"My mother contracted with him, Chris Tobiaz, on 6/27/24 for a $6400 window replacement job for a trailer. 5 small windows that he said would be done in 6-8 weeks...she gave him a $3200 deposit check which was cashed in a couple days. Then got excuse after excuse as to why he couldn't come each time he scheduled. As of 9/2/24, he totally ghosted her and me. Would not answer his phone, or return texts or voicemails. We just contacted his Mezzo window supplier Alside, hoping they lean on him for our refund. If we get no satisfaction from them, we will be pursuing judgements against him, his company and vendor who he told us he already bought the windows from. We will also contact SC consumer protection and licenses and permits to have his license pulled, if he even has one. STAY AWAY!!!"

My name is Roland Shaw and I have been in the construction business for 15 years. 3 years ago I started business for myself and have been overwhelmed by the amount of personal referrals I get. I take pride in my work and company. I am usually a one man team but if the job requires more than just myself I have a few quality workers I hire out. I do not charge any delivery fees, trip charges or any other hidden fees. Estimates are always free! I am licensed in SC, Horry county and major cities in the area. I am insured up to $2million!

Shade and Shutter expo provides design, measuring and installation for blinds, shades, plantation shutters and bahama shutters, awnings ,hurricane protection and solar /porch shades. Additional email - julie@shadeandshutterexpo.com. Additional contact name - Julie Fergus.

"I strongly recommend you look for your shades or blinds elsewhere. Shade and Shutter Expo does not honor their guarantee or stand behind their product or workmanship. We were looking for room-darkening remote shades for our house, beginning with the MBRM windows. We priced a couple of other places and decided to go with them even though they were a little more expensive than our other quotes. We chose this because of the guarantee they offered during the sales pitch which I felt put them a little above the rest. We were just a little underwhelmed by the quality of the shades for the high price we paid for them. I was expecting more of a textured finish. But that aside, our real problem came after installation. To make a long story short, they measured/cut the shades too narrow. I complained several times over the next 6 months, starting on the very day they were installed. Way too much light was coming in on the sides (especially when you consider how much extra we paid for room-darkening). They said it’s because they had to cut them short because of a door handle on 1 of the 5 windows. First of all, there was still room to have allowed more fabric on that window…..and the other 4 windows had NO handle to work around, so that excuse fell short. I tried to get use to them. I called back a few months later in tears of frustration that my sleep was being interrupted at daybreak every single day. They came out and looked, then said they’d go back and talk to the boss and get back to me. I never heard from them again. So for TWO YEARS NOW, I lie there’d every morning in frustration as the sun comes through and wakes me up. I have to pull the covers up over my head, which usually makes me feel like I’m suffocating. So then I try building a “wall” of pillows on either side of my head to block the light and try to get back to sleep. I can’t begin to imagine how many hours of sleep I have lost over the past two years. I curse their name every morning of my life as I fight this battle, as well as every time I see their commercial or drive by their store. So DO NOT believe the promises during their sales pitch, or count on service-after-the-sale. We planned to have all the windows on the back side of our house done…..but I assure you it will be by someone other than them."

"Excellent service, prompt, professional and honest. My garage door motor went bad and even though it was an old and obsolete motor, A&A replaced it in about 20 minutes, verified the old warranty and did the work without charge. They did the original installation many years ago and did an excellent job. It was refreshing to see that the company remains friendly, professional and honest ! I highly recommend!"

Our goal is not necessarily to be the biggest construction company in the area, but to be regarded as a business run with integrity. With a quality staff that has the best interests of the customer in mind, All American Restoration and Stone Boutique, is proud to stand on the tradition, and base on the belief to "treat others as you yourself would want to be treated".

"The communication was the best I’ve ever had dealing with a contractor. I was 3 hours away and he sent pictures and responded immediately Always. Chris and Bre were awesome. I can’t say enough about how prompt and attentive they were to every detail. A remodel is hard enough under normal situations but being miles away added to it. I just came down to see it in person and it’s beyond my expectations. They even found some of the items I selected on sale and passed the savings to me."

Door services FAQs

It’s usually better to repair damaged interior doors and replace damaged exterior doors, but it depends on the type and extent of the damage. Damage to interior doors won’t threaten your home’s security, so if a repair or partial replacement of only the door (not replacing the door frame) is possible, that route should save you some money. Damage to an exterior door can compromise your home’s security, so it’s often better to replace it entirely, especially if there’s frame damage. You can ask your door installer which course of action is best for your situation.

The average cost to install a door is around $1,100, but you could pay anywhere from $150 for a hollow-core interior door installation up to $2,000 or a high-end exterior door installation. There are a few cost factors to consider to get an accurate price, including whether your wall opening exists, the type of door, the quality and security of the door, whether you need to replace the frame, and the door size. You can expect to pay $150 to $700 for a standard 36-by-80-inch door and between $400 and $1,600 for an 80-by-48-inch door.

If you’re replacing an interior door, it’s best to get the work done in the summer or winter, as door installation professionals are the least busy during these seasons and might charge lower labor costs based on the decreased demand. You can also potentially save money by hiring a professional to install your exterior door during these seasons, but most homeowners wait until the spring or fall so that the extreme temperatures don’t put added strain on their HVAC systems while the door is being added or replaced.

Door installation usually takes three and four hours, including removing the old door and frame, fitting the new door and frame in place, shimming it to make sure it’s perfectly level, and making adjustments to the hinges and locking mechanisms to ensure proper functionality. A door-hanging professional can replace an interior door in between one and two hours. Door installation will take significantly longer if your installer needs to create a wall opening, and it can take less time if the existing door frame remains.

It’s possible to install a door yourself if the wall opening already exists, but the work is rather complicated, and a professional installation is usually well worth the investment. For your door to work and close properly, you’ll need to shim and level the door frame in your wall perfectly, which can be difficult. Additionally, we recommend you always hire a professional door installer to place an exterior door, as mistakes during the installation process can lead to poor security for your home.
