Description of Work: residential move in two phases. 1) home to apartment and to storage. 2) from apartment and storage to new home. B&BM was very customer friendly but some things that were clearly marked for apartment were sent to storage. I had to intercept the truck to get them back as they unloaded at storage. that was an extra two hours of my time. BB&M switched storage facility to a more expensive option and did not tell me until i received the bill. some things were damaged but it was minor. mostly i was disappointed that there was not an inventory list and numbered stickers on the items moved to better track them. But, they are very friendly and responsive as you might expect from a family owned business. Still, the move cost more than estimated and if i were to move again i would probably try a different service that provided an inventory list.

Thank you for your feedback [Member Name Removed]. We appreciate the feedback. [Member Name Removed] is correct, the storage did cost a little more as we had to use 3 10x10's vs. 1 10x30 because of availability. We will try and ensure we communicate this to our customers going forward. It's never our intention to miscommunicate estimates. Typically whenever we move a entire house to storage we always take an inventory, but when it's split like this it's usually done on the fly with the customer regarding what's going to the residence vs. storage. We will ensure we ask that of our customers going forward. Thanks again for choosing Ballantyne & Beyond Moving, inc. Best regards, Greg

I spoke with Josh on Monday and he set up an appointment for Thursday at 3:00 PM. He said Ken would be coming out to do the estitmate. At 4:30 pm on Thursday, no one had shown up or called. So I called the office and spoke to someone on the phone. I explained that Ken was supposed to have been there and had not shown up. Much to my surprise, the person on the phone was Ken. He said he had no idea he was supposed to be there. I heard shuffling and a conversation and then he came back and said that no one put the note on his desk. No apology. Just some lame explanation that the information never got to him. He offered to come the next day to do the estimate. He showed up on time and walked through the house. He was dressed like he was going out on his boat or to a picnic. I don't mind that some folks like to dress casually for work, but I would expect that if you are going to be visiting a potential customer you would dress a little more professionally. He also made me uncomfortable as a woman alone in my house without my husband there if you get my drift. I was unimpressed with them since they were unable to show up as promised and then didn't like the lack of professionalism of their estimator. I have since found a very nice company who showed up when they said they would and were dressed like they were interested in doing business with us.

Response from Ballantyne & Beyond Moving Inc
Typically if there is a scheduling conflict we will assume the customer is ALWAYS right and do our very best to resolve the matter with extreme urgency and simply move forward , however, since [member name removed] decided to write such a ridiculous testimony, I must respond . Apparently she had mistaken our estimate with another movers estimate and date as both our work order and our calendar indicated the appointment was for the following day not to mention Josh's notes matches this. Josh also recalls speaking to her and specifically scheduling the time and date because we did not have availability the day before as she initially requested. Rather than confronting our potential customer with the facts, we did apologize and rescheduled for the following day. I have been in the Moving and Storage business for 22 plus years and 15- 20 estimates per week for the last 9 years and have never been forward or accused of with any potential customers, this is shocking to read. RE Dress code: I had on Company issued Cintas Shorts and a company Ballantyne & Beyond T-shirt - the same uniform you will see our men show up for on a move. At Ballantyne & Beyond Customer service, professionalism and performance are always our most important issues. Our Angie's List reviews speaks for themselves. The facts are we never moved [member name removed] we did arrive and give her a professional estimate and I am very surprised at her reaction and I feel it is completely unjustifiable.

Clay, Fernando, Charles, Jay and James were outstanding! They arrived promptly as scheduled, worked tirelessly, disassembled, wrapped, moved and reassembled the furniture as if it was their own. The furniture was in the same condition on the receipt end as it was in our former home. The guys were easy to deal with and had good personalities and made this difficult and stressful situation fairly easy. Even when i told them to take an item upstairs and my wife re-directed it back downstairs on several occasions they just went with the flow. Great job guys and thanks for a job well done! Ray

The move went extremely well with only one minor ding noted. Promptly on time, the Band amp;B team was hardworking, efficient and quick. The job took 7.5 hours to move more than 8,000 lbs. (my unofficial estimate) from house-to-house, with a stop at a storage unit before the job ended. The cost I paid (including gratuity) was reasonable and still under-ran the estimate. The crew was friendly, but remained focused on the job. We have another move (ugh) to make in the future. We will definitely hire Band amp;B again.
Description of Work: Movers came with five-man crew (this was a differentiator among other movers who estimated my job). Five-man crew allowed two teams of two to move furniture while one guy supervised the packing of the truck -- highly efficient! Move consisted of a four bedroom, 2,400-sq. ft, single family home. B&B team moved all major furniture as well as a garage filled with a significant number of boxes and items (from a small business) into another (albeit smaller home) and a storage unit. Great care was taken to protect items with wraps and floor runners.

They were professional. They were good; I would use them again. They weren't the fastest when they were packing the truck. My car broke down at my new house and I was trying to go back and get them or let them into my condo to start moving; the owner actually came to pick me up. They went above and beyond any other moving company I could foresee doing.

Move went very well. It was complicated in that we were picking up furniture from four different houses in the Charlotte area to move to a house in the mountains. The movers, Clay and Chris were awesome. They worked very efficiently, were very polite and reassuring that all would go well - which it did.

The move was GREAT! I purchased the saw from Woodcraft in Matthews, NC. Woodcraft loaded the saw onto my little (4’x8’) folding trailer. After strapping the saw to the trailer I towed it home to my garage in Sun City Carolina Lakes, Indian Land, SC. The saw was way too heavy for me, even with the help of friends, to move, so I asked Ballantyne and amp; Beyond (Band amp;B) to move the saw. I called Band amp;B on Friday the 4th and spoke with Kenneth, the manager. I described the nature of the move and, as I wasn’t in any hurry, I told him we could schedule the move at his convenience. Because this was only a one-item move, I was completely agreeable to scheduling it as “filler” work. Kenneth suggested Monday the 7th in the afternoon. He had several crews doing moves that day and he was sure that one would be available in the afternoon. Unfortunately, I wasn’t purchasing the saw until Wednesday the 8th. We agreed that Thursday afternoon, between noon and 4:00, would be a good time for both of us. Wednesday evening Kenneth called me. One of his moves the next day depended on a home closing which was being delayed. He asked if his movers could make my move at 9:00 AM the next morning rather than in the afternoon. That worked really well for me. At 8:50 AM on Thursday morning Mike and Charles from Band amp;B arrived at my home and assessed the options for moving the saw: through the house and down the basement stairs or transferring the saw from the trailer to their hand truck and then down the sloping yard along the side of the house to the double exterior doors at the back of the basement. After the three of us evaluated the options, we decided the best approach would be to leave the saw where it was, grab the tung of the trailer and guide it down the grade at the side of the house. The wide stance of the trailer wheels and their twelve inch diameter gave great stability as Mike and Charles guided the trailer down the sloping, uneven ground. They backed the trailer up to the basement doors, unstrapped the saw, tilted the trailer up and gently slid the saw off the trailer onto two furniture dollies. They then dragged the trailer back to its home in my garage and were done. The whole operation took about twenty minutes. I was really pleased. Mike and Charles were very polite and professional. They exhibited the flexibility to consider all possible solutions to the move, including some that were outside those normally employed in their work. The move was accomplished safely without a scratch on either my home or the box containing the saw and without the slightest bump to the saw as it was being transferred from the trailer to the dollies. That evening Kenneth called me to follow up on the move. I’ve employed six different moving companies in the past and no one in management from any of those firms ever called me after the moved was completed. I highly recommend Ballantyne and Beyond.
Description of Work: Ballantyne & Beyond moved a boxed table saw weighing 400+ pounds, 42" W x 31" D x 30" H, from my garage at ground level to my walkout-basement wood shop.

We had a large home and were moving into a smaller home. They came 1 week prior to the moving date and packed everything up in an extremely professional manner. Everything was packed very well and I had no damage at the receiving end. They came in a timely manner and had everything done with no hassle. He was in line with his quote. Overall, it was a very good experience. I spent around $4800 on that work.

We tipped them again and even gave them a couple of beers. I laid down and zoned out.The next am my husband noticed our glass on the china cabinet was cracked. I called Ken Scallion(Owner) he said I signed the paper for no damages.I said "dont you have insurance" He said he had a $1500 deductible. He agreed to replace the glass.(Approx value $10-$20) I now need a furniture repairman because the glass has to be "braided in". I gave these guys a $75 tip. They suck!
Description of Work: My husband &I had our floors refinished. BBMC Moved furniture out & back in (2 moves)The reason we used a Professional Service to do the move for our heavier quality pieces was for peace of mind that they had insurance. Otherwise I could have had a couple of guys do it. The move out went well enough. They were tipped. I requested the same guys for the move back in. Before I had them move my things into the house I injured my back moving, clean, etc. I had to be on Hydrocodone&steroids. I was in pain.My husband was trying to put glides on the furniture so they wouldnt scratch our newly finished floors. Before the move was complete the movers told me to initial his paperwork(Where was my mind?)

Response from Ballantyne & Beyond Moving Inc
RE Member review. The Member called 2 weeks after her move to share with us how much medication she was on and to say "I was just was not with it on the move back day". This we (Ballantyne & Beyond) are sorry for and we would have rescheduled her move back if requested, no problem. She explains a piece of glass is damaged on her china hutch. After a few questions I discover it's not the glass doors on the outside of china hutch but rather a glass shelf inside the hutch. After reviewing the Member's paper work I asked her if our lead man asked her to inspect her items and do a walk through, she said yes but I did not. I asked her what could we do the take care of this situation. She said replace the glass, do you have insurance? I said yes but it's a $1500 deductable, we will take care of it and have one cut right away, please get me the measurements. She called the next day with measurements. We offered to deliver and install the glass shelf on the same day. She said "thats okay I will have my husband pick it up I'm sure he can put it in as he removed all the glass before". Please keep in mind (readers) our men never removed any glass nor did we ever replace any glass in the cabinet, the customer did in efforts to save time and money. The general rule is if we dismantle, we reassemble. The Members had all pieces prepped (all glass removed) when our men arrived. I also personally offered again to deliver and install the glass and she declined saying "my husband goes right by your warehouse everyday, thanks any way". The Member picked the glass shelf up and thats the last we heard of the Member. While all tips are appreciated, for whats it's worth our men both five plus years with our company, indicated a $12.50 tip per man ($25.00 split) on the move back and no tip on the move out. A $75 tip would be excessive for a 1.5 hour move. We feel offering to replace the glass, deliver and install would be the right thing to do. Both men indicated the Member made no sense on the move back, was intoxicated "smelled like a brewery" and was very difficult to communicate with. We will always go above and beyond our legal limitations to please all customers as we offered in the Member's case. Our men are not allowed to accept any alcohol on any move and will be immediately terminated if they do. Both men denied accepting the Member offer for a beer. Sincerely, Owner Ballantyne & Beyond Moving & Storage Kenneth J Scallions

The crew from Ballantyne arrived on time and worked very hard from the moment they arrived. The were consciousness and took a lot of pride in their work and were fun to work with even though it was 95+ degrees that day. The move took less time than expected so the cost was less than the estimate. Even though there aren't many reviews for Ballantyne, you should definitely give them a call and get an estimate. I don't think you will be disappointed.
Description of Work: We moved to another home within our neighborhood. We were moving from a 4 bedroom 3200 square foot home. After receiving an outrageous quote ($5,300) from a competitor (and highly rated company on Angie's List) we found Ken at Ballantyne who promptly came over for an estimate. He understood that we wanted to do this move as cheaply as possible and gave us many ideas to save money. In the end, his $1,100 estimate cost us $850.
