Smoak's Comfort Control

I didn't feel that they did a good job, basically a check up of my commode it seems to be running a lot so I didn't think they did a good job. It must be a tune up, it's been running ever since, he just said it looks good and needs a couple of thing to it but it's just running.

Very quick response to appointment request. Work was performed satisfactorily and plumber was very nice and professional.

The technician was extremely thorough, took pictures of the unit in the attic and explained what he thought was wrong. However, his solution was going to cost $2500. He said I had a leak in the coils due to rusty/oily water in the drip pan and that I needed a complete replacement of the coils. Since I was low on freon, he put some in there and the unit began cooling much better. He said he did not feel it up. I was told my unit only holds 6-7# of freon and that there was no way for him to know how low it was. After getting this inspection I had American Home Shield contractor come and look at my unit. The only thing he did was put "Fix-a-Leak" stuff in the A/C system and add freon. So in the end, not sure if Smoak's was trying to sell me on the worst case scenario so I pay $$ for a coil replacement or a whole new A/C or if they are indeed correct. Smoak's was very courteous, thorough, and helpful.

I always like multiple estimates whenever I need something major done. Joining Angie's List has been a huge help in that regard. I had bought a year service contract with another heating and air company. In their routine check they determined that the coil on one of my three air conditioners was leaking freon. They said the coil was a couple of months out of warranty (they said a five year warranty) and so replacing the whole unit was recommended since the coil would cost almost half as much as a whole new unit. So I called two other companies. The second one recommended I replace the bottom unit and while I was at it, all the units since I could improve my efficiency. Smoak was the third estimate and their rep Jay took one look and said " this ought to be a 10 year warranty and should be covered". He called the manufacturer rep and found to my surprise that the coil was still under warranty. So instead of thousands spent to replace the whole unit, I spent $610. Whether the other two companies were dishonest or simply incompetent, I don't know. What I know is that Smoak and Jay saved me thousands. They are my go to from now on.

Larry Davis arrived on schedule and completed the 20 point A/C inspection and tune-up. His written report regarding the condition of our older unit was thorough and our follow-up discussion regarding options for eventual replacement when necessary were very helpful for what I hope is "long range planning" :) . I was very impressed with the speed in which the appointment could be scheduled and in the professionalism of the scheduling department and the technician.

Estimating process was much more thorough than other companies. Rather than simply replacing a 2.5 ton unit with another 2.5 ton unit, Smoak's performed some calculations and suggested a smaller unit, saving us a considerable amount of money. Bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to HVAC units. The installation crew showed up on time and worked their tails off in a sweltering attic. They were amazingly tidy, leaving no trace. New system works like a champ. Much quieter than our last system. Nice not to have the picture frames rattling all night long. No hesitation recommending Smoak's to others.

I have used Smoak's Comfort Control before and they're easy to work with. Everything went fine on the service they provided me. Overall they provided me a good service.

The upstairs a/c unit wasn't blowing cold air so I called Smoak Comfort Control after getting their name from Angie's list. They were very responsive and had someone out that afternoon. A part needed to be replaced that the service fellow didn't have on his truck so he had to come back the next day. He was back first thing the next morning! He also told me about their Maintenance program -- something I'd been wanting to sign up for with a heating and a/c company. So I signed up and now am considered a Premier client so will get priority service in the future. Which is pretty cool, since I felt I got priority service on this call. I think that preventive maintenance goes a long way in saving money on heating and a/c problems so getting priority service on top of that is a bonus.

I contacted them through the angies last Web page and quickly received a response. We scheduled an appointment for the estimate and they arrived on time. Based on what I had read I thought the estimate was a little high, but so far they are the only person to say they would even consider the job of venting my range hood.

The project was begun in March, 2013. I believed that the structure would need to have all of the interior water lines replaced. In addition, this 3 apartment (4500 square foot) unit was to be a gut renovation, (6 bathrooms) and I needed a plumber that was reasonable, honest, and would work with me and my budget through the renovation of the building. Al has proved to be the best plumber I have used over the past 10 years in 3 cities. He is honest, punctual, gives me detailed invoices for each piece of the project, and itemizes every item so that I can accurately track the expenses for accounting, tax and future investment purposes. I am alerted to problems before they occur, and Al discusses with me his concerns over design issues that may impact code before any work is performed. With this project, we have run into several obstacles, and Al has pitched in to be a member of the team. The office scheduling is efficient, professional, and quickly helped me develop a system for scheduling any plumbing needs so that the project ran smoothly. I will use Al and Smoak's continually for future projects, and have already made the decision to use him immediately on the next two projects that will occur later this year.

The minute the doorbell rang at precisely 8:00, the time of our appt, I knew service technician Mark was a professional. I purchased through Angie's List the Tune-Up special and I really got my money's worth! He spent so much time, in my crawl space, in my attic, inside/outside.... I know he inspected every component of both of my a/c units. With a freon charge, which was extra, I was good to go. He made 1 recommendation of a potential drainage problem in the crawl space which no one else had ever mentioned. I am so happy I found this company on Angie's List. I resounding YES to Smoak's and we will definitely use them again.

The service provider explained the need for a new hose and he showed me where the corrosion and blockage was occurring.

See above, spent $840. .00 total after the recommended Plummer couldn't complete job. The toilet was plugged within 24 hours.

Outstanding service. Much better than other providers in the past. Signed up for annual contract.

Perfect - couldn't ask for more for $25!

It was a professional experience.

Be weary of their so-called "tune up." I just wanted my coils cleaned. It's no tune up at all. For $70, they merely come out and assess what needs to be done and then gives you the price. When I told the technician to stop the "tune up" and put that price toward cleaning my AC coils instead, he called his boss at headquarters. The boss didn't know he was on speaker phone and said to do it, "just to get this guy off my back." VERY unprofessional. Bait-and-switch tactic used at this business. My $70 deal turned out to be $250 when all was said and done.

Repair failed and had to shut down the toilet and re-arrange my wife's schedule to get them back. Hopefully they fixed it this time, but over the coarse of time I am sure, as I have done in the past, I will have to redo the repair.

The plumber was ON TIME, figured out what was wrong immediately, he also checked the other toilet (which had the same problem), went out and bought necessary pieces for both toilets, and no problems ever since!

Performed diagnostic on plumbing, tuned up both toilets. Had to call back to have water pressure loss looked at... response was timely and professional and pressure loss was repaired. Really happy with overall experience.... will definately use again.

Was on time did work and left everything clean

My experience was outstanding. They didn't beat around the bush as far as price. They are very reputable. They showed up on time for the appointment and did everything very carefully. I liked that they wore booties when entering the home.

Smoak's Comfort Control fixed all the different problems and the workers were very nice. Their price, quality, and responsiveness to my needs and concerns were excellent.

This was the third time we've hired Smoak's to fix an issue in our very old, new-to-us house. Our water shut-off valve to the house completely broke off, and a plumber came out and replaced it. My husband called them to get an estimate on the cost, and the plumber was able to come by and give us one, and could fix it on the spot if we wanted (which we did). He was there a couple of hours, so the cost was very reasonable. He remembered our house from previous visits. The first time they came to our house was before we had moved in, and they replaced our ancient hot water heater with a tankless model. We got an estimate well in advance of having the services performed, as the hot-water heater was part of our buying agreement for the house. The second time they came out was for an emergency call about a month later -- water started leaking out of the kitchen wall that is shared with the room where the washer/dryer hookups are. They were quick to come out and fix that problem as well (the kitchen plumbing was extremely clogged). The plumber gave us tips on how to prevent that from happening again. It was definitely a pricier visit (can't remember how much exactly), but understandable for an emergency call.
