I have used the same company for my air conditioning. They come out twice a year and do the servicing and everything. I have been using them since I moved here in 1996. I pay them something every year. If something happens, they would come out few times. They are responsive. I think they do good work. I have been happy with them. I would continue to work with them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of 2nd Wind Heating & Air Conditioning for my air conditioning. They also put some new ductwork under my house a couple of years ago.

Without going into too much detail, we had the entire heating and air unit replaced..Chris Weaver was our tech. and couldn't have asked for a more competant, polite, knowledgeable technician.....They followed up with a 6month service call and without having to contact them they contacted us...Being a woman(writing this review) who is ignorant of these types of thing not able to give proper information as to everything they did...My husband and I, however, are very pleased with every aspect and will most assuredly contact 2 Wind, when the need arises.

They usually do all the maintenance and the motor really took the price up. We joined their membership and the price included $300 for that so they come every 3 months to do maintenance, check the freon, filters and clean out the coils. They showed up right on time when they said they would and they were very professional.
Description of Work: We used 2nd Wind Heating & Air Conditioning as our A/C repair specialists. They replaced a motor, filled all the freon and did all the maintenance.

We got satisfactory service from them. It was a free estimate. We had a lot of one on one technician's attention from them, but they gave us a course of action that didn't turn out to be the best of the three we were looking at. They were very professional and did everything we asked for, but we ended up not selecting them for the service because of other factors. They gave us a really good assessment and estimate. They were thorough and they were timely. When they were in the house, they always put the booties on their shoes. They wouldn't track in dirt. They got down underneath the crawlspace. They looked at the configuration of the ductwork, so they had expertise in what they were doing. They did a good job with what we asked them to do.
Description of Work: 2nd Wind Heating & Air Conditioning did an assessment on our existing air conditioning and on our existing ductwork design in the house. They gave us an estimate to redo both of them in September.

Nick arrived on time after 2d Wind had called to give me an update on his arrival. He listened to the problem and quickly diagnoised and fixed it. He clearly explained the cost prior to the work and was right on target. He cleaned up the area and explained their service program. I signed up for their VIP service and expect to be very happy working with them in the future.
Description of Work: My airconditioning unit quit working. When I went to the unit's web site, they listed 2nd Wind as one of their area businesses. They were prompt, professional and reasonable. Nick Pitillo, the service technician, was easy to work with and explained everything he did. As it turned out the capacitor was bad.

We had an evaluation of the "repair service's" newly-installed system done by two well-known and impartial HVAC service companies and learned just how completely this "repair service" had totally botched our supposedly new system. That's when we called in Second Wind HVAC service. They gave us a clear and understandable report on what was wrong with our system and how it could be corrected. We were very impressed with the technician assigned to us and hired them for the job. Not one but two technicians in two trucks arrived eactly on time and worked efficiently to correct our totally botched job. Eveything they did was professional and "home friendly, even" to the extent of wearing clean overshoes whenever they needed to enter the house.Their education in servicing HVAC units was exceptional. Second Wind even rewards seasoned techs with a good record by placing a giant picture of that tech on the sides of his service vehicle.When the work was complete, they gave us clear instructions on operating our new heat pump, follow-up 24-hour contact numbers. Our system has been humming along perfectly ever since. I recommend Second Wind to anyone who wants to work with motivated, honest professionals who do their work at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: We bought a new home in August 2010 and it came with a contract for HVAC service from a Columbia area "repair service". In December, one of our heat pump units failed. This "repair service" totally botched the installation of a new unit. We endured three months of freezing weather with little or no heat and two months of hot weather with little A/C.

I have used them for several years. I have yearly maintenance agreement with them. They charge me a yearly fee for the maintenance agreement and they come out twice a year. I haven't had any problems or potential staff problems and no one have snagged yet. They said they'd cover all parts and labor for ten years if anything broke. They have a good family reputation too because my family is using them for a while and that's why I'm using them.
Description of Work: 2nd Wind Heating & Air Conditioning came out sometime this year for a regular maintenance.

. They call us ahead of time to remind us that they are due for maintenance. We too can call them ahead of time so that we are here. The workmen are very knowledgeable and polite. What I really like about them is that when they come inside to talk with us they use their disposable cover for their shoes. I appreciate that.We will continue to use them in the future.

At 2nd Wind, we believe in professional service and a job well done. Member actually called for a technician to come out for a problem call on 05/28/07. We responded via Home Buyers/2-10 Warranty. The technician found a leaking indoor coil by which HBW authorized replacing the air handler and the customer accepted a buyout. A buyout is when the customer accepts money from the warranty company to get a replacement of their choice vs the warranty supplied unit. The invoice for this amounted to a diagnostic and leak test by which the customer paid $70. Member then called us again to have a technician come out on a No Charge estimate on 06/19/07. We quoted multiple options and spent proper time with Member. Member obviously decided to replace with another company due to price. We hope that Member will use us again in the future and thank him for the review.

Everything was done very well and very professionally. There was a strange lapse when I tried to rehire them after a lapse of 3 years after the first 3 service calls. Their front desk person indicated they had a penalty for not continuing their annual contract, which would be $370 instead of $312 for 3 maintenance calls. However their representative called back after a week to state that this policy was because some customers were using them for 3 calls, dropping them for 6 months and getting back on for $312 for another new contract. Since mine was after a lapse of 3 years, they apologized for the misinfo. I did rehire them back because they were very good the first time.

They are fantastic and every bit of work they?ve done for me has been perfect. My only problem with them is that they put a new fuse box in where they should have put in a breaker box. They aren?t electricians so I just called in an electrician to do the work. They have not lost their reputation. Several people out here have contracts with them and everyone I?ve talked to have been very pleased. The owner is very particular about who he hires.

I have used 2nd Wind since 1993. They are the best - exceptionally efficient. professional, pleasant and caring - never in all of these years have I had ANY contact or work that wasn't done to the highest standards. I have my units inspected twice a year and, in between, if I ever have a problem, they are at my house. I appreciate the fine professional attitude and quality of work. Thanks for a job well done!
Description of Work: I called because I was having problems with my oldest heat/ac unit. An appointment was set and the service man arrived on time. The condenser was going in the unit and the technician suggested I install a new unit as it would cost X dollars for a new condenser. In addition I would be able to use it as a tax credit this year for energy savers. The new unit was installed promptly and the area was cleaned up neatly. Every effort was made to protect surrounding plants. Following installation a supervisor came to inspect the new unit and to certify the installation.

Making an appointment was easy and I got on the schedule two days after my call (which is good considering the high volume). On the morning they were scheduled I was called and told that they had a large number of calls for non-working units, and asked if my appointment could be moved. Since, I was planning to leave for a vacation I told them I would rather not reschedule. Given that phone call, I was surprised when the technician came exactly on-time. I found the technician friendly and he did find the problem rapidly. As I watched he did explain what he was doing. I had one significant issue with quality/professionalism though. When I called for the service I was told that my filter (outside in the unit would be replaced with each service). I don't change that filter every month, but just in the spring and fall. The first thing that the technician did was ask for the location of the filter. As he was opening the panel for the filter, he asked when the last time the filter was changed and I told him that it was changed last spring. He recommended that it be changed every month. The filter is in a hard location to access, but he had the filter halfway out when I noted that the bottom of the filter had gotten wet. He said that was common after a summer. He then pushed the filter back in and said that it looked fine. This seemed really strange to me. He tells me that I don't change the filter enough, the bottom of the filter looked wet (it was cardboard so I'm concerned with mold and deterioration), and he doesn't change the filter which I was told was part of the servicing. Had the service work not been stopped by discovery of the bad motor, I would have insisted on the filter's replacement.
Description of Work: I was going to sign up for 2nd Wind's service plan. As it turns out, I had a bad combustion blower motor that was found within the first 15 mins. I elected not to go with the $507 repair, because I have a home warranty that will cover the replacement. The servicing will have to wait until the part is replaced. The $99 was to cover a diagnostic fee.

Called dispatcher about an unusual hum in an outside condenser unit they installed 18 month ago. Explained the unit was functional and this was not an urgent issue. She said there may be a diagnostic charge if the problem was not in the unit. Wanted to know how I would pay. I told her I expected it to be a warranty issue, but would pay by credit card if it was something other than the condenser. She said someone was in the area and would stop by in a couple hours. The technician arrived and determined that the condenser unit was working properly, but could not explain the hum. It only made the noise when the condenser unit was running. He gave me a $99.00 bill for diagnostics. I told him it should be a warranty issue and he told me the only time the warranty kicked in is if the unit failed. I explained that I had told the disputer the unit was functional and that she told me nothing about the failure clause in the warranty. I would not have asked them to come otherwise. He consulted the office and they charged me $99.00. I paid them, but will never use them again. The dispatcher should have told me about the failure clause since it was obvious to the technician. I feel misled and taken advantage of, and I suspect if the unit does fail, they will find some reason to charge me for it anyway. I won't use them again and suggest you don't either.

They are very dependable. They are very thorough and they act very professional. They do a good job. We will continue to use them for any future heating and air conditioning needs. The approximate cost listed is for 2 visits during the year, discounts on various parts and some emergency visits.

Everything was fantastic. I set up an appointment for the day after I called. On the day of service they called to see if their tech could come a bit early. That worked perfect for my schedule so he came out. They called again when he was 15 minutes away just to let me know he would arrive soon. The technician they sent was Rich. When he got here he was very professional. He was willing to explain everything he was doing and why he did it. He showed me all around the attic. He was very courteous of my carpet as well. When I had work done by a previous A/C company they tracked dirt in all over my carpet and left a huge mess and stains. Rich was very careful about covering his shoes each time he came in the house from outside. Little details like that make this a great company. I will use them from now on, and I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I signed up for their maintenance contract which included cleaning and checking the outside A/C unit, checking the motor, thermostat, refrigerant level, checking and clearing drain lines, checking the electrical system, and other things. It was too much to mention it all. They also replaced my trap and put in a floating cutoff valve for the overflow pan which he recommended while he was here. He was more than happy to show me what he was talking about and why he recommended it. The way the trap was positioned before there was no good way to clean it and it hung out over the plywood, allowing it to drip onto the plywood and then onto the ceiling. He installed a new trap and moved it so it was over the drip pan. He also installed a floating cutoff switch in case the drip pan filled up because it was not rigged to drain properly from when the house was built.

I started with Angie's List, looking for a company that came with high recommendations and was able to get a service call scheduled for the next morning. The technician was honest about the part being under warranty and worked to be sure the replacement part was available and could be installed quickly. While I likely could have found someone to do the work for less money, I value openness and honesty and am willing to pay for good service. I was pleased enough with the service to contract them to do regular cleaning and servicing of both HVAC units. Another big plus is that the company calls to let you know when the technician is on his way and they actually do stick to a two hour window - if the visit will fall into the second hour, they call to let you know so you aren't trapped waiting for someone to show up.
Description of Work: 2nd floor HVAC unit wasn't working so the technician had to diagnose the problem, which required going over the system twice to locate the small leak of refrigerant. Refrigerant was recharged and a 2nd visit scheduled two days later to replace the still under manufacturer's warranty heating coil.

Excellent! Very honest and took great care to not only explain problems but, also show on different meters and visually. Prompt, polite, follow through on promises. The whole experience was very professional. My air conditioners have worked great and under much stress as we have had twelve day of over 100. I was prepared to replace the gas pack and the technician explained that would not be necessary as we would get a minimum of five to six more years out of the unit. This saved me over 3000.00 and the company sells units so I was very impressed! I was also impressed that they were so good about scheduling the work around my schedule.
Description of Work: I had downstairs gas pack air conditioning unit checked as it would not cool. Technician checked and found leaks in the evaporator coil. He showed me and explained the entire process. A previous technician from another company had said I would have to replace the whole unit. The technician ordered new coil and replaced the coil refilled with refrigerant, cleaned and serviced both of my units I also have a heat pump. He found the duel capacitor on heat pump was bad and replaced it. He recharged that system.
