FERCO

On a previous job, Fernando redid the back splash in my kitchen to perfection. I had full confidence he could turn my 28 year old bathrooms "into a spa". That's really all that needed to be said! This man and his team can do anything....my bathrooms are now a sparkling testament to his talent,integrity and good taste. He not only helped me pick the colors and the tile, he found marble for the most amazing vanities. Fernando also redid all the plumbing fixtures, the lighting fixtures, and towel bars and redid the hardware on the cabinets. I absolutely love it. Another thing that always impresses me with Fernando: his honesty,integrity, and work ethic. I wanted to ditch the tubs but he said it wasn't necessary (really) and he was right. A contractor who turns down work because he doesn't think something needs to be replaced (really)? His tile work alone makes him the "tile king" and I now have spa bathrooms at a great price. My daughter just moved into a fixer upper and when she saw the tile-"please,please let me have a new kitchen backsplash for Christmas and include my birthday in January". Another job for Fernando after the New Year!. He is THE right man to call when something needs to be done quickly and done well.

I was disappointed. When it got down to making the final arrangements with them, they didn't call and didn't show up for the appointment. The gentlemen had a good excuse; he had a death in the family. I told him we could delay the contract but he said he didn't want to. I made an appointment with him, and he didn't show up until 24 hours later. At that point I didn't need him anymore.

Very nice work. Fernando is thorough, proffesional, punctual and his employees are great. Very nice job in all areas and I am having him back in the near future to tile my bathrooms.

Overall the removal of the texture, skimming and painting of ceilings went extremely well as did the painting of all walls. The job looks terrific and I am very happy with the bright new look of our home. Fernando was punctual and kept in communication with the crew. He double checked the colors I had chosen for each wall and was able to ensure a potential mistake was avoided. His crew did do a couple of things on their own that I was really impressed with. First, they took time to make sure the seam running down the middle of our cathedral ceiling was as straight as it could be (it looks better than it did originally). Second, our pantry has a back section closed off by bi-fold doors to create a storage area for mops, brooms, and the like. There was a noticeable gap where the drywall met the ceiling and the guys taped this before painting. I would also say that you cannot tell where the extra attic hatch was with the great job they did replacing it with drywall and painting. Having read the comments on Angie's List before contacting Fernando, I was ready with a list of things to be done because ours was a fairly large job and Fernando does not write anything down (true to the comments). He gave a verbal quote, and I wrote it down on my list and made a copy for him. The only advice I would have for Fernando as his business grows is to 1) develop a quotation system because with the quality of work for the pricing you are going to be a very busy person and 2) invest in some heavier weight poly to protect flooring, window frames, etc. We put 6-mil poly over our doorways and that kept a lot of the dust from the texture removal, skimming, and sanding at bay, but putting down better poly on the floor and at the windows would have saved a lot of clean up (the very thin poly does not really perform well for the extent of this work). I would also equip workers with booties for these types of jobs and have them remove them as they leave the house; we have places to clean up where shoes tracked dust and paint out onto our porch, stamped concrete and brick steps. This will ensure that your jobs are professional from start to finish. I don't want to give the impression to those considering whether to contact Fernando or not that these are major problems; he just needs to kick it up a notch to take his company to the next level. Meanwhile, if you, the user of his services, will be prepared to invest in some good poly yourselves and place it before the crew arrives, you may find your clean-up a lot easier. We plan to do our bedrooms next and will definitely call on Fernando and his crew again. I also have a bathroom downstairs that will need wallpaper removed prior to re-painting and I have a drywall project in mind for our ceiling. I would have no hesitation in asking Fernando to look at these items as well since I was so impressed with his company's work.

Got here on time on the designated day. Booked it less than a week from initial contact. His team came in and did their work. They mostly speak Spanish, but Fernando is fluent in English. All went well, they got all this work done in a day, cleaned up. He said if there was anything I noticed after they left he would be happy to come back and fix anything. It all looks good!

FERCO is not a bad company and overall we were more or less satisfied. Workers were punctual and polite and the job was done in good time. The main problems came at the end of the job. The workers left without finishing the painting and caulking on one window frame sill they'd replaced. It took more than a couple of days to get them to come back out, and they only caulked in some areas and did not finish painting one window frame (we called for them to come finish and did not get a commitment for them to return). The trim work was good in most areas, but this window, the gaps between the window frame and the sill are much larger and more subject to future water infiltration than before. Also, the sill on a 3-window frame in front is at best horizontal and has no positive slope for drainage. I commented on these items, but they were passed off as normal (I've never seen an exterior window sill that is not sloped noticably for drainage). When the gutters were prepped for painting, several of our gutter screens ended up in the shrubs and would have been left off if we hadn't told them to replace them. Even then not all were replaced properly. We will probably elect to go with another contractor for similar work in the future.

The experience was fine but it wasn't the lowest quote I received so I decided not to go with them.

They did a great job on everything at a good price. They do quality work and were very accommodating to our schedule, paint choices and trustworthy. We felt they were giving us an honest price and never looking to take advantage of the situation. I'm quite picky about workmanship and could not find fault with any of their work. This is a first for any painter we've used.

I called them on Friday and Fernando gave me a quote. I told him I was on a short deadline. He agreed to have the job done in 5 days. They started on Sat. & were done by Thurs. The guys did an excellent job. They were very prompt and cleaned the mess up everyday. It was a pleasure doing business with these guys. They went above and beyond my expectations! I definitely intend to use them again.

Fernando and his crew are fantastic to work with, and I am a very picky person when comes to contractors. Very rarely do you find someone who volunteers to go the extra mile. For the first time, I think we got more than what we paid for! His work was professional and on time. If there is something you want done that you feel requires close attention to detail, you probably ought to be present while the work is being completed.

My experience with them was okay but I didn?t use their services. The painter offered good price and he was good too. If need be, then I might use his services in the future.

The estimate went great. I went with them because of all the reviews on Angie's List. The owner came out and gave the estimate. He was very professional and very honest. I was very impressed. The estimate was very reasonable. l am tickled pink with the work they are doing. He basically gave me the estimate for all the labor. I bought all the paint, the sheetrock, and the tile. I am buying all the supplies and he just gave me the estimate for the work. I haven't asked him to do anything that he can't do. If he is going to be late he lets me know. It's not like I am sitting here waiting for him to come. They are working here right now. They have been here almost two weeks already and he thinks he might finish up sometime this weekend. They are doing a super job. The more they do the more I find for them to do.

They were excellent. The ceramic tile turned out great. The only problem is some leakage near the shower wall. He was prompt in coming to fix problems. I would definitely use them again. They were reasonably priced. They did all of this work in the three days before Christmas.

Fernando got the 3 painters started and then left, he would check back at the end of the day. The painters worked hard all day, with a short lunch break. They did not spend time talking or standing around. The used drop cloths, but we still had a couple of paint drops which they cleaned up. We had moved the small pieces of furniture out of the rooms and they took care of moving the large pieces. Fernando pitched in to help them finish up on the third day of painting. Fernando is professional and pleasant to work with; his crew is also careful and polite. We would use him again.

I was very pleased, overall, with the service.

Fernando and a crew of three men came at 9am and started promptly. Moved all furniture to center of room and covered with plastic. Covered floor and counters very well. They plastered and sanded walls that needed repair and started to paint. These guys are amazing! I couldn't believe how fast they could get the painting done and it still looks GREAT! It would have taken me a month of working every night to do what they did in a day. For the price, quality, and friendliness, you can't beat Fernando!

Fernando arrived in the morning around his stated time. He gave me a price for the entire work that was reasonable, and also added a couple more requests during the job at a reasonable rate. His crew was respectful of our home, especially during the Christmas holidays, and cleaned up daily. I also would advise that you at least get the final job and quote in writing on a pad of some sort. Even speaking in Spanish, which I am fluent, there was a misunderstanding on my part on the quote that was resolved after he requested an amount for the supplies needed for the tile. We discussed the disparity and quickly came to an agreement, but it could have been very disastrous if not caught until the end. A written agreement would have helped, even if I would have written down what was agreed on as a reference. Overall, we will continue to use FERCO for future services on our home and our rental properties.

Fernando was as great as his other evaluations state! He came promptly to review the job. Gave estimate that was almost 50% lower than others we had received and did not exceed it. The quality of his work was excellent. He started the job on time. He arrived with a crew of 4-5 who worked quietly and were extremely polite and courteous. Although Spanish was their primary language communication in English was no problem. After the first day there was usually only 1-2 workers. Fernando checked in at least 2 times in the day. The only problem was things looked so good that I kept adding to the job which Fernando despite being very busy on other jobs managed to fit in. He even hooked up a new sink for us. He is a pleasure to work with. I would definitely hire him again and have already recomended him to others. I would never have found him without Angie's list.

The crew was on time as promised. We had old wall paper that we wanted to have removed and the wall painted. We also painted walls other than the wall papered walls. The crew was well behaved, no smoking or eating in the house and they were careful not to make a mess. The job went well and they were out before 4:30 PM the same day. We will certainly call upon them for the next project.

Two man crew arrived around 9am, got to work immediately. Finished by 5 or 6pm. Fernando came back next afternoon to check everything, he said he was not happy with the ceiling and he went to Home Depot himself and bought Klitzs came back to the house and painted the ceiling that evening. Everything looks wonderful, this was the worst room in the house and now it looks the best. They cleaned up after themselves. Will use them again in the future and I'm letting some of my family know about him also

After reading the many glowing reports on Angie's list, I didn't hesitate to get in touch with Fernando Correa. He came right over to my house and we discussed what I wanted done. After a couple days went by with no feedback, I called Fernando. He had lost my phone number, but had a verbal verbal quote ready. He promised to start work within a few days, which he did. Fernando did not spend much time at my house while his people were working. I went over the first day to see how the floor sanding was going. There was one man sanding and another pulling up baseboard quarter-round molding. The sander spoke good English and said he didn't know how to find his way back to Greenville, so I had to return to my apartment and get him a map. He said that his wife did house cleaning, and that for a fee he and she would clean all the sanding dust out of the house when the job was finished. As if that wasn't included in the price! When Fernando called to tell me the floor was finished, I hurried over from my apartment, ready to be delighted. NOT!! Rather than looking professionally refinished, the floor is heavily rippled over a large amount of the surface. This is the expected result when untrained workers sand a hardwood floor, but hardly what I had expected from Fernando. What about all those ecstatic reports on Angie's list? What happened? Fernando didn't have much to say when I pointed out the flaws - I got a shrug and a smile from him. My wife and I didn't have time for lawsuits or other recourse, but Fernando definitely did not do a professional job on my floor and did not volunteer to make it right. His crew also repainted the floor molding, doors, and closets inside the house. It looks okay, but I believe he didn't paint the new quarter-round molding - he bought it primed and installed it without painting. There were several places where the white paint got on the green walls. I had asked Fernando to add two circuits in the garage and two overhead lights. What I got instead were two new electrical outlets wired into the existing circuits, plus one new light. I asked Fernando to fill in some gaps in the mortar on our brick porch steps. He did, but failed to remove the excess mortar from the bricks afterwards. Fernando's crew was generally neat and didn't leave a lot of stuff lying around at the end of the day, but they only did a so-so job of final cleanup. Lots of dust remained, there was a paint tray and roller left in the kitchen sink, and several large plastic buckets of trash were left on the patio. Fernando speaks a good bit of English, but I'm not sure he understands everything you tell him. I would STRONGLY advise that you get a written quote. I was overly-dependent on the Angie's List ratings and relied on a verbal contract. Big mistake. I have photographs to document all the problems I've described. Anybody who's planning to hire Fernando to do their hardwood floor, maybe you better drop by and have a look at mine first. You're invited. I'm quite disappointed in the results, but I love my new/old house and will try to pretend the flaws aren't there. If I need work done in the future, I'll probably use a different method of choosing a contractor.

Workers were polite, stuck to the task, did woodwork with skill, re-painted the walls. When they were finished they cleaned up everything, checked for spills, removed their equipment, all with a minimum of disruption to our activities. My kitchen looks like new.

They were on time and reasonably priced. Communication can be a problem because the employee had a very thick accent, but in the end it was not a huge deal. Overall, the experience was excellent. We liked him so much that we hired him for another big project for that he is getting ready to start on.

My experience with Fernando and his crew was exceptional. We just moved to the area and purchased a home that had been vacant for a period of time and sorely needed a good quality coat of paint. Not knowing anyone in the area, we turned to Angie's list to help us with the decision. Fernando responded immediately to our contact to him asking for a quote. He gave us a very fair quote and offered to expand his services to cover a few additional tasks that needed to be completed. My husband was out of town and I had to work while the crew worked on my home - including the need to leave the home unlocked so that several doors could be detailed - which was a huge leap of faith since we had no personal relationship with Ferco until then. His crew showed up at the house exactly when they promised and set to work power washing the outside of the home with surprising intensity. I was amazed and delighted at the amount of work that was completed at the end of each day - they were obviously productive and the quality of work was very satisfying. We love the outcome. Fernando was a joy to work with, completely trustworthy and runs a tight operation. We will definitely use them again for several upcoming remodeling projects.
