Description of Work: We Paid for Bathroom design services with a full set of standard plans. They came and we went over what we wanted they just took out a pad of paper and draw what I could have done and did not leave any plans, requested a price we have not heard from them for over a week.

Description of Work: We purchased a kitchen design plan from Rob from an Angie's List special in order to begin imagining work we'll do a year or so in the future. He was prompt and delivered exactly what was promised and when he promised it. He was also great about respecting our budget request - very clear about what we could lose and gain with the amount we intend to spend. At every level straightforward and trustworthy, in such a way that we can easily imagine hiring for large projects going forward.

Description of Work: RIDB charged us $50 to evaluate and prepare a plan to remodel our kitchen. He did arrive when planned, took measurements, then announced he could not have any plans ready for "at least 2-3 weeks". This after we tried to give to him our sense of urgency as we have no kitchen. Following this, we interviewed other professionals in the area...they all seemed to know him because they had all done work for him in the past. Apparently he earns part of his income from charging fees for what others give gratis. Then he has to hire one of the other guys because he seemingly cannot do the work himself. Every one we interviewed had worked for him once and never again. To his credit, he did call back about three weeks later to tell us he hadn't had time to work on our plans but he had an estimate of $20,000-$30,000 if we wanted to get started. We declined his services. In fact the firm we selected is doing the same work for $14,000 total.

Description of Work: Rob came out twice to meet with us, evaluate the kitchen remodel and provided us with a detailed plan including renderings of what the renovated kitchen would look like.

Description of Work: We first took advantage of an offer to get a a deck concept and plan for $39. We also asked them to demolish our old concrete front stoop and build a basic wooden stoop replacement.

Description of Work: I did a complete remodel of my main bathroom. RI Build and Design helped me design the room, pick out the materials and advise me about different choices and prices. They provided a clear and concise contract. They went to the various vendors with me and made sure the items I chose were appropriate and that I got maximum value for my money. The corrected problems that existed in my plumbing and wiring and I couldn't be happier with the result. It far exceeded my expectations. These people are professional and mindful of the stress on a homeowner during the work. I would recommend these people to absolutely anyone who was looking for a contractor. They are top notch in every area.

Description of Work: RI Design Build was offering a complete kitchen design for $50.00. Our kitchen is in desperate need of change so we took advantage of the offer. To be honest, we did not have the money for a complete remodel but we did not know how we could change our kitchen layout and were trying to get some ideas. I paid for the service directly through Angie's List and called RI Design Build to set up an appointment. It took a couple of calls and messages before Bob returned my calls. We made an appointment with Bob for that weekend. He was almost an hour late for that first meeting which did not give my wife and I a good feeling. We had had run-ins with unreliable contractors before. When he got there he took measurements and we discussed our ideas for the space and what we wanted to see in his designs. After about an hour he left saying he would get back to us by that Monday or Tuesday with his designs. That's when the waiting started. We did not hear anything from him all that next week. We waited until the end of the next week to call him back. I spoke to him while he was at a job site and he said he would call back that night. Again, we did not hear from him. I called back again after two more days and left a rather terse message expressing my annoyance with his unreliable nature. Then he finally called back and made an appointment to meet with us with in the next few days. We actually had to cancel that appointment because something came up. When we did get together he showed us some very nice plans of several options for our kitchen. He incorporated all of the elements we had discussed and even added a few ideas of his own which we did like. Then came the sales pitch. We were only interested in getting some designs idea as I said, but he was very interested in having us commit to a complete kitchen remodel for about $15,000.00. We declined and he pushed more. This is not something I respond well to. So, I thanked him for the designs we paid for and shook his hand. Then he left only to call us again in about a week to ask if we had reconsidered.

Description of Work: Remove old vinyl and clap board siding and replace with new vinyl siding on a 50 year old Cape Cod with 2 "dog house" dormers. Remove old aluminum window trim and install new PVC trim. Replace eve drops and fascia boards with new PVC trim.

Description of Work: We completed a kitchen remodel. RI DESIGN AND BUILD provided their excellent services including ceramic tile design and installation, custom cabinetry, cabinetry installation, granite countertops, etc. All of these services were provided with the utmost attention to detail and the completed kitchen project is beyond satisfactory....beautiful work by Rob and his team!!!

Description of Work: Rob was hired to build a new deck with handicapped ramp to ADA specifications. A formal estimate was supplied and proper permits were pulled for the job. Rob and crew demolished the old deck and old cement stoop. All footings; framing and hardware were installed professionally; above and beyond code requirements. They removed old clap board and vinyl siding from the back of the house and replaced it with new plywood sheeting, Ty-vex, flashing and vinyl siding damaged and left unfinished by previous contractor. Rob and crew also re-installed the back door which was improperly installed by a previous contractor.

Description of Work: ROB AND HIS CREW TOTALLY GUTTED AND REBUILT OUR KITCHEN. HE REMOVED SOFFITS, RAISING OUR CABINET SPACE, INSTALLED WOODFLOORING AND PORCELAIN FLOORING WHICH INCLUDED RADIANT HEATING. WE HAD NEW WINDOWS AND DOORS, CABINETRY, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, COUNTERTOPS,TILE BACKSPLASHES, ... ROB ALSO DESIGNED AND BUILT A BAR AREA AND RENOVATED OUR BASEMENT AS WELL.
