Michelle was very helpful & knowledgeable. We'd had a 4.8 cubic ft HE Whirlpool Cabrio top load washer w/ no agitator for only 4 1/2 yrs. The parts that hold the drum all broke & the motor was leaking oil. We paid $770 on sale when we purchased it at Best Buy & they weren't overly helpful at the time. Best Buy wanted $100 to walk in the door. Then they'd order parts & it would cost another $100 plus parts & labor for them to come back. I called a local appliance repairman. He let us know that the repair would be almost as much as purchasing a new machine. He also stated that the Cabrio was known for those issues. He recommended purchasing a washer that has an agitator. So, we decided to go Wickford Appliance. We wanted a company we could rely on should we need them in the future. Every experience was top notch, sales (they matched Best Buy's sale price), delivery at my convenience, & removal of my old machine. They only install if you buy new hoses which we didn't need. But, Steve hooked up the drain & moved the new machine just far enough back for us to reach to attach the hoses. Steve & his partner (so sorry I forgot his name), were polite, friendly, & professional. I've been buying appliances for 41 years. Now I remember why I prefer dealing w/ a company that only sells appliances. Forget those big box stores. I will be returning to Wickford Appliance when I need another appliance.

This is the 3rd time we've purchased appliances from Wickford Appliance, and we'll continue to do so. They're always very helpful, responsive, and professional, both on the sales floor and upon delivery. They're always very informative and knowledgeable about the appliances and mention anything we need to be aware of (e.g., don't get jeans caught in the washer door or it's a $500 repair). The delivery guys were quick, professional, courteous, and left no mess at all.

I'd rather not say until the product arrives.
Description of Work: I purchased a subzero refrigerator in December 28, 2009. The company at that time would not honor a certain commitment. I did not go back to that company until Angie's List got involved in May. Owner's family member took three hours to get back to me the first day, six hours to get back to me the second day. Original sales person Michelle Kennedy took over and fulfilled a commitment that was promised five and a half years ago. Add on products being ordered. Anxiously awaiting for installation.

They charged $700 for the labor. They held to the price that they quoted, which we thought was unusual and way they did the work, it was more extensive than they thought it was going to be, but they still held to their price quote. They called to set up appointments and came on time. They were very courteous in their scheduling and they were very neat in their work. We compared priced on what we bought, and their price was reasonable than most and they had a better understanding of the whole heat pump thing.

We purchased a Miele washer and dryer from them and when the washer was having trouble, I contacted Wickford for service. They sent out a technician that said we needed a plumber and they would send one out the next day. He charged $90 for that and was extremely rude. The plumber was there for literally 15 minutes and charge $125 and was also not helpful or friendly. Very disappointing experience after spending thousands of dollars with them.

I had some issues with the installer, but give the overall job an and quot;Aand quot; because a followup service (necessitated by the hot water heater installation) was outstanding. Installer didn't call before arrival and lacked professionalism. It was a very cold day and failed to close the door to my house every time he went to his truck. He installed the heater and replaced a section of PVC where my washing machine discharged and replaced it with a and quot;Yand quot; section to accommodate the hose from the condenser pump from the heater. The next day, I washed laundry and when I returned to my basement, the floor was flooded. The discharge hose from my washing machine was capped to prevent overflow and the installer didn't cap the new pipe nor did he warn me that it might overflow. I called the company and Ben called to find out the problem. Ben called to let me know he was on his way and made the modification to the pipe that was needed to avoid future overflow. This involved replacement of part and another pipe, but the cost was reasonable and I was happy with the fix. At the same time, he installed a lever on my water hookup for my washing machine, again at a very reasonable cost. I will definitely use Wickford again, but only if Ben can perform the service. I didn't have an Angie's Deal for the heater install, but Wickford's price was almost $1,000 less than the estimate I got from Jand K Plumbing - a company I did use and like from a previous deal. I recommend Wickford highly and also recommend getting multiple estimates.

My 3 year old Amana dryer stopped working in mid-July, so I called Wickford Appliance for repair on July 22. They sent someone out on July 29, who said a new part was needed, and someone would be back in a week to fix the dryer. Then they said the part was backordered. We waited, and a tech came out again August 23, only to be told it wasn't the right part. Another part was ordered, and it was installed on August 29. The dryer lasted one load. I called them again that day, and they said they'd order the part again, and an different technician finally came out September 11. He said the dryer was running too hot, and suggested 3 more parts. Finally, after 10 weeks without a dryer, they finally fixed it. I called Wickford Appliance because I believed that they would know what they're doing, that they would give me an informed estimate of what it would take to fix the dryer, that they would have necessary parts available or they would be able to expedite their acquisition of any parts, and that they would treat me well. I have to say they did treat me well. The people I talked with on the phone and the techs who came out to my home were courteous and punctual. If it did not take so long, I would have been very happy.

Had to wait a couple of weeks for first call. Then had to order part. That took a couple of weeks as well, to order and schedule return call. My refrigerator was freezing everything for over a month while I waited for this repair. Otherwise the repair was done properly and the refrigerator is working fine

Diagnosis at first visit was fine. The technician was knowledgeable, courteous and professional. The follow up appointment where the repair was to be made was a disaster. They called me at work saying that they could come in 30'. I went home to meet them and waited another 1/2 hr. Then they called and said it would be 30' more until they came. I had rescheduled my work afternoon to make the original time and could not stay. I then called the service center and they were completely unresponsive. Were unwilling to give a definite time for third(!) visit - despite their being no-show for the second. Rude as well.

Once I was finished with the other merchant and called Wickford Appliance every thing went smoothly!
Description of Work: I had purchased a washer and dryer at another store. When it was delivered the men delivering it got something wrong. They sent a repair man who said it was not fixable. I had them take the units back. Then I went to Wickford Appliance and purchased an identical set. The price was a few dollars higher however the delivery men know exactly how to install this particular machine. The store is nice, the sales people give personal attention, and their repair people are great. I have never had a bad experience - Who knows why I shopped some where else.

Store is convenient to find, has lots of parking and is beautifully set up inside. We have been through both their regular display areas and their backroom discound area, as well as their summertime outdoor sale. Their sales staff are friendly and knowledgeable. This also holds true for their service staff, who were on time and installed our appliances professionally; all machines are still working well after 5-1/2 years.
Description of Work: We purchased a washer, a dryer and a dehumidifier from Wickford Appliance since 2008. The first two items were delivered and installed by their service personnel. We also have been to the store several times to price other items.

The first problem was that salesman quoted us a list price that was $50 higher than the manufacturer's suggest retail price. He did offer a discount and rebate that brought the price down, but the cost was still $50 more than at most other dealers. Additionally, their cost for installation and removal of the old machine was nearly double what we wound up paying elsewhere.

We were quite pleased with the sales and service experience. The cost of the appliance was a bit above the big box stores, but we wanted to support our local businesses. We were not disappointed. Our sales associate was quite patient with us as we went through all the options. He helped us schedule the service component as well. We liked the convenience of having it all done by one company and it paid off. We had set up the install and delivery on two days to ensure the line went in. On install day, the techs actually went to pick our stove up themselves so it was done in one day. This was quite a bonus to us. They were prompt, clean and very professional.

Told their normal response for repairs is two week. Who can go that long. Crazy had to call owner both times to get service move up. One repair was almost more than cost to replace. The service is the worst. Pricing is good. But unless they improve service I don't think they can survive in today's market.
Description of Work: Have extended warrantee on a GE Washer and Dryer. Had to use Three times since purchase.

I made the first call to Wickford to have someone come and look at my dishwasher as it stopped working. That was the beginning of July. He came out, was pleasant enough, spent about 10 minutes looking at the dishwasher, told me I needed a new control board and to call the next day for the parts department to give me a quote. I called the next day, got the quote, and told them I would think about it as it was a significant amount of money to fix a dishwasher. I went to the store in Pawtucket to look at new dishwashers. The sales guy was really nice. I decided to stick with my dishwasher and to do the repair after finding nothing I liked for less than twice what the repair would cost me. They ordered the parts that day. I had to call twice to check on the parts as they took a very long time to come in. When they did come in, they could not schedule me for a week. The same repair guy came back to install the new control board as scheduled. After an hour at my house, he figured out they had ordered the wrong part. So, after waiting that long for the part to come in, they had to go back and order another one, which came in a bit faster than the first, but still, being with out a dishwasher for that long was wearing on me. When the new part came in, I took the first appointment available, a 5-9 timeslot. After waiting unitl almost 9pm, we finally got a call that the repair guy was running late. I didn't want to wait any longer, so we told him to come that night. He showed up around 10. After installing the new part, the dishwasher still did not work. In fact it behaved in the same manner it did before the first guy came to diagnose the problem. At that point, the guy said they needed to call the manufacturer and figure out what was wrong. So, in summary, the first service call person misdiagnosed the problem, they ordered a control board for a different dishwasher, and after two months, I still did not have a working dishwasher. After they figured out what was really wrong with it (after calling the manufacturer), they told me it would cost me approximately $1,000 to fix it. Obviously, I decided not to go that route as the dishwasher, especially used, is not worth that much. I told them how unhappy I was with the whole process. The customer service lady, who was really nice, had a supervisor call me that afternoon. I asked if there was anything they could do, refund me the $90 service call, or give me the $90 as credit toward a new dishwasher, or free install, or anything. He said "no, I'm sorry, there is nothing we can do." After all these mistakes on their part, I was really surprised, especially from a local company. So needless to say, I just went to Sears to buy my new dishwasher, instead of Wickford Appliance. Too bad, I was trying to work with a local company, but I am truly disappointed by this experience.

They were very expensive. The person who came out to our house was not very professional. He kept on talking about himself, and he didn't have a good attitude. He automatically told us what was wrong the refrigerator without pulling out the refrigerator. We had a leak in the refrigerator, and when they came back to fix it they had the wrong part. They tried to fix the refrigerator with the wrong part. After they did the work with the wrong part, I then was having issues with the temperature in my refrigerator. I had another company come out to look at the temperature issue, and they told me I was having this problem because the other company fixed the first problem wrong.
Description of Work: I had Wickford Appliance and Lighting Centers come to my house to fix a leak on my subzero refrigerator.
