They called to arrange a time--showed up promptly. explained what they would do, accomplished everything they promised and gave me a full verbal report of what they found and what was recommended. Very professional and punctual.

They were amazing. They arrived when they said they would, did the entire job in one day, the gentlemen that did the install were extremely nice and very efficient. They had to customize a hood for the blower unit and lift the entire unit over a spiral staircase, no easy feat. The arrived when they said they would, did a fantastic job and cleaned up after. No complaints! They were awesome!

The technician was very thorough, polite and professional. As good an evaluation of my HVAC systems as I have had in the 8 years I have lived in my house. I have an upstairs and downstairs HVAC system and both were evaluated, including photographs and recommendations for the condition and any improvements were offered. I have already recommended them to a friend and would recommend them to anyone who needs HVAC service in the Mt. Pleasant area.

The technician diagnosed the reason our electric bill had been higher this year than last, and he recommended repairing a small leak and adding a shot of refrigerant. My husband was able to perform the repairs himself, and the next electric bill was $100 less.

They were prompt, professional and seemed to know all about my particular system. Everything went like clockwork.

The first day consisted of removing the old ductwork in the attic. The crew swept the stairs and hallway carefully where bits of insulation had fallen as they removed old duct work. The crew provided a temporary window air conditioner at the end of the first day so that upstairs bedrooms were comfortable after the upstairs HVAC was taken off-line. The second and third half-days consisted of installation of new duct work. The gentlemen were quiet and courteous in their work. The last half-day was spent in replacement of the electric motor in the ceiling fan and testing out the HVAC and ceiling fan for some time before leaving the site. The crew also cleaned up all debris in the attic from the new installation. Jay Browder came and inspected the work of the crew after the installation was complete. He was thorough and gracious. I highly recommend this service provider.

Superb service from a highly professional company. The technicians who came out (two different events) were the most knowledgeable and professional people I've encountered from a heating and air company.

I received a call to let me know the technician was on his way prior to his arrival. The technician (Bruce) was prompt and courteous. He already had his booties on his feet and tools in hand when he rang my doorbell. He performed the toilet tune up and replaced the ball c*** with a fluid master. He checked for leaks and adjusted the water level. He was tidy and prompt. I think I will get a tune up for all of our toilets! I would definitely recommend their service.

Al showed up on time and proceeded through work in timely manner. Provided thorough review and analysis of items requested and proceeded immediately with desired corrections. No "selling" effort, but did provide good information for consideration of future modifications.

I had purchased Angie's Big Deal $25 for a toilet tune-up. I was going to have company coming and the toilet in the guest bathroom was leaking water, but not running constantly. I called Smoak's to schedule an appointment and they were able to get me on their schedule quickly. When the plumber showed up to do the tune-up, he was actually early, but waited until the time of the appointment to come to the door, so he would not inconvenience me. Once he looked at the toilet, he was able to quickly figure out the problem and get it fixed. I would definitely use this company in the future.

The technician that came out was very thorough, however, he was supposed to do a "tune-up" and actually spent many hours at my home tweaking and modifying my system. I was very impressed at his attention to detail, but the next day I had water leaking all through my ceiling because he had altered how the condensation drained out of the unit. Apparently water does not flow uphill, and will cause the unit to leak water out of every crack and crevasse when it drowns in its own water. My emergency drip pan filled up an leaked all into my ceiling below. I called the owner and he was awesome, he came right away to look at the problem, and had a painter come over and repair my ceiling. His professionalism and integrity to own up to the root cause of the leak was refreshing. Most companies these days will deny all wrong-doing and tell you to take a hike. I recommend this company completely.

Called this company because we have had an ongoing issue with our AC freezing up and hired another company that charged us $600 to perform 'fixes' and never really fixed the issue. Our AC would freeze and then we couldn't use it. Smoakes came out and performed a thorough check of our entire system, even letting us know that the prior company had put 'too much' freon in our system and our system now ran inefficiently. The prior company had charged us to put the freon in, thinking the reason our system was freezing was due to a leak. Incidentally, they said the freon should now be 'removed' which you can imagine how I felt about the initial company since we paid to put it in, and now we would need to pay to have it removed. Smoakes disconnected and reconnected our thermostat and that seemed to resolve the issue. Mind you, the prior company had come out 4+ times and had never done this, thinking they needed to replace this or that, add that, etc. I am extremely pleased with this company and I also appreciated the Smoakes rep explaining everything to me as I was at the point where I was very frustrated with the situation and thought we might have to replace the entire system. I should've called Smoakes to begin with. I am only going with Angie's list now for companies. No more personal recommendations from friends on companies to use. Angie's list has provided us with the best providers and this is one of them.

Excellent family owned company to do business with. Many of their worker have been with them for years. No up-sells just honest answers.

Tech came out and did the maintenance job, cleaned the coils, AND fixed something that I had done incorrectly when I tried to work on the AC myself. Great Job. Great Price. My AC worked better than ever after the service.

Replacing fixtures in bathroom and needed to know how to stop the water so that I could replace the fixture as one of the turn off valves was stripped. Great information and I was able to complete the project.

Arrived on time, were very careful to minimize dirt, worked quickly and effectively, were courteous and friendly, and cleaned up completely when finished. I had previously had plumbing work done by this co. and was also very satisfied with that. The cost of their work seems to be on the lower side of the area average.

Before I could call on Monday, I received a calll from Smoak's, telling me that when they reviewed the weekend calls and heard that I had a service agreement, they checked their records and found they had not performed a spring check up on my system so they were refunding the entire service call of $397.00! The also set up the bi-yearly check up. I received the refund check in the mail the next week. I was very suprised and impressed with the honesty and intregrity of this company. I don't know of many companies that would refund $400.00

It started out good, the office personnel was pleasant. They even came out the same day.Get all costs UP FRONT. Do not use these guys if you already know where the problem lies.You will get charged a 116 diagnostic fee for them to come out and basically give you a quote.But, then if you don't use them for the work, you still have to pay the 116 diagnostic fee, even though you know the exact problem.Then you're stuck to use them at whatever price they tell you, because you will lose your 116 if you don'tDo yourself a favor, and take another minute to seek a different company's free quote.
