Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

We emailed them on Sunday and put in our request for them to come the next day between 10 AM and 12 PM. They responded right away in an email saying they would be here within that time frame and would call 30 minutes before they expected to arrive. They did call and came on time. Mario and Eric assessed the situation and presented a propsed bill for about $440 that included a gallon of Roto Rooter drain protection. I told them that I still had some from the last visit so the proposal was changed to $390. They brought in their equipment, snaked out the drain and did numerous tests to make sure the drain emptied quickly. A load of laundry later showed that everything was fine. They were very professional and explained what they needed to do. My only concern is the cost. I didn't have time to have multiple companies coming in to give estimates and now looking at other companies it seems like they may have been half the cost. However I can't say they would have been as responsive, professional or effective.

Called broad street location. They sent someone at the time/ date requested. Travis Chenault was the plumber who came to do the work. He was courteous, professional and answered all my questions. I would recommend him and will ask for him in future.

They were just a disaster. The thing about it is you call up and they got there and I didn't ask the price and ten seconds later that's $220 or something. And then there were other things we got free with it but we never went back. He was here for about five minutes and he said we are giving you a free sewer line, we'll put a camera down there to see if you need work done down there. And I said wow, I don't want this guy.

He came and hooked up some device to the pipes; eventually it worked. The guy who came was pretty helpful and courteous. He did a good job.

It went fine. Everything was explained in clear language.

The bathtub drain was slow. I bought drain cleaner and tried to free the drain, but I only made it worse. Around 3 AM the following morning I had to admit I wasn't getting anywhere. I went on line to Angie's list to find a plumber. I think the only one listed for 24/7 and in the 5 mile radius of my home was Roto Rooter. I called, spoke to a REAL person, who apologized because she couldn't have someone at my house until 6 AM. I was impressed. By noon the drain was clear and they even left me with a big bottle of the correct product to keep the drain open.

Fine. He came, he cleaned, he left.

Never used them. The price was OUTRAGEOUS!!

The gentleman from Roto Rooter was at the house in less than three hours (I live out in the country), although they said it would be one hour. In my case, that delay was no problem. He cleared the clog in less than five minutes and gave me advice on how to avoid the problem in the future. He also informed me of a coupon I could print out for $40 off. I was very happy with their service.

I was very satisfied with their work. I was impressed with them because they done more services than I thought they would do.

When I first called Roto-Rooter of Providence, they were very nice and they sent out their plumber that was in my area within 45 minutes of my call. His name was Jay Gallogly. He was very nice and explained all of our options to us. He came out today and took care of everything. He was detailed in explaining what he was doing and was a pleasure to talk to! We are very happy with Roto-Rooter and will use them again in the future!

My kitchen drain became clogged with a lot of vegetable peelings (despite use of a grinder/disposal), and I called on this company late in the day. The technician came very promptly. I give this service points for a quick, efficient response. He was very professional and helpful, was very careful not to make a mess, had various recommendations for the future, and successfully cleared the drain in a reasonable amount of time. All that was needed was the use of the snake, and the clog was not far off in the draining system in the house, so it was a fairly easy job (for him). I was unhappy with the price ($325) because it was pretty clear the price was high because I had no alternatives. Therefore I felt that I had been taken advantage of. (He did offer me a discount, but when you end up at $325, it's not much of a discount.) He then made a huge deal about writing a service review in one of the online service-rating websites, saying that each week one customer was picked for a full refund... This solicitation of positive reviews really offended me. That's why I am writing this review, which represents how I truly feel about this service.

It turned out to be not a good experience. The kitchen faucet was an old fashioned one with two handles. He looked at it and said that it turned out to be repaired and it has to be replaced. He said that it would cost $500. The leak couldn’t be fixed but he didn’t even try and just looked at it. So I felt little strange but I said okay to put my name on the paper then he bashes out to get a new faucet. He came back and by then I was wise to look at it. It was of course not at all the style that would go with the house nor was it the length that needed to be as it seven but what he brought was nine. So I told that it was different and he said that it was all that they had. I said that we had to go some more places and so he suggested one place and I said okay to meet him there. I got in my car and got there in a hurry. By the time he got there I had already picked the faucet and I was in the process of paying for it. So that was $67 and it was just what I needed. This whole thing ended up costing me over $300 plus what I paid for faucet myself. It was essentially to change the faucet than to replace one washer in one bathroom. All this was because I wanted to see that I could find a plumber that would be good and not that expensive than that I had been using but I am going back to the one that I was using. I was left with the bad paste in my mouth and with the feeling that he had tried to take advantage of me thinking that I was going to do that and not knowing that I had lot of experience as I had been landlord for lot of property in many apartments for many years. I trusted him but it turned out to be expensive. He was pleasant enough and had a good conversation. I would never use him again.

They did a good job. I have no complaints at all. He was very efficient.

They were pretty bad. They gave me an estimate for water heater that was exceptionally expensive. My water heater was under warranty and they didn’t point that out to me until I noticed it. They should know that. They worked on the water heater and it still did not work and they charged me for that. In the end I sent it to the company and installed it myself. I wouldn’t recommend them. They were very responsive. They came on time. I felt they took an advantage of me. I would never use them in the future.

They were here in about half hour when I called. The service was good and he was here for about a half hour. I think the price did seem high to me though compared to what others charge.

They guy was sort of embarrassed and said he was sorry he couldn't charge less, the company has a standard price for everything. He has to charge what they tell him to charge. We told him we understood. We honestly don't have the extra cash in the bank to cover the cost. It *never* occurred to us that the price would be so high! (We researched expected costs online before calling them!) If we have plumbing work that needs to be done in the future, I would consider calling them again, but this time, I'd get an estimate before having them send someone out.

I called RotoRooter to come and clean the main drain on our house. They were a little late in arriving but did call to let us know. When they got there they gave us an estimate to perform the work and we agreed. Once they started to clean the line they found a crack in the main line and let us know they couldn't unclog it and it needed to be replaced. The technician only charged us for the service call and did not charge us for the full amount, which I thought was very professional. We did not use RR for the larger job as they only quoted me to patch the line and not replace it. Would use them again for drain cleaning.

I had originally been quoted between 300-500 by a builder who had been working on our place, but had declined to have him do it at that time. They wanted an outrageous amount of money - $1400! My experience with them has been disasterous; if you have an emergency, kiss your money goodbye!

This is going back a long way for me, but I did have Roto Rooter come out and clear a PVC line between my kitchen sink and my septic system. The clog was in the house, but about 20 feet or so from the drain. The technician opened an access point in the PVC line in my basement and used a motorized plumber's snake to clear the clog. Not surprisingly, the stuff blocking the line was old and pretty gunky, but the technician contained the mess effectively while clearing the clog, and cleaned up thoroughly afterward. He was very professional, did his work quickly and efficiently, and checked at the end to make sure the clog was really cleared. I've had no problems with this since. I wish I could provide more details, but it was about six or so years ago. Bottom line is Roto Rooter--I think they were out of Warwick--did a fine job and I would recommend them and would use them again if I had another clog I couldn't clear myself.

My only complaint was that they called in another person to give me an estimate on replacing the main sewer pipe which was 50 years old and made out of some low quality material. This guy proposed doing the project in a way that I was not comfortable with, provided a very high cost estimate, and then tried to push me to sign off on it the same day. Instead I went with a second opinion and the new contractor (Dennis Diffley of Warwick RI) quoted the project the way I wanted it done and came in at 40% less than Roto Rooter had quoted for an inferior job. Overall, I would recommend them for an emergency drain cleaning as they were extremely fast and got the job done at a fair price. I would NOT recommend them for any major work however.

The job was completed to our satisfaction and we will definitely use this company again!

They were excellent. I first called them on a Sunday. They could not do the job the first day because we needed a plan for the yard. I got a 2nd quote for the work but called Roto Rooter back. The gentleman that came back to do the work was fantastic. He knew what he was doing and did the job quickly, efficiently and neatly. He did all the work outside the home, where the 2nd quote would have done the work inside the house and made a mess. The gave excellent customer service with a knowledgeable staff.

They did clear out the pipe but did a poor job of cleaning up afterwards.

They came promptly and did what they said they were going to do. I was satisfied with their service.
