It hasn't rained yet to test the repair, but I felt comfortable working with Sean and Brian. They seemed very fair and honest and were able to show me where the leak was coming from. They were polite and worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves. And best of all, came in below the estimate they gave me. While the leak did not end up being a major problem with the roof (fortunately!), it did take several trips on their part, but I feel the problem is resolved, and I will certainly not hesitate to use them again in the future.

In response to having been let down by another contractor, I signed up for an Anglies list account specifically to reseach and hopefully find a reliable contractor to assist me make emergency repairs in order for me to be able to keep my existing insurance coverage. I contacted Sean and explained my emergency. Given the tight time line I had to make the required repairs and Seans already booked schedule, Sean went above and beyond to get to my property on a Sunday to make the repairs my property needed. As it turned out, Sean not only gave me a better quote, but I also suspect, a far better repair, than the previously consulted contractor that had failed to come through for me. I will most definitely keep Sean contact information for any further work I need done or for anyone else I know that is looking for a good contractor who is reliable, honest, efficeint, punctual and that does top quality work at a reasonable price.

I had a leak around the exhaust pipe for the plumbing and two leaks on a section of flat roof. I called several roofing contractors on Angie's list. One wasn't interested in such a small job and another didn't return my call. Sean from A-1 Roofing called me and told me that he had two employees who lived in Tiverton and could come out and take care of this for me the next day. Anxious to get this done I agreed without first getting an estimate. The two employees responded early the next morning and took care of the leaks replacing a pipe flange and repairing two seams on the flat section of roof using four feet of mesh and roofing cement. They were there approximately 2.5 hours and a half hour was spent getting the necessary flange. They were courteous and professional. I was very satisfied with the repair. We had a heavy rain the next day and no leaks! I was a little taken back when I received the invoice in the mail for $550.00! The total labor listed on the invoice was 8 man hours. When I called and explained I was home and that they were there for much less I was told to take $150.00 off the bill. I had a coupon for 5% off from Angie's List which brought the total to $380.00. Although satisfied with the work I think the price was a little high. My fault for not obtaining an estimate prior to the job.

From start to finish Sean and his team at A-1 were incredibly professional and did an excellent job. Sean came to the house to discuss what we wanted done, answered all our questions without making us feel he was in a rush and gave us a reasonable quote. It wasn't the most expensive or the least, but fair. We were on a limited time frame and wanted to start the 8th of July. He and his team were there as scheduled on Monday morning and completed the job in four days. Through the entire process all the contractors that worked on our house were courteous to us and conscientious of our property keeping it clean. I would and have already recommended A-1 Roofing and Construction to my friends and neighbors.

I got an estimate immediately after my call it was detailed and outlined all the work and cost. The guys showed up early worked all day and got the job done in 2 days. They were courteous and professional cleaned up all nails and roofing material and replaced old skylights. I was very please and would highly recommend them.

The crew arrived at 7:30 - exactly on time. The windows were all out by 8:30! There was ample crew and by noon time all of the windows were in place. They then proceeded to wash all of the windows and even put the shades back up for me. Sean was here at the beginning to get things started and to make sure the crew knew which windows were being done. And again when they were through, he did a walk through, and made sure everything was up to grade. The windows are beautiful, and I couldn't ask for a faster, more efficient job! Yay, A-1 !

I got the original estimate in April, but had to wait for the equity loan to go through. Within days of getting that, Sean, the owner, contacted me, we settled on the shingle I wanted used, and the work was started that Thursday morning. His crew arrived at exactly 7 a.m. when he said they would and by 9 a.m. half of the slate on the roof was off! Despite the unbearable heat these last 3 days, the crew worked, taking a few short water breaks and a short lunch. The main roof was completed by mid afternoon of the second day, and the two porches were bared and the black layer of material applied. The "foreman" told me they would be back Sat. morning to finish. I had to leave for work at 7 and the two trucks were pulling up as I pulled out of the driveway! At 9 a.m. my friend came by to check on my dogs and she said all that was left was half of the back porch to do! When I got home at 1:45, the yard was cleaned up, the dumpster gone, and the roof looked great. I have been procrastinating for some time about doing this because as a single woman, I worried about not getting the right information, etc. Believe me, you can trust Sean and his staff. The estimate was right on, the work was done expertly, and it was done, in my eyes, on time and quickly. A great crew who were polite, and obviously hard workers.

Very goos experience! Sean was very punctual - came over and gave me a good estimate and was able to quickly move once we had agreed on a price. Crew did a great job with removal of existing materials, repair of the roof and quick installation of new materials. Would definitely recommend A-1!!! Only one very minor quibble - you may need to may sure your foundation plants are adequately covered before the crew shows up. I did have some minor damage to a few of my plants, probably due to the massive amount of shingles that had to come off my roof.

After surveying the problem, he said he needed a little time to come up with a plan and price. We never heard from him again. He did not even have the courtesy to call and say that he could not or would not handle the job.

We were thoroughly pleased with the work that was done on our roof. It looks great!! Sean's crew did a fine job, and cleaned up the entire area leaving it as though they were never there!! I would highly recommend A-1 Roofing to anyone that may need some work done. Sean is professional, reliable, knowledgeable, and his prices are very reasonable. You can't go wrong with A-1.

A1 was one of the local construction companies I contacted to get an estimate on rebuilding my front porch. On the morning I called them, I spoke with the owner of the company and he was at my house within an hour to look at the project and take measurements. While still at my home he contacted his painting team and a member of that team also came over to look at the project. The three of us discussed what I was looking to have done and the options I had as far as construction materials that were to be used in preparing the estimate. My main objective with the project was to retain the decorative materials that already existed (since the house is rather old) and rebuild the structure of the porch and stairs. They understood what I expected the end state to be, and prepared the written estimate accordingly (which I received later on that same day). I had received other estimates before A1’s and also contacted other companies (and received estimates) after. Once I was done receiving the estimates, I crunched all the numbers (which were all pretty much around the same) however A1 came in the lowest (500 dollars below the next lowest estimate). The reason why I chose A1 was not solely because they came in at the lowest price (even though it did help to confirm my decision), it was because of my initial interaction with them during the estimate process. They were the quickest to respond to my original solicitation and understood my need to retain the original decorative woodwork on my historic home. The work was scheduled to begin on a specific date - and at 7:00 am, my barking dogs awoke me to the A1 team prepping to start the day. I went outside and met the team and they explained what was to be done for the day. The team was professional and responsible (even cleaning up each day before leaving for the night). The work progressed each day (even on days when the weather was not it’s best for outdoor construction). Once the construction was done, I was asked to go over –everything- which I did and asked for a couple of ‘tweaks’ on things (which got immediately done). The painting part of the project started once the construction completed. Unfortunately, the painting started in the middle of May when it pretty much rained every other day for a couple of weeks. On dry days, the painting team was there sanding, caulking, and painting. Eventually, the sun came back out and the painting completed. On the final day, the painting team leader and the company owner met me at my home for a final review of the project. Everything looked spectacular and the experience was very gratifying.
