We offer all 4 materials (fiberglass, vinyl, wood, and composite) and 7 window brands, including major brands like Marvin, Pella and Harvey, just to name a few. There is a window and/or door for everyone in our selection. We do all of our own installations and we back up all our work with a Lifetime Labor and Service Warranty, on top of the manufacturer’s product warranty. We are a bit confused by this review. When you came into the showroom to look at our various windows and indicated that you planned to install them yourself, you seemed satisfied with what we showed you. As we explained in our first meeting, when we sell a product direct to an installer, the person who plans to install them must provide all of the measurements; if we install the windows, we measure the openings. All windows ordered are custom products and when we install a window, we're responsible if we somehow measured it wrong; we absorb the cost of re-ordering the window. We've worked with many installers in the past, this is a standard industry-wide practice (if you go to Home Depot and buy a window, you need to bring the measurements with you). Upon our second meeting, when you came back into the showroom to compare your final window choices and asked us to measure the windows, we weren't able to give you a final response on that request without checking with the owner. Again, this isn't a common practice. We called and left you a message with a price we could add on to take the window measurements for you, and to take on the risk of replacing the windows should one of the windows not be measured correctly. Despite leaving several messages and sending an email to follow up, we never heard back from you, nor did you ever mention siding to us during our interactions; hence our confusion by this review. We wish you success with your self-installation, we're sorry we weren't able to provide the windows for you. Please let us know if we can assist you further.

Description of Work: No services were performed yet. The window is on order. A down payment was given for the service to be provided as soon as the window comes in. As far as the representative for the company is concerned I could not be more satisfied. He was exceptional. His name is John Hughes and the information he provided for me and the questions he answered regarding windows couldn't be matched. The Bay window here in my living room really concerned me. The issue has been whether or not to replace the window or replace just the window panes. His expertise on the subject of windows is outstanding and I am confident that this company will do an exceptional job for me and I will get back to you to tell you how it all goes.

Description of Work: Contract has been sgned. John Hughes salesperson came to my house did not rush took the time I needed to answer my questions. I called had a few more questions he came back out answered all questions I signed contract. Installer came and measured my windows and slider. United Better Homes is the most professional contracters I have dealt with in 30 years

Description of Work: We had a window replaced in our kitchen. Technician was on time and had the window installed quickly. he even took the label off the window and washed it. The kitchen looked just as it had before he came, the floor was swept and all materials and trash were removed

Description of Work: United Better Homes installed 10 windows and a slider in family room and kitchen. Without being a window installer myself, I believe that the windows are properly installed. The workmen worked hard and I believe they were competent. However, I still have some grievances: |1) we were led to believe that the interior portions of the windows would be finished with white paint. They were painted white, but it's clearly a primer coat and not a finished coat, so we have another task in front of us to complete the job. |2) Apparently, the job was scheduled for 1 day, however, the job was clearly a 2 day job. Instead of returning the next day to finish it, they decided to keep to their schedule of doing the other scheduled jobs, and putting us off 6 days! It wasn't until I stopped payment on their check and told them it better be done before the rain starts that they came back and completed the job. |3) In spite of 3 reminders to take off the base plate to my wireless security system on 2 windows, they lost one of them forcing me to buy a new one. |4) They lost some critical hardware for our curtains which I had to replace. |5) Their cleanup was not complete. Our deck appears to be stained with some white substance after the work.

We appreciate all feedback, especially when it’s less than stellar, as it gives us a chance to look at what’s working in our company and what could use some improvement. I’ve spoken to the head installer on the job and to the window specialist who gave the original consultation in order to better understand your concerns. For the sake of continuity, I will respond to each concern above by following the same format. |1) After speaking to our window specialist, it’s clear that you were given information that was not accurate, and for that we apologize. The windows that you ordered come “primed”—which is what you have seen. Most of the windows that we work with come finished, this is one of the only ones that does not, and clearly we have room for improvement for training our sales staff in this area with regards to that particular window line and style. |2) Again, our bad on taking longer than 1 day for this installation. I spoke to our head installer on your job, and he acknowledges that he should have brought more help in order to complete it in one day. I know he stayed late into the night (he believes it was 9:30pm when he left) and tried to make arrangements to get back to you within a few days, but unfortunately during our busy season we end up with less flexibility in scheduling, and we prefer to have the same crew complete the job if at all possible. The installer indicated that he went back 2 more days for a couple of hours each, I can imagine that was a hassle for you and we’re sorry that we didn’t have more installers there on day 1 to prevent that from being the case. Again, this is a good learning experience for us. Regarding the stop payment on the check, we didn’t receive notice of that in our office until 4 days after the work was finally completed, so although it may have seemed that that was a motivating factor for us completing the job, it actually wasn’t. We offer a lifetime labor and service warranty on our installations, we do our best to make things right if something goes wrong, and the main deciding factor in how long it took us to get back out to you to complete the job was a busy schedule (and again, poor planning in the first place by not having more installers out there on day one). |3) Regarding the security system base plate, this was an oversight on the part of the installers, and although they dug through the dumpster and were able to find one of them, I know one was lost. Again, our apologies. I’m sorry that we had so many human errors occur all during your installation! We appreciate you allowing us to make it right by paying for a new baseplate. |4) When I asked the installer about the curtain hardware, he wasn’t aware of there being any issue. We do our best to take great care when removing and replacing hardware, if something went missing please accept our apologies (again!), especially as we weren’t aware that anything was missing at the time. |5) Regarding the cleanup, we do pride ourselves on leaving homes exactly as we found them, that is our intention and our promise. As the installers were working late into the night on the first installation day, the head installer went out to buy headlights so they could see as the cleaned up the yard after dark. He wasn’t aware that anything was left behind, but again, due to the lateness of the hour it’s obvious that there are somethings we may have missed. In closing, clearly this wasn’t our best installation, and it appears that several of these issues would not have arisen at all had we simply had more installers working on your job. Thank you again for taking the time to give us feedback, we will use this to improve our business practices for future jobs. If there’s anything that you feel we can do to rectify anything else that hasn’t yet been addressed, please give Nicole a call in the office. Thank you and enjoy your new windows and sliding door!

Description of Work: United Better Homes replaced 20 windows (8 Marvin and 12 Mezzo) and a sliding door in our house. This included foam insolation, wrapping, and replacing some rotted wood at one window. The work went like clockwork. A large crew arrived on time and worked nonstop until the job was done. Everyone was professional, friendly, and responsive to questions I had. They also replaced some trim around the slider that I hadn't thought to include in the work. On top of that, they primed and painted the entire door frame AND my kitchen window so that everything looks very fresh and clean. I truly am very impressed by their work and would highly recommend them. I plan to have them back when it is time to reside our house.

Brian and Eddy and their crew started and finished the whole job, with the exception of one window, within 4 hours. There was one window that had to be reordered and installed 3 days later. I was very happy with the work.

My experience with United Better Homes, from start to finish was a joy! I particularly want to compliment their crew of three young men who arrived a few minutes early and who worked so well as a team. Each member knew his role and executed it perfectly. And those roles were so well planned out: While one man came into the house and began removing the old windows, the other two unloaded all of the windows from the truck. Once that was done, one of those two began to unwrap the windows and carry them carefully up the three flights of stairs, without "dinging" the woodwork, placing in the room in which it would be installed. The third man began installing the windows. By the time several had been installed, the man who had carried the windows up replaced the moldings, calked and cleaned up the area around each window. Whenever any of them had a free moment, he would cart an old window, some weights, or whatever downstairs and load them onto the truck. The installation of 19 large windows and the thorough clean-up afterwards took about 6 1/2 hours! Each was perfectly installed functions beautifully. I got a high quality installation of a high quality product and I will say that I am not the easiest person to please. I would not hesitate to recommend United Better Homes to anybody.
