They are good company

Upstairs AC unit was not cooling well. They booked me quickly, showed up on time, and diagnosed a problem quickly. It was not the only problem causing the heat, as I found out later, but it was the problem with the AC unit. The original installer had done a poor soldering job, and the Freon had leaked. They resoldered, and refilled the freon. The price seemed rather high to me, which I spoke to the owner about, but he very patiently explained that the cost of freon was very high right now.

Three technicians showed up at exactly the time they had stated. They explained the entire process and that it would require several hours to perform the necessary work. They began the tear out phase while awaiting arrival of the system. Once it arrived, they took numerous measurements and realized that it would be impossible to get the attic unit in place through the attic opening. Instead of saying there was nothing they could do, these guys contacted the warehouse and described the style of unit needed that would function perfectly with the system and could be raised into place inside the attic. As they awaited delivery of the unit, the team set about updating the necessary tubing, returns, etc to allow max efficiency once installed. Despite several challenges associated with the pre-existing system, they never compromised on their quality of work. It was first rate. Thy prepared us for the possibility that they might not be able to complete the heating unit on the same day but they would not leave until we had a functioning air system. With the temps outside in the 90s, we did not think the gas heater was critical. These three guys worked essentially non-stop for over 10 hrs to have our system in place and the house cool. What was really impressive was that despite the extensive work of running copper lines, rearranging things, and constant trips into the attic, when they left you would never had known anyone had been there doing anything. It was spotless in the house and in the yard. Despite the lateness of the day and that it was a holiday weekend, they took the time to fully explain the unit, the thermostat, and how to operate the system. This company from the owner, the sales guy who went out of his way to make sure we had the absolute proper system, and the installers were exceptional. They were so good that as soon as we need to replace the other system, we will make only one call and that will be to this group.

After a disastrous start, when the repairman arrived two hours after the promised time, the company management made amends by several verbal apologies and, more tangible, offering a discount on a new unit. The team to install the unit arrived on time and completed the work in a timely manner--just as promised. The installation crew was extremely courteous and appeared to be knowledgeable and professional. They cleaned up any mess from the boxes and paper with the new equipment, made sure there were no stains on the carpet and hauled away the old equipment that was removed. The room looks exactly as it did before they started. One small matter involved the thermostat. The supervisor advised me that the thermostat on the old unit was superior to the thermostat on the new unit and suggested that I use the new thermostat on the older unit in the main house. The team stayed extra time to install the new thermostat on a much older AC/heating unit in the main house. They could have left early by simply not telling me anything. Instead they took an extra step solely to help the customer. A day or so later there was a follow-up by the owner to inquire as to whether I was satisfied. I was very satisfied. It was good service at the right price.

Replaced dead HVAC system. This company was wonderful in every way. After my system died I did my homework, reading everything I could about how to get the correct/best/most cost-effective HVAC system. Most important thing I gleaned was that a reputable contractor should ALWAYS do a load calculation to determine the correct size system. A system that is too big will cycle on & off constantly, cost you tons of money & you will never be comfortable. One that is too small can't do the job, you will be uncomfortable & it will cost you tons of money. (Many states require HVAC contractors to perform load calculations, but not TN.) 2nd most important point: the service after the sale matters tremendously. You want service 24/7 and a real person who answers the phone, and prompt service if something goes wrong. I obtained quotes from 6 companies, 2 of which are the most familiar Nashville names in HVAC. I told all the salesmen that the existing system was 4 Ton, cycled on & off constantly for years, many rooms with hot/cold spots, and we had never been really comfortable. One salesman (from one of the top 2 names) told me I didn't know how to operate the system, another told me that an HVAC could not function properly at my preferred temperatures. Right! Quotes varied wildly, but Mid-State won me over. It was the ONLY company which insisted on doing a load calculation before telling me what I needed. (Thank you, Chris!). One company agreed to do calculation AFTER I signed a contract, another wanted to charge for it. The others refused, just saying they would replace with the same size as I had or go higher. RIDICULOUS. I also called all the companies after hours to see what kind of service I could expect. The only company with a real person 24/7 was Mid-State .....which could matter a lot at 3 am in January! Before Chris from Mid-State would even give a recommendation or quote he did a load calculation. Chris came up with a recommendation for a 3 Ton, even though I had a 4 ton. I had many questions, which the owner, Robert, was extremely patient about, putting up with multiple phone calls & a slew of questions. No pressure from him, just an absolute gentleman. To be sure about the size, they ran the calculation a second time. Based on referrals, insistence on doing a load calculation, quality of equipment, phone service, I selected Mid-State, and am I ever happy! Mid-State wasn't the most expensive, wasn't the cheapest. But, I do believe they are the best. The day after I told Chris I wanted the system, the men showed up. Within hours I had heat!!!! They tested the air flow in all the rooms to make sure everything was working right, wore their booties in the house, cleaned up completely in the yard, and hauled all the debris away. PERFECTION! BOY were Chris and Robert right about this system! NO hot spots, no cold spots. The system doesn't cycle continuously and it is quiet. Our house is comfy, for the first time in 17 years AND we are using 25%-33% LESS gas and electricity to run this fantastic system. So........ they did a load calculation, provided good equipment with a good warranty, quick clean install, checked the system performance before leaving & have followed up several times to be sure all is working, I'm saving money every month., and we are comfortable. Am I happy? YOU BET!

The company called to tell me that the men were going to be late, which I appreciated. The men showed up just after I hung up, and weren't, in fact, late. They introduced themselves and were very professional. They put on shoe covers before entering my house. They counted all of the vents, then went out to get their machine. They worked on one vent at a time, taking off the cover, cleaning the vent, then cleaning the cover, then putting the cover back on. They were very neat, clean, and careful. I will use them again!

COMPLETELY & TOTALLY impressed with these fine folks! From my first contact with Jennifer in the office, the experience could not have been better. My tech, Shannon, was marvelous, communicative, and professional. I let him "sell" me what i thought was a fantastic deal of 99.00 for two tuneups a year, and including a pretty nifty discount on repairs, if needed. HIRE THESE FOLKS! By the way....i'm very slow to recommend like this. But these folks are more than worth it. Got a feeling these folks will keep my unit running for a very long time. Many thanks!!!!

I had an excellent interaction with Mid State Air. They were professional, competent and honest.

We bought a fixer-upper home in late 2010. During that brutal winter last year, the gas furnace was running though propane like nobody's business and we were still freezing. I called Mid-State at the recommendation of a friend. Knowing the unit would probably have to be replaced, I didn't want to trust an unknown to do such a massive job. The estimator/sales man was a really nice guy and took the time to sit down and go over the estimate in detail, answering all of our questions. Unfortunately, we had to replace both units and switched the 15 yr-old old gas furnace to a gas/electric hybrid?a big chunk of money. They were great about working with us on financing options and not trying to up-sell us too much. The biggest thing I can say about our experience with Mid-State is their commitment to doing the job right. Once the crew got into the attic and crawlspace they realized there were some additional needs like insulation, updating a power supply, enlarging an intake, etc. The foreman, TJ, told me every time they encountered a new concern/issue that they would have to take care of this to "do the job right." But, that they would not charge us for them because it was outside of the original scope of the estimate. Who does that? Amazing. Not only were they extremely attentive to the details, they were more concerned with doing the job right than making an extra buck. If for no other reason than that, I would make them your first choice for HVAC repair/replacement. Their customer service is also A+, with the owner, Robert, calling to follow up and make sure I was happy with the work and see if there was anything else they needed to do. I have continued to use them for our seasonal tune-ups and the techs that service the units are always extremely thorough and professional, as well as the nicest guys. Can't say enough good things about this company.

They came out, and he was very good. I had problems with my heater, and he was very reasonable. Also put in a system for me, a keypad that changes the temperature, that is excellent. He even inspected the rest of the house, and fixed the air upstairs. I went for 7 years without air conditioning upstairs, and he fixed it. No one else could fix it, and I had lots of people look at.

Over all they did an excellent job, they were clean, punctual, relatively fast, & thoro. A major plus was that they were able to come on a Saturday to perform the service. In addition, they caught a major mistake that the company I used to service my HVAC unit did. Only minus was that they did not mention that my dryer vent was disconnected under the house, which was important information and should be fixed right a way. Other than that I would hire them again.

They are my heating guys and I use them regularly. The price depends on what I’m having done I guess. They’ve done some repairs but they have a maintenance membership that we buy, so I don’t know what it breaks down to for an annual maintenance. I bought a membership with them and that includes two annual tune ups on both of my heat pump machines. It includes discounted rates on repairs. They have replaced an evaporator and that was something I paid out of pocket for doing that. I did get a discount but it was still a lot of money. They’ve done other repairs as well. I haven’t had them do the air duct cleaning, dryer vent cleaning or insulation as yet. I don’t have a comparison with regard to price. They are a great company and I can trust them in my home. They usually send the same guy out. They try and purposely do that. If it’s the same person, they do a good job. If I call, they can get somebody to do it pretty quickly. I like working with them.

The technicians were both courteous and helpful during the whole vent cleaning process, as well as the installation of the thermostat. I plan on using them for my spring/fall air condititioning/heating unit tuneup that I try to do every year. It is very nice to find a family oriented business anxious to please their customers and do a good job. I highly recommend them to my neighbors (I allowed them to put a sign in my yard to that effect.)

I was impressed with the speed and professionalism of Mid State's team. When we set up the appointment I was told it may take 2 days, but they stayed late and were able to finish it in a single day. There wasn't any issue with mud tracked into our house even though it was raining on the day it was done. When they sealed the ducts in the attic we noticed an immediate difference in our upstairs because we weren't losing all of our heated air anymore. Our sons room was always cold at night before and it stays warm now. Additionally, they were able to fix the dryer vent under our house which had recently come loose - this was great because I don't really like getting under the house. Insulation is a project that pays for itself over time, but we immediately felt good about our investment because of how this job went.

The day they came there was bad weather and yet they came. They worked right through it. It took them two days. It was a big job. I did have a problem because they forgot to put some pins above the insulation and it dropped and they had to come back and redo that part. I had to retake some things down there. We had another inspection and I did have one piece of insulation dropped off and the inspector went ahead and put it in place. That is my only concern that when they put insulation it should stay. However, I will use them again as I am very pleased with them. They came back immediately to fix things and I did not have to fight with them. What I did not really like is that the first time they came after the insulation they did not tell me that there was a person there in the crawl space and I kept hearing noises. They should have told me that the work men came and went. It would have been nice if they had informed me about that. They were 30 minutes late the last time they came, but that does not bother me.

They were really great. I thought the price was in line. It was affordable. We liked them so much that we will probably use them when we have issues with our central air and heat. We will have them back. They have a system where they call the morning of to tell you when they will be there. They will not really schedule it until the morning of the day. So, that could be be a little bit difficult if you are working.

They are really great. We have signed up for like a monthly installment plan and it includes the fall and the spring checkup in it. The plan is pretty reasonable. It seems to be more reasonable than paying out of pocket for the checkups. I am actually pretty happy about it plus they cover a certain percentage of any repair. We would rate them highly and would continue to use them in the future.

It went very well. My HVAC went out the day before I was going on vacation. I spoke with them and had a family member meet them here. They installed my new unit and recommended financing thru our utility company and helped me file the energy credit on my taxes. I wish I would have looked at a more green way of heating and cooling instead of just replacing with the same thing. That was my shortsightedness not theirs. Overall I am very satisfied with this company and continue to use them today.

They arrived as scheduled to begin working. Went into the attic to access the needed equipment and begin the process. Completed their work, left no mess or scraps. No problems

It went fine.; He was done in about 30 minutes and the unit has run fine since.

I was very happy with it. They were able to see me that day. The guy came in the allotted time frame. He was knowledgeable, very friendly, and quick.

Excellent in all respects. I wanted insulation blown into the garage ceiling below our family room (there was absolutely none between the basement and first floor in this 70s house). They carefully cut holes in the drywall in the correct places and filled the spaces very well. They were very knowledgeable.

They were very professional and did a great job installing. I had a TVA inspector come after the install as we took out a TVA loan and he checked their work and it was in good order. Their technicians are very competent and hard working. I would recommend them to anyone interested in a new unit and in maintenance.

They are honest, reliable, have a quick response time and don't nickel and dime you.
