It went great. They arrived on time, and explained the problem to me. I liked that there was 3 if them there: the husband and wife team, plus their trainee. They are a nice family run business and I'd use them again.

When I called Bottoms, I left a message. They responded in a timely manner and set up an appointment time covenient for me with a two hour window. They arrived within the appointed time window and inspected the dishwasher, determining that the motor needed replacement. This was right before the weekend prior to New Years day, so they were unable to get the cost for a new motor until after the New Year. They called me on January 2 with the cost for replacing the motor. I determined that the cost was too high to repair a ten year old dishwasher. I told the Bottoms representative to bill me for the service call, as I planned to replace the dishwasher with a new one. Bottoms met my expectations in every way.
Description of Work: They inspected the the dishwasher and determined that the motor, which also includes the pump as an integral part, needed to be replaced. Upon getting the cost to replace the motor, I decided to replace the dishwasher with a new one. The Bottom's representative agreed that replacement was the best alternative.

I have used Bottoms several times time and have always been pleased with their work. They are both knowledgeable and proficient.
Description of Work: The ice maker in my 3 year old GE profile frig was not working. They came out and defrosted it and replaced it. They told me if it didn't make ice with in 24hrs (no ice would mean it needs to be repaced) to call them back and they would be back out to replace it. Sadly no ice, so I called and they came out and replaced it. Ice maker works great now.

Have always been satisfied with their service.

My dryer was not drying my clothes. Dryer was only 6 yrs old and had never experienced any trouble. It was heating....i would open the dryer door and steam would hit me in the face...only problem was that it wasn't drying my clothes...Bottoms appliance came out and told me that it wasn't a problem with my dryer, but that my dryer vent was clogged...I asked if he did that kind of repair and he told me no. He was at my home for less than 5 minutes and charged me $75.00 and did NOTHING. I was very dissappointed in the customer service... I would not have charged money when I didn't perform ANY type of service.

There seems to be a problem with the company's advertised service areas. They advertise both on Angie's List and on their website as serving the Brentwood area but when I called them to ask about service, they told me they don't serve that area. I said "You don't serve the Brentwood area?" and the woman who answered said "No."

They are very astute and punctual. Their parts service is excellent. They usually have them already on their truck or they will have them direct shipped to us the next day. They are very knowledgeable and finished the repair the first time around.

This company was excellent from start to finish. The person who answered the phone was professional, made an appointment for service person to come within a few days. Two service people came on correct day and, as requested, called with ample time before coming to allow for me to make sure I was at home to receive them. The lady who led the team was very knowledgable and professional. She quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced two parts, one of which had supposedly been replaced in December by another company but, as I could easily see when it was removed from the refrigerator, either had not been replaced or had been replaced with an old, used part. Service was completed quickly and any debris was cleaned up. The refrigerator is working as it should. This is an excellent company and we will definitely use them again and recommend them.
Description of Work: Refrigerator was not cooling properly. Service person came on appointment date and within appointment time. She correctly diagnosed the problem and replaced two parts. Refrigerator now works beautifully once again.

We could not have had a better experience. I am thankful to Angies list as a resource to find this company.
Description of Work: The light in my upper oven was out and the assembly shorted out when I attempted a self-repair. I ordered the parts to replace it but was unsuccessful. The Bottoms team was able to diagnose it to a relay problem with the control panel, and realized the problem happened only if a lightbulb was installed, which completed the circuit. Although the repair was not complete, they have since ordered the control panel for a very reasonable price, and will return to complete the repair. They were very meticulous in their troubleshooting - took the required time for diagnostics instead of throwing parts at it. I was very impressed. Having been an aircraft mechanic, I know troubleshooting techniques very well. Their technique is very thorough and very possibly saved several hundred dollars in additional costs. Plus they set the oven up so it is still operational while waiting for parts to arrive.

I would highly recommend them. They had worked on our refrigerator before when we had the warranty. We had kept their little magnet. Now the warranty has run out. We called them to come back and work on our refrigerator again because we liked them so well when it was under warranty. They came about two months ago and worked on a defrost problem that we had in our ice maker in the freezer. The guy worked on it for a while. I can't remember what he charged, but it was very reasonable. We told them over the phone that the warranty had run out. They said that they liked to make sure that the people who have used them before are happy. So, they came and worked on it and charged us a very reasonable amount. Last week, we had the same problem again. So, we called them and they came back. They worked on it and charged us zero. They said that as long as they can fix the problem without having to order the parts, they never charge. I couldn't believe that. I was expecting a charge. When I asked the guy how much I owed them, he said nothing. He said that if they have to come back and order a part, then they would charge me. He said that it was the same problem and they did the same thing again what was done before. He said that he fixed it and I hope it remains. I could have tipped him, but I didn't do it and I should have. It was incredible that they came. We had really good luck.

They were awesome. They were just genuine people. They were just honest, fair and genuine. They quality of work was really good. I called them Saturday morning and they waited till Monday. They were pretty responsive. I am going to use them in the future. They did a really good job.

They came and were very professional. The dishwasher part was apparently serviced. Unfortunately, we noticed that the dishwasher was leaving a lot of food and not cleaning well after recall issue was addressed. So I called to inform them and they recommended that I clean the dishwasher with a bowl of vinegar. I stated that the dishwasher cleaned much better before the service. Please note that in the interim I had them come out to inspect why my refrigerator door was not closing and asked if they could check the dishwasher and they said it would be a separate charge. I was a little annoyed because the charge for leveling the refrigerator was $87.40. So I check the rotating arm in the dishwasher myself and found that one of the attachments that was removed during the service had not been snapped back down firmly. The dishwasher began to clean better once again. I was dissatisfied with the initial response of the woman (I believe owner) to my concern that there was a change in the cleaning of the dishwasher after the service. Not only did they not check it out independently, but came for another service and did not take the time to inspect their work that was an easy fix. Fortunately, my husband took the time to check.

Response from Bottoms Appliance Repair
We were initially contacted by the customer to perform a Bosch dishwasher recall on their Bosch dishwasher.The recall involves replacing the main control board on the control panel. There are no adjustments or removal of any internal washing parts. We performed the recall on May 4th. On May 24th, we were contacted again by the customer to service their Jenn Air refrigerator because the door wasn't closing properly. We were able to diagnose and solve the problem without replacing any parts. We charged 80 + tax. We believe this was a more than fair price to service their high-end refrigerator. The customer mentioned that her dishwsher wasn't cleaning as well as it used to. We educated her on the removal of phosphates from detergents and suggested trying some specific products to improve the washing performance. Due to the removal of phosphates from dishwashing detergents, we have several calls daily due to poor wash performance. We try to educate the customer and see if this solves their issue before charging them to service their unit. We indicated that the dishwasher recall performeded in early May which was covered by the maunfacturer would not cover a "poor washing" performance issue. We suggested she try the recommended products first - vinegar just being one option to help remove calcium and limescale buildup in the machine. Remember, during the recall we did not remove any wash arms or racks from the dishwasher - only replaced the board on the control panel on the outside of the door. The final result is that the customer was able to inspect thieir dishwasher and make a minor adjustment with out costing them anything - Mission Accomplished!

Overall, they were excellent to work with. It is not their fault that I did not ask about the dryer problem at the same time as the washing machine problem, and that cost me another $75 service charge. I might shop around on price, but I will not find anyone more competent or pleasant.
Description of Work: My first service call was for our dishwasher. The black plastic handle broke. Even though the part was very inexpensive on the internet, my husband persuaded me to hire someone who would actually know what they are doing. I am glad I did. Bottoms brought the part with them, based on my serial number, and installed it in 15 minutes. As a courtesy they showed me how to drain my LG washer filter. My second service call was a few weeks later for my LG washer. It would not empty the water. Again, they ordered the part and came and installed it within 10 days of my call. It took a few days to get the part, and then it took a few days for us to get our schedules together. They service a large area. While they were installing it, I told them about my dryer sensor not working and asked how expensive it would be to repair it. They told me $200 and that it was not grounded properly and that it was a fire hazard. My third service call was to replace the dryer sensor. They showed me that the broken part was being grounded by the motor frame. They replaced it. They also noted that the drum was making a lot of noise and fixed that (no parts required).

When we first contacted Mr. Bottoms about our repair the part was on backorder and according to the mfgr not available for an unreasonable (years) amount of time. Months later, after exhaustive internet research (I REALLY didn't want to replace the whole range because the top was busted), the part became available and Bottoms estimate for replacing it (labor included) was less than what we could order the part for (with shipping). So he must have good sources for parts : ) When the part arrived, the repair was completed without a hitch. I don't have much good to say about Amana appliances, but I know who I'll be calling for future repairs (and I'm sure there will be more...).
