Description of Work: The owner, Mr Leroy Sullivan was a pleasant man with an eye for detail,and when job was completed, I was approximately 90 % satisfied? there was a 3-4 foot section under eaves at back of house that was not sufficiently scraped or painted.A ladder was left behind, I called and left message, no one responded. The first day of service was several weeks after payment to Angie's list as Mr Sullivan was 2-3 weeks behind schedule, then it rained for several days so I was anxious to start the process.The first day four men with trucks and ladders arrived at about nine AM and I was elated. a few minutes later, one man remained and I was told rest would return later that day. this man brought his dog and tied it to a tree in my yard, smoked frequently and threw butts on my yard, used my cell phone three times, and broke my bedroom window.He sat on my front porch for an hour waiting for the rest of the crew which never returned that day.He also left his equipment, garbage, half eaten sandwich,and cigarette packages along with my drop cord laying in the yard and porch. it then rained so I had to clean up his mess.I told Mr. Sullivan About the situation but the next day the man again brought the dog. it was cold, the dog was hungry so I took food and a blanket out for the dog. the crew were not happy with each other and one man quit, who has since returned to my home at night wanting side work and said he really wasn't a painter.I really liked Mr Sullivan and my house looks nice, but he needs more consistent,professional workers and needs to schedule time more realistically. I do not believe I would use them again unless those situations were resolved. as a side note, the staff from Angie's list were fantastic, responded quickly and kindly to my calls and questions and I would use Angie's list for any future needs. + 0 moreLee Roy insisted on using Sherwin Williams paint. That is how I learned that there is a difference with paint quality. I always thought paint was just paint. Just pick a color. We used three different colors for our deck. He did an excellent thorough job. Nothing was needed for correction. It took several days because the outside of the deck was reached by ladder only. The inside of the deck was also reached at some points by a ladder. the job is now two years later and still looks fabulous. He knows what he is doing and is slow and methodical. But if you prefer the work to be done right - than he is the one for the job.

+ -1 moreI have used this service provider several times. He is always courteous and efficient. He asks a lot of questions to be sure he will do the job the way you want it done. I usually purchase my own materials, but I ran out of paint one time and he went to the store where I purchased it to buy more in order to complete the job. He usually gives a good estimate on the amount of paint needed, but sometimes it does come close. He never leaves marks on the ceiling! When doing the border, he matched the pattern very nicely at the corners. He always compliments me on my color scheme to provide reassurance that I've made the right choices. He works full time and also independently. He is a hard worker and very Southern.

+ -1 moreFirst before I found Lee Roy Sullivan, I'd originally hired another painter from near the top of Angie's list after getting 2 quotes which were both in the same neighborhood (almost double). I hired one of them who had spent 45 minutes coming to look at the job. He sent a detailed quote itemizing what each room would cost and he and a helper showed up and started to remove the wallpaper in two of the rooms. Then the owner went in and looked at what his assistant had done. He told him to pack up his stuff and told me they were leaving. He evidently didn't think they were charging ENOUGH! Luckily I learned about Lee Roy Sullivan through some friends. He came and walked around looking at all the walls while writing an estimate. I learned that he had been painting for 40 years and had learned from his father who was a painter. Hearing that was music to my ears. Then when I saw the quote I was even happier. He made short work out of removing the layers of wallpaper the other painter had evidently thought would require too much work. Then he knew EXACTLY how to repair the walls. Using various steps to do so via painting with primer, using joint compound, sanding, cleaning and then priming again (if I remember correctly), he made what had looked awful into looking like a million bucks...before the walls were even painted! Needless to say, when I figured out the colors I wanted on the walls, I hired him back to paint for an additional cost. I've paid him just for labor for the work he's done but he was generous enough to pass on his discount from Sherwin-Williams for the oil based primer he recommended I get. He's a fountain of knowledge when it comes to knowing the best type of paint to use and the pros and cons of each depending on the surface being painted. I plan to hire him back to do some exterior work.

+ 1 moreHe is really a master in the service he does and has over 40 years experience. I have had estimates from other painters and he is 3 cuts above them. He is timely, efficient, always does exactly what he says he will, priced competitively and is very good about being in contact with consumer as to when he is coming or if he is running late. I would highly recommend him to anybody.
