Our heater failed on a Friday with Christmas the following Wednesday. I spoke with Andrew at 4:15 pm Friday afternoon for a ballpark quote (had received a quote at 3:30 from the company that had diagnosed the problem). With temperatures in the 30's by Tuesday and company scheduled for Christmas Day, I needed a new unit installed Monday or Tuesday. After confirming the size and type of unit that had been quoted by the other company appeared to be correct for my home, he checked and found that the unit was available to be shipped in from the manufacturer's warehouse in Columbia on Monday and could be delivered on Tuesday and installed that morning. Andrew could not promise that we would have the unit Tuesday morning since it was being shipped by an independent carrier over which he had no direct control, but he did promise to do everything he could to contact the warehouse managers at both ends and keep everyone involved aware of the timing. The pricing was more competitive than my other quoted price. Andrew made a special trip to my home early Saturday morning to look at the existing unit and confirm that the new unit was appropriate and could be installed in place of my current unit. He also reviewed all of the specifics about the model and confirmed that the model I was getting had stainless steel heat exchanger coils and was an upgrade from the model quoted by the other company. He also said that he would schedule two teams to make sure that installation was completed as quickly as possible. Andrew called to confirm Monday morning that the order was placed, he confirmed later in the day that the unit was in transit, and called Tuesday morning to confirm that it was being picked up by his crew (Alvin and James) who would be at my house before 9. The installation went smoothly and I had heat by 11 am. Alvin answered all of my questions and set up the thermostat programming with me. A second crew came (as promised) while the main installation was occurring to measure for the shroud, went back to the shop to fabricate it, and then returned to finish up the job. I am very impressed by the customer service focus and professionalism of Berkeley Heating & Air Conditioning. I was especially impressed with Andrew who literally dropped everything to make this all happen to meet my schedule.

We've always been very satisfied with them. They've always been very professional and done great work. We'll use them in the future (vs. their competition) because they're just great all around problem solvers.

THEY HAD TO FILL MY AIR CONDITIONING I NEED A NEW ONE BUILT

I had my ac/heating unit's annual maintenance performed today and he did a great job. He went above and beyond and took my unit apart to clean the internal coil (which has never happened at a previous annual maintenance by other companies). I was very pleased and will use this company again if anything eventually comes up with my 10 yr old unit.

Everything went great - they showed up on time, did the job, spent a good bit of time reviewing everything with us, and answered all of our questions. A couple of months later, we had them out again to troubleshoot a problem we were having (the problem turned out to be user error on our end!), and again they showed up promptly (same day that I called!) and handled everything very professionally.

Couldn't ask for a better, knowledgable technician. He took the time to explain everything.

He was over an hour late but once he got here did an excellent job. Would have appreciated a call telling me he was running late due to the job ahead of mine.

Berkeley's office staff and service personnel are very professional, courteous and helpful. Service personnel are always on time and the worked performed is great. We are very pleased with the Berkeley team and highly recommend them.

Good service with minimum hassle and no unexpected glitches. I especially appreciate a service organization that shows up when they say they will and keep their promises for cleanup and low stress. The installation, although hidden (in the attic) is neat,professional, and well done. I also like the fact that my utility bills are lower.

When the salesman told me I had maintenance coverage for 1 year he said I would get 2 visits, it didn't really matter if I scheduled one late or not. Since I was just getting a new unit 6 months was sort of unnecessary and I could wait for awhile. So I called to make my appointment a couple weeks ago & said I have 2 visits and would like to use one and she tells me "no, I only see one." Fine.... let the girl know one room was hotter than the other can the maintenance guy check that too of should I make another appt? She says he can check it as well and I Scheduled for today between 9-12. She said that the tech would call me when he was on the way. (That happens with most companies, great, it's good to have a heads up right?) Nope. It turns out, unbeknownst to me, that if I don't answer the phone when they call I have 15 MINUTES to get back to them or they cancel my appointment. (they called my cell phone and since I'm in the house waiting I don't hear my cell since it's in the bedroom on my charger.) Every other company I have used for anything comes anyway since I have been waiting here 3 hours anyway. So then I'm on the hook waiting during another window, this time 12-5 for someone to show up and I better have my cell phone on my hip the entire time or I lose. So he shows up around 3:00, friendly enough guy, happy with him at first. I tell him the issues, he goes upstairs to do his thing. My house gets crazy hot, it's obvious he's heating my heat pump up when it's too hot outside (I thought it wasn't a good idea to overwork the heat-strips & pump when it's already hot outside) he comes down stairs, asks me to sign and does not say a word about the filter I wanted him to check or the cooling difference in the rooms. So I ask him... he stumbles around for a minute or so before admitting it's over his head when I press him for information and he will have a manager call me. At least he's honest. I ask about the filter, he tells me to check it in another month... I'm supposed to change this once a year, by now it should be pretty clear if I need to change it or not (Hepa Filter type) He shows me his paper with all the data on it for the heat pump... meanwhile it's still 80 degrees outside and I'm still using the A/C. I ask if he will check that, he says "no, this is the heat pump check".... ummm yeah, if I'm still using the air, why can't you check it? And if the girl on the phone is correct (Dianna maybe is her name?) then I only get 1 visit a year with my fabulous maintenance plan, it's during a time of year when the temp is just too hot to feel decent about getting a heat check but because of the timing of my purchase I'm roped into it because it's October. He tells me to call in 6 months to do the A/C check. Yeah, not going to happen, I'll get someone else to help me, thank you very much.

Berekley Heating and Air had been my service provider for several years and we just didn't feel that the unit was working correctly. After an evaluation of the complete unit and duct work that between improper installation and incorrect duct work off the main unit by the builders was the reason the unit was not working correctly. After consultation with Berkeley Heating and Air and reviewing all the options given me, I decided to go for a complete new unit.

Excellent service from these guys and company. Would highly recommend.

They are a very good company. I would definitely recommend them to family members or friends. I would use them in the future.

We interviewed three companies that provided estimates. Although we had never dealt with Berkeley before, they were referred by two neighbors. Berkeley sent Allan to provide an estimate on the same day I called. He was prompt, professional and knowledgeable of the different options. The space that this unit would be heating/cooling is approximately 800 sq. ft and is NOT the main living area. Because of this, he did not try to sell us the most expensive options, unlike the other two estimators. And since Carrier was offering a rebate, along with the SCE&G rebate, the price that he quoted was the most competitive. The installation was done a few days later. Kirk and Allen (not the estimator) arrived on time, did not make a mess, removed all of the old equipment, and kept us informed of their progress during the installation. They also showed us how to use the new thermostat, since it's very different from our old one. The Carrier Infinity is so much better than our old system...Quieter and seems to maintain a more even temperature. Allan (the estimator) came by a few days after installation to drop off the invoice, the rebate forms (he filed the Carrier rebate directly), and to check on our satisfaction with the installation.

Andrew came out for an estimate and took a different approach to solving our unique problem (zoning problem). He approached it like it was his own home and took the time to find a great solution. A week later the team came out (Those guys are great!) and took 3 days to get a very complicated job done. The technicians: Kevin (lead), Tario and Jimmy were friendly, helpful and professional. I could not have gotten better service. I highly recommend them. Thanks guys!

They were prompt and professional.

Technician showed up early but called ahead of time with plenty of time for us to be ready. Technician was courteous and knowledgeable. After performing the maintenance and inspection, he recommended replacing the float switch which had been removed for some reason. Cost for replacing that part was about $160 which seemed high. Cost for the maintenance and inspection was $99. However, per the technician's recommendation, I was able to call the business and have the $99 applied toward a residential contract (includes two residential maintenance and inspection services annually) which costs $160. Office staff seemed friendly.

Overall, the experience was satisfactory until the final stages. Unfortunately, there were problems in getting the Federal tax credit and SC rebate forms. It took several TX calls and two weeks to get the forms that should have been available sooner.

Fair price. On time as promised. Respected my property.

Our unit failed shortly before leaving for vacation so received quote and made arrangements for the installation before leaving. The day of our return received a call to confirm the date and installation was performed as planned. They completed the job on the day agreed and were very professional and clean. Spotless upstairs after completion. A few days after installation, we had a short in wall electrical feeding the unit. They came out, analyzed the failure and rewired at no charge. Neither of us is sure what caused the short, but moisture in the wall could have contributed but also could have been the installation. They offered the repair at no cost. This was more than expected. Our house is 14 years old.

Very professional from the estimate to completion of service. Very responsive to several calls for information.
