About us

In 1985 John and Stella Owens created Owens Plumbing Company as a start up company serving the CSRA with John operating the service truck and Stella in the office. With a philosophy of customer service first, quality products a must, the company grew quickly. Owens Plumbing established itself as a Premier plumbing service and repair company over the next 10 years. For 5 years Owens Plumbing was a member of Contractors 2000 a professional business trade organization; Mr. Owens learned to implement many new systems into the company, designed to improve the delivery of superior service and greater customer satisfaction. In 1999 Owens Plumbing joined Clockwork Home Services, a national training company. Here Mr. Owens graduated from many classes including Accounting, Marketing, Sales, Management, professional Plumbers levels 1 and 2. In 2006 he purchased a Benjamin Franklin Franchise, dedicated to on time appointments and superior guarantees. Using the same owners, managers, and great employees from Owens Plumbing Company, he has now made a full conversion to the Benjamin Franklin Plumbing systems. We are proud to be in the top 25 plumbing companies in the Benjamin Franklin Organization. When the next plumbing emergency needs professional attention, give us a chance to prove that great employees, quality products and superior guarantees lead to a more than satisfied client.

Description of Work: I had an outside spicket that was broken. Since I had used this company before and had a coupon, I phoned my problem in, was given a 4 hour time window along with the disclosure that there is an up front "dispatch" fee along with how much it will cost when the plumber arrives. I have used this company before and since I had a coupon for the waiver of the "dispatch" fee, I phoned them this time. The plumber was very professional, wore a uniform and diagnosed the problem to let me know how much it would cost to repair the spicket. In the middle of working on the spicket, the plumber said he needed to go back to the office as he needed something that he didn't have in the truck and was gone for over an hour. I remembered this same thing happened the last time they were at our house for a repair. The cost was $285 without the "dispatch" fee. I felt this was a little high.

Description of Work: They replaced a water heater with a tank less water heater. They came on Friday, removed the old tank from the attic, capped all of the lines and came back Monday and installed the tank less water heater. Very professional, cleaned up and did a good job.

Overall, everything went fine. The plumber showed up on time, and got right to work. He was finished about 2.5 hours after getting started, which based on the fact it was a very cold day and he had to wait for PVC glue to dry, was very reasonable. I called Benjamin Franklin (a.k.a. Owen's Plumbing) on Monday around noon, and they had a plumber out first thing the next day. He quickly surmised there was too much water pressure to the house, therefore popping the pressure relief valve on the water heater. He changed the pressure reducer valve and fixed the problem. Unfortunately, in situations like these, it's hard to know if you're paying too much or not. It wasn't like I was going to call two or three different plumbers and get estimates from them. The trip fee from multiple plumbers would have offset any savings I would have realized, so I went with the estimate Benjamin Franklin gave me. The cost of $360 seems a bit steep for 2.5 hours of work (not including trip time), but at least I don't have a stream of hot water running down my sidewalk. And let's face it, when you're in over your head on a problem, it's best to pay for a professional and bite the bullet. I would recommend them based on punctuality, quality of work, communication, responsiveness and professionalism. Frankly, I don't know if I paid too much or not, so it's difficult to give an honest opinion on cost.
Description of Work: I had water continually leaking from the pressure relief valve on my water heater. I tried to fix the problem myself, but to no avail.

I'll never use him again. I'm handicapped and I can't do it most of my own work. They charged me something like $600 or $700 to do it. As I couldn't do I had to have someone do it for me. The workmanship was great. I had no problems with that, but it's the money. I had to sign a release before they did it. I knew what it was going to cost me before they did, but I had no choice at the time. Their price was very high. I think it was $655 to just change that. They were prompt. Everything was nice and they did a good job cleaning. I had no problems with their work. I didn't like the price, but their quality of work was excellent.
Description of Work: I used the services of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing - N Augusta 2 or 3 weeks ago. I had the faucet in my bathtub and sink fixed.

We call them all the time because they are reliable, they do a good job, and they are reasonably priced. If we have an emergency like a stuffed up toilet they will send somebody out right away. We would tell others that apart from them being reliable, they are knowledgeable about what the problem is and they get it done quickly. We spent about $75 on the last job they did and we guess that it is the going price. The quality always seems to be very good and they fix the problem.
Description of Work: We use Owen's Plumbing for pluming services. The last time we used them was probably last year sometime because we had a stuffed up toilet or something.

The price was really high. They came right when I needed them. I know them and this is the first time I've found them overpriced so I would probably give them another chance.

Punctual and professional. Did a very good job in replacing the water heater. Seems pricey for a water heater with a 6 year guarantee.

They did a really good job. They were really sweet to me. They came right away all the way from downtown. They were very prompt. It is quite a drive from there. He fixed it right away. He knew what he was doing. He was competent. I would use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Benjamin Franklin Plumbing - N Augusta for fixing a leak in my front yard. I had a broken main water line in the front of my house. They dug it up and replaced the valve. I last used their services about a year ago.

I had another company clean the drain about six weeks before that, and that company didn't do their job. Owen's Plumbing took longer, and I paid about three times as much. However, he made sure that the job was done and that the drain was clean. I think they're a good, reputable company. My father has used them for years. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for.

He left to get the toilet and said he?d be back, but he didn?t come back for 3-4 hours. I was left wondering what had happened to him. He came back only by about 8 o?clock at night. He showed up on time the first time, though. We haven?t had any problems with the toilet, and my experience with him was fine overall.
Description of Work: I used Owen's Plumbing to replace the toilet in my powder room with a heavy premier toilet. He also augered out the toilet in the master bath which was not flushing properly.
