This was my first experience with a handyman and as long as Reliable Handyman Services is around, I will be using them. The job was completed in three days, and the only reason it took three is that the paint I supplied them was bad so I asked them to come back on the third day and they did. They did not give me a hard time, in fact, the painter was more than willing to return. We bought two kitchen cabinets from IKEA and, for the most part, everything was going smoothly. But once we got to hanging the microwave I knew I was in over my head. I called Reliable and Don came out a few days later to give me an estimate. The price was fair and I even got a discount for using Angie's List. On the first day the electrician came to the house at 7:30am so we could meet him before leaving for work. This was very helpful to us. Everyone at Reliable was very nice as well, and didn't mind working around our 85 lb dog, Samson. One of the employees even played with him. I was told all of the workers are actually employees, so they even have electricians on staff, instead of using different subs all of the time. They hung the microwave, but perhaps more importantly, they ran the electrical wire from our basement all the way to the kitchen far corner, and you can't even tell. They had to pull the baseboards off and run the line through a lot of rooms and it looks the same as before. They cleaned up everything, painted, and sanded. We also had them put up two towel bars and a mirror while they waited for things to dry. No extra charge for the work, since we were already paying for them to be there for the cabinets and microwave. I prefer email and Joe (the boss) was very responsive. I'm sure I will contact RHS again in the future.

The guy that came out was a little late. The price I thought was a little high. He said he had a back problem so he kept stopping - taking breaks, & talking on the phone. It took over 3 hours & was only about 85% done when I him go.

They guy was on time. He was professional, and he was pretty efficient. The quality of their work met my expectation.

This involved different workers but they were all punctual, efficient, and clean. Their work was top notch. If I have one complaint, it is that it is very hard to reach them and their communication with each other is not the best. If I were looking for a single job I don't think this would have been an issue but twice I took off from work based on what I was told to be home for the work and found out either the worker could not make it or I did not have to be there. Even with this issue, I give them a thumbs up.

The handyman dispatched out to the property was on the grounds for maybe 30 minutes evaluating the job. I was therefore very surprised to find out later that it took him 2.5 hours to cut a piece of exterior trim and paint it. Then I was asked to pay for additional time to complete the work. Unless he was painting with a toothpick, its hard to believe that it took him that long to complete this very modest amount of work. It seemed suspicious to me and I was more suspicious because I could not get his boss to send me a formal bid for completing the rest of the work. I was not going to 'pay as you go', considering how long it took to cut and paint a few bits of wood. The only reason I didn't give this company an "F" is that the guy sent out to do the work was friendly and punctual.

Excellent experience overall. The handyman was very polite, friendly, knowledgable and professional. He was able to move very quickly and performed the work faster than the instructions estimated for completion. He took his time to show me issues that could arise in the future and asked for more details when appropriate. He explained what he was doing and why he was doing it. I would highly recommend this service.

Unfortunately, they never showed up or called to cancel. UPDATE: I just happened to read the company's response to my review and it's silly. We made an appointment, and they never showed up, nor did they call or email to change it, or follow up with explanation or apology. That's pretty simple. It's not the end of the world but it did happen in my case.

I got a very quick response to my telephone call. Joe set me up with the 3 hour special for $119. He confirmed everything in an e mail that included an estimate of the job. Leo, who was assigned the job, called me the day before the appointment to get an idea of what he would be doing and needed to bring. Leo arrived promptly and set to work. He worked very thoroughly and and did not waste any time. I realized I could have had him do more projects but I had been too sick to plan for them. I was very pleased with how Leo responded so positively to any small project I pointed out. He tackled them all including patching up some wall board, patching up the wood around my back door, securing the fence panels, carrying down and hanging pictures. He worked quickly and I felt totally satisfied even though we were done before 3 hours was up.

He reported that the people were great to deal with on phone and in person. They were professional and did quality work. They even went a little over the time I prepaid for and didn't charge him the difference. I highly recommend them.

This whole experience turned out to be a nightmare. The handyman was scheduled to come on a day when it was a bit icy so he canceled on his own with a comment of "it's not worth me getting up on a ladder for the $25 they pay me". That was more than I wanted to hear. He could have headed out and done some other jobs I had and then done the outside work when things cleared up outside as that was what the forecast predicted. I had paid for a 3 hour service. The reschedule should have been a call from the company and it never came. I waited three days and finally called and emailed. After another two emails I heard from the owner, apparently the phone number had changed. We recheduled for another day. It is again icy but the handyman shows a half hour late. After that, things changed. The work was well done. The worker was very polite. He did more than I expected him to do in terms of spackling one room. I was pleased with the work he did.

Not only did he achieve all items that I needed him to complete he also was able to fix items that he discovered.

Purchased Angie's List Big Deal for 119 ; needed to have pre.purchased door installed. Arrived late however did call ahead to let me know was running late. Hung door with no issues and fixed hanging light in dining room.

I made two attempts to use him for 3 hours of work with no results. I am not going to be using him again in the future.

Leo arrived promtly and was super fast in getting everything on our list done. We actually had time to run to the hardware store and have him replace our outdoor light. I only wish I had been more prepared, he would have been able to get even more work done! I will definitely use them again in the future.

Like most old houses, my basement is cramped and has some scary old plumbing so, while the concept of relating a laundry tub, washer, and dryer sounds simple, it really is not. Brandon (plumbing expert) arrived on time and evaluated the situation with me. He was willing to offer various solutions but sure to point out the "right" way in which the work should be done. Normally I go for the "right" solution but I was a little concerned that it would translate into significantly more work and $$ so I was willing to short-cut it a little and Brandon was accommodating. Given the close quarters and need to move heavy laundry equipment, Brandon called in Stevie (carpenter) to assist and help with some minor carpentry work (laundry tub platform) that was necessary to make the plumbing work properly. Both Brandon and Stevie were efficient and did quality work. I was very pleased with the results and so happy to finally have a laundry tub that drained properly and a washer relocated to a place where it wouldn't "walk" around the basement and rattle on metal steam pipes. This is my second great experience with Reliable Handyman and I definitely would not hesitate to call them again.

These guys are great. Very responsive and reasonably priced. They are accommodating to my schedule and I have hired them since then often for odd jobs. 11/15/2012 - I had a kitchen counter top that I purchased from a local hardware store chain. Prior to the install this hardware store chain sent out an installer to do a final 'template' measurement and it was determined that all my base cabinets were not level. Reliable sent out a guy and was able to complete the leveling quickly so that I could make the new date set by counter top installers. At one point I had to call Reliable back in to install and additional outlet and they did that.. all very quickly and easily. Just recently 2/1/2013 I used them to install crown molding in our bedroom... very quick easy and again reasonably priced.

Very Poor Customer server. 1/11- Purchased the $119.00 or 3 hours of Handyman service from this site. Call the owner Joe to discuss what i need to be done. He sends me back a quote, and we schedule a appt for 8:30 on 1/22. 1/22- After I arrange to work from home that day, and clear out the bathrooms and backyard for him to work, I get a call from the tech (Ed) at 9:30 AM. Tells me he has a flat with no spare, and will have to re-schedule the appt. Did not receive a single email, phone call, apology, did not even ask me to reschedule. 1/28- Decide to let it go, and try to reschedule the tech (Ed) to come to my house again. We set a time for 2/1 at 8:30. 1/31-Get a confirmation email from the company (Ed is cc'd) that he will be at my house tomorrow 2/1 at 8:30. 2/1- I arrange to work from home that day, and clear out the bathrooms and backyard for him to work (Again), I get a call from the tech (Ed) at 8:30. Ed was very rude, told me that he has a Doctor appt scheduled, and cannot make it. Told me Joe (owner) should have never scheduled it in the first place. Rude and un-apologetic... Called Joe (owner) spoke to someone else, told them the situation, and that I was very unhappy, and would need to speak to him ASAP. 4 Hours later not a single response from Joe. Very, very poor customer service. And a poor way to run a business. Getting a refund from Angies list, and will never do business with this company... It's a shame in the economy when people need work more than ever, that companies still behave like this.

Reliable Handyman Services were professional, prompt, and the person who came was prepared to do the work. The only thing that I will know for next time was that I did one of their specials where you pay for 3 hours of handyman services. I knew I had more work than that and so I told them that when I was scheduling and she said "O.K," but when the handyman came he wasn't prepared to work more than 3 hours at a time. So when you call them you have to plan your visits in 3 hour periods.

I called the office on Wednesday afternoon requesting help with my projects. They took down my information and told me that Joe would call me in the morning to schedule me and confirm pricing and resources. The next day, Joe called me first thing in the morning, got me scheduled for that Friday morning and sent an invoice. On Friday morning, Leo and Frank showed up and got right to work. Of particular note, they moved a very heavy piece of furniture from the lower level to the upper level, up several steps and got it placed for me without any damage to the furniture, exterior or interior doors/walls, or my very delicate wood floor. Any debris resulting from the move was quickly and efficiently cleaned up without hesitation. After the main project had been handled, they helped with some odds and ends with the same energy, effort and care. Overall, a positive experience. They were punctual, professional and took good care of my personal property. I would certainly consider using both Leo and Frank for projects of similar or greater scope.

I used their 3 hour $119 special. Bob(not the owner) showed up on time and worked for 3 hours repairing a storm door and caulking several windows for me. No complaints. You can't beat this $119 deal.

He was very friendly and polite but rather difficult to schedule an appointment. I work in the school system so after several tries to set up a meeting I tried to schedule something during Christmas Break, but I never heard back from him. I ended up enlisting the help of Angie's List to find another company to do the work.

The second part of my job was horrible. It was okay to have him come and do some light handyman services, but when I tried to get something more....that is when the problems started. For two weeks I made a dozen phone calls and a dozen emails to the owner. I could not get an answer on cost or timing. They would not even explain how they charged and answers I eventually got were different. I was so frustrated with the owner, but I really liked the carpenter that was going to come and do the work so I was willing to stick it out. When it was finally set for the carpenter to come he called the night before to cancel! He rescheduled twice more and canceled twice more. That is when I let him go. I will not be bothering with this company anymore...

Reliable Handyman Service was amazing to work with. They set a date, emailed me to confirm the date, arrived on time, completed the job perfectly and even did extra work for me. I will never use another handyman service again!
