Overall did a good job. They were very prompt, responsive and inexpensive relative to their competitors. Quality of paint job - Excellent. Quality of Drywalling - Overall good The good - Fast, Inexpensive, Finishing mostly very good The bad - certain finishing details were not good (around outlets, light fixtures) requiring further patching and rework. This was puzzling considering that all of the really difficult parts of the job (patching the old drywall, repairing a ceiling that had a popcorn finish removed) were done beautifully.
Description of Work: FERCO installed new drywall in 90% of a 2600sf house after remodeling, repaired the rest of the existing drywall. They then primed and painted the new drywall and existing drywall, 1 coat.
We did work through them and Fernando provided suggestions and gave us ideas. He really wants his projects to look nice.We did use an architect to come up with the basic design. The Ferco company workers are polite and dependable. They are hard workers. They are good about cleaning up each day. I'm hoping the project will be completed in four weeks. The thing that we have been pleased with is that they are extremely dependable. They show up on time and we don't have to sit around and wait for them or wonder. They show up at eight and are here for a full day. I can also trust them enough to leave them alone. They are a good team. We had about five different bids and based upon that we felt that Ferco was the most reasonable. The only thing might be the order and sequence on the way they have done things seems a little unusual. But that does seem to be fairly common with other people who have had major remodeling. You don't mind talking to them about any concerns or anything. The workers are polite and they seem to know what they are doing and want to do a good job.
Description of Work: We are currently using Ferco for a whole home remodel. They have moved some walls, they have enclosed a screened in porch to help create a master bedroom, they have added hardwood floors and redone the existing hardwood floors. They have also painted the walls and reworked some shower and bathroom areas.

The project went well overall. We got granite that we have seen in very expensive homes. The fit and finish are good. One issolated piece seems turned the 'wrong' way. The cutter had to decide whether to match the grain of one counter or the grain of another set 90-degrees. We would have preferred it to match the opposite sirection than the one they chose but it was too late. I suggest in a project like this you set out what direction the grain will be sut. This is especially important where there are angles or corner sinks. Also, establish overhangs and whether one or two pieces will be needed for long counters. We discussed these details and got exactly what we wanted but didn't think about grain direction.
Description of Work: Ferco does kitchen remodelling. We simply needed a granite countertop. Ferco assessed the project and referred us to one of their subcontractors. This way we did not have to pay Ferco to oversee the project. The subcontractor was competent and the price was competitive.

We used Fernando for renovations on a house we purchased, including repainting and stripping popcorn ceilings. His prices are lower than most other contractors in the area, but you do get what you pay for. When we asked him if he could replace the tub, he quoted us the very low price of $300. Other plumbers and installers told us this was so cheap that we ought to be suspicious that he didn't understand the amount of work required or didn't know how to do it right. Another plumber said he wouldn't touch a tub re-install for less than $1000. We should have listened -- After several delays, Fernando's people installed the tub and left without adequately checking it. The piping leaked into our ceiling, damaging the wood and drywall, and they had to come back and cut back into the ceiling they'd already patched. Now the piping is leaking again and we're having to pay $500-$700 to another plumber to cut into the ceiling again and fix the leak, and whatever damage may have occurred. Fernando's contractors are okay for general maintenance and construction, but they aren't specialists, and we should have hired a professional plumber the first time around.
Description of Work: Garden tub replaced in upstairs bathroom
Fernando's prices are much cheaper than most other contractors, but you get what you pay for. Most of the work was of average quality -- some was poorly done and we had to go back and fix it ourselves. We also had to clean up a lot of mess after Fernando's guys left. They weren't always on time, and when Fernando wasn't on-site himself, his guys didn't seem to know what they were supposed to be doing; we frequently had to tell them. We got a lot of work done for significantly less than we could have paid elsewhere, but the quality and professionalism were fair, and Fernando contractors aren't specialists, just general laborers. We made the mistake of having him do a later job of replacing a bathtub, and we're now having to pay a real plumber about $600 to repair the leak that Fernando's guys left. If you want to save money, Fernando's rates are very good; just don't expect "A" quality work and accept that you may have to follow-up with touch ups of your own.
Description of Work: We used Fernando, based on positive reviews on Angie's List, for remodeling on the home we purchased, including stripping popcorn ceilings, repainting walls and woodwork, replacing carpet, installing light fixtures and door hardware, and sealing our garage floor.

Description of Work: Fernando repaired some exterior stucco that was cracked and painted the area when he was finished. This involved a trip to the paint store to get an exact match of the paint color. When finished the match was perfect. Her also cleaned up the area where the work was done. This was all done within 24 hours of when I first contacted him. I would definitely use him again.

Don't expect a lot of paperwork like contracts, plans, and invoices from Fernando, as he doesn't do any of that. Instead, he brings in a crew, gets busy on the work, and finishes quickly. The work is excellent, even though you don't get a plan, contract ,or invoice. The final result is great, especially for the price, though it may ot be exactly what you originally envisioned. If you can live with this non-standard way of doing business there is a lot of value here.

Fernando replaced two exterior doors and frames, one window, pressure washed the entire exterior of the house using Clorox, painted the deck, painted three exterior retaining walls, repaired the flooring and sub-flooring leading the the deck, removed wall paper and painted three interior rooms, installed beautiful back splash in the kitchen and replaced some floor molding. All of this was done with three crews working simultaneously so fast and professionally that it was astounding! In and out in 2 1/2 days wham bam!!! The crews were very sensitive to cleaning and not leaving any trace of mess anywhere. This is the way to go and for a price you will not beat!
Description of Work: Fernando performed a variety of repairs and upgrades to our home in preparation for putting the house on the market. He is very professional and offers good advice in preparing your home for resale. Highly Recommended!

Fernando agreed to do some work in the kitchen, a half bath, screened porch, and outdoor work building for an estimated $5700. He and his workmen were very pleasant but they would be here one day and not the next. They jumped from kitchen to porch to workshop and never completely finished anything. After they installed my free-standing sink and disposal, there was mud pumping into the sink and I had to get my plumber in to fix that. I asked beforehand if he thought some used cabinets my son passed to me were in good enough shape to use. Only after he had installed my microwave and some of the cabinets did he tell me they were too damaged on the sides. He then removed them and painted the walls. We discussed options, he said he could rebuild them or I could just get new ones so we put that on hold, with him grumbling all the while that I changed my mind too much. I went on vacation and we agreed work would begin again on July 9. He stopped by the house July 2nd or 3rd, looked over the work his men had done, reminded me he was going to Canada on vacation and would be back as agreed on July 9. Didn't show up until several days later. Another week later he did a little more work and cashed the $1500 check he'd asked for on 7/18 (in addition to the $1500-2000 I had already paid). He was not happy - his men installed a gate on the outbuilding incorrectly and they painted the entire building the color of the trim on my house instead of the brick color. There is a language problem - I had told him I wanted the little building to look like the house (brick color with cream trim - we went over this repeatedly). He had screens made for the windows in the outbuilding and they do not fit - too long. He just set them aside and they are still sitting there. I have heard nothing more from him. They did not replace all the wood strips on the screened porch after they replaced the screen, and some of the strips that they replaced are falling off. They put the screen doors in the porch inside out and I had to ask them to switch them around. Fernando started a tile backsplash in the kitchen. After he had started that job, I asked if he could tile down to the baseboard behind the freestanding sink. He agreed to do it, said he would need more tile which I paid for, then left it partially done. The tiles are stuck up there but are not filled in between, not finished out at all. He complained the entire time that I changed my mind too much. I did not change my mind, I simply had him change the work that was done wrong.
Description of Work: Installed free-standing kitchen sink from Ikea, installed microwave and some kitchen cabinets (then removed them), installed lighting in kitchen and bath, put new screen in porch, caulked bathtub, removed some old wood from walls and eaves in outbuilding and replaced, painted outbuilding, started tile backsplash in kitchen. Nothing completed except $200 job in half bath.

They were wonderful at tile work - I ended up with a beautiful but simple inlay in the floor (Fernando's suggestion), and an eye catching accent border and cubby in the tub. I am really pleased with the outcome! I was also amazed at how this crew could tear out a wall or ceiling, and sheet-rock and finish it up so all looks like new. We had some plumbing work that needed to be done - new sink connections, and replacing the bath tub/shower handles, shower head, and faucet. Our plumbing was 50 years old, and Ferco had some difficulty getting the new plumbing to mesh with the old - we did have another plumber come to fix one pesky leak in the tub plumbing. The only thing that didn't end up as good as I had hoped was spraying the tub with a white ceramic coating. This is not their specialty, and were I to do again, I would just go with a tub specialist. It was done early, and then the finish was slightly damaged during some other work, necessitating a fair bit of touch up. Fernando and his crew worked very hard - They had the majority of the work done in the predicted 4 days. Depending on what needed to get done they had anywhere from 2-4 workers on the job. They finished up quickly once the granite company put in the counter-tops. Fernando stayed within the quote that he gave us - we did agree to pay for supplies for anything he had receipts for like pipes, paint, molding & quarter round, grout, wall board, etc. His quote was the middle quote of the three we obtained, and well below the highest quote. The Ferco workers took all our trash and their trash with them, and covered the carpet and floor with plastic on the big demolition days. We are looking towards doing our kitchen next year, and I am definitely going to call Ferco for a quote.
Description of Work: We had an impossibly pink bath (pink floor tiles, pink sinks and counters, pink tub and surround, and pink toilet) gutted. Ferco widened a narrow walk way and raised the ceiling above the tub to be at the same level as the rest of the ceiling. They put in the new cabinets we had ordered, re-tiled the floor and the tub surround, and put in a new toilet. Lighting and an electrical outlet were moved. And all was repainted.

We contracted with Mr. Carrebo to start work on June 11th between 8:30am and 9am. He called at 8:35am to let me know they were 10 minutes away. Before they stepped into our house, they laid down tarps. Mr. Carrebo introduced his crew, reviewed again the work we wanted done and they immediately started to work. The walls were all inspected and repaired as necessary (filling nail holes and various dings and cracks). The gentlemen he has working for him are experts in their craft and they take pride in their workmanship. They never took a break except for lunch and were always very professional. I thought at 5pm they were finished but they said they would be back the next morning to put a second coat on the walls. I thought it looked great, but they could see it was not meeting their quality standards. The next morning they arrived promptly and got right to work. Mr, Carrebo came by to check on progress and noticed we had a small area off the garage which I had not included in the painting quote. He offered to have that painted for an additional $50.00. During their final inspection, they decided the floor trim was not showcasing the freshly painted walls so they were painted also. When the painting was completed, all the furniture was replaced, floors swept, supplies and trash removed - you could not tell they had been here. Ferco is a company we will definitely use in the future. Seeing excellent reviews on paper is one thing - to actually have excellent results personally is priceless.
Description of Work: We wanted our foyer and great room painted. This involved painting 20 foot ceilings and crown molding in addition to the walls and trim around our palladium window. After checking out various contractors on Angie's List, I called Ferco. Mr. Carrebo was able to come that afternoon and give an estimate. I was very impressed that he arrived when he said he would, also with his understanding of the scope of work we wanted done, the confidence he exhibited, and the realistic estimate he provided. He assured me they would move all the heavy furniture, patch all the walls before painting, and let me decide if I wanted the picture nail holes patched or left visible for rehanging. He said there would be a crew of 3 to 4 and they should be able to complete the entire job in one day. When we decided to use his company, he came back to review again the work we wanted done, to pick up the paint chips for the colors we wanted and he worked with our schedule for the date to start.

Fast and beautifully done. Great communication and punctuality.
Description of Work: Fernando and his crew installed porcelain tile and baseboard molding in the master bedroom and repaired the tile job I tried to do myself in the master bath. They were punctual, quick, polite, and did beautiful work. Fernando's estimate was $500 less than another Angie's list provider and if you want a contractor who works constantly and gets the job done efficiently (without spending half the day on his cell phone, like other contractor's do) call Ferco.
Ferco and company turned a dingy ugly basement garage into a nice comfortable den. He also remodeled the basement bathroom the previous owners had used to wash their dogs, so needless to say it was a disaster area. Ferco turned it into a nice bathroom that I am now proud of by tearing out the old sink, putting in a new one, laying a new tile floor, installing new faucets and fixtures, painting the ceiling and walls. He ripped out all the old steps from the staircase and replaced with beautiful new oak ones that were stained to match perfectly the current upstairs flooring. He insulated the concrete floor and put down a beautiful laminate floor. He installed shoe molding throughout the new den, stairs and bathroom. He also put in a drop ceiling with lighting, installed a sconce light, put in a ceiling brace for a movie projector, made new doorways and hung new doors. Now I have a lovely get away space instead of the dark dingy former garage. I liked Ferco and I liked Jasper and the painters. Everyone was always very professional and very polite and their work is 100% top quality. And they cleaned up after them selves. I would hire again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Basement garage was framed in, doorways created, doors hung, walls insulated, and sheet rock installed, drop ceiling installed, lighting fixtures, flooring insulated and laminate installed, heater/air conditioner moved and drip line installed, sprinkler system control panel moved, bathroom remodeled, tile installed, old staircase steps ripped out and new one installed, doors installed, shoe molding installed, interior painting, ceiling mount for projector installed, electrical lines moved and or new ones put in.

it was a pleasant experience. the fellow came and i told him what was going on. he checked the showerhead and took the gooseneck off and then said the drywall would have to be cut for him to fix the leak. he did that and fixed the leak and then put the drywall pieces back in the holes and compounded around them and left. it was a very good experience.
Description of Work: i had a leak running to the shower head from the tub plumbing. the technican came, diagnosed the problem and then after cutting two holes in the drywall (i knew that had to be done), fixed the leak. then he patched the drywall back and put joint compound for me to finish. he said he would come back to finish that but i told him i could handle that part. he was very professional and neat appearance. he did not dress like a plumber but he was very adept at what he did. i would definitely use him again.
