We had a major hail storm in our area. We had multiple roofing companies come into our neighborhood soliciting business. I wanted a local business. Using Angie's List, I found Dave. He is eager and passionate about his work. He gave me several samples to choose a roofing material. He listened and was very responsive. The crew showed up, got to work and was done within 7 hours. They cleaned up the yard and extra material was neatly stacked by the driveway. The extra material was picked up the same day. The ultimate recommendation is my mother used him to replace her roof after she saw mine. We are both very happy.

We found David Smith whose company is Home Wrappers through Angie's List and we thought he was fabulous and we're thoroughly pleased with him. We had received four quotes and his was right in line with everybody else, but it was just his level of detail and personal attention that was better. He was also very thorough and is absolutely passionate about roofing. It was a personal task for him and when he was up on our roof looking at the condition of it he actually fixed some stuff with no problem before we hired him all because he noticed something was loose. His crew was totally efficient and were polite. They were nice and smiled and waved. The cleanup was perfect and there wasn't a single nail left at the house. He showed up personally and checked the cleanup and did some extra sweeping. It takes a little time to get on his schedule, but it was totally worth it and I feel completely confident that the job he did was a honest good job. He worked with us on the color of the roof and the different kinds of shingles and their benefits. It was just so thorough and so professional that we were completely blown away. It was amazing and I thought his price was completely reasonable and his service level was higher. He could be a little bit slow in responding but that's because he's such an intense person and is very focused on whatever job he's doing, so once you have him you really got him and he follows through completely.
Description of Work: We used David Smith with Home Wrappers to install our roof, but we also had some wood work done and some other maintenance that he took care of.

Mr. Smith came out quickly, did the work in a professional manner, and was reasonably priced. I will definitely share his company with other clients who need help with siding.
Description of Work: Mr. Smith of Homewrappers corrected vinyl siding that needed securing on a home I recently sold through my real estate company. While I did not personally meet him, my seller was pleased with his service and the work was completed efficiently and economically.

David and his crew put a brand new roof on my house and they did a great job! I contacted David through Angies's list and he responded within 24 hours, he was able to inspect my roof within a couple of days of our speaking and he provided me an estimate within a week of initial contact. David was very communicative throughout the whole process and brought me samples of the different type shingles I was considering. At all times, he was a professional and helped me understand what he found during his inspection and the options for doing the needed repairs and roof replacement. He even did a temporary repair of a trouble spot when he did the inspection. I found David to be a forthright and honest person as well as willing to listen to my questions and concerns and provide me enough feedback so that I could make an informed decision. Other companies I contacted either took two-three weeks to respond or never called back after I initiated contact. David, on the other hand, was very responsive and also patient with my schedule which was often hectic and required me to change appointment times. One more thing, David has done work for people I know and they recommended his work as well. David's crew is also to be commended. They arrived very early, went immediately to work and took care of business. They were courteous and respectful and they took care not to damage my potted plants that were on my porch. They also cleaned up after the job was done and you would not have known they were there! People walking by marveled at how efficiently they took off all the old roofing down to the wood and put the new materials on in one day! I have gotten several compliments on how good the roof looks. I plan on using David's services again for other work I want done.
Description of Work: A new roof was installed on my house which included new felt, new starter shingles, flashing around my chimneys, replacement of damaged wood and new architectural shingles.

When it was time to replace my roof used angie's list to get some roofer lined up for quotes. I emailed David and he responded right away. He came and gave his quote, which I was fully pleased with. All others quotes did not have replacement boards included in the quotes and David's did. Once price was set, David helped in setting a price I could afford, The date was set. The guys showed up about 10am, which was perfect since I work second shift. They immediatly went to work. They replaced the roof, took out leaking sky lights, and replaced rottd boards, and out on lovely new shingles. When done they checked the yard for nails, cleaned everything up to the point could not even tell they where here. The guys where done in 8hrs, which I was tottally impressed with. David then came out and made sure all was fixed correctly. When I let him know two exhaust fans had stopped working, he checked them and fixed them. David and his guys are completly proffesional and cannot wait to use them again to do the gutters on my house. Thanks david and your whole crew. Great job.

They said they would be at my house on 9-14-12 to give me an estimate on my roof, however, they never showed up, never called to say SORRY, never called to reschedule, NO NOTHING. I have since found a company from Gilbert, S.C. and they are scheduling my new roof. Is it really that hard to actually show up to do an estimate? I will not be calling Home Wrappers for anything in the future.
Description of Work: I called Home Wrappers on 9-10-12. I got voice mail, so I left a voice mail and David called me back the next day. He said he would come look at my roof and give me an estimate on 9-14-12, however, HE NEVER SHOWED UP! NEVER CALLED, NO NOTHING!! We don't need their services anymore, because I have chosen a roofer that actually cared enough to show up. I don't know about other people, but I refuse to chase down a company that I was interested in hiring to do work for me.

Unfortunate Posting. Our records indicate that I personally measured her home on the 14th. There was no one home when I stopped by. My proposal in her file is dated the 18th. We send all proposals out via email. I never heard back until this posting came thru. In future, we will follow up emails with a confirmation call; and request the customer give us a courtesy call if it was not received.I am very frustrated that technology kept us apart and we were unable to have the opportunity to serve the member. I still believe that Spectacular Performance is preceded by UnSpectacular Preparation. Blessings, David

I contacedt David for an estimate. We set up an appointment and he arrived on time to inspect my roof. During the inspection he made the necessary repairs, inspected the entire roof, and fixed minor spots as needed. Also he sealed around my chimney. Removed the tarp and bricks that I had covering the area I thought was leaking. He was very professional and gave me a very fair price to make the repairs. I have not had any problems with my roof since. I plan to call him again when I get the boots replaced on my roof in the next couple of years as he suggested.

We needed a new roof and contacted several contractors for estimates. David of Home Wrappers give us an estimate, and even though he knew we still had a couple more estimates coming from other companies, he blew pine straw off our roof and put a "patch" around one of our pipes that was leaking when it rained to keep us dry until the new roof could be put on at no charge. His price was competitive and he gave us a good feeling about having his team do our work. His roofing team arrived 10 minutes early, set everything up to protect our property and promptly started taking the old shingles off. Even though the team could have left at 5 p.m. and come back the next day to finish the roof, they stayed until after 9 p.m. They did come back the next day to make sure everything was nailed down properly and to clean up any bits of trash or nails were missed during the original cleaning session. David was very courteous and professional every time we had contact with him and we were pleased with his company's work. And we thank him for trimming the bushes in the front yard!

Weather presented many challenges that patience on the part of Homewrappers and the homeowner were necessary and it all worked out beautifully because of attentive and professional communication. This was a labor intensive job with a crew of 3 working several days. The application of layers of material required dry weather. The heat of the season was intense as the work was finished. I believe that we made an excellent choice in Homewrappers and I heartily endorese this company. We have a written 10-year warranty that is transferrable should we move. Instead of a black roof, the new roof is coated with a white reflective material that is keeping the the porch cooler.
Description of Work: The roof over the back veranda of our two story house has been an issue about every 4 years for more than 20 years. I found Homewrappers on Angie's List. The business owner came the next day and covered the part of the house and roof to prevent further damage to the sheet rock ceiling which is about 12' x 36'. We discussed options of repairs and decided to pitch the roof, remove damaged wood, and apply a relatively new process of layered materials. What was a mostly flat roof has been attractively pitched to allow for proper drainage. This required reducing the size of one of the windows with a smaller replacement window, refitting siding outside and sheet rock/drywall inside. The trim of the edge of the roof and siding to allow coverage of the pitch was done as well. Instead of a black roof, it is co

After searching Angie's List & checking out potential roofing companies I emailed Home Wrappers and asked to be contacted. David called me shortly thereafter and set up and appointment to meet with me. He showed on time with the usual roofing samples. He was friendly & well informed about the brands of shingles he carried answering all my questions. He even asked to come back so he could get my wife's impute on color & style which he did a few days later. This was really helpful since my wife's ideas & mine were miles apart. Once the brand, style & color were decided on David brought a bunch of the shingles over and put them on the roof for us to see. That sealed the deal for us and we signed the contract & out down a 25% deposit. The job was slated to begin on June 13th and take two days. Unfortunately we got rained out but David kept me informed what was going on. The work started the next day when his 7 or 8 man crew showed up at 8:30 AM ready to work. There was no standing around. They all seem to know what their job was and wasted no time setting up their equipment and getting right to work. And WORK they did! They stripped off the old roofing down to the wood in just a couple of hours and started preparing for the new roof installation. They laid down all new felt, used a rubberized membrane around the chimney, dormers, and valleys. They also installed a new type of starter strip around the perimeter. The workers never left the job site & worked until 9:00 PM (after getting my approval to stay late) getting about 90% of the job done. Even after being up on the roof on 90 plus degree weather all day they still took time to clean up the job site before leaving. The next day David addressed a couple of small issues I had and corrected everything to my satisfaction. He never once made me feel like I was asking too much or was just being picky. The crew came back & finished all the detail work & did the final cleanup. After the work crew finished David did his final inspection with me. He CAREFULLY inspected all aspects of the job & explained everything until I was satisfied. He explained the warranty & answered all my questions. It was one of the best experiences I've had working with a contractor. Home Wrappers deserves your trust. The workers were polite & punctual. They worked hard & I never saw any of them loafing. They were respectful of my property & plants. They earned their pay on this job.

The most part of my roofing cost was covered by my insurance. He is very professional and really a great personable individual. He is a real plain spoken individual. He doesn’t give me too much extraneous information. He came out and talked to me in terms of that I could understand about the roof and the condition of the roof. He talked to me about what he could do and how the payment would go. He helped me for the fact that how much would the insurance would assist. He explained to me the types of shingles that I can put on, the pros and cons, and different cost that were involved. From that point of view, he did a good a job and the price was very good too. Then he gave me a schedule of what he was going to do and he was one of the few people that I know that have met the schedule. He was here on time at 7 AM, his team workers were here on time with all the materials and they were ready to do the work. I couldn't believe how quickly they were able to strip the low shingles off and put the new shingles on. Then he cleaned up the area very well. They used a magnet to go 360 degrees around the house to pick up many of the nails that may have come down. I can work in my garden without worrying about hitting on a nail. So I was really very pleased with that. He comes back periodically and blows off my roof for no charge. He does more then I would expect him to do. He did a fine job for me. I’m very pleased with him.

We had some leaks on our roof and were not satisfied with the overall cosmetics of it, and shopped 5+ local roofers in the Columbia, SC area. David and 3 others came out to inspect our roof and give us estimates. While his estimate was not the lowest, it was the most complete and his explanation of services, as well as variables to the estimate, was excellent. In comparison to the other estimates Home Wrapper's couldn't be beat, mainly because of their 10 year labor warranty, which was unparalleled by ALL the other companies. On the date of service, the crew was early and did an excellent job of protecting our landscaping, as well as cleaning up after themselves. We did find some leftover debris (roofing nails, mostly), but it was minimal. They went above and beyond by painting the fan vent to match the color of the roof, adding the ridge vent that was missing, and roofed our dog house to match. We are very happy with our new roof, and feel that it was well worth our money. We plan to have David and his crew return to install new gutters, when we have finished a couple of other projects.
Description of Work: We had our entire roof re-shingled, including replacement of damaged plywood, where necessary, as well as the addition of a ridge vent and replacement of existing chimeny flashing. We also had the gutters removed, in preperation for replacement.

The person’s name is David Smith. I wrote him an email on Saturday night and he called me on a Monday morning to schedule an appointment for Wednesday afternoon. He was here on Wednesday half an early for the appointment, which was great. He came and looked at the problem which was a leak in the roof and he assessed it as well as explained everything. He then got up on the roof and repaired it. Thereafter, we have not had any problem. He didn’t charge me anything as it was just half an hour job, but e fixed the problem well. He was a wonderful man, to the point, fixed everything and was great. I recommend him and will continue to use him in the future.

One of the reasons Angie?s list was created is to help people feel assured about choosing an appropriate, reliable, professional contractor to work on one?s most treasured possession, one?s home. Recently, I had a problem with the roof and some of the ceilings in my home, which had occurred in part due to the negligence of a previously hired contractor who had cut through a ceiling joist, which resulted in a crash of the kitchen ceiling. That set up a rather scary lack of confidence and fear of moving forward with the repairs. In seeking someone trustworthy and effective, I asked friends, family and Facebook colleagues for help with referrals. I got very few good referrals but a lot of horror stories about who not to use. I spent quite a bit of time researching the possible choices through Better Business Bureau and review pages on the Internet. I got bids from seven or eight roofers; three of whom I found listed on Angie?s List with good reviews and scores. The first responder was David Smith with ?HomeWrappers.? He was eager, timely and had an estimate to me very quickly. He came by personally and took more time than any other roofing firm to tell me where the problems were and what he could do to address them. He was patient and put his assessment into terms a layperson could understand. He was enthusiastic and if there was a concern at that time, it might have been that he was overpromising. My previously inadequate contractor had been nice, too. But nice doesn?t keep the rain out. Once the rest of the promised estimates came in, I compared them. I noted whether or not they matched the specifications for my job. No one addressed every point except HomeWrappers. Once I knew I was comparing apples with apples, I noticed that HomeWrappers was close to the lowest bid. I have always been warned against accepting the lowest bid or the highest one, so I threw those out ? the lowest bid contractor was not willing to do some other work that was necessary, and the highest bid sent someone so terse and unfriendly that those decisions were ?no-brainers.? David Smith, the owner of HomeWrappers came personally to do a portion of the prep work that most of the other roofers expected me to hire out from a carpenter. He realized that I?m a busy person and to coordinate two contractors on one job was inconvenient, so he offers ?light carpentry? repairs on eaves as a service. That factored into my choice and I remarked to him that he has an advantage over other roofing contractors who are more rigid or limited in their offerings. I was incredibly impressed that David himself went to several lumber yards to find matching trim for my older home ? trim that is no longer commonly found. His trim work blended in imperceptibly, making the home look ?better? than new. His team came and finished the roof in a very short period of time ? I was nervous about having the house?s ?hat? off, but I wanted a total strip, then shingle; so he planned the job accordingly and worked well and fast. From the shingles, to the boards, to the tar paper and nails, everything he used was top-quality, according to my brother, who was a general contractor at one time. He gave a much better guarantee than anyone else had offered. He even turned in my warranty materials for me and brought by my guarantee in person after the job ended so he could check on my satisfaction. I have a second house that needs a roof ?soonest? and he helped me stretch my budget by pushing the re-roofing date off with some minor repairs in the meantime that he refused to charge me for. You can bet he will be the first person I call when the time comes to have another high-quality, beautiful ? and DRY? roof on my other home next door, which must be so jealous of the gorgeous roof on its neighbor! I give David Smith and HomeWrappers my highest recommendation for his attitude, price, and over-and-above ?care more? approach to his business, wide range of services and fantastic quality. I have the prettiest roof on the street and a sense of assurance that will probably outlive me - and that makes me extremely relieved and happy. Thank you, David! ... Now I don't worry about the rain!

The work has not been done yet. We contracted someone else. I would like to be associated with them though. I liked the person who came. I think they probably have a good company. I haven’t seen their work of course. I would surely use their services in the future, if they came in with a better quote than they did this time. There was a reason that we decided to use the other company. We wanted to charge it on our American Express to get frequent flier miles and they were not set up for it at this time although I believe they are adding that in the future. Their quote was fairly consistent with the other quotes we got but a little bit higher than the one we contracted with.
Description of Work: I used the services of Home Wrappers to get an estimate. I was looking to have them do roofing for me.

David was God sent. At the time I was scheduled to have my roof done, my son was in a terrible car accident. We had to rush to Winston-Salem NC to attend our son. David had no ideal what was going on. He came to our house on time as promised. Prior to everything happening, I asked if we had to be home to do the job. Unsupervised David completed the job on time. During the roofing he stayed in contact with us by phone keeping us abreast with the progress. We completely trusted David & Home Wrapper to do a great job. David is more than a businessman. He was very patience & offer our son prayer. This quality in business is very rare. Everything in the contract was fulfilled with extras. The quoted priced was dead on with the expectation of replacing rotted boards. The clean up was spot on as promised. They even trimmed branches of the roof, this was extra. Home Wrapper is worth every penny you send on a job they provide. You won't find service like this anywhere else. Thank you David & Home Wrapper for a job well done. I'm so glad I chose your company. Sorry for the headaches I caused you.

Overall - my experience with Home Wrappers was well worth it. After a week of bad rains, we had some leaks that became evident on the inside of our house. David Smith came by and got on the roof, performed an inspection, corrected obvious problems and let us know that the roof appeared to be damaged and suggested we call our insurance agent. We did call our agent and the adjuster came and evaluated our roof and determined we had a claim. We then got an estimate from Home Wrappers and another competitor - both estimates were similar in scope and price; however, Home Wrappers could get to our roof in a more timely manner. We then worked with David to select the shingles we wanted and based on our selection we set a date for the work and made our down payment. As noted, his crew showed up and did a great job. Once the work was completed David came by and made sure we were completely satisfied with the work. He resolved some minor issues and then David sat down with us and went through the warranty coverage on his work and the roof. Once that was completed we paid Home Wrappers for the balance of the bill - which was exactly what we had agreed to pay.
Description of Work: David Smith of Home Wrappers was very professional and was very well prepared. His estimate was complete, thorough and cost competitive. We had architectural shingles and a new ridge vent put on our roof. The roofing materials he offered were varied and met our needs for type and color. His work and the roofing materials he used carried a warranty that was an extra benefit. His crew showed up on time, completed the work in one day, cleaned up the work site - including the removal of limbs, etc that were removed during the roofing process. Once completed, David came by the house and reviewed the work with us. He addressed a couple of issues that required attention and addressed them in a prompt and professional manner. I would recommend his services to others and would definitely use his services for any future roofing needs.
