 + -1 moreI bought a sewer camera scope and cleaning through Angies List Bil Deal. Travis came out and did the inspection and cleaning. Turns out my troubles had more to do with bad toilets than trouble in the sewer line. Travis did clear out some roots for me from a tree that I had recently cut down anyway so the roots probably wont come back. I appreciate his honesty and he didn't over sell me on anything. He was a few hours late for the scheduled time, otherwise i would have given Travis straight A's.

He did several other minor jobs. Very pleased. THe day after, I received a call from the office making sure we were pleased with the work and technician. Nice touch for such a small job.

They charged additional labor for the cost of the additional work despite the fact that it took the same amount of time it would have taken for the basic toilet tune up.

Description of Work: This was a "toilet tuneup", offered at a fixed price. Since we had been having problems with one of our toilets, i.e. not flushing well, or consistently, I thought this would be a good opportunity to have a professional look at the problem. The technicain was punctual and professional, and he replaced the flapper ball and did a leak check. When asked about the flushing problem, he only offered possibilities, as if he had no idea what could be causing it. I was left only with the choice of another plumber visit, but no real diagnosis. Barely worth the $25 since I could have done this work myself.

 + 1 moreThey claimed they could replace it. Instead they fixed it. He then talked me into replacing my house pressure reducer. I felt it was overpriced and on top of that the new one did not fit right. He used a piece of plastic piping instead of copper piping. He cut off the ground that had been using the copper pipe. I ended up having the fix the problem myself. He also looked at replacing a water heater but never got back to me on that.
Description of Work: I had them come out to fix a drip in my outdoor faucet.

 + 0 moreProfessional, knowledgeable & courteous. Did a good job on the faucet, but told me I needed a water pressure regulator. I told him I'd think about it. When I checked myself I found I do have a pressure regulator, that he didn't notice in the inspection. Seems like he should have seen it. I looked on line to see what it looked like and immediately found it in my crawlspace.

 + 0 moreThey were prompt and communicated with me, the tech was professional and courteous and did exactly what I expected and no more.
Description of Work: I used their hot water services based on an Angie's List special. I expected to be sold stuff I didn't necessarily need (or want). but this was not the case. Bill, the tech did exactly what was advertised for and that was to flush out and service my hot water heater. He was professional, courteous, punctual and easy to talk to. He showed me what he did and what I might need for the future, but at not time did he try to sell me anything more than what i asked for. This was a welcome relief and a breath of fresh air as today many companies use these ads as loss leaders into bigger and way more expensive jobs. As such I will use them again and if I ever need a hot water heater or someone to service it I will call Provident again and again. A good honest company is very hard to come by these days and I appreciate it when I find one and find it appropriate to share this info with people. I rely so heavily on reviews that I feel the need to share my experiences with others. I don't think you can go wrong with Provident.

I requested the plumber bring the upgrade frost free faucet so I could see the difference and decide at time of installation. Plumber was on time and completed the work in about 1/2 hour. He also gave me an estimate for installing an additional outside faucet by my driveway.
Description of Work: Plumber removed the old outside hose faucet and installed new frost proof faucet. The upgrade was at my request.

 + -1 moreA few minutes after arriving he had to go to a supply house on the other side of town to buy a flange he broke. Since he was going to the parts house, he checked a bath tub faucet stem washers at my request. He broke one of the stems and told me he had to do a shower rebuild because he broke the divereter valve too. The man gave me a price which he said was standard, but I later learned he lied about the pricing. Three to four hours later he returned. I was without water all this time. He set the toilet and did the rebuild. The commode was 1/4" to 1/2'' off from fhe floor. The tub faucet leaked all night. Called Provident Plumbing the next day and the owner came with a real plumber and fixed the problems. The owner apolgized for the workmanship. PROVIDENT PLUMBING INVOICE BREAK DOWN GERBER ELONGATED TOILET $221.99 FLANGE REPLACEMENT & SET TOILET 574.OO 3 HANDLE SHOWER REBUILD 545.60 THIS WAS REPLACING 3 STEMS SERVICE MEMBERSHIP 83.40 THIS ENTITLED ME TO A 15% DISC. TOTAL $1,424.99 --357.00 ADJUSTMENT WITH LETTER STATING "CASHING THIS CHECK WILLSERVE AS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY FOR OUR COMPANY'
Description of Work: I saw the GREAT $199.99 DEAL on Angies List for a Gerber toilet. An appointment was set up with Provident Plumbing, aka, AGS Installations. A plumber (a disgrace to the plumbing industry, in my opinion) arrived and began the insallation.

 + -1 morePlumber showed up on time but was unable to find the leak in the toilet flush tank... he used a blue dye to detect the leak but it did not catch anything... 3 months later and the leak still exists and I can hear the water running through the flushing system when it does. I have to manually adjust the flush handle to get it to stop. Doesn't happen all the time but when it does it is really annoying and if I don't adjust it will keep going until a later flush somehow corrects the flushing system. I don't blame the plumber but it's disappointing that he was unable to pinpoint the exact source of the problem.

 + 0 moreI called and scheduled an appointment for the same day. Shortly thereafter, Kim called from the office to say a tech (Mike) had finished early and was available immediately. Mike was very personable and professional, making an initial inspection, drawing up three possible options, and counseling me on what each option meant for my situation. The repair was completed in a timely manner. I am very pleased with the service. Side-note: After reading countless reviews of companies on this list, I was extremely impressed by the professionalism and commitment to quality and detail found in the company responses to reviews. Having worked for many years in service based industries, I chose Provident finally because of those company responses and the obvious attention to customer satisfaction found in them.
Description of Work: The old cast iron drain pipe from the kitchen sink was leaking. I was given three options for repairs ranging from a "band-aid" repair with epoxy ($130), to a partial replacement of the main fitting ($955), to replacing all the existing cast iron ($2255). After further closer inspection of the leak, it was determined to be <1/4" in size, so we tried the epoxy. Worth a try before attempting far more substantial and expensive work. The repair appears to be holding, and if, in the future, further work is still necessary, I haven't invested a great deal of money.

Their follow up could have been better and they needed to come back and fix something that ended up only taking 2 minutes.
Description of Work: They did the work for the Big Deal. They also gave me a quote for a sink installation and it was extremely over-priced. I ended up having it performed for a fraction of the cost.

 + -1 moreProvident Plumbing removed our old one and installed a new toilet, fillingin for another plumber who was unable to perform due to health reasons. Ithought they understood that we wanted a chair height fixture, but theybrought out the standard height. They charged an extra $50 for the chairheight model (OK by us). It took several days to obtain the fixture. Theywanted to charge $65 to replace the supply line between the wall and thetank, but I got one at Home Depot for less than $5, which they installed forno cost. They offered to replace our whole house PCV which was not workingfor $485, but a local plumber did it for $275. After the toilet wasinstalled the tank flap leaked and Provident corrected that promptly.] I wouldn't hire them again because they are not local.

 + -1 moreI was very pleased with the service performed on the toliet bowl repair. I did ask for a quote for a repair to a drainline to my dishwasher and felt it was a little high. I shopped around and received a much better price for that work somewhere else and elected to use a different company for that work.

The next day the owner and an experienced plumber looked at the work and apologized for the workmanship. The experienced plumber had to replace the flange for the toilet because the other guy did it wrong. He reset the toilet and now it's on the floor as it should be. He also put a decorative rim around the tub faucet, and it looks very good. The owner gave a $357 credit on labor for the toilet. I told him I appreciated the credit, but thought the credit should be more because $545.60 was outrages to replace valve stems. HIS REPLY...............I HAD TO SEND OUT 2 PLUMBERS AND THAT COSTS MONEY!!!! Why did you have to send the experienced plumber? I trusted the first guy and that was a BIG mistake! I'm a Senor Citizen and he took advantage of the situation. TOTAL PRICE $1065.99
Description of Work: After seeing the $199.99 Gerber toilet special on ANGIES LIST, I called and set up an appointment with Provident Plumbing, aka, AGS installations, to install an elongated toilet for an extra $22. The plumber (a disgrace to the plumbing profession) started working and within a few in minutes said he had to leave for a part because a flange broke. Since he needed a part and had to go to a parts house, I asked him to put new washers on the faucet bath stems, and if he thought they need to be replaced to please replace them. A little later he told me he broke a valve stem and would need to do a shower rebuild because he broke the diverter valve too. He gave me a price which he said was standard pricing for all customers. But for $83.40 he could sign me up for a discount plan, which I bought. I learned later he lied about standard pricing, he made up the price. Three to four hours later he returns. I have no water all this time. He replaced the tub stems and told me he would be back the next day to set the toilet. The tub faucet had a steady leak stream all night. He returned the next day sets the toilet.and fixed the leak. The toilet is 1/4 to a 1/2" off the floor with sticky stuff around the toilet base. Provident Plumbing billed me $574 to set the toilet in addition to $219.99 for the ANGIES SPECIAL. Provident Plumbing charged $545.60 to install the valve stems on the bathtub. TOTAL PRICE $1422.99

 + -1 moreIt went great - John was curteuos and professional from the beginning and worked clean and fast to get me on my way to work. Couldnt be happier with the result. John is clean cut and professional looking - possibly the cleanest/neatest plumber I have ever met. He is respectful and curteous, I would have no problem with John doing work on the house while I was away. I was pleasantly surprised with how quick they called me to schedule the work from the Angies list coupon. The only downside was when they called to schedule on a Wednesday they told me John would call Thursday which didnt happen. At first all I knew was that he'd arrive between 8-10am Friday. I asked for as early as possible, and John called at 9am to say he was on his way likely to arrive by 9:30am. I am always baffled by contactors who cant give you an exact arrival time in advance for the first job of the day. We will use Provident Plumbing again in the future and are actually looking at another one of their Angies list coupons. John also left us with other Provident Coupons for the future.
Description of Work: Used the Provident Plumbing Angies List coupon for the hose bibb replacement - paid the additional $30 for the frost proff bibb to be installed.
