of mulch remained. Both Jim and his crew were professional and courteous. I would use The Tree Trimmer again and highly recommend them.

The bushes and open areas of the yard had just grown with all the rain to the point that it was out of control. Jim and his crew came to the rescue and restored it to the level of " great curb appeal " in front and the back yard to the quiet,relaxing place where I can shut the rest of the world out and enjoy the beauty of nature. They removed some holly bushes that were crowding out the roses in one of the rose gardens and trimmed another one that was trying to take over the rose garden in the front.... I cannot praise their work enough and the professionalism that they do their job... They really are the best....

They did an excellant job. The tree was removed with no mess and they did not damage anything. Not ever the yard.

Outstanding service."The Tree Trimmer" was the third estimate I received. I called Jim on 15 July, He was at my home within an hour, and provided a very reasonable estimate that included cutting down tree to ground level, cleaning up area, and hauling tree away. On 16 July, Jim and his crew took down the tree and cleaned the area up exactly as described the day before. I have a variety of trees that need trimmed and thinned. "The Tree Trimmer" is going to perform the service.

Jim came out the same afternoon that he was contacted to give an estimate and then performed the the tree trimming the very next day. He and his crew communicated with us about how we wanted the trees shaped and even added an arbor strap to maintain an unruly top in one of our trees. We were very happy with the finished product and we will likely call on the Tree Trimmer again in the future.

Because of the rainy year we have had, they were behind on another job and showed up without prior notice to do the job right then. It was a bit inconvenient as I had to change my plans for the day, but they quickly got the huge overhang cut out without incident. Part of the outer branches actually hung on top of my extremely rare Korean Mountain Maple and above my powerline, but they removed the overhanging large branch without issues. What made this important is they could not get their lift into position to remove this section because of the power lines and it being a tight end property on a deadend street. They were professional, experienced, precise and got the dangerous job done which other tree trimming companies would have refused to attempt. Well done...kudos.

This was a complicated process, requiring multiple crew members. The trees were located in an area where a bucket lift could not be used, so a crew member had to climb each tree, and gradually cut it to stump level. Would rate their service as excellent, and would use them again in the future.

They got right to work and had the tree down and cleaned up in less than 3 hours. It was amazing to watch the climber up in a 80+ foot tall tree. Very professional services.....We will be using them for all our tree problems in the future.

The job was done quickly in less time than promised. Was available immediately to do the job.

They showed up "in force" and was set up and working before I could get out of the house. I thought the tree could not be saved but Jim assured me otherwise. The removal and cleanup was efficient and it seemed that had only started and then they were suddenly finished. Remarkable ! I thought, well they made that look easy enough,so lets see how they handle topping this huge spruce. The bucket lift could not reach the affected area at the top of the tree. NO PROBLEM ! Out came the climbing and safety gear. Up in the bucket, out onto the tree and up he climbed with a chainsaw and the necessary tools to begin removing the top of the spruce that had become diseased and dead.Once again, the job was completed and the cleanup was done. I now realize that when a dangerous job looks easy, it is because the skill level of this team was superior to any I have ever witnessed. Jim is now in my address book and my cell phone.

Excellent work and follow through. As an example, after tilling our entire yard, they were unable to plant the new seed as it rained unexpectedly. Rain continued for several days. Jim stayed in touch with me each day until the rain subsided and he was able to re-enter the yard. Jim had his crew re-till the entire yard before laying the seed down as he was concerned about a few spots that had been slightly compacted due to the unexpected rain. This was done at no extra cost to me. Jim also used the best high-end seed available and thoroughly covered the entire yard with straw after the seed was sown. Once again, The Tree Trimmer did an awesome job and provided excellent feedback as the project progressed. .While the crew was here, it was noticed that two of the 40 plus trees he had planted for us a few months ago were not thriving. He replaced these trees with new ones at no charge. Jim means it when he says he stands behind his work 100 percent.

He's insured, bonded, does a really good job and 2nd generation local-based business. I used them several times. They are very good and dependable. My experience with them is excellent. I like that he's insured and very dependable, got a lot of work of in the neighborhood. He has fair price and he will do what he says he will do.
