Doug and his son always show up when they say and do the work. If anything isn't right, they always come right back and take care of it.

Mr. Helmick and his son, Spencer were great. I was given an estimate for everything and as soon as my husbsnd and i agreed on what to go ahead with, we set the work into motion with Mr. Helmick. He showed up on the day he said and told me the things he planned to work on for the day. He also took into consideration the weather and what to work on that day. He even rearranged a prior job on one day to get our outside work done before it rained and worked some on Saturday to get it finished. Each day he cleaned up after his work and was very considerate of not hitting walls or scratching the wood floors. We were so pleased, we have asked for an estimate to finish out a room and bath in our basement.

In July of 2011, Doug and his son gave me an estimate on several requested problem areas in my home. I'd been involved in a major remodel of my home and wish I'd found this small business earlier. Doug explains what's needed, does quality work, takes steps to save the customer money, such as when he did the first job of putting an electrical outlet in where a gas stove had been. He first measured the materials needed as the wire for the job is very expensive. The second job, done last week (3rd week in Oct 2011) was taking down my gutters on a 1534 sq ft home, pressure washing and repairing the facia and soffits, putting on 2 coats of paint and hauling away the gutters. The job was done on time, within specs and on budget. I appreciate that he and his son do all the work, therefore there is no dealing with subs who may or may not know what they are doing. I rarely give all A's to anything that I evaluate, but this company has left me a very happy homeowner :) due to their excellent work, dependability, honesty and also pointing out other things that need fixing on the home to keep my home in good repair. These other problems weren't things he would get paid to do as they were new things that had been done by others and call backs were required.. One problem was on the new roof and one was on a new window where the caulking was gapping. I will use this company again.

He is hard to reach sometimes because Angies Lists has kept him busy. He is very affordable and even did some small stuff for us for free. (we still paid him something). He came in the middle of the night when we had an emergency leak. He is a plumber by trade but can do a host of other things.... I highly recommend his services.

The provider showed up when he said he would to give me the initial quote on these and other jobs that I needed. He got the quotes back to me in a reasonable amount of time and the prices were very fair. I have been getting the jobs done as I can afford and he has always been there when he said he would be and has completed each job quickly. His craftmanship is very good and it is obvious that he cares about the quality of his work. I am confused by the B's he is given by some on his price because the quotes I received were very reasonable and he has accomplished each job and stayed wll within the quoted price. I will continue to use this company for all the small renovations and repairs that I need because I am thrilled to find someone who cares this much about what they do.

I wasn't sure if he was going to be able to do the work because he said he never attempts anything if he doesn't think he can do it. There was something else I wanted him to do but he said he didn't know anything about that. He was able to take care of everything. He put in a new fuse box and he told my husband what he had done wrong. He said that he and the guy that works with him would be here at 8 am and they pulled up in the driveway a couple of minutes before which was good. Electricians are very expensive but they weren't. They were like two little busy foxes and did all the work. He gave us a break because we are seniors. We will most definitely use them again. He also does other things and I will use him if I think it is something that he can do. His prices were very, very reasonable.

Mr. Helmick was very complete with his estimate, it was written and very clear. He started work just when he said he would and when I came up with other things I needed to have done he again made an estimate and we agreed before he began. He explained everything to me that he would have to do and what materials would be necessary and about what they would cost (he purchased things he would need except for the toilets and vanities which I had already selected and bought). After all the work was finished he called and I went and looked it over and paid him.....then my tenant used the bathroom and there was a leak at the base of the commode. I called Doug and he sent his son immediately (after normal working hours) to find the problem and repair it. Incidentally, he did have his son with him to help him but Doug himself was always there and in charge of the job. No other problems have developed and I am very well satisfied with his work and his charges. I recommend him strongly to anyone who needs someone who can do a lot of different things and do them well.

Overall I am very happy with the work that was done.

I had used Happy Home Repairs (which is a sole proprietorship) for very minor repairs at my previous house and was pleased. So when I moved, he addressed all the items on my inspection list that I wanted fixed. My husband and I kept adding to the list as he worked, so of course the original quote was no good. We were still pleased with the total bill, knowing it would have been much more if we had a plumber and electrician come out to do all the things he did. Besides being a handyman, Doug is a licenced electrician, so no worries there. We had no reservations about leaving him alone in the house, or giving him a key until the work was done. It took several trips to finish everything, and he kept at it until he was done. We are making another to do list to have him back!
