It went great. Alex, i hope that's his name, was amazing. Very friendly and professional. He explained everything that was going on and answered all of my questions. He figured out the problem and had to go order a new belt when it came in he returned and fixed our machine. They even did a little free renovation of our laundry room. They tell what all the costs will be upfront so you don't have to worry about hidden fees, however they told me no service charge for when they returned with the belt and installed it instead I got a labor charge so not sure what the difference is there

The repair techcian arrived promptly. He asked a few questions regarding the problems I was having with the dishwasher. He then began working on the dishwasher. It took him less than 30 minutes to dismantel the internal parts and discover a small plastic part that had fallen in the pump motor which had been creating the noise. He checked the entire system to ensure that everything else was working as it should be. He gave me some helpful hints as to the operation of my unit. I was charged just the basic fee for the house call.

We can now leave the ice maker on all the time. No more machine gun noises in the house! We can even get a full glass of cold water out of the fridge dispenser rather quickly! He arrived on time and fixed the freezer issue in 15 minutes.
Description of Work: The ice maker was sounding like a machine gun and the water dribbled out of the dispenser. The technician discovered a broken filter unit and was able to disconnect the filter unit and plug the line directly into the wall. We were quoted the price of a new filter unit but decided to just leave the line connected directly to the wall. City water is fine for us!

Everything from the technichian was GREAT! He was professional, answered any questions that we had and was quick to get us the heating element that we needed......the problem ran into the staff..... It has now been almost 2 weeks since our dryer went out and 911 Services came to our home and dignosed the problem with the dryer. We were told that the heating element was going to take a couple days longer than normal because of the type of part that it was, when we were called about the price of the item. We asked when we could excpect to have the dryer fixed and were told that the part would be in by the following Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest because it was the weekend coming up and that was IF I wanted Amy to put in the order at that time, which of course I said yes! We waited until Thursday (6/6/13) to give a follow up phone call since we had not heard anything Tuesday (6/4/13) or Wednesday (6/5/13) about the part coming in. We were told that we would get a phone call to see where it was located in 20 minutes (by Michelle the office Manager, which now we are talking with because of Amy not ordering the part from the beginning).....well we waited 2 hours and finally called back to see what was going on. We again spoke with Michelle and we are now supposed to get more information on our heating element on Tuesday (6/11/13) or Wednesday (6/12/13). Which then I am sure that phone call is going to be to only schedule the installation. One question I will come back to answer is why are they charging me $175 for a heating element when it is only $10-$15?
Description of Work: I called about my 3 year old dryer to look at it because we figured it was the heating element that had went out on it. This is the second time that I have used this provider. The technichian came in and looked at the driver in a resonible amount of time even allowed my 3 year old watch from a distance.

While I am happy to hear of your confidence in our technician, it truly concerns me that you felt ill informed and over charged…. I can assure you first of all that when we are first scheduling a service call that we go through great efforts to keep clients informed of our pricing structure & how it works. We always tell potential clients that our parts pricing is based upon blue book formulation. I can also assure you that the part is in fact a special ordered part & I was not able to locate this part for $10 to $15, which is a gross underestimation of the actual cost of the part. As for the delay in the part(s) arrival, the very moment the approval for the estimate was provided, the job was marked as ok to proceed & the part(s) were placed on order. We tell people that the typical turn around for part(s) on order is 3-5 business days, but sometimes we see part(s) in as little as 24-48 hours, unless there are back order issues, availability issues or they are specially ordered part(s) . The ok to order was provided Friday 5/31/13, Memorial Day weekend, which we explained that due to that parts could take a little bit longer. Unfortunately, when the order was placed, the supplier’s website had made no indication of a back order issue, which only further delayed the process. When I spoke with the client again, the day the part was expected to arrive I explained to him that there were back order issues. It’s a troubling reality in the world of back order issues and appliance repair & I can completely empathize with the client’s frustrations. We are always working to improve our timing infrastructure and appreciate your feedback as it will be used in efforts towards improvement to that system.

I called 911 Service Today and described the problem with our 8 year old clothes dryer. The office staff promptly scheduled a technician to come and diagnose the problem. Our dryer was making a terrible squealing noise and was not drying clothes without repeated cycles. The technician arrived on time and diagnosed the problem in a few minutes. We paid the technician $70 for the service call. He said his office would call when they had the parts needed for the repair and to schedule a technician to come and install them. A day later they called and the repair was scheduled. The technician had estimated one and a half hours to complete the repair. The technician arrived on time and promptly went to work. He completed the job in about an hour and left the laundry room clean. We paid $193 for the repair so the total job was $263. The dryer now works fine. We are very happy with the service provided by 911 Service Today and would recommend them to anyone needing an appliance repair service.

I found 911 Service Today on Angie's List. You can probably see some good reviews for them and they did everything that everyone said. 911 Service Today was on-time and prompt. One guy, specifically, was just like McGuyver. Instead of ordering extremely expensive parts for the stove and refrigerator that would be more than you would want to spend, he fixed the parts that broke. He mended the parts with his hands. He fixed the ice dispenser on my refrigerator for $75 instead of a couple hundred dollars. It has been a year since 911 Service Today came to fix my refrigerator and it is still working! I will definitely use them again in the future.

I can't imagine it could have gone any smoother considering it happened on a Saturday and they were out to diagnose the problem that day for a reasonable fee. The time frame to order the part and get it installed was four business days, which I consider very reasonable.
Description of Work: 911 came out the same day ( Saturday) when our gas cooktop igniter shorted out and started smoking. They Diagnosed the problem and ordered the part. Technician was a good guy - office manager... not so much.
Description of Work: The microwave quit. I looked them up on Angie's List and based on the reviews, I called them. To their credit they managed to squeeze me in. Technician diagnosed a bad transformer. He said he would go back to the shop and check the price and let me know. I asked if there was an additional charge for installation and he said there was not. They called several hour later and said that a new transformer would cost $286.00 and it was on back-order until about April 16. I told them that I would decide whether I wanted to buy a new one or get this one fixed and would call them first of the week. I went to work on Monday and was telling my tale of woe to my electrical engineer. He said the price sounded a little high, get the transformer numbers and he would see if he could locate one. Had it the next day.- $59.00 for an identical transformer. We installed it and it made no difference. He checked it out and determined both were good. I called 911 to let them know that their technician misdiagnosed the problem, I didn't want to pay $286.00 and then find out the problem was a three dollar capacitor. The lady I talked with at 911 said she was the office manager seemed a little put out that I found a transformer so quickly. I asked about the price differential and was told they use a book price or flat rate (something like that). I just wanted to let them know that we need to look at the oven again and they said they would stand behind their technician. She became rude. I ended the conversation.

While we strive to make our customers happy, this is a truly unfortunate situation where reasonable & amicable compromises were being offered & none of what we had to offer would satisfy this customer. The homeowner was even offered a goodwill refund for the diagnostic despite the fact that order of events which had played out would normally nullify & void any warranty on a typical job. This review lacks a lot of relevant information and could easily be labeled as misleading, but I will do my best to address simply what has been placed inside the review. 1. The original diagnosis was potentially compromised due to the fact that we were told that someone other than a trained appliance technician had attempted to make a repair based on a diagnosis provided by our company technician. As a gesture of goodwill, a refund for the diagnostic fee was offered by yours truly, despite the fact that the warranty normally offered on our work had been rendered null & void once someone other than a trained appliance repair technician attempted repair. He stated he did not want our money & abruptly hung up. 2. When the original diagnostic service call was set, we took the time & explained very clearly, as we always do, the pricing structure and the job rate structure which is based upon Bluebook formulation. 3. The estimate provided to client was for a transformer for a Jenn Aire Built In/Over the Range Microwave JMV8208AAS was approved by the client. It was considered a specially ordered item, which had an original eta of 10-14 business days, but actually arrived sooner. The estimate provided here was in fact for $278.30 + tax. That included the cost of the part, the shipping, the labor for the installation of the part as well a 5 year warranty on that part. The suggested job rate for transformer replacements range from $228 to $456.20. The task of installing a transformer could be labeled as a daunting task considering the high voltage risk associated with such a part. Furthermore, the job itself is a two man job, as it is quite laborious to remove & properly reinstall an over the range or built in to the wall microwave. 4. We ONLY order part(s) from our list of AUTHORIZED parts dealers & distributors due to the fact that this helps keep costs low & the part(s) are warranted. Parts were ordered the next business day, as we received his approval on a Saturday and a little less than a week later he called claiming he had located the part(s) himself. We were surprised to hear of this but imagined that perhaps he had found a generic part or a used part. There are no further manufacturer authorized substitutions available for this part that I could locate nor are there any manufacturer authorized aftermarket part(s) available for his unit. This is when he also claimed that the part he found was for $59 and it was an identical transformer. 5. While the technician never found an issue with the capacitor, after reading this review I researched the capacitor for this model & have not been able to locate a capacitor for less than $35 not including shipping. I checked major retailer websites, as well as my own list of authorized part(s) distributors. I never could locate a capacitor for $3. 6. Ultimately, I explained, that while a technician could be sent out to reassess the unit, that additional cost may be incurred as a result of having someone other than trained appliance repair technician attempt to repair the unit. We did not know if the work we performed thus far had been compromised or not. We even offered to send the head technician, we just could not guarantee that it would not cost more. Had we completed this repair and found there was an issue with the diagnosis, we would be forthcoming & do everything to back the work to the fullest possible extent.

The original service call was made in the early afternoon. 911 Service Today came as promised to fix a refrigerator that was not cooling. We were out of town and our house sitter was there with the service man. He found that the mother board in the 6 year old refrigerator was bad and replaced it. In the evening the house sitter saw that the temperature in the refrigerator was higher than when the repairman left. She called us and we called 911 again. They immediately send someone out. Turns out that the condenser had shorted out the new motherboard!! Neither of us have knowledge of how a refrigerator works. Should the condenser have been checked on the original visit? Would condenser repair have been prohibitive? Should the mother board have been replaced without checking the condenser? As it stands we have had to buy a new refrigerator after having paid for an expensive repair. If the condenser should have been checked we would not recommend this company because of workmanship. We certainly were pleased that we could get someone out right away, and back right away when we knew something was still wrong. We are keeping our rating numbers in the middle because we don't know if extra steps should be taken by 911 or not.

After a collaborated effort with Angie’s List team members we were able to locate the job referenced within the above review. This client was not charged for the replacement of the motherboard as we did in fact locate a sealed system issue within this unit. The cost of repairing such an issue could be labeled beyond reasonable expense as the cost of such a repair could easily cover the cost of a new unit by the same manufacturer. Often times, it is difficult to see sealed system issues when there are other faulty components within a unit that could easily mask/obscure further issues within the unit. When the technician arrived and first viewed the fridge he found that the main power board, which is referred to as a motherboard, was in fact faulty and as a result power was not traveling to its designated ports, thus rendering the unit completely dysfunctional. When the motherboard had been replaced partial functionality had been brought to the unit, the compressor had kicked on & cool air was being generated. It was advised that the unit be monitored for its performance & to watch for any sudden changes. Approximately 5 hours later, after 7 PM at night, the client called stating that the fridge seemed warmer than before. At this point, we began to wonder if there wasn’t a sealed system issue within the unit. Less than 30 minutes after receiving a phone call the technician was on jobsite & the sealed system issue was confirmed. As the unit was being monitored, there was never a chance to even charge for the motherboard. We followed up with the homeowner & advised him to obtain a new unit or to check with manufacturer to see if they would back their product, as the unit was relatively young to display such an issue. One of the best ways to help maintain the health & longevity of your refrigerator is the regularly clean its coils. Once a year is recommended. Feel free to call us at 843-789-4824 to ask us how!

I contact 911 Service Today about repairing our Whirlpool WTW4800XQ Washer. I explained it was making a loud screeching sound during the agitation cycle that could be heard from outside our home. They were very professional and were even able to schedule an appointment for Saturday. The two technicians arrived on time and were very knowledgeable. At first they were unable to replicate the noise I had been hearing but after a while we put a load of clothes in the washer (previously they were running it while empty) and the noise began. The main tech calibrated the machine which seemed to help a little but it was still obnoxiously loud. He said the machine would need a replacement part, called a "splutch". He had no idea what the estimated cost would be but said they should have no problem getting the part and that it should take no longer than 30 minutes or so to replace. He said their office would call me on Monday with the estimate. I wrote a check for the days service ($60 + a bag of canned goods for the food drive they were participating in) and thanked them before showing them out. Overall I had a great experience up to this point. Since the service was early Saturday morning, that left the rest of the weekend to fret over the upcoming expense. So, I hopped on the internet and began searching. To my relief I found the part from numerous vendors for around $20. With that off my mind I relaxed and enjoyed the rest of my weekend. On Monday I got a call from the office with a quote for $265. I was speechless! I asked about the cost of parts vs. labor since I had found the part for so cheap but she wasn't able to provide that info. Still in shock I told her I'd have to get back to them. I was so angry that my "just over two years old" machine was such an expensive piece of junk that I didn't even call for other quotes. I felt confident that 911 Service Today were providing an honest quote and decided to junk the machine come tax time. Well...our tax refund wasn't as much as we had expected so we resolved to repair our piece of junk. I logged onto Angie's List to find 911's telephone number and noticed another appliance repair gentleman recommended. I was at work so I jotted down both numbers and stepped outside to call. I called the other guy first to see if there was any price difference. He informed me he charges $50 an hour and I told him what I was quoted. He said could dismantle and rebuild my entire washer in under 3 hours. While he couldn't provide a quote without seeing my machine, he assured me it couldn't possibly take three hours which means his charge would be less than $150. He also doesn't charge for quotes so there would be no service call charge like with 911. Unfortunately he was going out of town for two weeks so it would be a while before he could come out. I decided to go ahead and order the part and schedule a service with him when he returned. Trying to ensure I got the correct part I searched several sites. One site had an embedded YouTube video showing how to replace the part. It looked incredibly easy so, after recieving the parts we decided to give it a try ourselves. If we broke something or couldn't put it back together we'd have to call the repairman anyways. Turns out our parts were fine, the nut holding the pulley system in place had loosened allowing the belt to rub against the plastic casing. It took us 15 minutes to diagnose and repair this problem ourselves, for free. Long story short the issue should have probably been discovered by 911. In order to look at the part they were telling us needed to be replaced they would have had to remove the nut.

We are genuinely concerned & regret to hear of your disappointment. We truly strive to bring all of our clients exceptional service. We have investigated the history of this job and have found a few discrepancies with this review. We do not charge for estimates. Our initial diagnostic fee is a fee which helps to cover the cost of bringing an equipped, trained, licensed, bonded & insured technician to a job site where he is to be compensated for his time, effort & expertise. In order to provide anyone with an estimate, we must first have a diagnosis & that diagnosis can only be accurately made when the technician has seen the unit in need of repair. Also, at the beginning of each & every call that is placed we explain very clearly the pricing system of our services & how it works. Included in that explanation is how our estimates work and that we back our work with warranty on parts (as well as warranty on the diagnosis) and that our estimates are based upon Blue Book Formulation. The estimate which was provided for this job was not $265, but was for $165.20 + tax for the parts and completed repair of the issue reported. The trust that our clients put in us is a true privilege & responsibility, which we take very seriously. The fact that this job dates back to November 11, 2012 makes it harder for us to investigate & understand the true nature of any erroneous diagnostics made, however your input on this is still valuable and we don't wish to see you left feeling taken advantage of in anyway and really regret to know of the inconvenience this has caused you. I would encourage you to call our office manager, Michelle, at 843-789-4824. While we watch for the best interests & bottom line of our company, we owe our success to making our customers happy!

Alex arrived on time, did a good job determining damage. Wasn't making any ice or water. Was very neat. Couldn't ask for a better person. I thought the price was good in today's repairs.

The oven in our stove stopped working so we checked Angie's List for a reputable service company and found "911 Service Today". The technician arrived by appointment on Monday afternoon, investigated the cause and told us we needed a new igniter which seemed to be the problem so we told him to order the part since he did not have one on the truck. We got a call from his office about 90 minutes later. The woman gave us the exact cost and said the order would be placed on Tuesday morning. In addition, she said they would call us as soon as it arrived which they did on Wednesday afternoon so we set up an installation appointment for Thursday morning. The technician arrived on time and in no time at all our oven was back in working condition. In addition, he even vacuumed under the oven AND the refrigerator too! We would use "911" again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: An igniter was installed in our oven.

My 4 year old Whirlpool (Freezer top/refer bottom) Refrigerator stopped cooling. I had the local Whirlpool authorized repair service check it out. After a $80 service call they told me that it needed a new compressor and filter drier. Next day they called and said repairs would be $550 but said I probably would want to purchase a new refrigerator instead of repairing this one. After further checking I decided to join Angie's List and try their highest rated repair service. I called 911 Service Today and they came out immediately and found that all the refrigerator needed was an evap fan. They checked my compressor and said it was fine and had no problems. I ok'd the repair and they had the part and repair completed in less than 24 hours. My total outlay for the repair to 911 Service Today was $230.00. Needless to say I am a happy customer of 911 Service Today. I have found an honest appliance repair service. I have told two neighbors about their service and they plan to use them in the future.
Description of Work: My 4 year old Refrigerator stopped cooling and I had it checked out by the local Whirlpool Authorized Repair Service who recommended replacement of my refrigerator. I had 911 Service Today give a second opinion which resulted in circulating fan replacement, a $150 part. 911 Service Tech found the compressor working normally.

They were very quick to schedule service and even moved our appointment up earlier. Our dishwasher was repaired without having to wait for parts. The repairman and receptionist were both professional. I'd rather pay a little more and get good, dependable service. I'd highly recommend them and will plan to use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Dishwasher needed repair...the top dish rack was not cleaning our dishes. The lines had become clogged.
