I originally called James to remodel a bedroom. He got back to me right away, which I find rare among contractors. James was very helpful and knowledgable. He sent me a detailed estimate the following day. Unfortunately, it ended up that I had to have work on the outside of the house done before I could go ahead with the bedroom remodel. I called James again, and again he came right out to the house and gave me an estimate on the new work that needed to be done. The siding looks great. I can not say enough about James and this company! Due to illness and finances, I have been unable to go forward with projects I was hoping to have Garcia home improvement do, yet each time I call James he is still as accommodating and courteous as the first time.

This is the second time we have used this company for a large renovation project and this time it went as smoothly as the first. The crew showed up virtually everyday. James has a skilled staff good at multiple jobs. This ability to do virtually everything is a big advantage when trying to get a large project completed. Plumbing, electric, he does it all. His finish carpenter is particularly skilled. We required considerable custom woodworking - inside and out - to enhance the cottage's Victorian roots. The large wrap-around porch needed more structural work than we initially thought. However, it was no problem. They analyzed the situation, came up with solutions and did the work necessary to keep the job moving. Dependability is so important when selecting a contractor and James Garcia is amongst the most dependable contractors I have ever worked with. And, I'm someone who moves often and has worked with many - the good, the bad and the ugly. I've even been told I can be difficult and demanding. Fair warning, he likely won't be the cheapest quote you get, however, expect to get what you pay for - plus some.

This was a large upmarket residential renovation totaling well over $100,000. The general contractor,Garcia Home Improvement did an excellent job. The project took approximately 4 months from start to finish. It was directly managed by company owner James Garcia. This man was extremely detail and quality oriented and his expert crew worked hard to meet his (and our) expectations to make sure every aspect of the project was done right. If, on the rare occasion it wasn't done right, it was done over. We provided most of the design and high-end finish materials on the interior, while Garcia provided all of the labor and structural materials necessary. This arrangement worked well for both of us. Other than holidays and weekends the crew showed up virtually every workday for 4 months straight. Unbelievable! We are not new to home renovation and have seen the good, the bad and the ugly of the general contracting world. We were prepared to struggle with such a large renovation, but Garcia Home Improvement came thru as one of the most professional operations I have ever observed. When the rare problem came up, it always came with a solution attached. Since we were living in the house with 3 noisy dogs during the entire project, consideration on everybody's part was essential. The crew almost always took adequate time out at the end of each work day to clean up the site understanding it was somebody's home. My experience has not always been good in this regard. Since time is money in the contracting world, the daily clean-up often gets the short shrift. Not with this company. The only part of the huge project not done by Garcia was the new heating system, otherwise he did everything necessary to take a very dated and worn 1972 colonial (needing EVERYTHING) and make its interior shine like 2014. We could have hired a less expensive contractor (be aware Garcia Home Improvement is not the cheap seats), and some of the extras were a little more expensive than expected. But value is always the intersection of price and quality. In this case, we achieved the highest value we could have ever expected. Thank you Angie's List!!

They did an awesome job - knew exactly how to fix the issues in our home, did it in a cost effective way. Worked quickly. Very professional. Reasonable prices. Will definitely use them again for any work we need done in our home in the future!

James did a great job on the stairs. We did not know how to fix the problem of uneven risers and no railing, but he figured out a design that worked. We were out of town so had to arrange the job long distance. We got a bid (and he sticks to it) and a date that changed. He did the work and we returned to stairs that work and a railing. The little nasty jobs he did perfectly. He painted around a light fixture, put a back splash behind the stove to the exhaust fan, and cut off the screws for the toilet than the installer had left very long. I appreciate the big job, but the small jobs were aggravating and it is hard to get someone to little stuff like that. James did it all and we were not here to supervise.

I had many jobs that I needed to have done. I typed them up and gave them to James when he responded quickly to my request for contractor/handyman. He gave me an estimate overnight and after a week and a half of work, I just paid him. It was a $100 less as I deleted one item. They showed up when he said they would be there. They fixed the kitchen first as it was the only urgent thing and was the biggest. I needed the dishwasher and garbage disposal installed correctly as they had been installed badly. I wanted a new counter and new sink. They found that they could use the cabinet so that did not need to be ripped out. They had to build the counter as I wanted black mat laminate and it would have to be a special order and I was in a hurry to get it done. They did it all and it all works and no leaks in the basement. I also asked for two shelves with an edge (to stop things from falling off) running the whole length over the counter and dishwasher. James tiled a back splash up to the lowest shelf. All done. It looks as I hoped it would and is all cleaned up and super. They also took out some old ac units that had been installed 20 years ago or so through the walls. Patched the wall inside and out with wallboard and siding. They also thought to put insulation in the space and I was happy as I had not requested it so they just did it correctly on their own. The siding was matched as closely as one can match 20 year old siding. The new wallboard and tape is painted and looks great. I needed a outside light. The previous "handyman" had disconnected some wiring and no switch appeared to go the back door light. My present "real" handymen figured out how to set up the light with a motion detector. I really did not want to pay for a whole rewiring thing so was very pleased. I also wanted two new light fixtures put up - living room and dining room, All done. I could not be more pleased with the work. I did not feel that they had two or three other things going on and fit me in when they felt like it. I know this can happen and I am happy to say that they worked on my job steadily until it was done.

Great! The contractors gave an accurate and detailed estimate, scheduled the work to meet my needs, showed up on time, and did the work efficiently and well. It looks great, very solid construction and well worth the price. The contractors were very pleasant, well-informed, careful, and did a nice, neat and professional job. They also maintained a safe and tidy work area. I wil hire them next for interior renovations.

Very well. Mr Garcia was very professional, responsive, and pleasant. He and his asssociate did a great job, made the effort to make sure I was able to get out of the driveway with my car after a couple of feet of snow fell overnight. Twice.
