Sharper Impressions Painting

Powerwashing helped a lot. Painting/staining could've gone better, but it was almost seven years ago now, and the owner says he has made changes in his personnel since his company worked on my house so the problems I encountered may not be relevant now.

The painting that we had done was very neat and precise!!! The gentleman who did the work was very professional and did a wonderful job. He was very tidy and carefull of our carpets, wood work and floors. His work was done in a timely mannor, while being flawless. I tend to be a bit of perfectionist with a critical eye, and I can honestly say that he did a beautiful job!

Complete professionals. They were prompt with scheduling a time to come visit our home for a price estimate. We received a quote immediately (on the spot) and once we decided to move forward, scheduling the work was easy. The painter arrived on-time and had all the necessary supplies, including drop cloths, ladders, etc. The quality of the work was excellent and he finished sooner than the estimated time we were given. We were especially impressed by his attention to detail and the pride he took in his work.

RUN AWAY! These guys are horrible. It began with them charging our credit card before the work was even started (they said it was a mistake, I suspect otherwise), even though they were not supposed to charge us until the job was complete. When they finished, you could still see the old colors bleeding through the new paint. You could see drip marks. You could see brush marks. The cut marks weren't close to straight so they painted onto the ceiling, and worst of all they painted over our white wood work in dozens of places. I don't mean just a little, I'm talking like a 5 year old coloring outside the lines. It was as if they never heard of taping. They painted over outlets and screwed up air vents. They dripped paint on the carpeting. It truly looked like a bunch of kids had tried to learn how to paint using our house as practice. When we complained, they told us they would send over "their best hourly guy" so he could fix it. Why didn't they send the one good guy they had the first time? When I informed them there was no way I was letting them back in my home so they could have another chance to do more damage we were offered a discount, BUT ONLY IF WE WOULD SIGN A GAG ORDER. It became obvious how this company maintains a high rating. Any time someone complains they knock some money off the bill if you promise to keep your mouth shut. I think they should be thrown off Angie's List for this practice. As of this date I have stopped the check they were given and disputed the credit card charge. I will never pay one penny for this terrible level of work. The provider immediately filed a mechanic's lien against my property. I assure you it will never be satisfied. I can also assure you I will go out of my way to tell as many people as possible to never use this company. I have since brought in a real painter and as he walked around my home to give me an estimate he just laughed when he saw the work these clowns did. The new painter did a wonderful job. He spent the better part of the first day just sanding down the walls were these clowns did damage. Then he spent a day painting the white wood work that the first guys destroyed. As I said before - RUN AWAY!

We would not use them again and we have a neighbor that has the same feelings. Overall in the end the work ended up being ok but it took multiple trips to get things completed and corrected. Obvious mistakes and sloppy painting was not fixed until we came home and identified all of the spots that needed to be fixed and sometimes it took multiple trips back by Sharper impressions. I was not impressed with the project manager. As much as I called him to express my dissatisfaction, I would have expected him to come out to the house to observe for himself. Price was ok but in our previous house in Chicago we paid less and received a lot better quality. Our next door neighbors also used sharper impressions and their experience was worse than ours. They definitely said they would not use them again nor recommend them to anyone else.

The quote was prompt and fair. Josh Nye presented the quote with all the details of what is included and not. The changes that I required were also added and he emailed me the copy. So I had everything in writing up front. Scheduling was prompt and per our convenience. The project manager (Joe Ventresca) actually helped us buy the samples a couple of days early which we tried out. Terry (the painter) called a day earlier and I could talk to him regarding my expectations and get an estimate of time for completion. I specifically mentioned covering the furniture. We had moved most of the furniture to the center of the rooms. They were ready to assist when required but that was not necessary. After the first day, we realized that the color shade was a bit too pink! We went and selected another set of shades and asked Sharper to redo the first day of the painting. They agreed to do so for the extra cost of paints and labor for the first day. The whole job was over in less than 5 days, as estimated, and we are pleased with the quality. A couple of pieces remaining were completed later, after we called them to let them know. Initially they did not return the unused paints (after we changed the shades). But later, after some follow up, they refunded the cost of the unused paints. I would hire them again.

It went very well. They came on time and when they were supposed to. They did a really good job. They were pleasant and easy to work with. We were very pleased with the results.

They were punctual in arriving for the estimate and honestly presented the most professional bid we received. However, their cost was higher then other bids and we chose a different company.

Everything started off fine. The quote was good and had a discount due to the amount of work and time of year. They promised everything would be completed by Thanksgiving. They sent a two person crew that came late and worked late. This crew ended up quitting a few days before Thanksgiving. When I asked why - they said they were not going to get the job done by Thanksgiving and if they did not complete the job the company would not pay them. I was furious since I was hosting Thanksgiving dinner and Sharper Impressions said it would be done. My family room, laundry room and half bath were the only things finished!! They ended up sending a second crew after the holiday to finish the job. They finished it quick too quick. They missed spots, got paint all over the wood floor in the foyer and the baseboards were terrible. When asked about the baseboards the company told me it was my responsibility to have wiped down the baseboards. I wish the painters would have told me. I would have been happy to wipe them down but instead the painters just painted over them. I have a 100 lb yellow lab so I now have furry painted baseboards with dog hair stuck to them. I m so embarrassed and pray people don t notice when they come over! I would not recommend this company.

It went A-ok. The only problem was that they did not indicate that we needed two coats of paint on the ceilings so the price was a little higher than expected. We would recommend them.

The painters were wonderful and friendly, but I think they tried to cram too much work into each day to finish up, leaving them tired at the end of their long work day, with some messiness in the last room they painted. I would hire them again, but I would ask them to take longer and to not rush through the end of the last day of work.

The work detail was good, they did finish as promised although I did have to push a little bit. There could have been a delay or so. There was a bit of concern with the scheduling but they made my requirements and did a really good job.

The overall experience was ok. I felt like they could have been more careful. There was some overspray from the deck that got on the house. Its not a lot but I know its there. When they brushed the finish on the deck they also got a little bit on the house. They used a Sherwin-Williams product that I personally would not have used. It is now spotting. I'm now going to have to put on another coat myself.

We met with John Haas for an estimate, he was on time and gave us a detailed print out for the cost, which included a free Sherwin Williams color consultation. After we decided to book Sharper Impressions, the color consultant came out. We scheduled them for the paint job on a Friday and Saturday. On Friday the first crew arrived over an hour late, and did a poor job, leaving lint in the paint job. On Saturday the crew called three hours after they were supposed to be at the house and said they weren't coming because they were going to a Buckeye game. I found this an unacceptable excuse. We called the project manager, Joe, as well as John. They tried very hard to get a crew out to our house, but were unable to find one. They tried to get one for Sunday, but as they don't work on Sundays, they were unsuccessful. Finally, a second crew, Ray's crew, came out later that week. Ray's crew was great. We received a discount for the inconvenience. It took Ray's crew 3 days to finish.

They have excellent prices. We are going to use them again.

Overall, the work was very nice. Daily cleanup was minimal, but the cleanup at the end was pretty thorough. Some small spots were missed, and we didn't notice until after our walk-through. Quality was good and the job looks very nice.

The paint was applied on a chilly day as three sprayed coats in a single day. The instructions on the paint said 24 hours were to be allowed between coats in that temperature range. I left a message on the main company line about my dissatisfaction (never heard from them). The paint ran down off the walls within a day or so after it was applied. Greg did return to fix these areas. Since each coat was not allowed to dry, the coverage is very bad. I complained to Greg about the coverage but was told any additional work would be at my expense. I gave a failing grade on their written satisfaction survey (never heard from them). The garage looks very shabby. Over the winter, the paint flaked off in areas, esp the garage door. As they have a 2 year guarantee on their work, I called in March and was told areas would be touched up when the weather warmed. It is now September and after many calls with quality manager Mike, repairs are still not done. He is now not returning my calls.

After I called them, John Haas came and met us. He was on time and explained the process clearly. He gave us a printed estimate on the spot from his computer in his car. As I had asked all the rooms and specific items (like wall paper removal) were separately priced. It helped me make a decision on removing the wall paper strips myself. That way I saved about $240! Their painting crew arrived on time and started the work promptly. As agreed to before, they patched all the nail holes and cracks on the dry walls. Within two days they completed all the work. Painting workmanship was good. They could've done a little better job in covering the furniture that was moved to the center of the room. I did find a thin layer of paint dust on a lot of surfaces that I cleaned up later. They had missed a couple of window sill edges. They promptly did those later. I would recommend them again and ask them to pay a little more attention to covering the furniture.

Overall it was a good experience. They had painted the neighbor's house the year before and had done well. I called for an estimate and John Haas made an appointment promptly. We agreed on a price and a time when it would be convenient for us to have the work done. The workers came promptly as was planned.

The grades stand for them self, it was a great experience both times.

EXCELLENT! FABULOUS! Last Spring, I received estimates from 4 painters (2/4 on Angie's List) including Sharper Impressions. After the free estimates, they were not only the best price (included 25% off from direct mail flyer) but the best value & professional package offer out of the 4 painters. I originally met with Keith Fisher, Sales Manager. He walked the perimeter, took digital photos, and sat down with me to discuss details, get Dublin references nearby, and gave me an estimate during the appointment. This is a professional company with Workers' Compensation who guarantee their paint job for 2 years and the paint they use is guaranteed for as long as you own the home. Joe Ventresco, Project Manager, was also very good and always available for questions and requests. Only 2 things that I would've changed: They promised 3 painters on both days (only 2 were there on the 1st day & 3 on the 2nd) and should've used a shop vacuum to clean up paint scrapings on patio/porch.

They did very good work - only time will tell on the quality. Ended up replacing more boards than on original quote. I know the true cost of the additional boards was $7.50 per; they charged $100 per. The painters were friendly and cleaned up at end of each day. Because the painters worked all over the house at the same time it was difficult to see if they were in fact putting on two full coats of paint. Called and manager came out and of course quickly agreed with everything head contractor said. Had a quick answer for everything. That was somewhat disconcerting.

They did a good job and they cleaned up after themselves. I had a good experience and I would recommend them.

From start to finish I was very pleased. The painters were punctual and nice to work with. They exceeded my expectations with clean up and professionalism.

All work was performed to complete satisfaction. The crew (subcontractor) headed by Justin was very neat and efficient. Returned all items that had to be moved to perform work to their original place. Would recommend this painting crew to anyone.
