They are very professional; if I make an appointment, they keep to that appointment. We specially ask for one person to do it who knows what he is doing, and he comes out and does a good job twice a year. We don't have any problems fortunately because of the maintenance. I will be using them tomorrow. I will continue to use them in the future.
Description of Work: I use Midland Heating & Air Conditioning Inc for heating and air conditioning. They come and provide maintenance on the air conditioner/HVAC. I have used them for the last 10 years.

Be aware of your system have someone else look if you think you might be encountering this situation.
Description of Work: This was a maintenance and he claimed that there had been animals under the house tearing up the duct work. I am having it check by another professional but what I see is all man made. Wanted $4800 to replace the duct work. No written estimate of damage or suggestions of the most cost efficient way to fix the problem. The last few visit there is always something wrong.

This tactics of this company are pushy at best and dishonest at worst. They've had the maintenance contract on our HVAC for the time we've lived in this house. They've always been good about scheduling and coming out to check things twice yearly. Our first sign that something was odd was a sales pitch for some sort of germ-killing light that cost more than a mortgage payment. Of course we said no. This time around they said our heat exchanger was cracked and the entire unit would need to be replaced. Because of the high cost in their proposal, we had two more qualified technicians come out to check. They both said there was nothing at all wrong with the existing equipment. They won't be coming back onto our property.

They were prompt and told me a little bit ahead of time that they were on their way. They were great with listening to my concerns and reassuring me that my unit was in good shape.
Description of Work: I was having a problem with my air cleaner. They replaced it for no charge and checked out the wiring. They made sure that everything was running properly.

Overall, very nice and punctual. in my pinion, they over exagerated the problems in order to sell a new system.
Description of Work: Use a coupon that cam ein the mail. Tech came out on time and basically said both systems needed to be replaced. The repair estimates were close to half of a new system. The problems described were exagerated from what it actually was. Salesman came later and wanted to sell $12k+ of systems and services. Some services needs to be done, but not to the extentthe tech was saying. The systems they sale are very well rated.

I have used them a lot before and have not had a problem with them. The most recent visit did leave quite an odor from chemicals they used on my coils. They corrected the problem and agreed to used steam cleaning in the future. They sent out a manager to quell any of my concerns and get rid of the odor. I think they really went above and beyond to make things right.

Arrived on time and performed work professionally and timely. Workers were curteous and professional in their demeanor. Will definately use them again.

We had nothing but problems with them. They sent their technicians with their phone encouraging them to use it while they were on job but they used our tenant's telephone instead. I think this was very unprofessional. When we asked about why they were not using their telephone, they said that it had not charged and that they did not have a way to charge it up. They convinced us to buy a new air conditioning system even though our air conditioning was working just fine. They embarrassed us into buying new air conditioning units by talking about our system in front of our tenants. They put us in a very bad situation. They repaired the air conditioning system but they told the tenant that it was a temporary fix and it could break down again tomorrow. This left the tenant feeling extremely uneasy. They ended up not charging us for a month as they had over charged us a couple of months. They had to send another technician as the first one lied to us. My husband happened to know about air conditioning units and that is how we caught them lying. I would not recommend them to other members. I would definitely not use them in future as soon as the contract is over. We always say good things about companies and very rarely talk negative about a company. These guys earned this as we had a very bad experience.

I obtained several quotations from various companies to obtain three professional proposals to choose from. Midland was professional from the beginning to the finish. I have been pleased with the new systems and the service that Midland provided. They were not the least nor the most expensive. The combination of the quality product line they were offering plus their responsiveness and professionalism guided my decision. I would recommend them to anyone and will use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: Midland quoted the replacement and installation of new heat pump systems for my home. The quotes were professionally written and concise. I knew exactly before any work began what equipment, accessories and labor were included in the price. Midland installed the systems in one day and their installation team was very professional. The old equipment and any trash was removed from inside and outside the home. The systems were functioned perfectly from day one.

I waited two weeks without hearing another word from Midland Air. Finally called to inquire about the parts and Midland Air sounded a bit "disoriented" as to what was going on. I got the impression that they ordered the compressor after my call. Midland Air called to schedule installation of the new parts a few days later. The repairman installed the part and presented the final bill. I asked about the "heart start" capacitor that they'd installed and whether they were going to put a normal capacitor back in and was told that the capacitor would have to be ordered. I never heard another peep from Midland Air. Though I've done more than $12,000 worth of business with them in the past, this experience seems to typify my experience with them, both in the past and in even more recent dealings with them. They provide an initial service call, charge for an evaluation, expect immediate payment, and could care less about following up and completing the service. I used them for hvac maintenance contracts for years. It was typical to receive a computerized call from Midland Air telling ME to call THEM to schedule my semi-anual maintenance services!
Description of Work: Had a service issue with a mini-split system installed by Midland Air. The unit was new enough to still be under parts warranty, but not service warranty. Midland Air came promptly and diagnosed a faulty compressor and installed a "heart start" capacitor so that the unit might limp along while parts were being ordered. I was told by service personnel that Midland Air didn't install that particular brand of unit anymore, and that getting parts might be a problem. Was presented a bill for collection before leaving.

After years of extremely high electric bills ($500/mo for 2200 sq. ft. home) and not being comfortable with the temperature of our home we finally got a second and third opinion. Both other independent companies confirmed that the unit they installed was less than half the size it needed to be for our home which is why it ran constantly and we were never comfortable. Because the unit ran overtime it frequently broke down. Midland Air always sent a technician out in a timely manner, and they would find *something* to fix (the thermostat, the coolant leaked, the unit was mislabeled so not enough coolant was infused, blah blah blah), but they could never explain why the problems recurred. I was not at all confident in their technicians. There was no continuity, so they had no reason to get us fixed once an for all. Kind of like the cable company, just do something and get out of the house and on to the next call.
Description of Work: Installed a Trane system seven years ago, which never heated or cooled the house properly. The unit ran constantly and broke down about twice a year.

Terrible. I couldn't be there when the service man came to service my parents AC. They are in their 80's and bought a new house to be close to me. The service man ended up getting them to buy all new duct work because he said there was mold in the duct work. The house had just been inspected AND had all new duct work. At my house they forgot to put the drainage cap in my upstairs HVAC so it dripped and caused a mold problem. When I called them to come fix it they suggested that I buy one of their UV light attachments and the manager wouldn't call me back. I called five times and left messages. These guys used to be good. I don't know what happened but I will never use them again and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I think their service people could be a little more prompt. It seems like they come out an hour after their scheduled appointment. The unit they sold us had a problem with the manufacture so we are working on getting that figured out, but it's not their fault. Other than that, they do a good job and we will continue to use them for future service.
Description of Work: They installed a new heat pump system for us. They did this work in September of last year. We had previously used them to change out duct work. We've also had them come out since they did the installation to check up on the new unit.

After a cursory check, the saleman/installer? announced that our coils were all rusted out and leaking and that we needed to replace our entire heat/ac system. He laid out a variety of options in the $7,000.00 to $12,000 range. He said it was the only way to fix our problem. We told him we would have to think about it. Subsequently we called another contractor, who fixed the problem for under $150.00 and showed my husband how to improve our current system himself. I would definitely get a second opinion if you get this company's sales pitch.
Description of Work: They advertised a free estimate, so we called them. We were having a bad mold odor coming from our heat/ac vents in the house. They came right away.

Not a good experience. Our old HVAC failed in the summer of '07 and a call for an estimate morphed into a pressured sales pitch complete with waived service call charge if we signed a contract. It appeared that a sub-contractor was engaged to do the install, and after the Lennox unit was set on a two-piece slab and leveled with brick batts and other debris, we complained and got a second crew on site. The ductwork was very poorly done, with immediate separation from the boots and junction boxes. They seemed shocked to find that a 45-year old woman was crawling under the house to inspect the work but I did. Over the last 10 months, a 'seat valve' has failed twice, and service calls took over 3 days to be scheduled. Dispatch service and courtesy calls prior to the technician's arrival were handled poorly with lots of wasted time on my part.

There was a mistake last time they came out, but they sent someone out to correct the problem and did not charge me for it. They come when they say they will. They have fair prices.

Very well. Diagnosed, and corrected the AC problem. Ducts installed properly, working fine. Responsive and professional.
Description of Work: This report covers two service calls from Midland. Both were handled well. One they came out to diagnose why the AC unit wasn't functioning. Figured that out and attached a new connecting wire-low voltage to unit. Worked fine then. Second visit was to replace two old metal ducts in crawl space with flex ducts.

The sales man (Lewis) came in a quoted the job and gave us an estimate. He didn't substantially review the job and quoted 3 days from start to finish. The demo took two days and the installation to 2 weeks. The ordered the wrong condenser (13 SEER instead of 14 SEER - we pointed that out not them) and had numerous other installation issues. The work crew generally showed up between 10 and 12 as "first thing in the morning". Multiple calls to the office every day did little good. Their attitude was to say something to get them off the phone. The office always failed to keep us informed of the job and demonstrated that they did not know the status themselves. We don't fault the crew working; it was obvious it was an office management issue. Finally the sales guy (Lewis) admitted they had big issues and didn't follow closely and wanted to get a gift certificate for dinner. Haven t heard from them since.
Description of Work: Midland air replaced the air conditioning in the house. They removed all the old 40 year old ductwork and replaced it with new ductwork. They replaced the old 5 ton condenser with a new 14 SEER Trane 5.0 ton unit and replaced the coils with a compatible unit to achieve an overall 13.8 SEER unit rating of the whole system. They also added a total of 4 vents in two very large rooms that previously had only one in each room. They also converted the house to a 3 independent zone system as opposed to one thermostat controlling the entire house.

Not good. The technician was late. Almost as soon as he started work he reported that our system was "covered in mold" and really near the end of its useful life so we might consider getting it replaced. Our system is 8 years old. He continued to say things pressuring us to select a new system the entire time he was here. He ultimately recommended a UV Cleanser + filtration system. His manager came the next day and explained the cost would be about $2,700 for that. We asked him to show us where the mold was in the system and he could only find a very small spot. He said on a scale of 1-10 in seriousness our mold problem is a 2. I can't say whether or not we got appropriate service to our system, but I can say that if we did, it took only a small percentage of the time the technician was here. The technician was also could not provide a good explanation for a $5 "surcharge" that was added to the cost of the annual maintenance contract.
Description of Work: Annual Service of Heating & AC. One hundred seventy three dollars is for two visits. We had the first visit this month.

Excellent process from start to finish--unit failed Saturday evening and call was placed for service 9pm--Service person was to scheduled to come next morning (Mother's Day) and arrived @ 830 am--Problem was diagnosed and I decided to replace unit rather than repair as the old unit was 13 years old--they offered to install that day but since the weather was cool and it was mother's day I told them wait til next morning--Crew arrived promptly on Monday and removed old unit and installed new unit and thermostat and some ducting for they quoted price and were through and gone by the end of the day!!

I solicited a quote from this company as well as others. Their quote was fair and included a 'finish time' commitment. All work was done as promised. Very satisfied. Have since purchased annual contract for maintenance - also satisfactory.
