How'd it go?! Excellent!! I needed my chimney cap replaced in early June this year. It was close to an emergency with regards to my roof; waiting for a while to fix it, taking into account the major rains we had this summer, would have resulted in major water damage inside my house. I called several roofing companies (some with recommendations by my HOA because I called my HOA first about this to see who they recommended). I didn't get a very good response from any of the other companies as this time of year is a busy one. Then I went to to Angie's List and thank God I did. I read the reviews on several companies and decided to call Donnie Long. Donnie answered my call. He and his crew were waiting for the rain to clear so they could finish the job they were on. It was really great that I spoke with him immediately. Donnie called me the next morning around 7AM because he was thinking of what I told him and that our weather here wasn't looking good...rain, rain, and more heavy rain. He came over that morning (June 5th) and was up and down my roof several times. Then he did a temporary fix (because I asked and needed it) until the new chimney cap could be made by a company on John's Island. He was here that morning about 2.5 hours and his temporary fix would have lasted months!! It was only a few days later (June 11th) when the new chimney cap was ready and he replaced my old, deteriorated chimney cap with the new one. He did this in the blazing hot sun and was on my roof for 5+ hours that day. My neighbor saw him and needed the same thing fixed. Donnie fixed their chimney cap, too, within the next day or two. We are very pleased and, boy, did I learn about chimney caps and the right and wrong way they are done!! I've got pictures of my old one...can't believe the builder would have installed something that was such poor quality and not done the dimensions that were correct. Here's the most important stuff you should know...Donnie Long is one of the most honest men I have met with regard to home repairs, in this case, specifically roofing. He doesn't tell you lines of BS. He thoroughly looks at everything and tells you how it is, but doesn't pressure you to use him...he encouraged me to get other estimates, to talk with other companies. He is very hard working (I am a witness), reasonable in price, passionate about his work in roofing and an expert in roofing (again I am a witness to this). I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. I don't doubt his work at all and I know his work is the best quality in this area. If you talk with him when/if you have roof problems, you will know, too, what I mean. Remember, I talked to other companies and had another come out for a free estimate (who I called based on my HOA and before I found Donnie Long on Angie's List). I was curious and thought might as well have them come check it out, too, because roof issues can become very serious and my chimney cap problem was very serious. In my opinion, the other companies had general knowledge, but were quick in talking with me (wouldn't listen 100%), didn't thoroughly check out the problems (didn't even go on my roof, they only went into my attic), dismissed my concerns about the sun beams coming through my attic in certain places, and dismissed my ridge vent concerns (not an immediate problem but something of concern). One of the roof guys from an area company who came out generally didn't sound like he had the long time experience but was backed by a large roofing company. I didn't trust them doing the job right. That was my gut feeling and I stand by it. I know from my experience that Donnie Long knows roofing work more than any other (at least in this area!) and is superior than any other area company in doing the job right. Just want to give a real, honest review because it's not often that I've found excellent service, price, and quality in anything related to house repairs. I am having Donnie Long replace my entire ridge vent across the roof of my house in the next week and there is no one I would trust more to do it right. ***All of what I have said is solely my opinion based on my experiences***

Donnie Long and his crew did an excellent job. In every respect, their performance was top-notch! Quality work done in very good time for a reasonable and fair price. Donnie Long was the first contractor to give an estimate; I had several estimates done after, but his professionalism and overall visit impressed me most. Honest, hard working, quality work - highly recommended!!

My overall experience with Donnie and his work was rated excellent!!! I would recommend him and use him again.

During the current rain event, water was dripping from the ceiling in our breakfast area. We called another company and Donnie for an estimate. Both promptly responded, inspected / diagnosed the problem. Donnie's estimate was the best. While performing the repair, he found another potential issue with the flashing under windows and repaired those as well. The total cost was $150 less than the other estimate. Working with Donnie was one of the most pleasant experience I have experience with any service provider. His professionalism, work quality and ethic, cleanup and value is outstanding. Donnie is now in my phone directory for any roof related issue I may have and for recommendation to my friends and neighbors who may have a similar problem.

Donnie fixed a leak in our roof. He did an excellent job and completed it in one day. We had quotes from other companies and his quote came in less and did a more complete repair than our other quotes. He replaced rotten plywood, then felt and shingles. He also adjusted/fixed our gutters, which was causing the problem in the first place. Everything looks great and no leaks anymore! We will definitely use Donnie again for our other outside needs in the future!

He was wonderful. He did a very comprehensive job. The gutters were good so he put some things on to help the gutters catch more debris. He did everything that he needed to for the roof and then reattached the gutter system and made sure that they were secure. He came in half the price of other quotes. He did the job himself. I cannot say enough about him and his company. I think his attention to detail and his availability. He was very available to answer questions. He does a lot of the jobs himself with one other person. He is a small company, but you are going to get his direct attention. He does a very good job from start to finish. He is very prompt; when he says 8am, he will be there. He is very punctual, dependable and reliable. He is very fair with his pricing. I would highly recommend him, because he is a high quality contractor to go too.

Donnie gave us the best quote from multiple companies and started the project the same day. He was professional, took his time, and gave us a thorough report of the condition of our chimney. He spent hours in the heat without taking a break and worked into the evening to finish in one day. We were very impressed with Donnie and will definitely use him again for any other roofing or chimney issues.

I can't believe I'm submitting this before they are done. Also, because I wan't to keep them to myself, because if I give a great review, they won't be available when I need them! When I called, Donnie answered his phone right away and gave me a time he would be at the house to take a look. He arrived on time and we started going around the house documenting the rotten wood. Donnie was obviously very competent when he pointed out things that I did not see and after he started tearing wood out, it was obvious he was right on the money! He wanted me to see everything that needed repair to my satisfaction. There was not that much more that needed repair, but what he pointed out was crucial to prevent further dadmage to my home. He and his helper have worked tirelessly in the blazing heat and I offered for them to come into my home to cool off, but they kindly refused and kept on working. Man, I felt bad for them. As the days went by, I asked that they perform a couple other tasks that we had not previously discussed. Lonnie gave me a very reasonable price for the new items. I am a retired disabled veteran on a fixed income, and looking for a the most for my money. I definitely found the best man for the job and money. I could not be happier!!!

Donnie and his crew were very professional. They did a superior job.Couldn't have asked for better! They showed up on time every single day which was amazing to us since we had a bad experience with roofers in the past. Each day, they cleaned up after themselves and at the end cleaned up very well so that you could not even tell they had been there. The roof looks wonderful. The men applied the roof one section at a time so that we were never without roofing on any portion of the house. They even came out on Saturday to finish the job!! One day they worked in the rain to get the day's job done. We would definitely recommend them and use them again.
