They were recommended, and I was told...David Horner knows dry basements. So true. I got 3 estimates, but this was the proposal that was well thought out, complete, and explained very well. Yes, it was more expensive, but the proposal was a lot more work, and we were doubling our usable house square footage with this solution! And it has worked out very well indeed. We downsized to 1/4 of our large home, so usable space in the basement was critical. Not only did we get the storage we expected, but it ended up being usable space for a sewing area, office space, and a TV lounge area. Our tiny home is now spacious, with plenty of storage area. The basement is extremely comfortable. With the mold remediation and basement cleanup, there are no "basement odors", and my allergies don't act up at all. Air quality is as good, or better, than the main floor of the house. During recent heavy rains, I heard the sump pump go on a few times as I was sewing downstairs, but the cement walls and floor were totally dry, and the only way I knew it was on was the slight "hum" as it worked then quickly shut off. As recommended, we are running a dehumidifier that conveniently empties into the sump pump drainage. Once the estimate was accepted, we were able to get on their schedule within a couple of weeks. On the first day, two truckloads of workers arrived on time, politely introduced themselves, and got to work. As warned, they did kick up dust, but they cleaned up after themselves very well indeed. Amazing, actually. The work took a couple of days, and I was kept informed during the process. When completed, David came back to walk though and explain the units, etc. Within a day, the basement humidity was nice and dry. Heck, it was great during the walkthrough, but David said to watch and it would improve even more. It did. We are grateful to David Horner, and our Basement Waterproofing Solutions professional work crew. Grateful...and THRILLED! When anyone comes to see our "new" old residence, we want to show off the basement. :-)
Description of Work: Waterproofed basement, using drainage, 2 sump pumps, with backup. Extra drain near the well pump. Did mold remediation, and powerwashed whole disgusting basement; painted cleaned-up concrete with kilz paint. So this job wasn't just basement waterproofing. It was also cleanup of all the past problems. In short -- a clean, comfortable, dry basement ready-to-go for storage and even living areas such as a sewing room, TV lounge, and office space. They didn't install extra electrical for the sump pumps/backups since our electrician was returning when they finished to add electrical outlets throughout the basement areas. So I don't know how their electrical work is for their systems....we didn't use them for that. David had excellent recommendations, even down to the basement paint color -- on his recommendation the white brightens up the place, since there only small windows, limiting natural light. With the air quality great, we can merge this area with our house HVAC system. Other estimate companies basically explained "this is what we do". David Horner did an analysis of our problems and situations, and proposed the best solution -- and explained it well. My husband now calls this our "industrial look" living areas.

Brent initially came out to look at the situation and provide a solution and an estimate. I signed up for the whole drainage system, but that evening did some research on my own regarding the problem and the proposed solution. I ended up deciding to forego the drainage system due to several structural factors. David Horner came out then to look at what was going on. He explained all my options, and had no problem with changing the job order to my specifications. I think I read on an earlier review that David gave some more/better insight than initially given by Brent, and I do have to agree. While both were very pleasant to work with, David had some ideas that made the job even smoother. I couldn't be more pleased with the work the crew did. They were quick and clean and professional. If I have problems crop up in the future, I will return to them!

They were fast and efficient, completing the job one day sooner than estimated. Everything was thoroughly cleaned and trash completely removed. The work was very neat and effective. No water or moisture has come in despite the heavy rains we have had since the work was done. It is wonderful to have a dry, fresh smelling basement.
Description of Work: Ave, the owner, was very easy to work with. The basement was in terrible condition due to flooding. It had a subfloor that was harboring water, mold and mushrooms. The men tackled the job with no complaints.
From the first meeting through the end of the job, I felt totally confident with BWS. When Brent came out to measure and estimate for the job, he was professional, and able to answer detailed questions about the job. Having a finished basement I knew it was going to be more intensive than if the basement was unfinished. They assured me that they would be able to cut the drywall on my finished exterior walls at 5" above the slab. This was amazing, as other companies told me they would have to cut 3' above the slab. When the crew showed up, they were courteous, and on time. The job lead walked me through what they would be doing that day and put me at ease. The immediately went to work setting up temporary plastic barriers to mitigate dust. I was very impressed with the attention they paid to keeping the dirt/dust to a minimum. The crew was able to complete the entire job in three days and I couldn't be happier. They left the basement immaculate and you can see the pride they take in their work. The owner stopped by to also make sure I was happy. I had a concern with ice and drainage of one of the sump-pumps into my driveway. He talked with me about it, and was able to come up with a perfect solution which addressed my concerns at no additional cost to me. After they left, I repaired the finish work to the basement. They did such great job, they made the refinish work so much easier. They cut the drywall on my finished walls so that I could cover seems with my existing baseboard. They expertly removed my existing trim and saved every piece. They cut my OSB sub floor very straight, allowing me to patch and repair it with ease. When I called my carpet installer to replace the carpet, he couldn't believe the care that was taken when the carpet was pulled back by BWS. No seems were split, and the pad was in perfect shape. Overall, my experience was stellar. I have other real estate properties in the area, and I will exclusively use BWS for any basement water issues.
Description of Work: Installed inside perimeter drain system, including: - 2 New Sump Pits/Pumps - 125 ft of pressure relief system - 2 Window Taps - 1 Speed drain at base of cellar entry stairs Additionally, the BWS parged the open block wall left by my basement stair installer.

The workers were on time, very efficient - all items in basement were covered (including the furnace and hot water tank) before starting the work. The owner checked to be sure that all was being done as presented. After the job was completed, the basement was cleaned and all debris removed. In 2013, we experienced a sewer drain leak in the basement. After it was repaired by our plumber, we called Basement Solutions to replace soiled vapor barrier. They promptly came, disinfected the area and flushed the drains to insure that there was no sewage present and replaced the vapor barrier. Very efficient and helpful.
Description of Work: pressure relief waterproofing system for entire basement; trench excavated; drains installed; 2 sump pumps installed; all areas finished with concrete after pipe installed; vapor barrier installed.

They were responsive and very professional. Had estimate done and they did the job the following week. Estimated 3 days. Took only 2. We thought that there would be a big mess but you would not have even known they were here --- except for the clean, dry basement!!! Dave and Brent were great! Worth every penny.

The crew arrived promptly and went right to work. Installation of the pumps, speed drain and window covers along with the biocide mold treatment took the majority of the day. The work area was cleaned upon completion and I was given an opportunity to inspect the work and ask appropriate questions. I noticed a small puddle in the basement about 2 weeks after job completion and Dave Hoerner, the company president, came out to the house to inspect the issue. The water was coming from the AC unit and he suggested I make a service call because the condensor pump appeared to be malfunctioning. Prior to his departure, he even looked at the outside AC unit to where the conduit was coming into the house and let me know there was a gap that should be insulated to avoid any water coming into the house from this entrance point. There have been multiple downpours since the installation of the waterproofing system and other than the AC unit malfunctioning, there have been no other water issues.
Description of Work: Installation of 2 sump pumps and speed drain in the basement. Also spot treated mold and installed 2 window covers.

BWS owner took a couple of months to get us an estimate but when we received it and accepted conditions, he scheduled us within 2 weeks. The workers were courteous and answered my questions. I did not hear any swearing or loud music. They discovered some faulty and dangerous wiring around our hot water heater but were knowledgeable enough to correct it or hire someone who could. They also disconnected and capped off an old electric outlet. While drilling into the floor. they hit a water pipe but they repaired it. This was all unanticipated work. The owner was on site a couple of times in a 3 day period. Owner called us to confer before he sent out the bill. A small amount ($ 125) was added to the estimate to cover extra work. I can't rate the effectiveness of the system yet because we have not had any major storms. Overall, we were very pleased!
Description of Work: Installed 86 feet of pressure relief waterproofing system and pump. We emptied our basement ahead of time as much as possible but they were able to pile the rest in the middle and cover it in a tarp. They also performed mold remediation and anti-microbial fog. They tore out wood siding and disposed all materials.

We did not settle with David as we had another comparable and competent bid we accepted. This bid would have been the one we used otherwise.

He is very professional and I know several people he has worked and they all spoke very, very highly of him and his services. His price is reasonable and he is well worth the money. Dave came to give me a quote and went over all details of what jobs could be done from the least amount to the middle of the road. I had no clue what to expect so i had my father there who knows about the process and he was very impressed with David which is saying a lot since he is a perfectionist. We informed him of my issues that just started after 15 years of living there and he explained options to us in depth. He was very knowledgable and walked me through the entire process. I scheduled the project and guys arrived as scheduled and did a nice job. They tried to protect the areas from dust as best they could. This work is very very dusty and labor intensive. The guys were very courtious and always willing to stop and walk me through what they were doing. If I had any questions, they would answer them in detail. There was a significant rain storm after they finished and I had no water issues. I would recommend Waterproofing Solutions to anyone, they were professional and hardworking. I am happy with the job.

Excellent process. I Emailed a diagram with measurements and a disciption or what I expected. The response was prompt and no unessasary sales pitch. I already had systems put in before and was aware of what was needed. The room was a apartment bedroom and I was concernd as to what was going to be visable after the job was done. After we had carpeting installed you didn't know the system was there. They didn't make the already cleaned apartment dirty and the didn't scratch up the walls and moldings while carring the debris out and the fill in. Also I appreciated not parking equitment on lawn area, I wont have to fix lawn in the spring.

I had 3 estimates set up. She gave me an extra 15% off because of something on the Angie's List website. She measured and inspected the entire basement and listened to my feedback which I thought was the most important because I know what the issue is that I am having. She was one of the lower estimates and I wanted somebody that would do the job right. She just happened to be the lowest. I saw a review where a guy used them 15 years ago and they came back to do repair work so that means they honor their warranty. She listened to me and was thorough in the inspection. I hired them because of their reputation and the fact that they stand behind their warranty. They were also very fair in price. I did have to contact them a few times.

I can now, today, after the massive rain storm we had over the last three days declare the project a complete and total success!!!! This storm dropped 8-9 inches of rain in my area (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151624821057714&set=a.411354077713.195091.56821412713&type=1&theater) and not one drop of water was on the basement floor. The previous storms, even light rain, was a 1-2 gallon job, removing the water from the basement. The storm is caused me to contact this company required 50+ gallons of water to be removed over three days. To review: Before Waterproofing 2-3 inches rainfall = 50+gallons in basement After Waterproofing 8-10 inches of rainfall = 0.00 gallons in basement Definately, a win for Basement Waterproofing Solutions......
Description of Work: The company dug trenches around the entire perimeter of the basement then laid pipes and gravel. At the same time, the company installed a sump pit and pump. Best of all, they moved and replaced the furnace equipment, boiler and shelves that were in the way. They were the neatest and most professional contractor I have ever dealt with.

Dave Harner gave me a price about $1000 less than his competitor and scheduled the work when I wanted it. BWS did a great job. Dave's crew was extremely hardworking, nice and polite. They worked quickly and finished in two days. The basement was a wet mess when they started, and now it looks great and the basement humidity is dropping each day. The guys even took away my broken concrete from another job without me asking, and cut an old oil pipe to use the hole for the sump pit outlet. I could not be happier with BWS and I strongly recommend them to anyone with basement water or moisture issues.

Mr. Horner was friendly, prompt, seemed knowledgeable on his subject, and was not at all pushy. Often I am treated as ignorant or feeble-minded or talked down to by tradesmen, because I am a woman, but this was not the case with Mr. Horner. The only problem has been communication. When I had not received my estimate by the end of the work week, I called, and it was emailed to me promptly. I emailed back a question, and received a phone message within 24 hours. I then emailed back a few more questions on the 21st, but still have not heard back from him. I noted other reviews saying much the same thing; BWS does need to improve on communication/follow-up. Perhaps business has been booming and he is swamped, but not having messages returned or questions answered will drive away future business.

Excellent job and results. Owner Mr David Horner was first to respond to request for estimate and visited personally. Kept first appointment and was punctual. Explained everything with no BS. Best price and flexible schedule. His men were quick, clean, honest, and very very hard workers. Job took three days and these guys are workers! These basement waterproofing jobs consist of jackhammering the concrete floor for a few feet in from the basement wall (whatever is necessary to clear the existing basement wall footer) for the new perforated drain pipe and waffleboard to be installed then repouring the concrete floor. The electric jackhammer is extremely noisy and the amount of dust and dirt created is unbelievable. While Mr Horner's crews will put up plastic to control the dust I stapled plastic to the ceiling and made a false wall to close in the work space, and made a plastic shrouded tunnel for the crew to carry the buckets of debris through the finished portion of the basement to the outside. A fan system is used to expel dusty air outside through a window. Extremely please with the water control results. Just placing the perforated pipe and waffleboard solved my water problem, the sump has remained dry through all storms to date. I did Thorocrete my walls to waterproof them. Had Mr Horner's Company place a riser from the new perforated pipe for me to install an active radon control system. Mr H knew what I wanted and it was done with no questions. Once I completed the radon piping and fan, that problem was also eliminated completely. Would heartily recommend you give Dave Horner a call if you need basement waterproofing services.

YAY!! No water!! Started by me calling BWS and speaking with David. Very friendly. He came out the next day to give me an estimate. From what I have been reading, from the other reviews, David should be the only one talking with the customers. He did inspect the inside and outside of the house before he offered any solutions. He asked for my email so he could email me an estimate. I had it an estimate in my email the next day. I let him know that I wanted to shop around a little before I commit. Really no need. All the other estimates 3 total and the people they sent out to do estimates were ridiculous. David did not try to hard sell me anything. He simply stated this is what you need to fix the problem and how much it'll cost to do it. It took me three weeks to get other estimates and to finally do what I should have done call David back and schedule the work. In between that time, nobody from BWS was calling me and hounding me to get the work done with them. At this point I was in a bit of a time crunch. We work from home and my other half was going to be out of town the following week. That is when I wanted to get the loud part of the work done. David made it happen. After I had to do a lot of prep work. Removing two sinks, a toilet, two rows of tiles from around the whole perimeter and getting the base board heat loose. They came in and immediately got to work. The only real gripe I have is they bent up my fins on the baseboard heat with the jack hammer and concrete that was sitting on top of it. But David gave me an additional discount for the trouble. They were in and out in two days. Very minimal mess and now we have a dry basement. Thank you BWS. Awesome job.

We received an in-home visit and estimate from Francie. She was knowledgeable and up-front with us. When we requested references we received them within a couple of days. After choosing them among 4 or 5 others (because of their reputation, the comfort we felt with Francie, the price, etc.) they got us on the schedule a few weeks out. The workers came, did a good job covering things up to minimize the dust and working hard all day. Their work looks good and so far, with a few heavy rains under our belt, everything has been perfectly bone dry. We did contact Dave, for a minor mix-up, and he got back to us in a day or two and then came out personally to rectify it. He obviously takes a lot of pride in his company. Would definitely recommend BWS to others.
Description of Work: BWS performed water-proofing, sump pump installation and mold-remediation in our basement. Overall, they did a really good job at a good price. From start to finish they were friendly, courteous and respectful of us and our home. The work consisted of breaking up our subfloor around the basement perimeter, installing their water removal system (pipes, gravel, etc.), putting in a new sump pump, spraying for mold/fungus around the basement walls. Pros: - Did really good work - Did it in about 2 days - Did it for a good price (the best of the 4 or so we had estimate) - Didn't try and BS us - Corrected their mistakes (more on that below) Cons: - the work crew can't answer a lot of questions - sometimes a communication breakdown because of the above
