The service man explained in detail how our system worked and why it was important for the UV Light to work properly. As the new homeowner, I appreciated this thorough inspection and explanation of our heating and A/C system.

We purchased a basic Heating Inspection, Tune-Up and Cleaning. The technician was prompt, knowledgeable and seemed to be thorough. They didn't perform any major service - as none was required. But, they did provide peace of mind by letting us know that everything was in good working order as well as pointing out potential improvements - without really doing a hard sell.

Smoak's Comfort Control did a great job, with courteous and helpful assistance when I made the appointment, and with the services performed. The service technician was prompt, was thorough in his inspection and cleaning, and went the extra mile to answer my questions about another problem I had experienced last winter with the heat pump. My overall experience with Smoak's was an A+ and I plan to use them again. I highly recommend this firm to others.

The Service Technician was thorough, knowledgeable, and professional. He explained that our HVAC was aging but that it did not have any immediate need for service. He answered all of our questions and did not try to up sell any service or product. He stated that he wanted to make sure that our system was in good shape relative to its age and he would hope that we would call Smoaks for all our future HVAC needs.

We had one toilet that kept having water in the floor around it and we had one that was running all the time. They came out the day we called them and replaced an O ring under the toilet that was leaking and they had to build it up some so it drained properly. They replaced the parts in the tank for the one running. The next day we realized both were still doing the same thing they had been. They came back out that day and replaced both items again, We have had no problems since. They were very prompt, courteous, and professional. They did not charge us the second time they had to come out.

I originally bought 2 toilet tune-ups and had some other work I needed done. The kitchen faucet that the technician installed never worked for us (my brother turned it on and it wouldn't turn off - the handle was failing to secure to the valve that turned on and off the water). The next technician came and found a broken piece in the faucet assembly. I called the manufacture and they sent out a new assembly. When I called them to let them know the part had arrived (which was slightly different than the original), they wanted to charge me to come out and install it saying that it was the faucet and not their technician. I felt that after paying them their very pricey $130 for the faucet installation, they could at least stand by their work since the faucet never worked for us, but they wouldn't. I did not have them come back out, I instead installed it myself. After finally getting it to simply work, I noticed the water pressure was too low to keep the sprayer engaged even after fully opening the shutoff valve. I didn't bother calling them back since they didn't stand behind the thing not working. I then had the plumber I normally use install the other two faucets I needed replaced for $75 a piece (and they are working perfectly). Another thing that disappointed me (to say the least) was that the technician suggested that I replace one of the toilets that I intended to have tuned up, so I immediately went to Lowes and bought a new toilet to be replaced since his repair bill exceeded the value of the current one. Since it was already afternoon, he didn't have time to replace it. That was fine - it ended up costing me much less to have my original plumber do it. But he still did the toilet tune-up that I bought through Angie's list with the new toilet sitting right next to it. I assumed that was implied when I brought back the new toilet, but that's what I get for assuming... On the bright side, the company was very professional and seemed well organized, which was reflected in their prices. They were very upbeat when I first spoke with them, but their disposition soured a bit towards the end I regret to say.

Professional tech installed UV light system for AC/heater. Very fast and system works fine. Good price for the "big deal" on the system: $299 for entire setup/parts.

I purchased the Big Deal on Angie's list for an inspection and cleaning. Smoak's contacted me shortly after to set up the inspection. Everyone was polite and professional. The technician was knowledgeable and explained in detail the condition of my furnace and how it works. I called them again for some extensive plumbing work, and so far the experience has been consistently pleasant.

We did not consummate the job. The provider had difficulty to schedule the job due to illness of one of its plumbers.

Overall the experience was exceedingly positive.

The scheduler at Smoak's was very polite and accommodating, and the technician showed up on time, put paper booties over his shoes to avoid soiling our floors, did the installation and cleaned up after himself. When he was finished, he was professional and courteous.

I was very impressed with their recommendations, price and no pressure tactics. I had a previous experience with another company with which I had a maintenance contract who kept telling me my unit needed replaced immediately and over a year later it is still running. When I have it replaced I will use Smoak's.

fixed both toilets in my home. did a stellar job..cleaned up. and i'm having him back to replace my kitchen sink and faucet and a bathroom sink and faucet.

I used the coupon for $25 toilet tuneup and said to him that the toilet had been leaking on and off. I know he tried to fix the toilet by replacing a couple parts in the tank and said that we had a couple of cracks in the line. He told me that the parts he put in had stopped the leaking but he couldn't say for how long, could be a month or a year. I was very unhappy after he left when I went in the bathroom and it was constantly running. Before it was sometimes but when he left, there was no stopping it. Second reason I was disappointed is although it wasn't an outragious cost, he did charge me for the parts without asking first if I wanted him to replace them, one part we had already replaced recently. On top of all this, I learned later that with the coupon, other people had their other bathrooms in the house included in the tune-up. I may be over-reacting, but being a woman and not knowing any better, I just feel like I was taking advantage of.

Could not get the garbage disposal to work, it was stuck. Call SMOAK they came out unstuck the garbage disposal.

Smoak personnel were very professional as they fleeced us out of our money. The salesman came out and told us it would be over $7,000 to replace the unit. The $440 we had already spent would not be credited to the sale. I knew from experience this was an outrageous price and we eventually bought from another Angieslist AC provider. Total cost under $2,000. In purchasing AC I have found a lot of very high markups from disreputable providers. My advice is to shop around. It is very difficult to get price information online but it is there if you look hard enough. That will give you a general idea of the cost of the hardware. Most AC pumps were guaranteed by the manufacturer for 20 years - lately they have dropped it down to 10. The new non CFC refrigerant is a lot cheaper, also. Take the total hardware cost and subtract from the quote you get. That should give you an idea of the installation cost. In Smoak's case the analysis was the hardware - heat exchange unit (outside) and fan coil (inside) were about $1500. That left installation costs of $5,500 - a lot to pay for what turned out to be less than one day's labor for one guy. Keeping in mind the $1500 is retail price so there is already a profit built into that. You can see why it is difficult to get A/C unit pricing online. In all fairness to Smoak, their quote included some new ducting which it turns out we did not actually need so I am not sure what cost that may have added to their quote.

Had the company perform a check-up on our HVAC system. Checked system and found a fault with one of the outlets not pumping into one of the vents in the upstairs bedroom. Quickly fixes the problem and cost was reasonable.
