Thomas S. detailed the issues, provided options and installed the option we selected with Art G. The service was professional, detailed (really) and a good process. I was given updates on what was happening and the time involved; take a while to finish when you have to recharge the whole system, and that was a great touch. We have been with 2d Wind (Cloud 10 membership) here for 3 years and our other home for over 10 years. I take great comfort knowing I can call and receive exceptional service when I need it. Great company, excellent service and part of the community.

Was quoted on phone prior to visit for diagnostic time. Technician charged me the diagnostic rate for the entire duration of his visit PLUS the labor for the job he did. The functions he performed were for labor only as no parts were necessary. My bill for his 2 hour visit to screw down a loose wire, clean an orifice in the unit, and check freon levels was $505, $250 per hour. After paying the bill, I called and spoke to the technician's supervisor. He said he was going to look at the tech's paperwork the next day and let me know what he found. Had to leave him two further messages over a day or two to get a return call. He left me a message letting me know I was overcharged $119 and a check would be sent "within a few days". I waited 10 days, no check. Left three messages requesting a return call, no response. Called main office number this morning and was told "they are doing year end inventory and that might explain my calls being not returned". Was told that a certified check was sent on 12/27. It is Jan 3 and no check (we live within 20 minutes of their shop). Not sure I believe that check has actually been sent. Was advised to give the mail a couple more days... The upstairs unit is still operating the same, no warm air, out $505, and waiting for a check they say is on the way. And if they do year end inventory and should need to be non-responsive, they could at least mention that in their voicemail greeting message. Will not use these guys again.

I would summarize my experience with this company as following a downward spiral/trajectory. I signed up to have a service agreement with them so that they came out a few times a year to check my unit and service as needed. After being satisfied with their work for a few years, I eventually added a rental home to the service agreement. Initially, I was quite pleased. They consistently sent reminder emails or calls to help me keep up with when it was time for my home to be serviced. They always informed me of recommendations and would tell me of repairs that were needed immediately and of those that could wait but that might be needed in the future. The two negative experiences I had were: a) When my rental home needed to be serviced, they apparently had trouble contacting the tenant who lived there at the time. Since the home is rented through a management company, I had no knowledge that they were having trouble reaching the tenant. I felt they should have contacted me after not being able to reach the tenant, but they did not. As a result, the appointment for them to service the AC unit was finally scheduled much later than it was supposed to be completed. ln the time that the service appointment was pending, a problem developed in the attic of the home where the AC unit was located. Ultimately, I ended up spending a lot of money for repairs that likely would have been identified much sooner if I had been notified that they were having trouble setting up the appointment to get into the home for maintenance. No, I don't blame them for the problems that ultimately cost me a lot of money, but I do think they should have informed me that they were having trouble gaining access. I could have set up the appointment to meet them to let them in the home myself and possibly prevented the costly repair. b) On another visit, the service technician removed a brand new air filter that I had inserted. I typically buy the more expensive filters that last several months. He replaced it with one of the standard filters that is less expensive. Then, I saw him put the new filter on the vehicle that he was driving instead of discarding it in my outdoor trash bin. Since most of their service technicians throw the filters away immediately, I assume he was going to use it for his personal benefit. I could have informed him that I saw him, but I am not a person who likes to be in situations of conflict or disagreement. I just decided that rather than create a potential uncomfortable situation, I would let things be, but I decided not to renew my service agreement. There are too many good companies out there that do the right thing to tolerate such inappropriate actions. In summary, I had mostly positive experiences over multiple years. However, I ultimately decided to take my business elsewhere. You can be the judge.
Description of Work: I used this company for several years for routine maintenance and as-needed repairs for my primary residence and for a rental home.

Not only was 2nd Wind's quote lower than other companies, but they also included a year of maintenance with the price. I was able to get a programmable thermostat and a $500 visa card for installing a new unit (this was a limited promotion, not sure how often this happens) included in that price. They also had a lot of great financing options so I didn't have to pay for everything at once. I will mention that there was a little damage done to the plaster on my wall when they removed the electrical panel to replace a breaker. When I mentioned it to the technician, there was zero argument about it. They sent Ricky Carraway (Residential Finishes) to patch and repaint everything at no charge. I don't see him listed on here, but he did a stellar job and I am planning to use him for other painting projects in my house. So, if I could give 2nd Wind an A+, I would. Their top notch service has earned them a customer for life!
Description of Work: I had my HVAC serviced for a noise and found out that there was a huge crack in my heat exchanger on the heat side and the fan was failing on the A/C side. The repair was going to be very expensive, so I opted to replace the entire 2-ton unit because it was 14 years old.

I called 2nd wind for an inspection of my ductwork because my home was feeling moist after the heavy rain in early october. I was reassured the ductork had "no issues" ( I have this in writing). A month later, the problem has gotten worse and I have thousands of dollars of interior damage due to the moisture. I got a second opinion and a huge portion of my ductwork had come unattached and I had been pulling wet/fungi crawlspace air into my home for over a month becuse of 2nd Wind's poor/false inspection. When contacted to see if they would work with me Mickey Lauder said no. When I did let him know I would be contacting BBB and Angieslist, he threatened to sue me for slander. In summary, not a company I would trust with my home or around my family.
Description of Work: Inspected ductwork becuase interior air was feeling wet. They found "no issues" when in fact there were huge issues which have now caused thousands in subsequent damage because of their reassurances and the delay in repair.

Excellent customer service. Prompt response time and no nonsense down to business attitude so as to finish the work quickly, thoroughly and professionally. They won me over and hope to have a long relationship for my HVAC needs in the future.
Description of Work: A/C went out in the middle of the night. Called this companies and another companies answering services as it was gonna be another scorcher with 100 degree temps. 2nd wind was able to come out between 10a-noon. Technician called at 10:15 and arrived on time at around 10:40. He promptly found the issue, fixed it and and did a full system check to let us know how the entire system was working and what to look out for in the future. Highly impressed.

I have had excellent experience with a heating and air conditioner provider. The name of the service provider is 2nd Wind Heating & Air. They cleaned up after themselves. 3 people came out to work. They were very informative. The heating and cooling has been great since they did the services. They are a little more expensive than most of them but they explained why and I was happy with it.
Description of Work: They came out on March 7th of this year for the services. They provided a new duct work, new heat transfer unit and new air conditioner. They hauled away the old.

We did not use this company, and never will. We used another company. They did great work in just a day, and asap. No problems with them at all. Great folks. 15 years ago, we had a realtor suggest 2nd Wind to do work, minor things, to prepare a house to sell. Same thing. Yuck!
Description of Work: Came out and gave an estimate to replace broken hvac. Price quoted was $10,000 for 2700 square foot house! WE were told that we'd need to purchase many additional items "so that we would be comfortable." Not true. Really felt like person was trying to sell us things we didn't need. Actually, that was true.

I paid for a maintenance agreement in Dec that was supposed to include three maintenance visits per year. The technician said they would call me in June to schedule my next visit. I never heard from them all summer. When I finally called in Oct. to ask about my maintenance, the secretary said, "We got busy this summer and got behind on fulfilling their maintenance agreements." So in other words, they put the people who already paid for their service behind new contracts. That's why I paid for a maintenance agreement, so that I would have my service regardless of their "busy season." When I inquired how they intended to provide me with two more visits this year when there are only three months left in the year. The secretary said they would just "double up" and do another service in Dec. Wait, how is it helpful for me to get no service all year and then two visits in three months. That's ridiculous. Honestly, I believe I would have never heard from them again had I not called to inquire about my service. I no longer trust this company.

I have used 2nd Wind for several years now and have always been pleased with their professional work. When they come to service our system they remove the panels and clean all the coils and internal area that can be cleaned without damaging any components. They check and clean the drian pipe to make sure it is draining properly and the fan chamber as well. When they finish their cleaning, they seal the panels as they are reinstalled. I couldn't ask for a better maintenance service conmany.
Description of Work: Twice each year, they come out and completely clean our air conditioner. When they get through with it, it almost looks new again it's so clean.

I'd called 2nd Wind when I found the house had sold and we were moving to close in 30 days. I'd asked that they inspect, and perform the regular contract service and at the same time, provide the HVAC letter. The cautioned me to wait on the HVAC letter until the closing date was set since the HVAC would only be good for 30 days. They agreed to perform the service and do a cursory inspection and let me know if there were any deficiencies that would need to be taken care of before the HVAC letter could be issued. The technician who came out was Carroll. He's an outstanding representative for 2nd Wind and he's maintained this house and my main home for years. He did everything and said there were no issues. I called back two weeks later when the closing date was set. I asked that Carroll come back out to complete the inspection and to issue the letter. I was told at that time Carroll was on vacation and they'd send another technician. I was agreeable since I'd been told there were no problems (the unit is less than 2 years old). The "other" technician arrived and proceeded to tell me that I "serious code violations" that would have to be dealt with before he could issue the letter. I was floored and the buyers were standing next to me when he made that statement. He proceeded to detail the issues -- breaker was too big, there was not a disconnect within 5 ft. of the compressor and of the air handler, no light or receptacle -- the list went on an on. I asked, "these are code violations?" The total estimate to make the code corrections was more than $1,100.00 -- I was floored and completely blind-sided. To be short, I refused to pay and quite honestly, I'd made up my mind I was through with 2nd Wind. The next day I called another HVAC provider who came out and performed the exact same inspections and happily issued the HVAC letter required for my closing but I still had the impression left with the prospective buyers to deal with. I took up my issue with 2nd Wind the following week laid out why I was terminating our relationship. To my surprise, 2nd Wind management apologized to me for how things were handled and for the way the technician handled the entire matter. In short, they had the technician who wrote up everything come back out and make all the changes he'd suggested and all at no cost to me. I only paid for a second HVAC letter that went to satisfying the prospective buyers. It was a frustrating issue but in the end, 2nd Wind owned the problem proved to me that they value my business and their reputation.
Description of Work: I've been doing business now with 2nd Wind for almost 10 yrs. This particular service was to inspect and provide a HVAC letter for a closing on one of the houses I owned. This followed approximately 2 weeks after the regular service.
