I contacted Tri-county because I needed the ridge vent nails and bathroom vents sealed prior to selling my home. Shannon came out and gave me an estimate of 300+. I was in a time crunch so I agreed to the work, however he couldn't tell me when the work would've completed. I call the office the next day and told them I wanted to not perform the work that if I changed my mind I would call them. I contacted another person and had the work completed in 2 days for $100. Last week I received a bill from Tricounty for the work I canceled. I was never contacted prior to them sending someone out for a job I canceled. Shannon confirmed there was a note in my file about me calling however he billed me anyway. I never saw anyone from tricounty again and doubt they actually completed the work I didn't want. Shannon stated that I needed to cancel the contract in writing and therefore I was responsible to pay 15% of the bill. The lady at the office never told me that she needed it in writing.

This review is obviously written in anger but the facts are this. This homeowner called our office at 1:08 pm on November 11th to request a repair estimate. At 1:29 pm on Nov 11th I arrived and gave him an estimate to repair his roof. In our discussion he asked if I could have the work done by Dec 13. I said yes but I didn't have an exact date at that moment because jobs come in hourly and the schedule always gets filled up. I did tell him I would make it a priority and get it done ASAP. At this point he signed our contract accepting our terms. But he is correct that he called my office on Nov 12th at 11:08 and asked us to hold off for a few days because he had some other things to take care of. This was not a cancellation. We were still under contract to have it done by Dec 13th. If that was a real cancellation than there would have been no 15% cancellation fee. Our contract and state law clearly explains you have 3 days to cancel and if done it must be in writing, but a simple call to say he cancelled we would have accepted because it had not been 3 days. Simply asking us to hold off a few days is not canceling. So as a result, we did hold off and went out the next week on Nov 26th and completed the project we were contracted for. The work had not been previously done so there were no red flags. After 2 months of repeated invoicing, calls and no payment, we received a call that he had wanted to cancel and no to hold off and that's not what he meant by asking us to hold off. So to be fair and understanding I simply asked that he at least pay his cancelation fee even though the work was completed which was $44.97 instead of full $299.78. Now that was being generous because the material and labor cost more than the $44.97. The homeowner agreed to this and clearly knew what was going on and still wrote a review not telling the whole story. Please remember our reputation and see our other reviews when reading this and remember we always try to be fair and make things right but there are some people who one can never make happy especially when they play the system and try to pull a fast one.

I called to set the appointment, was told to present the coupon before the estimate which I was leery of. The gentleman called to let me know he was running late. Very pleasant young man, well groomed. He gave me an estimate w/o a breakdown which I thought was a little pricey even with the discount considering that my home is not quite 1100 sq ft. I told him I would be looking as soon as a week from the day he came out. I called for a complete breakdown of the cost but they never called back to follow up. I can't say if they were fair or not because I haven't gotten another opinion. Very disappointed that they never followed up.

In the time since we have recieved this review, we have actually be in touch with this homeowner and reminded her that we actually did email her the breakdown that she requested. She admitted that she had forgotten about that and she said she would call us when she was ready for the work to be done. But we do thank you for the response even though there was an error because we take these reviews seriously and are always wanting to better ourselves and to improve on our customer service. It took them almost 6 days and that is a compliment, since it is a slate roof and it is one piece at a time. There was a crew of 3 guys and the additional support of the home office who supplied the materials and the supervision. They had a high commitment to high principles that was important to me; integrity and professionalism. I also went to the office too and looked at the materials and equipment; I also interviewed and met the owners. I have also recommended them to a neighbor who will be using their service for a roof.
Description of Work: They installed a full slate roof on a 4000 sq foot home.

Sir, we appreciate your business more than you know. It was indeed a fun job as Slate and Copper are always an experience to work with, but it truly made your home look remarkable. I've never met a homeowner that tried to sell me before but you definitely did your research and homework and chose the best product on the market and i thank you for allowing us to be your installer. And Yes we actually had the manufacturer of the material on site with us for picture taking because it was the first Symphony Slate installed in Charleston and they were thrilled for it to be on your house as well. Thank You for your referrals and even more for your business, you and the Mrs were truly a pleasure doing business with. Shannon Hawkins

Micah Carter quoted ENTIRE job. Signed contract and made down payment on 6-20-13. ROOFING: Very happy with roofing job, roofing crew., and inspection of roof. Micah during this time was very responsive via email and cell phone. Next phase of work entailed gutter installation and chimney cap replacement. Before gutters installed, work halted --- as agreed upon in June --- so that Jeff Harrison (painting contractor) could paint all facia board. Painting completed in Aug 9th. GUTTERS: Contacted Micah and gutter installation was told gutter installer would contact me. Micah called following week and said gutter installers would be at my place in a few hours. I left work (as I like to be there for installation, etc) and installers were just finishing up. Work looked fine; however, nobody ever came back for a final inspection and one of the gutters is not tacked down by the front door. A strong wind will definitely pull it away from the house. CHIMNEY CAP: Again, chimney cap was installed without my being notified so I was not there when installers were there. I did not see it before it went up. Right after installation it rained and we had leakage in fireplace. I called Micah and he sent out Shawn to inspect. Shawn went up on roof and said they had not sealed it properly but he did not have the correct color (black) calking. I agreed to trust him to come back with the correct calking the next day and seal it and paid the remaining balance on the total contract. So at that point my bill was 100% paid. Shawn did not return. I contacted the office and was told he had been ill. I understood, but he never returned. He did not return my calls left for him through the office. Micah did not return my emails, or my calls from then on. I told Micah on my last voice mail that I felt like they were making a "b**** out of me" to make me keep calling about this issue. I never heard back from anyone at the company. The problem with the chimney cap went unresolved. Continued to leak. My husband had to buy calking and go up on the roof himself. We had paid for a R&R Chimney Cap, Stainless Steel, custom molded and PEAKED. The cap is NOT PEAKED and it still leaks. We are very unhappy with this company. I would have been happy to give them an A+ rating. I don't know what the issue was or why they refused to work with me in resolving this issue with the chimney cap as it seemed a minor problem to resolve. I didn't even call them about the gutter issue. Why bother!!!
Description of Work: Removed entire roof, and replaced. Installed gutters. Removed old chimney cap and replaced with new custom molded cap.

In the time since reading this review and today, i have actually gotten to the bottom of everything that has gone on. First i'd like to say that we are truly sorry for the mishap with the communication on the gutters and the chimney cap and would like to thank you for your review as this is the kind of review that allows us to fix any issues before they become habit. I did some investigating and yes the roof and all the inspections that went along with the roof went well. Unfortunately Shawn did get the Flu and he was not as responsive as i would have liked and we have corrected that so it wont happen again but what i do encourage anyone that reads this review to do is if anyone thinks that they are not getting the service they should, please call our office and talk to one of the Managers and let us handle it right then, not a month after the work is done. What i would like to do is come out and fix the gutters, from my completion pictures it looks like everything is perfect but id like to check that for you, also i would like to check your chimney cap, because i think the terminology threw you off, the cap can not and shouldn't be peaked because of your flute, but what you are referring to is the X-shape we call cross braces to strengthen the cap and those appear to be on your chimney cap from the pictures and that is how you make them, so i believe what you envisioned in your head and what is installed may be different but the idea is the same and the pictures show that it is there. Please call me and lets reassure you that everything is as it should be and if it isn't than let us make it so. Shannon Hawkins Tri County Roofing Sales Manager

Although we did not use Tri-County Roofing for our roof replacement, I was very happy with the responsiveness of Tri-County Roofing. Within minutes of submitting a request via their homepage, I received a confirmation email and the next day had received a call from the representative who was able to come by and give me a written estimate that same day. I really appreciated the punctuality and professionalism as well as the responsiveness. We decided to go with another company mainly on the overall cost and the fact that Tri-County only includes 2 sheets of plywood in the estimate and we didn't know how much we would need.

Recoating was very professional. Roof continued leaking from unknown/unfound source into kitchen sunroom doorway. They came out multiple times and replaced flashing collars around vents for no charge. I continued to look in the attic when raining and thought it was from new hvac vent which was replaced about the time the leak initially started. They came and repaired this vent for no charge. We are still looking for leak. They are very professional and helpful and continue to try to find leak. Sometimes they are days in coming out again but continue to work with me to try to find this leak. We have had so many frequent, heavy rains that this has caused some of the delay, as they cannot do the repairs in wet weather. My house is 70 years old and has multiple vents and flues that were thought to be needed at the time the house was built. Hopefully we will eventually find this "ghostly" leak.
Description of Work: Did roof check for angie's list special discounted rate and advised recoating metal part of roof due to leaking problem. They later replaced all flashing around vents for no extra charge.

Though, I opted for a different company to do my work, I was very pleased with the JJ Outen coming by to provide a detailed estimate, and was very up front with pricing and specifics on the phone. He provided a product list of which materials would be installed, a written estimate, and a very good contract to review. I have over 20 years of construction for the gov't and wrote many contracts. I am particulate to what is in the contract, and wanting to know everything from materials being placed to time expected, estimated time to complete, and clean-up, delivery. All of this was there. I would give them a recommendation based on my talks and review of the products, and reviewing the proposal. This is an example of how I like to see a contractor provide service with upfront and specifics with detailed in proposals, so there is no "shock". Alan Deyoe USN(RET)

First, some back ground Because of sever hail damage in May of 2011 we needed a new roof. I didn't know how serious the situation was until June of 2012 when a roofing company, canvasing the neighborhood and offering a free inspection recommended that we get the roof replaced. I was grateful for the inspection, but decided to find a contractor with reliable credentials. That company had only been in business for a few months. I started doing some preliminary research but when I reached Tri County Roofing I remembered that they were a customer where I worked. When they were a customer they were a polite, patient, respectful customer. If that is how they were as a customer, how good were they to work with. I called for an appointment. Shannon Hawkins was our sales representative. I was impressed with Shannon from the start. Yes, he is in business man, and from that prospective conducted himself as a business man should. Beyond that, he was likeable, knowledgeable, approachable, understanding, conversant, made good eye contact, and put me at ease. He made some recommendations relevant to out specification requirements, provided a preliminary estimate, and set a time for a complete inspection, with our insurance adjuster present. The results of the inspection clearly indicated that we needed a new roof. One of the key criteria, with the insurance adjuster was there needed to be 5 divots within 15 square foot area. We had 15 or more divots in that same prescribed space. I was sure of three things, at this point. We were getting a new roof, Tri County Roofing was going to be the contractor, and my wife, Vicki, had chosen a color (I have male red, green, brown color vision issues). A day before the scheduled start, all of the materials were delivered to our home. Don't be alarmed, when you see the new shingles being put up on the existing roof. It?s all part of the plan. By low country standards, we have a huge roof. We live in a single story, 2200 sq. ft. home with a hip roof. This project was scheduled to last 2-3 days. The installation team, with a supervisor arrived on time on the start date. Once they had a plan of attack the work began. Need I remind you that it was in the high 90's every day? The team work tirelessly from 7:30 to 12:30ish, then took as lunch/siesta break until about 3. Then they were back at until 7:30 or so. The graciously accepted the use of our covered patio during that time. While they were working they took steps to ensure our property was impacted as little as possible. They covered shrubs, trees, and plants with tarps and removed material to an awaiting dumpster as they moved along. At the end of the day, work they had in process, but not completed, was covered with a tarp, and secured, to ensure that we were protected from any storm that might pop up. Shannon had commented that because of the size of this project their most experienced team would be performing the work. That being the case, that team work very well together. I started, outside watching and with the heat it as essential to make every effort count. When they started putting the roof down I listened just to see if there were 6 nails in the new shingles. The tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap sound from the nail guns was rhythmic, over and over again. They finished slightly ahead of schedule, and the cleanup was impressive. Right down to rolling the lawn with the rolling magnet to pick up every nail possible. Then a few days later, a supervisor came by to make sure everything went well, and he rolled yard again, just to be sure. All in all, I would recommend Tri County Roofing to anyone needing a new roof. They were a pleasure to do business with, no hidden agenda, no hidden costs, just plain talk, a super job, and a tremendous weight lifted off our heads. Update 10/2013 This Summer our electric bills were at least $75.00 per month
Description of Work: Removed the old roofing shingles, felt, drip edge, ridge vent, inspected the roof deck and replaced any that were weak or could possibly compromise the new roof. Installed: State of the art underlayment, New drip edge, New ridge vent. New designer lifetime warranty shingles New wind resistant starter-strip Recommended: installation of 2 Solar Power Vents to improved attic ventilation. Just the addition of the solar vents has improved the effectiveness of the roof and the HVAC system.

When I first called, they came out to look at the problem within a couple of days. Told me, due to heavy schedule, it might take a couple of weeks to get someone out to repair it but explained fully what was involved and quoted what I thought was a fair price. Didn't hear back from them for almost 2 weeks so called to see when I was scheduled. After a couple of calls, they returned my call and said they would check their schedule. Said they thought they would get to my order "sometime this week". A repairman came out the next day and made the repairs.

Used Angie's list to look for a roofing company with good reviews. Then I called Tri-county roofing, and three others. For three tab, one was 18 to 25 k, one was 14 k, and one was 5 k labor and I find the shingles. Shannon called me immediately after I called his company and we set up an appointment. The price was very good, less than 10 k for architectural shingles. They were out at the house on a Tuesday morning and were done Thursday morning. The crew was professional, courteous, and the clean-up was well done. Shannon was a nice family man that was a pleasure to do business with. He did everything he said he would do and there were no "added prices" after the job was done. I would recommend this roofing company to anyone.

Called the office Feb 25 to request estimate for repair of small leak in metal roof. Roofer dispatched same day, he inspected the leak into the attic space, and stated he would return the following week. After six weeks with no word, called the office again on April 9, received many apologies and a phone call from the roofer on the same day who left a message saying he would call back. He never did. We then called East Coast Roofing and received a prompt response and a positive result. I don't like leaving negative reviews. It was very rainy from February through early April and I understand roofers were receiving many calls. It may be that Tri-County was backed up and busy elsewhere. But I would rather be told "we're busy and it will take us a while to get to you" rather than to be simply ignored or forgotten. Perhaps we should have followed up more aggressively with Tri-County. But East Coast Roofing was busy too - but I was told up-front about it, chose to wait (it was only a week) and repairs were quickly and efficiently made - plus I had confidence in the work performed based on the experience demonstrated. Version:1.0 StartHTML:0000000178 EndHTML:0000004947 StartFragment:0000002368 EndFragment:0000004911 SourceURL:file://localhost/Users/georgeking/Desktop/Phone%20Records.doc Update: We saw and reviewed ?Company Response? from Shannon Hawkins, Sales Manager, Tri-County Roofing. Mr. Hawkins states, ?We never received a phone call or an inquiry about this address.? Our Comcast records would suggest the contrary. Indeed, on April 9, 2013, at 8:18 am, we spoke with Tri-County Roofing, at (843) 572?2175, for 2 minutes 39 seconds, inquiring about the whereabouts of our Tri-County roofer Micah Carter, missing in action since February 25. Our Comcast records also show a phone call received from Micah Carter?s mobile phone, 843-706-1603 on May 20, 2013 (the same number on the business card he handed to us back in February), for 1 minute 24 seconds, in which he advised that his boss was angry with him because of our unfavorable Angie?s List review. His boss had instructed him to call us and apologize. He said he was sorry that he had forgotten us. We accepted the apology (mistakes happen) and moved on. Mr. Hawkins? ?Company Response? goes beyond the pale. All of his his huffing and puffing just looks silly and makes Micah?s apology appear insincere and disingenuous. So much for Tri-County?s ?web-based digital system.? Needless to say, before Mr. Hawkins makes false and defamatory claims about his competition, perhaps he should take this opportunity to examine his own actions, and those of his company, before going on the attack (which seems to be his preferred mode of response to negative Angie?s List reviews).

This is not an accurate review in any way. I'm actually being led to believe these continuous reviews referring to our competition are staged, planned and discounts are given gor ones effort. For all reading this, just a little information you may want to know, from the moment you call you are imputed in our digital system that is web based. We can't delete any information. This gentleman was never a customer. We never received a phone call or an inquiry about this address. We also give estimates on the spot. Our entire system is digital. We have printers in our vehicles so we can create and print on the spot. This review does not make sense. It is very untrue and we have no record of this individual. If anyone wants to see our system ask your estimator when he arrives. It is sad when a competitor tries to slander one with more reviews to try to look better. It will catch up to you and your reviews will start piling in but not in your favor. Shannon Hawkins Sales Manager Tri-County Roofing

They came out with a very large crew. It was about 105 degrees. I don't know how they stood it. They finished the job in one day, but I was not happy with some of the wood work. I told J.J. what I wanted, and he saw to it that it was done. Very good work. Maybe a little expensive, but quality materials and work.
Description of Work: Replaced the roof and about 3/4 of my fascia board; small house about 1200 sq/ft.

I was very pleased with the service I received and when I decide to replace my roof probably within the next few months I will most likely use this company. The other companies don't really compare because the kind of service I get means more than the price that was quoted.
Description of Work: I called because the ridge vent was loose and my roof is 20 years old so I wanted to get an estimate to fix the vent and replace the roof. The lady that answered the phone was very polite and sounded concerned about my problem which I appreciated very much. Travis was out that afternoon and he was the only one out of the other companies I had called that actually went beyond what was requested and nailed the ridge vent down.

everything overall went great
Description of Work: I would like to say that Tri County Roofing was called by my Insurance Company to a**** some damage that I had on my roof. once Travis arrived he inspected the roof and spoke to me about all of my options concerning the repair. once we looked at the options and decided what we were going to do, I told him that I was going to wait before signing any contracts and I would call him at a later date. Once this was established we continued to talk about another subject and ended up talking for a bit. This I have to say is one of the biggest reasons that I chose this company. He took the time to learn about me and talk to me even though he did not know if I was going to purchase a roof from him or not. That is a piece of customer service that really does not exist now days. Most companies are concerned about your money and are in and out of your residence as long as it talked them to look at what they need to do and give you an estimate. Not Tri County. Travis kept in touch with me through out the entire process and ensured that everything happened as scheduled. The roof looks amazing and all of my neighbors think so also. so to conclude I would recommend them to anyone that I know because their customer service and their workmanship is amazing. Thank you Travis and Tri county for putting an amazing quality roof on my residence. I hope this review helps.
