Description of Work: A bid from Clutterbuster showed us Mr. Joe Carlson, a carpenter as well as a pressure washer, had superior skills. He and an apprentice completed the washing and went on to invent a very ingenious way to solve the Carpenter Wasps problem in the future. My husband asked him to complete several small carpentry projects under a separate bid. All work was completed in a timely and workman-like manor.

+ 5 moreIt went very smooth. Only problems were not his fault. Ceiling fan install turned out to be very unique. Took much longer than anticipated due to the way the old fans were hooked up. Joe did the equivalent work of adding a third fan but would not accept any extra money. He went way above what I would have expected to get those fans in.
Description of Work: Built/installed framed lattice under the porch. Replaced 10 feet of concrete walkway. Installed 2 ceiling fans. Repaired dry wall in the bathroom. Repaired large hole in finished wall of garage. Replaced track lighting. Repainted ceiling after roofer fixed leaks.

+ 1 moreThe gentleman was very personable. They were very quick to respond to our request for an estimate. He was very professional on how he organized the different prices on things. It was just he was too busy and had so much work to do that it was going to be like three weeks before he could help us, and somebody else was faster. I would definitely call him back if we needed some more work done. He also followed up, and not everybody follows up. If you don't pick them after you get an estimate, then you never hear from them again. I had promised him an answer on whom I was going to choose, and when I called him back, I think I got an answering machine, but he called me back just to confirm and he said that he appreciated the fact that I called and let him know. I would definitely use that kind of professionalism again. His professionalism and punctuality impressed me.
Description of Work: Clutterbusters gave me an estimate for handyman work, some minor construction type repairs and for tree and lawn work.

+ 1 morePros: Nice guy, trustworthy, honest and hardworking. Decent fence work. Cons: Shoddy brickwork, attention to detail on main focal items lacking.
Description of Work: Owner was always professional, punctual and usually fast on replies. I purchased the materials (fencing and bricks) and asked Clutterbusters to provide the labor. Overall, the fence portion was good, with issues of excessive gaps (an extra 3 inches) between a few fence posts, so pickets near those posts have an extra wide gap at one end. There were some real disappointments regarding the front wooden gates and the two brick columns for the rear entryway. I did the front brick columns but thought doing two more would be too time consuming. Owner gave me some suggestions for improvement on columns I did, since this was my first brick job but overall my workmanship was average. The ones Clutterbusters installed were downright sloppy. Granted, the bricks supplied were salvage bricks with slight variation in sizing but if I can do it nicely with those same bricks, they he should be able to also. Columns are only 4 ft tall but are twisted, bent (3 inches at least) and not very well aligned. He even reworked them 3x and they still look this way. Front wooden gate between brick columns had left and right swinging sides but there was at least a 3 inch gap between them when closed, so I couldn't mount any latches with such a wide gap. I had to build each one out and shim each a little to close the gap and make them presentable. Nothing worse than paying someone for work and then having to rework it yourself afterwards. If you want a fence, these guys might be acceptable but the brickwork is unacceptable. I hate to post such a unflattering review because owner is a good, hard-working honest guy but I don't think I will have them do any more work for me: every time I look at those rear columns, I wince.

+ 3 moreThe quote was reasonable and they were prompt. They came as scheduled and on time for the job. I didn't contract them as I didn't want to agree to a few terms. The estimator didn't spend a lot of time to access the job as he seemed experienced. He came at the earliest after my call and was professional. Due to a few disagreeing terms I will consider to use their services in future.
Description of Work: I received an estimate from Clutterbusters to re-screen a back porch, exterior carpentry work, exterior painting, deck and cabinetry, sometime end of July, 2011.

Knowing I had a home inspection looming, he made a few suggestions of some work I could do myself to keep some things from becoming an issue during the inspection. He completed the motor, thermostat, and eave vent installations in about 6 hours and everything looked great when he was done. I'd definitely do business with Clutterbusters again.
Description of Work: I had the motor and thermostat on an attic fan replaced and new eave vents cut and installed.

+ 5 moreHe came out on the first day to look at my assorted tasks. I received an estimate based upon each task. I could pick and choose which ones I wanted done. Work was scheduled with a confirmation call the day before. The work they originally did is complete and I am very satisfied with the work. I have asked for more repairs and those are now scheduled to be done this week. They have many years of experience in many facets of home repair and apply it when working in your home. By example, when installing shelving units, they actually make sure the screws and anchors are installed into the studs in the wall. All work is done the right way. I recommend them highly.
Description of Work: Clutterbusters has been an absolute joy to do business with. Not only is the work done correctly, they stand behind their work if not met with your satisfaction. They are professional and extremely knowledgeable. What's even better is that you can give them a key to your home and be on your way. Totally trustworthy. They have done work for a co-worker of mine - they feel the same way. THAT means a lot to me (and most people I know). You need not look any further to find someone for your home repairs.

+ 1 moreAlthough we elected not to have the work done at this time, we found the estimate to be reasonable in cost and comprehensive in scope. Joe is knowledgeable and personable. He showed up when he said he would and in fact, was a few minutes early and waited for me to arrive. The written estimate he provided was very professional, but still easily read and comprehended. We definitely plan to call Clutterbusters when we are ready to have the work done. I would recommend this company to anyone, but plan in advance. They are busy and can be difficult to contact, but worth the wait!
Description of Work: We requested an estimate for some masonry work, a fairly extensive french drain, to have a cabinet in our kitchen moved and to have some moldy trim repaired and replaced. We also asked Clutterbusters to look at an unfinished pool deck that needs repairs and modifications due to a previous contractor's mistakes.

+ -1 moreJoe was an absolute lifesaver! We bought a Little Tikes wooden kitchen to give our granddaughter for Christmas. In all the reviews of the kitchen, the consistent negative was how difficult it was to assemble, one person taking over 7 hours. Knowing my mechanical abilities, and only having a month and a half until Christmas, I knew I needed help but wasn't sure who to call. I looked under handymen and decided to try Clutterbusters with this odd request. Joe returned my call right away even though it was an out of town area code. I explained what I needed and he agreed. He came right on time and assembled the toy kitchen. It looks great and after observing all the screws and parts, he was worth everything I paid. We had agreed on a price but I paid extra because he was so helpful and the kitchen turned out so well. I have another small job that I've already set up a time for him to come. It's nice to find someone who is willing to do a small job that was out of the ordinary.
Description of Work: Joe put together a child's kitchen toy to be given as a Christmas present.

He did everything that people said he would do. His estimates were wonderful. He knew what he was talking about it and I was very pleased. He seems very professional.

+ 4 moreFor the leak, he explained what he thought it was and told us what to do to take care of it. He is so thorough, he really knows his business. He is going to school right now taking a lot of classes on construction. He knows a lot about houses, etc. I asked him to give me the positives and negatives of staining a deck. He told me in detail how I could do it myself, rather than saying we could just hire him. He told me what I need to do, what to get, what tools to get, where to start and where to finish. He is really, really good. His son came with him the day he came to do the work and he is a really nice boy. I was so impressed with him the first time and that's why I went back to him. One day he was late and he called to let me know he would be and exactly what time he would get here. He asked me if that would be okay and if I would still be here, which I was.
Description of Work: Clutterbusters replaced some rotting boards in the deck, patched up a place where rodents had chewed up in the attic, took care of buckling of the tape under our paint and he replaced base boards that our dog had chewed up. He also took a look at something that looked like a leak in the ceiling of our bathroom.

+ -1 moreThis work needed to be done in a hurry, before the contracted painters could pressure wash and paint the house. I called Joe, whom I had never contacted before.(Found him on Angie's List). He was able to determine over the phone that it would probably be a small (one hour) job. Because I needed the work done right away, he was able to come by at the end of his work day (the following day) and take care of it. He was quick, prompt and professional and also advised me on some other issues with the exterior of the house, as well as recommending other vendors for work he does not cover. I wish I had found him before. I will definitely use his services in the future

+ 0 moreOnce Joe and his team started working on our ceiling he discovered that it didn't need as much work as originally estimated. He gladly readjusted his estimate to reflect the work that needed to be done. In addition to repairing the ceiling, we also wanted to replace an old 1950's exhaust fan with a lighting fixture. Joe took the time to research the city's code for us before starting the project to ensure there would not be any problems with inspectors when it came time to sell the house. Working with Clutterbusters was a great experience. They were on time, professional and in our opinion went "above and beyond". We have finally found a reliable handyman service and will absolutely call Clutterbusters for all of our home repair needs.
Description of Work: Joe repaired our kitchen ceiling that had water damage from a previous roof leak. He installed a lighting fixture in the kitchen and repaired several areas around the roof line of our home that had rotting wood.

+ 0 moreIt went very well. Joe was very easy to work with. He called to confirm appointments and showed up exactly when he said he was going to. A few days after coming over to see the work that needed to be done he emailed a very detailed estimate of the work. After comparing Joe's estimate against other estimates I decided to give the work to Joe. I mailed Joe a check for the supplies (wallboard and paint) and after he completed the work I paid him the balance of what was due.
Description of Work: My kids bathroom toilet overflowed and came through my master bedroom ceiling. Approximately a 4'x10' section of ceiling was damaged. Joe replaced the damaged wallboard, blended in the seams, and painted the repaired section to match the rest of the ceiling.
