The proposal process was thorough and everything was explained and provided on schedule with attentive follow-up. It was a better, more complete experience than I got from the other two proposals I solicited. Engineering checks were made regarding sufficient structure. No changes were needed to the proposal. The handoff to the installation team was professional. Everything was done on schedule and everything was explained. Questions were answered. We got it done on schedule so we did not waste any summer daylight. The engineering documentation provided upon installation was very thorough and made me feel I was definitely getting a utility-grade product. It has actually performed better than projected, and I have tracked its performance closely. The few questions I have had for the sales engineer since installation have been responded-to completely, honestly and in a timely way. I am a happy customer and have recommended NEC Solar to neighbors.

We interviewed a number of solar installation companies. Artie Crocker of NEC gave us the best explanation of our options given our particular conditions, and gave us the most confidence. Alex Purdue who oversaw the project was a jewel. He was immediately responsive to any questions we had and helped us with paperwork for incentives. It was the best experience weâ ve ever had in making home improvements.

After meeting with two other local solar companies, we decided to move forward with Newport Electric Construction (NEC) Solar for a number of reasons. First off, NEC Solar was proposing to install premium solar panels, racking, and inverters with a first-rate â  bumper to bumperâ  warranty. The total project cost for our system was competitively priced. Daryll was the sales/energy consultant that we initially met with. Before scheduling the solar consultation, he asked us a series of discovery questions that helped him create a custom design and financial proposal that would address our familyâ  s current and future energy needs. What really stuck with me during the entire process is that his presentation was more informative than anything. We never felt like we were being â  soldâ  during the entire process. Daryll was well versed with the state and federal incentives. He also showed up on the day of our installation to shadow our project and to say hello. In addition, Daryll brought us homemade stuffies and homemade limoncello! Once we signed on with NEC Solar, we were assigned a dedicated project manager named Mike who managed our project by communicating with town hall, National Grid, and the solar equipment company. In addition to providing us with the best equipment at a competitive price, NEC Solar connected us with RISE Engineering. RISE came out to our home and conducted a FREE home energy audit. I canâ t say enough about NEC Solar and itâ s representative Artie Crocker. Starting with Artie, he gave us the most careful and accurate projections of how the system would affect us financially and environmentally in both the short and long term. His recommendations were spot on for project size and placement of panels. We feel we were earnestly and professionally treated throughout. He a most personable and forthright gentleman to work with. Regarding the project itself, the work went smoothly and exactly as predicted, the workmen being cheerful, competent and quick. We are astonished at the almost immediate return on our investment, pleased that we have developed such a large credit balance in seemingly no time. I have referred Artie and NEC to two friends who have both engaged with them in solar projects. Best financial and environmental decision we ever made. *This Old House* is a Greek Revival, Cape Cod-style home built in 1825. So the duty of any project is to esteem the provenance while making the home efficient and livable. Sensitivity to her bones and aesthetics are a priority for this four-room 912 square foot abode. Artie and Alex and the entire team of NEC Solar went the complete distance to design, curate the best product combination, and execute a beautiful installation. This was all accomplished with the guidance of The Newton Upper Falls Historic Commission. The racking system was a special compact type that allowed for almost a total coverage of the southern-facing exposure of the roof. Two more microinverters were fitted on the back gable. The clean look was achieved with the Board*s request that the panels be *all black*. When the task was completed, it garnered considerable praise. With NEC do not hesitate to move forward with your solar desires, be it for an old home like mine, or a situation that may present unique challenges. They will work with whatever constraints you may be facing and patiently walk you through the process.

From Artie in sales to Mike (and his team) at installation - the NEC folks were first-rate. We could not be happier. The price was good - and the service was remarkable. We're recommending NEC Solar to everyone within earshot.

Professional, on time and overall great experience

I chose NEC because first, they are an established electrical contractor. My project was a gut rehab and I could tell from the get go that their experience in power and solar was what I needed. As a construction management consultant, I have hired many contractors and one gets a feel for thoroughness, professionalism, and capacity. NEC is the total package. From sales engineering, questions and scoping, pricing, knowing the intricacies of the industry, rebates, engineering, coordination with other contractors, installation of panels, tie ins, operations, and finally the amazing results of living off the grid. NEC made it happen for me. Their projections exceeded my expectations as did their performance. I would highly recommend them.

Recently added critter guards to our system (that option not offered in project options). NEC crew did a great job. Very professional and got the job done quickly.

I recently renovated a house down to the studs. This was a final project several months after home completion and how I wish the rest of the home rebuilding process had gone so smoothly. Throughout the process they kept us inform of what & when things were occur; they left place as they found it at the end of a work day and were friendly throughout the process.

NEC is really a top notch, highly professional outfit - they set the standard for professionalism in any type of business. From Artie, the "client partner", to Alex, the implementation point person, to the guys who did the actual installation work, to the guys coordinating the inspection, they were all nice people to do work with, highly responsive, and totally professional. We did hit some snags on the job because of materials delays from Tesla and the utility, but NEC handled each to the very best of their ability to accommodate me and to meet our needs within the constraints. I ask a lot of questions, and did so from start to finish, and I always got detailed, thorough and timely responses, even when I got into the weeds a bit - they never got irritated or frustrated! They were also very fair in dealing with financial issues that came up. And the quality of the workmanship was awesome - everything was neat, and when they cleaned up after the finished the work, things were cleaner and neater than before they got there! They really know their solar and electric and they worked to put together a solution including panels and batteries that really worked for our needs and was most financially advantageous for us. I'd recommend them without hesitation!

My husband and I are thrilled to have "gone solar" with NEC! It was a pleasure working with Artie. He took the time to understand our needs, patiently walking us through all the details and options. His efforts to help us to find the most aesthetically pleasing and functional layout for the panels on our roof were especially appreciated. Alex diligently managed the project. I had no idea how much was involved in having solar installed! Utility paperwork, building permits, structural analysis, SMART program paperwork, etc. But Alex stayed on top of everything for us. When it came to having the panels added to our house, there are several highlights for me. The installers willingly put in extra effort, at my request, to run wiring through attic spaces instead of outside. Their work looks fantastic! After getting a system myself, I've noticed other solar installations in town that used aluminum-colored rails that stick out past the solar panels. NEC, on the other hand, used all black rails with end caps to provide a nice clean look. I appreciate the attention to detail.

Artie Crocker and Alex Purdue are the sales engineer and project manager respectively and they delivered a high quality system and answered all my questions in an easy to understand manner throughout the whole process. That the project was finished weeks ahead of schedule, attests to their commitment to go well beyond customer expectations.

Artie was understands the technology and explains it very well. Alex and the installation team were responsive, competent, and thorough. They are very easy to work with.

The whole NEC Solar process was wonderful, and we couldn't be happier with the finished product! From the start, they worked with us patiently to meet our unique needs, explain and simplify the process, and minimize expenses. The whole team, from Liz to the project manager and electricians, communicated well and worked neatly and efficiently. Gratefully, NEC Solar coordinated with the utility company, town, and the state to take care of turning on the system, tax credits, rebates, etc. Now we have a gorgeous system turning photons into usable electricity!

NEC-Solar is a great company; I highly recommend them. They installed solar panels on my house in Dec 2020, and I have contracted with their sister company NEC-Electric to have heat pump A/C and heating installed soon. I have had extensive dealings with their two estimators and our project manager and they have all been extremely responsive, knowledgeable, friendly, considerate, and have always done what they said, on time. The crew that put the panels on the roof and did the wiring were a happy bunch, joking with each other and careful to ask my opinion on the aesthetics of wiring and equipment placement. NEC has a great corporate culture. I have had many solar proposals done for my house, and, the points I noticed that differentiates them are: Will the company be around to fix any problems? If you look at the map of NECs installations on their website, they clearly are a pretty big company that should be around for the long haul. You want the inverters to be warranted the same 25 years as the panels. How much paperwork will you have to do (in NECs case I read a 3-page contract and did two or three DocuSign sessions to the extent of about 20 mouse clicks). My part of the paperwork was minimal. If you need a loan, what is the interest rate? If you sell your house, is the loan transferable to the new owner? There are companies that offer special solar loans because the risk of default is low. Not having an electric bill (on average) pays these loans. NEC told me they would find me such a loan if I needed it. Over the past 10 years, I have had at least 3 solar companies knock on my door (and NEC was not one of them). I have invited all of them in, listened to their spiel, and looked over their proposals. One exaggerated the financial benefits to the point of lying. The loan being offered is sometimes high interest. Any offer to put panels on your roof at no cost to you is accurate, but you never own the panels and will continue paying an electric bill (which is smaller than without the panels). No-cost panels are almost a scam; you are far better off owning the panels. I always came away with a bunch of scribbled notes and little understanding of the finances and I had a hard time finding reviews of the companies. I would always ask for a year-by-year spreadsheet, and never got one. By contrast, NECs estimator led off with a spreadsheet showing my panels would pay for themselves in 7 years and I would be $43,000 ahead at 25 years. This was based on electric company rates going up at 4% a year. I checked that out and it was accurate as far as I could find data. NEC gave me an honest picture of solar panels as a financial investment, and it is a no-brainer good one. Also, you can find articles saying that solar panels raise house values by an average 4.5%. My goal is to get my household as close to net-carbon neutral as I can. I already have an electric heat pump water heater. Ià ¢à à m getting heat pump heating soon. With a few more panels, electric cars and a battery, we would get there. The surprise is that I will make money doing it.

I loved that the sales team did not blow smoke. They were great at listening to what I wanted and everything I had understood from researching on my own was corroborated by their team. They also taught me a lot about the sizing of a system. They were great to work with and I wish all contractors were like this.

After receiving several quotes for Solar I decided to go with NEC Solar. NEC was very professional and thorough not only with explaining the process to purchase/install Solar but also the incentives that I'd be eligible for to maximize my investment. NEC exceeded expectations with their excellent communication, attention to detail and professionalism. Taylor, Alex and the rest of the NEC Solar Team was great to work with and I'd recommend them to anyone looking to purchase solar.

It is 1 year to the day that my system was turned on with Eversource and I am 1,000% pleased with how everything has turned out. I purposely waited the 1 year to make sure this review was thoughtful and thorough. When I reached out to NEC Solar I made sure they knew what was important to me, my two biggest concerns were leaks in my roof and the visual nature of the system (how the runs would look on the outside of my house). Artie, Meghan, Sean and team exceeded my expectations. They took the time to listen to what was important to me, spent time at my house looking at the installation site (before the contract was signed) and made recommendations/suggestions on how best to do this so my goals would be achieved. Artie is the salesman, he spent time designing a system that would meet my energy production goals, explained the pros and cons of various choices and guided me in my solar journey. Meghan is the PM and set the expectations on timeline, process, etc. She was spot on and communicated every step of the way I could not ask for anything more. Sean ran the installation crew, they were on time, courteous and cleaned up after they were done. The crew joked with my kids and explained what they were doing them, teaching them along the way. 365 New England days later, many a snowstorms, 70 mile hour winds, tons of rain storms and I am happy to report, no leaks and the system is producing more energy than expected. I am happy to speak to anyone that wants to talk about working with NEC Solar. I am thrilled I chose them as my installer and the quality of the work cannot be beat. You will not be disappointed when you work with NEC Solar.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with NEC. From the initial engagement through to when our system became operational, everyone that we interacted with was professional, responsive, and overall great. I would highly recommend NEC for any future solar projects.

Great experience from design, through contract to installation. I had recently completed an extensive renovation to my home so I was equally concerned with price, performance AND look of a new solar system. I did an internet search and found NEC Solar had strong reviews. Artie, from NEC did a 3D model with thermal imaging of my property and roofline. We went through multiple discussions to determine the proper quantity and location of solar panels to meet my current power needs and that of my recently purchased EV. Artie informed me of solar incentives available in RI, made timely application and saved me $7000 in addition to the federal tax credits. Once Artie provided a competitive quote, Meg took over as the project lead for installation planning and permitting. Upon the permitting and utility applications completion, an installation team arrived and coordinated with me the placement of panels on multiple roof surfaces. I felt from beginning to end, I was able to influence the project to meet my high expectations. The end result is a solar array that looks great on my home. I couldnâ t be more pleased.
