Description of Work: Home AC system compressor failed. Called Choate's for estimate and repair. Technician showed up late and took one look at the system on my home and said I would need to replace the entire system. I'm an engineer and knew that the entire system did not need to be replaced, just the outside unit. I let them prepare a quote just to see what the price would be. They presented me with a quote for over $14,000.00. I contacted Pepper's air conditioning service and they replaced the outside condenser, charged it, had the system up and running within a day and charged me less than $2000.00 and provided a 5 year warranty on the compressor and a 1 year warranty on their installation. Choate's in known in the area for high prices and less than good service. I would not recommend them for any of their services.
