Candy is a fantastic realtor. We sold our home in a week, which was astounding to us. But we really needed her expertise in the closing, as it was an older home (built in the 40s). We could have gotten caught up on doing repairs to make it happen, and be put out of alot of $$ to make really unnecessary repairs. She drew on her contacts to make sure we needed to get the fair amount of work done at a great price, and those workers guaranteed their work. So it all got taken care of, primarily because of Candy's experience. We felt like she was protecting us through the whole process. Understandably, we used her again to buy a home. This time we needed help in making sure we were qualified, getting a good mortgage lender, and in price negotiations on the home. Again, she had the right people to use, and she has been great. She listened to what we liked, but made sure we were protected and were getting a quality, good home. She listens to you and watches out for you, navigating you through the whole process, which can be frustrating at times. She's like a great lawyer. I'd definitely recommend her.

Mary Lane was fantastic every step of the way and a real pleasure to work with. She grew up in the area and has tons of really useful knowledge about neighborhoods, specific houses, schools, and the area in general. We had a lot of questions, and when we actually were purchasing the house, we required a lot of interaction to negotiate inspection fixes and other things with the sellers. Mary Lane was extremely responsive and would call, email, or text us back pretty much immediately every time. She was really amazing in that regard and was always patient and professional in answering all of our questions. She also seemed to have an army of contractors, HVAC people, inspectors, electrictians, plumbers, etc who came out at various points who were reasonable and professional. Whenever we had a question or needed someone to check on something, she would give us three or four names of people who were all great. One of the things I particularly liked about Mary Lane was that she offered honest advice and was supportive without pushing for anything. She really helped us with our decision process and gave us great information rather than trying to get us to buy something that wasn't perfect. In addition, we did a fair amount of looking online on real estate sites and Mary Lane always seemed to have house listings faster and/or had additional information before we could find them, which was really helpful. On top of all that, she's also just a really nice person. We're now in a house we absolutely love and I'm very grateful for that. I would highly recommend Mary Lane Sloan to anyone who asks (and I have been recommending her to friends already).

We felt that she was totally fair. She really helped us a lot with our new house. She wasn't a pushy real estate agent. She didn't try to tell us what we liked about different houses. She took us to the houses and was there as a resource if we had questions. We were moving from a different part of the country, so we weren't familiar with real estate norms. She was a great resource for that. She didn't try to get us to take this house or that house. She let us make up our own minds. She also stuck with us for a long time. We changed our housing plan halfway through the search. She was really patient. When we told her we changed what we wanted, she rolled with the punches without making a big fuss over it. It was very nice to not feel like we were awful clients.

We met Kathy b/c we saw a house that we wanted to see. We weren't really ready to buy yet, but the house caught our eye. She was referred to us through a friend, and so she met with us on short notice to take us through this house, which we did not buy. She gave us a lot of good advice about neighborhoods in Columbia, which was helpful since we were new to the area. after no pressure for several months, my husband started finding houses he wanted to see, and Kathy would take him through them. Since our plans changed several times throughout the process, Kathy had to be flexible about the homes she sent us, and also let my husband find a lot of the houses himself, since she probably saw that he was that kind of guy. :c) After seeing several houses that we wanted that went under contract before we could make an offer, Kathy recommended a different neighborhood. The first house we looked at was the one we bought! She helped us negotiate with the seller, insisted on some inspection-related repairs, and was generally a voice of experience and reason in this hectic time. We could not have done it without her!
