They always do everything possible. They told me that my stove was broken and past its prime. I agreed to have it replaced. On the brand new stove installed a part was not working. The technician called the manufacturer and argued with the manufacturer to send the part out quickly. There was a delay in receiving the part which was out of their control and an issued on the manufacturers end., All of the technicans knowlegable their prducts and everything about that. I appreciated that the technicians were concerned about my safety. They set up 2 heaters for me until the part arrived. They understood the severity of the situation and truly cared.

I called many companies and they were the first that answered my call. They dispatched a technician out very quickly and the heat was fixed by 2pm. Their customer service is the best. I can't say enough good things about them.

The experience with Phillips Plumbing & Mechanical was great. The owner was there for most of the work. It is his wife that deals with the office and she was great. They were clean and efficient and got it done. They told me about the system and what it would need in the future, so, no problems. There were two other fellows that worked for them and they were all great.

They contract with an organization that comes in and removes the old boiler and water heater. Then the plumbing team of about 5 came in and were well organized in their specific tasks they were doing. No confusion. Very professional and addressed any questions I had quickly and professionally. They had a carpet cleaning service come in to clean the stairs rug that may have got a little dirty. They also consulted with me on the intake and exhaust vents which was nice and they put them exactly where I wanted them. We also had questions about the heat the following evening and they sent out a technician to further review the system with us.
Description of Work: Replaced my boiler with a Alpine boiler 96% AFUE. They worked with me to get the boiler with the correct AFUE rating. Replaced my hot water tank with an Indirect tank. They pulled permit with town and lined up the town inspector. Helped me work with RISE and get the $1900 in rebates. The job was very well organized and very clean. The job took about 1.5 days.

Thank you (removed member name) for your wonderful comments. We pride ourselves on performing excellent work with no bother to our client. The most difficult thing we joke is " signing the check". Besides the" we coordinate everything attitude at Phillips", is our knowledge of 0% financing and rebates and extended warranties which we readily pass on to our clients. We offer 2 year top to bottom labor and material warranty. We are clean, professional and efficient. Addressing our price concern, we sharpen our pencil and charge according to our overhead. We pay our staff very well and it is evidenced by the obsessive quality workmanship and cleanliness. Enjoy your new system (removed member name), cost of heating your home will definitely decline. Team was very knowledgeable and professional. They were not the least expensive of the estimates I received for the project, but they seemed to have the most understanding of heating/plumbing systems. Receptionists that answered the phones and handled all the paperwork were very polite. They helped complete all my rebate forms as well.

Extremely nice office staff, very accommodation to my schedule.Very willing to help.Ryan was sent out to inspect my furnace. He was very professional and knowledgeable. They recommended my hot water tank be replaced, which I will have done soon.Ryan got back to me within 24 hours with a price quote, although high ,was very comparable to the work that needed to be done. They charge by the job,not by the hour ,which I did find nice especially for the jobs that run into problems and take more time.
Description of Work: My hot water tank was leaking so I called Phillips to have them look at it.They did an evaluation only, they also directed me to an Angies list coupon to defer my evaluation cost.A service which you do not see often.

I joined Angie's List specifically to find a competent service provider for my plumbing project. The woman who answered the phone was very nice and helpful and the visit by the plumber to do the estimate was prompt. However, it's been 2 full weeks and I have yet to receive the estimate, even after calling them 3 times. It makes me wonder how promptly and efficiently they'd handle the project should I award it to them. They won't get the chance.

My apologies (removed member name). John is the only estimator for the company which has been experiencing growth pains. We average 12-15 estimates a week . You should have received your estimate promptly. Yet all the work that we booked gets done promptly due to our great team of plumber/pipefitters. We have now changed our policy , partly due to your expressed concern, and now are limiting our estimates per week. I have sent a letter to you personally . Again my apologies. Linda Phillips

I called them because we had no heat and a leaking toilet. They dispatched Scott to our house right away ( I am a Diamond Club member which gives me priority service and discounts on some services- well worth it). Scott replaced the Taco Power Head and the heat came back on. I had him check one of our toilets which occasionally leaked at the base. He replaced the toilet supply line. The charge was $322.00 but I had a $52.00 coupon from them and a Diamond Club credit of $15.90 so the final cost was discounted to $254.10 I have had no problems since then. Scott has been the tech who has worked on our house on other occasions also. He is always on time, courteous, very knowledgeable and does an excellent job. He explains what is wrong and what the remedy is. Bernie has done work at our previous house. He does an excellent job also. I would definitely recommend Phillips Plumbing to anyone.

I had a minor emergency with my water heater/ heating unit in my condo complex that, sadly, required a totally new unit to be installed. The old one was past its warrantee and spouting rusty water out of the top in a slow stream. Coincidentally, a few other units in my complex all went at the same time, so I was able to compare experiences with the other owners. Phillips was more, but they did a great job. Quick, clean, and even came back later to check and see if the hot water temp was good enough or needed to be adjusted. The guys from phillips came first thing in the morning when they said they would. They gave me an estimate, which was about 400 more than the other two folks I talked to, but included the city permit and disposal of the old unit. Most importantly though was that they could take care of the job that day. They came in, took out the old unit and installed the new one while I was working from home in my bedroom. They left the place just like they found it, but with the new unit installed in about 6 hours(with the trip to city hall for the paperwork and a trip back to the warehouse to pick up the correct heating/water tank) Overall, it was about 15% more for phillips over the other guys I called. My neighbor had the same job done for about 2100, but they had to come back two times to fix some mistakes apparently. They didn't charge her, but she didn't have adequate hot water for two days. Bottom line. You pay a little more, but it gets done right the first time. Id use these folks again for sure.

The installation went well and was timely. The only thing we were disappointed about was that there was a government rebate for installing an energy efficient furnace that we didn't qualify for because of the model furnace we chose, which was suggested by Phillips. We would have hoped that they would be knowledgable able the types of furnaces that would qualify for the rebates and make suggestions accordingly. We had to have them come and repair leaking water from the furnace a few months after the installation, which they did for free.
Description of Work: We had just moved into a new home and our furnace died just before our move in date. Phillips was very dependable and put in a new furnace very quickly and efficiently. The staff is very friendly and explained everything thoroughly. The only thing we were disappointed about was that there was a government rebate for installing an energy efficient furnace that we didn't qualify for because of the model furnace we chose, which was suggested by Phillips. Generally ok; pls see comments above.
Description of Work: Phillips plumbing has been to our house three times over the past few years for various things. I've been satisfied with the quality of their work and their plumbers and staff are courteous and responsive. But, I think they need to re-think their "Straightforward Pricing" approach -- it's not very straightforward. The pricing template requires plumbers to force-fit custom work into broad categories that often bear little resemblance to the work actually performed. This causes confusion for the customer (and probably for the plumber as well) and obfuscates pricing more than it clarifies it. The customer would be better served by a simple breakout of parts vs. labor. On a recent visit, we we're charged $500 and "Categories" 1, 2 and 3 we're checked on the Phillips Straightforward pricing sheet. I asked the plumber to list the parts used for the work, and he, relunctantly, agreed to do this after I asked a few times. I looked up the parts online and applied a generous mark-up. With a generous mark-up, the parts would be $150 -- at the most. That leaves $350 in labor costs for 1 hour and 15 mins of work. That's a bit high. If you use Phillips, I would recommend you request breakout of parts vs. labor. You'll be in a better position to assess if you're getting value for the price.

I felt their prices were more then I thought were reasonable. They woman at the office was very strange she had to recite a poem to me which I thought was so silly but the plumber that came out did know what he was doing. He did know what he was doing. I was just dissatisfied with the price they charged.

Found a small leak in my hot water pipe in the early morning and called Phillips when I got to work to ask when someone could come out to repair the leak. I was given a time of 3:30 to 5:00 that afternoon. I arrived at my house at 3:20 and the truck was there waiting. The technicians gave an estimate and repaired the leak and were done within an hour. Both reps were professinal, polite, and answered all my questions. I had a $20 coupon that was applied to the final price of the job. They also gave me an estimate to have all the exposed pipes replaced if I were to decide to do that later. The house is about 40 years old and has older "M" type thin wall tubing. Very happy with the Phillips reps.

I purchased a small bathroom sink and faucet which I needed installed. I also needed to have the shut-off valves and the trap replaced. I had had one estimate for this installation and called Phillips Plumbing (401-781-4228) for a second estimate. The technician arrived promptly at the designated time and provided a considerably lower estimate than the one I had received previously. When he called in to the dispatcher, he was told to see if he could do the installation at that time instead of setting up a future appointment. I was very happy to have the job done so promptly, and I was extremely satisfied with the work that was done. I was pleased enough that I have already scheduled another job for them to do next week!

Description of Work: I called Phillips about a toilet valve that needed to be replaced. But I also had a defective water shutoff valve that was causing the toilet to run. Since this was in the attic, I called in help. Phillips came by and took a look. They gave me the pricing before they started work so I could approve or disapprove before they began. This is a consumer-friendly policy, and I will use Phillips again soon. They do charge a dispatch fee for your information.

Technician arrived promptly as promised, and did good fast work. There was some dirt and solder left that I had to clean up despite the fact that I asked him to be particularly clean and careful. The price was higher than I had hoped, but since it was emergency last-minute service, they kinda have you over the barrel. So it was excellent work, just not a bargain.
