Diagnosis assessment for toilet

It didn't. I called their emergency line because I had a drain stopped up and a house full of people that couldn't get a shower. This was 9-10pm. He didn't want to come that night but would be there by 6:00 am, could I wait. I said ok. Next morning, no plumber. He finally called to tell me that his alarm had been going off for an hour but he didn't hear it. I told him not to bother and called another company instead. Will use them for heat/air but never plumbing.

Arrived on time, professional and it took a total of 15 minutes to complete the work. Major issue---price was exceptionally high for the part ($55 for a washer) and $85 for the service call. As a regular CHOATES HVAC customer they are great. Plumbing--too expensive.

They were on time, very courteous, and did an excellent job for a fair price. Finished the job in one day.

They did a great job. They were polite and efficient. The salesman that came out initially was very friendly. He told me about the rebates they had available and that kind of stuff.

They are responsive to my calls and they cleaned up well after themselves.

As usual, their guy called ahead to let me know he was coming. He arrived promptly and went right to work. He was very professional and friendly and was finished within an hour. I've used Choate two or three other times when I had an A/C problem and then for seasonal maintenance. I've always received prompt, professional service by the people at Choate, including the people in their office. I would not hesitate to recommend Choate's for Heating/Air Conditioning or plumbing services.

I have probably been using them for five years. We have used them before. Their son was a friend of our daughters in high school. They are very good, very professional, on time. We have a little bit of a problem and they got back quick when we had a leak and they fixed it with no charge which is under warranty. They are perfect. I would continue to use them.

My unit quit working on Tuesday night and I called them to set up an appointment. The lady who answered (I later found out this was an answering service) asked me if I wanted it fixed right away or the next day. I said I didn't want to pay extra for emergency night service and she said that would not be the case. A short while later a technician called me and asked me if I wanted him to come out right away (it was already 9:30pm and I felt bad about asking him to do that since I wasn't being charged extra for it being so late) I agreed to not require this on the condition he would assure me that I would be serviced early the next day. The next day I assumed I would be getting a call from them early morning, so I stayed home from work. After waiting until about 9:15, I finally called them only to find they had no record of my call from the night before. As a result, I had to wait until 3pm the next day before the tech finally came out to fix things. As I mentioned above, I was upset about the price he was charging me and I pushed back on the pricing, first with the technician (who was very nonchalant about it) and then later I called the owner about it. Basically all I got from the owner was a lecture about how reputable they were, how everyone charged similar and quot;flatand quot; rates, how they had to charge that much to cover their overhead, etc. At one point the owner said and quot;well he quoted you a price and you said okand quot;... Yes, I said ok ...what choice did I have since my ac wasn't working ? It was obvious the owner didn't care that I was upset about his pricing. After he replaced the part and the unit was back working, the tech then told me I needed Freon...and quot;at least a poundand quot; he said. At that point I began to get uncomfortable about all this and decided to do some checking on the part being replaced (I assumed if it cost well over 200 dollars to fix something, the part must have been expensive as well). That's when I found it was just a $20 part. I asked him why they charged $220 to replace a $20 part (which only took 30 minutes) and he said and quot;that's just our flat rate for doing thatand quot; I asked him why the unit needed Freon when it was cooling just fine before it quit and his answer was and quot;well its going to really cool things down nowand quot;. As the technician was leaving he suggested I get some bug spray and spray around the area because ants like to get into this part and cause it go bad...said they had to replace one guys part 3 times already this year. I've been here 3 years now and this is the first time and quot;antsand quot; caused this to go bad on my unit. I've since learned that a reputable company brings a scale out to the unit, weighs the Freon bottle and then uses the scale to show you how much Freon was put into the unit. When through putting in freon, this technician said and quot;I'm going out to the truck now to see if I can determine how much Freon I put in your unit.and quot; To summarize: I think I was taken advantage of, may have been charged for services I didn't even need (Freon) and I don't think they care if I am a satisfied customer or not. I used Choate's some years ago when the dad (Joe) was in charge and it was different then...he was very nice, reasonable and respectful to his customers. I was hoping to use them again for my a/c work but I doubt I will after this. I intend to do some checking tomorrow with other AC companies on what they charge for replacing this part, how much they charge for Freon, etc..

They were late, came at random times, took several days to finish a job

One of my compressors has a very slow freon leak and once a year we add freon to the unit. I called Choate's and their assessment was the unit needed 4-6 pounds of freon and in the technicians words, and quot;Due to Obama changing the way we get minerals/chemicals in the US, prices of freon has risen and it will cost you $150.00 per pound!and quot; So, let me get this straight $150.00 times 4-6 pounds, so $600.00-$900.00 dollars for freon in a secondary ac compressor? Then he had the audacity to tell me it would cost $125.00 a piece to clean the washable filters in the 3 units. He also stated one filter had never been cleaned due to a pipe in front of the filter and the pan on the unit needed replacing. That was just a lie. I have the filters cleaned routinely and the filter in the unit with the pipe just slides out over the pipe. The pan is functioning properly as well. So, $1275.00 for cleaning 3 washable filters and putting in 4 pounds of coolant! I did have 3+ pounds of freon added by another company. By the way, freon wholesale is $20.00 per pound! I spoke with Choate's regarding their technician's claims and they now say I owe $85.00 for the estimate! No one ever told me in my initial call or during the consultation with the tech that I was being charged $85.00 for him to attempt to charge unheard of prices and make claims that a unit needed a new pan base! I'm not sure why he made those false claims Either he has no knowledge or was he just trying to drive the ticket price further? You may choose to blame the government for a lot of things, but Choate's has to own this one. Never again will I use them! Highway robbery and then some. I now realize I was most likely taken advantage of when they cleaned my units and charged me the crazy amounts for the uv bulbs.

Two guys worked all day and did a great job. Our utility bill has gone from an average $280 per month to $170 per month on a 2400 square foot two story home built in 1996.

They were on time and very professional. They made sure that they left everything cleaned up and back in place.

It went very well. It was a lot of work but only took three days. House was left very clean and you could hardly tell anyone had ever been there.

I had determined the need for this due to finding bits of insulation in supply vents and the fact that I had to change our 1and quot; filter monthly due to debris collection within the unit. Accurate Estimate provided by Brian Choate in December. I had the worked delayed until January due to the holidays. Brian was very helpful and honest in explaining process. He checked for the actual benefit of duct cleaning by checking HVAC Unit and several ducts and did not try to oversell or scare me as some other duct cleaning companies have been known to do. On the date of service, two technicians were on-time to begin the process which literally took all day. Billy and Javier were very polite and professional. I was quite impressed at how well they were able to keep their work areas clean as they moved throughout the house. Brian came by during the beginning of the work to check-in which was appreciated. At the end of the project, Billy took the time to walk me through the house and confirm that everything was back where it needed to be and cleaned up. I waited a week to see if I could find any reason to lower any of the scores from A's to a B, as I am not one to give perfect scores, but honestly they did a great job.

Called to service a unit that went out over the weekend. Showed up on time but didn't finish the job on the first day. Just left on a 95 degree day without saying anything and was unreachable for close to 3 hours. I was told that the unit would be finished the next day. They tried to put me off until the next afternoon but I was insistent that I be first on the list as they started my job the day before. They came out again and replaced the fan motor. The sold me one of their replacement motors but the unit still did not work. They told me they had to leave because they had other calls and never fixed my unit. They also told my tenant that the units were "junk" and that they were "gonna have problems". How unprofessional is that? Their whatever it takes slogan is a complete joke in my book.

My air suddenly quit working. I had never used Choate but had seen commercials. Their technician came punctually checked the thermostat and said it was not working and the source of the problem. He told my friend who was there that to replace the thermostat would be about 194.00 for the least expensive one plus the service fee of 85.00. So nearly 300.00 to change a thermostat. Fortunately for me I refused. I have Air Masters here this morning who took off the thermostat, saw the batteries in it and asked if I had two new AA batteries. When he placed the new batteries in it the system came on. I called Choate and they are returning my check and contacting their service technician.

They were very good. They showed up on time. They cleaned up after themselves.

I think they did a great job. They bargained with me on the price and I went through a lot of good estimates. They did the work well and they were able to help with the issues that I had. I had no issues with them at all.

I have a hybrid unit and it is really saving me money. In the winter time, the system switches to natural gas. I am very pleased with their work. Even after I paid them the full amount, they came and ran a main line to a particular room that wasn't getting the air flow that I wanted it to. They came back and didn't charge me anything. I have a 10-year warranty for parts and labor on my unit. They were one of the best contractors I've ever had an experience with. I referred them to my daughter as well.

The work was wonderful. They gave me a price and time, and they came and stayed until the work was finished correctly; they worked for over 12 hours. They used good equipment. They were very mannerly, and I had no problems with them. They were a wonderful company to deal with. I checked with a couple of places, and their price was in line and very competitive; they were neither cheap nor expensive. They had Carrier equipment, which was what I wanted. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future.

I first had them come out to check my A/C and heating units, both of which I knew were in bad shape. They gave me a clear assessment of my system and options for repair and replacement. They gave me a written estimate for replacing my system which included several different unit sizes and price ranges. I got two other places to come out to give me estimates, but of the three Choate's was the one I felt best about and they gave me more options then the other two companies. They came out on the day scheduled on time and completed the work that day. They did have to come back to install an additional return and this was done in a timely manner. They were professional, and left the work area clean and neat. They were knowledgable regarding any questions I had. I would highly recommend them.
