His price was too high so I did not use him. He was a good guy and the overall experience was good but his price was too high. I would consider having them bid again in the future.

They are wonderful and have been wonderful. The workers who come out are wonderful too. They are motivated and they leave the yard clean; they are self-starters. They do exactly what they are going to say and what I have contracted them for. The estimate has come right in and I pay by the estimate. They are great. I would use their services again in the future. The owner is even worried about my timer being sent. He wants to come out and double check for me. They are really good.

Working with Larry was a pleasure. As the owner of the company he took great pride to make sure that the plan was followed to our specifications and was completed on budget. His employees were an asset and a pleasure to work with as well. As long as Larry is in the picture you can count on getting the results and service you deserve.

No doubt that this company is worth of trust and dependability. Larry and his workers are fully professional when it comes to yard work. After they completed grading our yards they appreciated in looks, 10 folds. The work was performed not only well done but also at a fast pace. My appreciation to Larry for his tips on how to improve my yard on my own time.

Old South has done our lawn maintenance for approximately one year. They did very good work last year. Owner would respond to emails promptly. This year is different. I am not sure what has happened, but over the past month or so, my emails to the owner have been ignored. I asked him a month ago if they were interested in giving us a quote for sod in my back yard and never got a response. Several times, I asked them to come back and weed eat the back yard area behind my fence as agreed upon, and this was never done, and again, there was no response to my emails. Even if they had a problem receiving emails, I wrote a note with my most recent payment to them about the back yard problem, and again, no response. Looking back, the owner had given me a quote for extending my sprinkler system to the outside area by my driveway, and there were problems getting them to complete this job. Once it was done, it worked just fine, and I have no complaints about the lawn maintenance they have done on my front yard, but I can't continue to pay a company that does not respond, and does not complete the lawn maintenance as agreed. I really wish things didn't have to turn out this way. Unfortunately, we had to let Old South go from both locations - my home and my office. I have no hard feelings, I just don't understand what happened. I wish them the best in the future.

He is not scheduled to do the work until the next week. I have always asked him for additional work. The quote was about $600 for two parts of the work. He is very pleasant and quick to understand what is needed. He got back very promptly with the quote. He appeared to be quite competent and very personable as well. He is very response, and answered the call quickly.

I also received a quote for sprinkler installation for the end of March, but to this date, it has not been done. I have been told they are short on manpower right now. I'm a little frustrated that I have had to keep asking when they are going to do this work, and getting the same answer that someone will contact me. I have been pleased with their service up to this point, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt for the next few weeks. I really hope they come through, because I like their work.

Larry has been the best to work with. We have had to deal with the county and the water company. He was with us every step of the way. He has been helpful in getting to resources as well as doing the job itself. We are close to getting through this mess only because Larry was there to help. He shows up on time, does what he says, and has a good group of workers. You cannot go wrong with this company and its owner.

A tree removal company was paid to take down trees, remove roots, and leave clean...which they did not do. OSL crew came in to prep for a large swing set for my granddaughter. They came in with 1 day notice and did work that no other company would do. There were huge hover bees that had made nests underground where dead roots were covered over. The bees don't sting, but they hover close to you as you work. (This is where I lost two other companies that were willing to do the clean up work ONLY if I had the bees removed.) The Old South crew came in and worked hard...bees all around. They dug up the roots by hand to remove their nests; the men didn't get stung, and we haven't seen anymore hover bees since that day. When the swing set arrived, the yard was clean - the OSL owner was on site to make sure everything was going ok and to plan what was next. We went with sod so the baby could have an instant place to run, and a soft place to fall. The owner and crew preped for the installation of the sod and installed fresh cut sod same day. They came back to check on things to make sure the homeowners were watering correctly. They did landscaping on the side of the house and some in the front; and the company does regular maintenance on the lawn. We have plans to do more landscaping in the front and install more sod; plus make a natural area where grass refuses to grow. This will take place at the best time for the plants. I plan to install a irrigation system at some point. I am almost 62 and this is the first company of any kind that has ever done what they said, when they said, for the amount they said, and even do more than they said! The owner worked well with me and quickly made me feel he cared about me and my budget; the safety of my granddaughter; how and when we would move forwad with other projects; he worked well with the homeowners and their schedules; and, he was always a phone call away for questions. I also liked that he takes good care of his employees and they respect him. I wish OSL would start a branch at Lake Norman! The owner and crew become like family - nice people who work hard, rain or shine!

I bought a house recently, my first one, and oh the fun times it has been. All the interior work aside, I needed to do something about my jungle of a backyard. It was getting way out of hand, well it was already way out of hand. The previous owners looked like they did about zero yard work in the past 3 years. So the back was a disaster. One of those things you look at, and just have this overwhelming sense of dread. Something had to be done. So I called Old South and they came out and gave me an estimate. The estimate was quite reasonable for doing some leveling and getting rid of all the...stuff. So I called to set up an appointment but the owner was out with a stomach virus, so I had to wait a few weeks. I wasn't worried, as it (the jungle) wasn't going anywhere. So they setup a day, and I was called into work that morning. So I told them I wouldn't be there and they said thats fine we will likely have it done before your back. And they did. They performed what i wanted to do, for a great price. They left the Invoice on the door, and I mailed them a check. You know a place is reliable if they let you do that :) I would and often do recommend them to friends and neighbors who need lawn service done. I will use them again when it comes time to take a stab at another section of yard.

We have been very pleased with their service. They delivered when they said they would, at the price quoted in a very professional manner. I think what worked best for us was having a clear understanding of the scope of the work, the deliverables and timeframes, so there could be no surprises at the end, and both us as the homeowner and Old South as the contractor would have met each other's expectations. Any issues that arose during the last project, having to do with the weather, which was the full design and installation of a one acre landscape, were handled promptly and professionally.

Installation plan not followed. Irrigation buried at 2-6 inched deep. Valves improperly installed. No response for Old South after he was mistakenly paid by builder. Absolutely nothing professional about the work performed the ownership or employees.

The owner is very nice easy to communicate with and he got the job done. Came out gave an estimate and his guys showed up on time and did a great job.

They dug a brand new bed, took out a bunch of old bushes, trimmed the bushes and also replanted some plants. Larry Harrison is the owner and he is a gem. He and I went on a field trip to a couple of nurseries to pick up some plants. We then came back and planted them. He is also working on our irrigation system to repair it, as one of the zones isn’t working. I want to use their services for quite some time. They have right now finished working on the front yard and I will have them work on the back yard next. They haven’t come out to finish the work on our irrigation system. We are not in a hurry to fix the irrigation system because of the rain. I bought the plants separately and it’s not included in the amount paid to them. I felt that the price paid was good. They said that they would do the work relating to the pine straw for less. The guys who did the pine straw might have got the work done for lesser amount if I told them what I wanted them to do. I could have told them what I wanted, but I was looking for the dine expertise as well. They are absolutely super when it comes to the quality of their work. Larry Harrison is a great guy and a former cop. He is funny, honest and smart. I enjoy working with him. He helped me out when I told him about another company that had come out to have a look at my lawn and wanted to do many things which weren’t necessary. We both walked around and he found exactly the same thing that I wanted to get done. So, we were on the same page. That’s when I felt that he is the one with whom I would work with, as he knew what I wanted. He has a very good rapport with his employees. They seem very determined and dedicated to do a good job for both him and the customer. They have been great about everything.

Great. The first attempt was too shallow for my liking, and they came back and really made the edge deep as I wanted.

The owner is an excellent manager of the company. As a former police officer her directs his crews with authority and confidence. They perform appropriately. They use good equipment and they work hard. The project went well from design to finish. The delivery was within three days of promised date with acceptable limitations due to outside suppliers. This a landscape and maintenance company NOT a grower. The advantage is that your yard will not be filled with what is in stock at Old South. They purchase local material at retail from Wingard's Nursery that may be more expensive than available at other sources. On the other hand, it is excellent stock. A possible way to save money might be to shop for your own nursery stock and pay Old South to install it. You would be responsible for material quality that had nothing to do with planting it. Old South is an excellent, reliable company. We have used them for landscape management since my prior company simply stopped coming unexpectedly. That would never happen with Old South.

Excellent. Larry returned my calls and called me when he said that he would. The work was scheduled on a timely basis and completed on time. The work product far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this business.
