+ -1 moreThey do termite and other pest control for me. I am real pleased with what they are doing. They gave me a cheaper deal than the previous company that I was using so I thought I would try them and I found that their spraying actually works better. They also check on the cob webs outside. They don’t do a few parts which people use but I have alternate plans with them. They pointed out things that the previous company had not done; I had not realized it. They are much more detail oriented; that’s what I like about them. They are very upfront at telling me what to expect. They had clearly said they will spray inside and outside but most of the time it will be outside the house. The treatment has been holding quiet well. The man that comes to do the work is very thorough, and asks about any problems. I am planning to hire them for my daughter’s house too.

+ -1 moreThey charge a lot. Depending on who the technician is will determine how thorough the checkup is and what they have say about our house. Last year they said we had critter openings on the side of the house and this year they didn't even go to that side of our house. We don't know how their prices compare. We have never had to call them back out. We will probably continue to use them.

+ -1 moreDo shop around... and especially do check our every lead to find really satisfied customers... then discuss what and how their services do the work. I'm sure there are many better choices - but we are still searching for another comparable to Bio-Gard.
Description of Work: We hired Terminix to to do our customary annual spring treatment - primarily because they had bought the business of our previous Pest Control service (Bio-Gard - Smyrna?). ( It would appear that the Terminix business model is to buy up all the competition and raise the prices. ) (Check out the number of Terminix phone #'s in the phone book - are these all former competitors which were bought out... or became "franchisees?) After establishing that our regular source had become Terminix we had to then re-negotiate a price and a service that were "comparable to that which we had become accustomed." Of course Terminix wanted to put us on a monthly or quarterly program which would cost us several times what we had become used to paying. When we arrived at a price which we could accommodate, they came and did our "treatment." In addition... with the "new" Terminix service, we were provided a "free termite inspection" which resulted in a separate visit and "scare lecture" by their termite control expert. To alleviate all of the fears which they could contrive - we were offered a "package of preventive services" costing well over $1000, plus the "annual update fee of $200" to assure the guaranteed service was still working. (Our previous service provided the same annual inspection - without the 'scare lecture' or need for annual renewal fees - for free every year. Less than 60 days later they are about to get another call to return and try to do what we paid them to do - control the pests. With our previous service, we never saw crawling insects or spiders inside the house after our treatments (occasionally a dead one would "turn up!") We have seen at least three different types of insects (alive) in the past 10 days (millipede, roaches, spiders)... which never happened in the past. I would love to know if our previous service owners have (or will) establish another business, or if anyone knows what became of that service, or another company which might provide comparable service. I would also love to know if other Terminix customers have been treated to similar services?

+ -1 moreVery poor customer service. I had a termite protection package that required inside and outside inspection of the property on a routine basis. This year the company did not allow me to select a time for the inspection but sent a postcard telling me a four-hour window during which I would need to be home. I took off work, and no one showed up. This is after I called the number on their notification postcard to confirm the date and time of the appointment. I had to call and reschedule and this time the representative did show up. However, I then began getting postcards and voice mails telling me their records did not reflect an indoor inspection, which had to be done to continue my coverage. I called and spoke with several different customer service reps, none of whom could correct their records - even though one rep mentioned they had my signature on file the day of the inspection, reflecting that I had to have been home when the inspection occurred. Another customer service rep told me there had been mutliple problems since the company changed to the postcard notification rather than letting clients call to schedule their own times for inspections. After multiple calls without correction of their records, I got a customer service rep who was rude and impatient and interrupted me to say she would just have a manager call me. It took several days and an online inquiry to the company to get the call from the manager and by the time the manager called I said it was too little too late and they had lost my business. I cancelled and switched to another company.

+ -1 morePersonally, I had a completely awful experience with them. First, the guy came home, and I asked him to go inside outside the garage as well as the basement. He literally came in and out in 10 minutes. He didn't even touch the garage, which I know for the fact that he had to stay down in the garage. He didn't give any sort of feedback as to what he was doing. I actually had follow-up services with them because the service was so bad. The second guy who came actually pointed out the things that the first guy didn't even find. They are not supposed to spray directly on hardwood floors. When he went outside to do the outside, I expected him to come back in, and summarize what he has done. I went outside after 5 minutes, and he was gone without confirming. I wont grade the whole company because the representative didn't do his job properly. However, in this case I had to follow-up with them by calling and contacting them several times. It was about three weeks before they actually did anything about my complaint. I did it via email, I did it via online surveys, and I called several times. I even got sales call from them trying to sell me their product, which I found quite insulting considering, they were messaging me regarding my complaint, and sell me something.
Description of Work: I hired Terminix to inspect as well as spray around the house during April or May.

+ -1 moreI purchased their ULTIMATE PROTECTION for $50+ per month. They agreed to come on 5/3/2011 between 1-5pm... I re-arranged my schedule and waited. They called at 4:40pm and said that the weather was bad... that they were behind... finally admitted that they had failed to schedule me... I asked to speak to a supervisor... I spoke to a lady who promised to have an area manager call me this morning. He did not call... So, I have canceled.... or so I hope... for they would offer no proof that I was cancelled... INTERESTINGLY, they did have time to give my name to their 'sister' company that treats lawns, TrueGreen... They called about 3 times on 5/3/2011, stating that they had come to our property, evaluated and had a price for which they would treat the lawn. They must have come while we were out for lunch. SO, WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION, they are on our property... and without permission our name and info are given to a company that we had no interest in and they were ready to go to work... but TERMINEX was no where to be found.... I WILL NOT EVER be doing

+ -1 moreThey did a really good job. It seems to have been effective. They had done an estimate and we thought about it for a day or two. My husband compared them to some other companies and they were very reasonable. We have a 6,000 square foot house. They are bonded and licensed. They were very prompt when they came out. Terminix is a good brand. They did a real good job and they were really nice. Their price was average and about what everybody was. They were very professional.

+ -1 moreI have a service contract with the pest control company and pay them once a year for the termite treatment. I use them for their name recognition and I feel that they can be trusted. They do a good job because my cat doesn't seem to have many creatures to play with. I haven't compared their price with anybody else because I am confident that they do a good job. The quality of work is good because my house has not been carried away by termites and I don't have any pests around. They have called me on my cell phone and given me time to get home on occasions when I had forgotten about their appointment. They have a neat online system where they set up appointments and I can know the date and time of my next appointment. I always set up my appointments in the afternoon and they honor them.
Description of Work: Terminix comes out and does the treatment for termites, ants, and other pests. They come for the regular pest control every three months.

+ -1 moreThey were very helpful and friendly. Their work was very professional. I have had a lot of problems with ants in the past and they have helped me neutralize this problem. The problem hasn't completely gone away, but not because of anything they didn't do. There are simply a lot of ants in this part of town.
Description of Work: I had an ant problem. I had to have both the inside and outside of my house sprayed for ants. My terms of agreement are that they come out every 3 to 4 months. My house is around 2,700 square feet.

+ -1 moreWell, they sprayed, sprayed again and sprayed again and I still have ants. The same problem is still going on. They were in and out, in and out and still nothing. We now use them for our termite control and I am just hoping I did the right thing. This treatment for the termites is such a big investment that we had to drop the ants. I just hope it works out.

+ -1 moreThis initial treatment was done well and I don't have any complaints. I do have complaints about their billing for the annual contract. That billing starts 6 months prior to the expiration of the contract each year. I also take exception to the inspectors calling at will and saying they are in the neighborhood and want to do the inspection at their convenience instead of the customer's convenience. The biggest problem is the 100% increase in the cost of the annual contract without a real justification for it. There are no material consumed in the inspection, so they are just billing for their inspection services. Those costs have not risen 100% in the 9-year period as the CPI has only gone up about 30% in the same period. I think this is a big rip-off by Terminix.
Description of Work: In March 1998 I entered into a termite protection plan which consisted on an initial treatment for my home and subsequent annual inspections at an initial cost of $95 per year. The contract stipulates that after the third annual period Terminix reserves the right to revise the annual extension charge. In the following 9-year period the annual cost has risen to $197, which is about a 100% increase. This increase is significantly above the consumer price index increase during the same period..
