My daughter and I went into the store with a specific model in mind: a Garbage Disposal, which we had researched and felt that it was best suited to our needs. We were shown a couple of other similar ones, but stayed with the one we had previously chosen. The salesman did not mind spending time with us, was open to questions of comparison in function and cost, offered opinions that were informed regarding the models available. I really appreciated the information and the fact that there was no pressure to up-sell. I walked out of the store with my item feeling that I got a good product at a good price. I will definitely shop here again. As a matter of fact, I did go back a couple of months later looking at refrigerators and received unhurried attention with an offer to special order a model not on display. I will more than likely take advantage of this offer in the very near future. I love this store, the sales people are friendly, knowledgeable and patient. The store has a wide variety of good name products and the prices are reasonable.
Description of Work: While this wasn't a service per se, I was totally happy with the buying experience. I got undivided attention, information that was helpful and which made the experience smooth and efficient. When I finished with the purchase of the garbage disposal, I felt comfortable that I got the product that I needed at a good price.

The service was prompt and efficient. The cost seemed a bit steep but it was mainly due to the price of the part.
Description of Work: I have a four year old Bosch gas range that I purchased from Wickford appliance. One day the oven just wouldn't turn on. I called and was able to arrange for a repair person to come out the next day. he was very familiar with the problem. He quickly replaced the igniter and the problem was solved. he also told us that this is typical and that we should expect it to happen at a similar interval. Now I'll know what to expect.

We have not been happy with each person. They can have people who are knowledgeable, but they can be expensive.

I last used Wickford about 2 years ago. I have used them to repair my stove, fridge, and dishwasher. They have a minimum amount they charge for a service call which is around $100. I think they are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. They do a terrific job, and I would definitely use them again. I would recommend them to anyone.

All in all I've had good experiences with Wickford. I've received pricing from them which is better than their local competitors. Prices may be a bit higher than some of their online counterparts which I have not purchased from due some scathing reviews I've found online. Generally, for larger purchases I prefer to have a retail presence. The staff at wickford has always been helpful and knowledgeable. Delivery has always gone smoothly and on time.

They delivered a refrigerator with doors that were damaged. They said that the doors must have been damaged in the warehouse when the handles were changed. I had to leave the refrigerator unloaded over night, so I lost a large amount of food. It was not a good experience.

Overall it waas a very frustrating and stressful experience. Explanation is covered in the above section.
Description of Work: Washing machine would not go in to wash or spin cycles - it would only fill & drain. At the first visit the repairman told me that I needed a module control. This diagnosis was made without even pulling out the machine & getting behind it. He ordered the part for me & told me it was a 2 man job. I was scheduled for the following week. The repairmen came & when the 2nd man got behind the machine he found a loose connection. He fixed the connection, the machine tested OK, the new part was not installed. The machine worked for 1 week. I called Wickford Appliance & the repairmen returned, found the same loose connection, & secured with a wire tie, machine tested OK. Repairman said vibrations from machine were probably causing the connection to become loose. Machine worked for 3 days. I called Wickford Appliance & asked for different repairmen. 1 of the 2 repairmen was different. The man who actually got behind the machine was the same person as before. He found the same loose connection & secured it with a wire tie, machine tested OK. Machine worked for less than 24 hours. Not once in these visits did anyone think to actually level the machine. I called to speak to the manager who had left for the day (a Friday) & was taking a long weekend. He would not be in until Tuesday. In the mean time I called Bosch to ask them what I should do. I was told that Wickford Appliance was not authorized to work on Bosch products. When I finally did talk to the manager I told him I wanted my money back. When I told him that BOsch told me that Wickford Appliance was not authorized to work on their products he denied it & told me whoever I spoke to at Bosch was wrong. I did receive most of my money back. They kept the $99.00 for the original diagnosis ( which was wrong).

It turned out fine and they were great. They had good communication and they were punctual. They were clear about their pricing and the process. There were no surprises and the fact that they are local is helpful.

I needed to re-route the waste water flow from a couple bathrooms away from an old cesspool on one side of the house and into an existing septic system on the other side. This involved cutting into PVC and cast iron pipes, splicing them into a new PVC stack, and connecting that stack to an existing stack already going to the septic system. I think of Rick Clemont, who does a lot of the plumbing for Wickford Appliance, as "my plumber"--he's been doing work for me for years. He came out and assessed the situation, figured out a materials list, quoted me a price, scheduled the work. He came back on the appointed day and time with his apprentice Ben and the two went right to work. They worked efficiently and got the job done in three hours. They cleaned up, leaving a nice, neat job and work site. Everything they did has been great in the two weeks since--no leaks, no problems.

They took much longer to get here than they anticipated, so they were late arriving. However, the service was excellent. Once he found the problem he fixed it immediately and didn't even charge me beyond the diagnostic. He found a plumb pit in the tubing and was able to get it up and running again very quickly. I remember telling him he was definitely worth waiting for!

They didn't have a gigantic selection on the floor, but were able to check their database and tailor the item just to our needs. We had very specific dimensions and they were able to help us find items in their warehouse that matched our specifications. We bought it not comparing price, then found out later online that it was more expensive elsewhere, so we were very happy with the price. The delivery service was very good, they were very friendly. The even hauled away the old fridge for about $20.
Description of Work: At the last minute our fridge died and we needed a new fridge right away. We went to several places and could not find what we needed. Someone recommended them to us, the service was really good. This price includes the service plan.

We purchased the appliances from them and paid slightly more than I could get them for online. They were also recommended by our contractor. The appliances did not arrive on time and installation appointments were a bit slower than we would have liked. The installed most of the appliances with no issue. The cooktop fan was installed sloppily and did not fit right. The fan also did not work and required 2 visits to fix it properly after many weeks of waiting for parts and service appointment openings. Our cooktop also came with the wrong parts and was put together incorrectly and required many calls to the manufacturer (Kitchen Aid) who was very unresponsive and sent the wrong parts twice. Wickford did not make the calls, nor help by buying replacement parts at their cost and going after Kitchen Aid afterwards. As a result we went without a cooktop for almost 7 weeks. Eventually they did help out and made some calls for us to the manufacturer and eventually repaired the fan unit. I was pleased with the end result, but had to work very hard with them to get them to make it right.
Description of Work: We purchased 6 appliances from Wickford including a cooktop, rising cooktop fan, dishwasher, oven, warming drawer, microwave/convenction oven with installation. They also provided repair services on both the cooktop and fan unit.

I woke up to discover that the milk in my coffee was bad. Then I realized the refrigerator was not working properly. I called Wickford Appliance at 7:30 am and spoke immediatly to the service rep. She was very helpful. She found a tech who would be in my area that day. He came, took the frig apart, determined the problem but had to come back the next day since the part needed was not on the truck since I had not been a scheduled repair. He came back the next day and finished the repair. The repair tech told me to wait 24 hours after the repair to buy perishables, which I appreciated since my plan had been to run right out after he left and buy chicken and steaks for the next two nights dinners. The tech was very professional (I had to insist he stop calling me maam), he even stopped before entering my home and asked if I wanted him to put cloth covers on his shoes! I especially appreciated his thoughfulness in advising me to wait to restock until the frig had time to reach its peak temperature.
Description of Work: Discovered the refrigerator wasn't cold Monday morning. They came that day, took the freezer apart (it is a French door refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom and a two door frig) and discovered the fan that sends the cold air to the frig was not working to full capacity even though it was still turning. Unfortunately, he did not have the replacement part on the truck (I wasn't on his schedule) but he did come back and finish the repair Tuesday. By then the fan had actually stopped working.

I went to the Pawtucket store to buy lights for my front and back doors(a total of three lights). I was greeted by the salesperson, Linda. She took me to the lighting section. I told her of my immediate need for new lights(I needed to bring some home with me that day) and the lack of time I had to spend in the store. As we walked to the lighting area she asked what type of house I had, why I was replacing my current lights and what I did and did not like as well as my budget. After my answers she showed me my in stock choices. I was happy and out of the store in less than 10 minutes! I did have to go to the warehouse to pick up the lights but it is less than 4 minutes away (and on the way back to route 95). Linda was great. She knew I had no time and still managed to abstract enough info from me so that I got the best lights for my house.
Description of Work: I had an electrician coming to my house that afternoon and decided that while he was at my house I would ask him to replace the lights at the front and back doors, so I went to Wickford Appliance hoping to return home with lights.

Our 'fridge died over night. I originally called the Wickford store, but the sales department didn't answer. I called the Pawtucket store and spoke to Brian. He was very helpful. I told him our limitations on color, size, timing, and budget, and we had a 'fridge picked out in no time. And there was no pressure to go with the more expensive unit. I called a couple of the national chain stores, but Wickford had better prices, delivery times, and Brian was better informed. The delivery guys were professional, polite, and squeezed the 'fridge into its place without damage to the house.

We originally went to the store in Wickford and thought the service and information provided was average. We were looking to spend a good deal of money and no one seemed that interested in helping us. We decided to go to the Pawtucket branch of the store and were totally impressed by the service and knowledge of the man that helped us--Phil. We had originally thought about buying a very expensive stove and I discussed some of the problems with them that I had researched. Phil did not try to con us but in fact agreed--he did not dissuade us at all but did not try to railroad us into buying something that would inevitably have caused us problems. He helped us every step of the way--delivery was almost overnight. He gave us the name of someone to do our tricky stove installation who was fantastic and did a great job. I can't say enough good things about this particular store and our experience. I tell all the people I know and will certainly buy all appliances I need from them.

They were very helpful when I went to the store to pick out the merchandise. We went through a lot of catalogs, so I could find exactly what I wanted. There were no glitches at all. I needed to special order the refrigerator and they were so quick about it. I had it in two days. They understood my need though for the unit. They also did not damage anything in the house, when they delivered it. I am very happy with this company.
