Description of Work: I called out Blake & Sons due to a two year old HVAC system that wasn't keeping our home cool at all. | |We needed to just find out what the issue was with the quickness. | |They came out and checked the system out from top to bottom and noted the freon was overcharged. After getting the level back to specification, the technician advised us to contact them if it didn't solve the problem by the next day. | |It did not solve the problem, and the technician researched our units by serial number checking for recalls and found none. | |He had narrowed it down to two other options for fixes and was over first thing in the morning to try one out. | |Lo and behold, it worked. | |Now, we have a much cooler home and Blake and Sons to thank for it. | |They will be my go-to provider from here on out.

Description of Work: I contacted Blake and Sons during a heatwave. I made an appointment for the next day. Shortly before their scheduled arrival they made a courtesy call to tell me they were running late. | |Their service seemed to be as thorough as from others we have hired in the past. I really expected to hear an expensive recommendation to replace one of our aging units - but actually they suggested against it for now. They did some minor maintenance and added refrigerant. They said to give them a call if this didn't solve the problem and they'd come back. So far there has been no need to call them!

Description of Work: Ryan very quickly discovered a bad squirrel cage fan. He gave me an estimated cost and time of return with the new part. He also replaced a damper closer, a part that I already had on hand. He offered to do it for no charge; however I insisted he be paid for the labor.

Description of Work: Advertized on Angie's list that this $ 99 thermostat install (including the thermostat) was available for 11 more days; however, When I left a message for him to call me to schedule a thermostat install (including the thermostat) it, he returned my call promptly and said, "I'm not offering that any more". He was adamant that he was not going to provide what he advertized as available within the time frame (11 more days) that I contacted him. He also said he couldn't book on Thursday or Friday and that Monday was "too far away" to schedule a time. I got the feeling that he preferred not dealing with Angie's List customers if he can get customers elsewhere, although he didn't say that.

Description of Work: We were experiencing a problem with mildew growth on the vents on one level of our house. A company that does duct cleaning suggested the problem may have started with the air conditioning, so we called Blake and Sons. They inspected the grills(vents)and had me clean one of them off. Come to find out that it was a lot of dirt and only a small amount of mildew! The ducts had a lot of dirt in them, too. They crawled up into the attic to see what we had in the way of outside vents, and then cleaned the compressor coils on both units(since we have two units they gave us a discount of 25%) and added freon to both units as well. They were knowledgeable and pleasant and took the time to explain the workings of our system to us as well as inspect it from one end to the other. In the past I have never had HVAC company that didn't need to replace some expensive part for reasons that seemed undefinable to me. I trusted these individuals and they are now my " go to" company for all my heating and air conditioning needs.
