On June 1, 2015 I met with Mr. Jim Kenny from Don Farr Moving and Storage. Jim was very nice and professional during out walkthrough. He gave us a reasonable estimate on what the cost would be for our move. He explained how the men would shrink wrap our furniture to prevent scratches/damages and the job would consist of four movers. I signed the agreement stating there would be no additional charge for shrink wrapping our items. The estimate was for 1,750-2,100 or 175.00 per hour. June 19, 2015 was our moving date. Five men arrived with one Penske truck and a minivan. These movers arrived looking very unprofessional. None of them had identification on their person stating they were from Don Farr. Had it not been for the agreement I had to sign, I wouldn?t have known who they were. They were beyond disheveled looking. It looked as if they rolled out of bed in clothes they had worn for days. The one young man?s eyes were so blood shot that he kept asking me for eye drops. His speech was so slurred I had to ask him repeat himself often. Their language was offensive and their conversations were wildly inappropriate. I would have fired them on the spot but we were stuck at this point as we were closing on both houses that afternoon. Once inside I walked around to each room showing them what had to be done. We explained in great detail that our dining room set was the most expensive piece of furniture we own and we want extra care taken when moving it. We were often told by these men ?it?s good? when we explained how items should be handled. While they were working we were cleaning and loading fragile items in our cars. Upon arrival at our new home, we were left to sit outside while the other moving company was finishing up. Our guys decided to take a lunch break and sat outside in the grass while waiting or in the van. Once of the men notice the Parks United moving van and started shouting ?f*** Parks?you suck?f*** them guys?. I was so embarrassed by what was happening but I was also nervous to say anything. I didn?t want them to get mad and deliberately ruin my furniture. We tried to be as cordial as possible because it was such a stressful day to begin with. The movers then started unloading items in our house and were instructed to place all boxes in the center of the rooms and furniture in the rooms but not against the walls. We had painters finishing up in some of the bedrooms. All boxes were labeled by colored coded and clearly marked in large font which rooms they were to be placed in. The only furniture that was placed into the right rooms were the dining room and the master bedroom furniture. All other boxes and furniture was just thrown wherever they dropped it. We had to call friends and relatives over to help us move boxes and furniture around the next day. Isn?t this what we paid Don Farr for????? The worst part of this horrendous move was when I noticed my dining bureau later that night. It looked as if someone took a knife and carved deep scratches on it. The movers tried to cover it up by placing the curio cabinet at an angle to cover the damages. The master bed was never put together because when the movers took it apart, they broke screws off in the bed that can?t be removed. Not to mention some of the parts were missing. Don Farr sent some men out to our home on July 7th to see if they could assemble the bed, but they were unable due to the nature of how it was taken apart. My mattress and box springs are still on the floor of my bedroom because I have no bed frame. In addition, we also had an entertainment center that was damaged. We didn?t include that in the claim as it was inexpensive furniture and we felt a repair wouldn?t be necessary. The claim process for the company is listed online and we activated it right away. Sara Phares is the contact person for the claims department. I called and spoke with her about the move several times. I was patiently waiting through this claims process so every week I called to see the status of my claim. Understanding that Sara has a tough job as she deals with upset customers, I was polite in my interactions with her. I didn?t even voice my frustration over her not returning phone calls or most of my emails. On July 13th, Sara explained that I would be receiving a claim number by postcard in the mail sometime that week. After several days and no postcard, I called Sara again and she informed me that she had ?54 claims out and I wasn?t a priority?. Sleeping on mattresses on my floor wasn?t a concern for her because she has ?customers with missing furniture and some with no couches?. I of course questioned how a company could be run with such incompetence and she agreed. She later said two of our ?crew? had been fired since our move. She also went on about other crew members who have been fired for inappropriate behavior on the job. That didn?t make me feel any better. She said ?these things happen and you should have known that?. When I voiced more concerns her scripted response over and over again was ?I?m sorry you feel that way?. I asked to speak with her boss and she said she didn?t have one. After the run around she said I need to ask for Dave F (no last name). I was transferred to a bogus voice mail and left message but no calls were returned from David F. On July 30th I still hadn?t received a postcard and phone calls to Sara were again not being returned. I called and asked to speak with someone who could help. The woman who answered told me my claim had been settled. What??? Settled??? I didn?t even know what that means? According to their website once I receive the post card with my claim number, someone would contact me to arrange a visit to inspect the furniture. The incredibly rude woman on the phone was getting so upset with me because I was questioning how I could get a check for damages without anyone looking at my furniture. All they had to go on was the pictures I sent form my phone. She told me I would be getting a check in the next few days and if I didn?t like it I could refute the claim. I couldn?t believe they would write a check for damages they didn?t even see. Once again days go by and no check has arrived. I called Sara and she said I would be getting it soon and I ?needed to just wait?. I went through my same line of questions about how this process and she said ?my manager didn?t agree with me and said to just settle you?. She said they assess the damages to be .60 per pound. I was told to estimate the total pound of my furniture on my initial claim. Since I?m not in the furniture or moving business and do not work at an amusement park, how was I supposed to guess the weight of the furniture?? Someone from their company should come out and weigh the pieces before a check is issued. On August 7th I finally received a check for 114.00. I have done some research on how much I can expect to pay to get my furniture refinished and its well over 114.00. Not to mention the cost of a new bed. I will be taking legal action against the Don Farr for damages received during the move to my bed and dining bureau.

They were fine. They did break a few pieces and we have some white furniture that they didn't really protect and it got dirty. The main thing was, they told us originally it would be a two day move. When they got there they said they could do it one day. So that's what we planned on. Then it's the end of the day the first day and then they said they couldn't do it and we had no place to sleep because they had packed up all of our furniture.

We were moving from a duplex to a home we just purchased. They quoted us half of what the popular local moving company quoted. 3 movers arrived on time and they worked diligently barely stopping for a break. They moved everything from our 2 bedroom duplex into our new home within 3 hours. We were originally quoted for 5 hrs, so it was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely use them again

Although the man in charge was very nice and did a great job, one of the other movers was not careful with the furniture, and I am still finding scratches and dents. The front of the refrigerator was dented in two places, several pieces of furniture were scratched, washing machine dial was broken, and cost over 200.00 to replace. How could so much damage take place during a move that was less than two miles?

The only issue I had with this service was that they lost my Dyson Vacuum amidst some repacking of a truck. They have offered to pay to replace it. Otherwise I was very satisfied with their services. They had 6 people pack up my things and load everything up, but only two people to drive and unpack. It took those two gentleman about 10 hours, but they were extremely hardworking, diligent, and polite. They were very conscienscious about the items being moved and careful to not do any damage to my things.

Horrible! The movers did more damage to my furniture and home than the entire move cost. This was the third time that this company has moved myfurniture; the first time was an interstate move to Florida, when they damaged only one item and paid me promptly for the damage. The second move was also a 2-mile local move where they paid $400.00 for damages to a $7,500 dining room suite. The third and last move they made for me included extensive damage to two homes and almost every piece of furniture they moved. They have refused to make any payments this time for any damage, I have disputed my Citibank charges on this last move. I attribute these damages to their using young, inexperienced movers for low wages. Don Farr's Damage Form was too small to include all of the damage done, so I included a detailed letter to the claims department: Two weeks after sending this letter to Don Farr Moving and receiving no reply I discovered that the movers broke in half along plate glass top on my coffee table and hid it in the garage so no one would see it, as well as a large gouge in the same coffee table which was deliberately placed next to a sofa so that it would not be detected. The movers came ready to work. We emptied the house, storage unit, and the movers then unloaded the trucks taking every box to the designated room. Nothing was damaged. It was 90 degrees and humid. Of the four men working, two of them were excellent, one was very good but he took a few more breaks, and one was having problems with the heat, truely not feeling well but he did what he could. My family and I helped as best we could and I set out lunch and cold drinks for all. Overall I was impressed. These men put in a long day. They arrived on time (9:00 AM) and worked through until 5:30 PM. We enjoyed their dedication to detail, and the way they all worked together. I would recommend them most highly. I will always call Donn Farr first for any moving need. I am very happy in my new home and moving in was an enjoyable experience. I am glad we did business with the company. Angies List was very helpful in guiding us to make the call. Thank you everyone.

Move was quoted as a one-day move. Move took 3 days instead. They quit unpacking at 9 pm saying they were done for the day. They were moving my friend (not me) into his apartment. He had no place to sleep as they said the truck was going into their storage for the weekend and really didn't care.

The crew showed up 10 minutes before when we were expecting them, which follows my rule if, "if you're on time, you're late." They worked extremely efficiently as they shrink wrapped all of my couches. They said that in order for the insurance to cover damages all couches, love seats, etc. should be shrink wrapped, so naturally, I had it completed. The crews worked extremely hard and the crew leader although not very personable, worked very hard and knew what he was doing. I could not imagine doing the work that these gentlemen do, and they pad and protect all furniture. I felt as though my home and belongings were being treated as though they were their own. When they got to my new house, we had all hardwood floors and white carpets. The movers put down pads and were extremely careful about protecting my floors. They brought along carpet protection as well! The move itself was easy and enjoyable. We just sat back and pointed. When booking it, we didn't know what to expect because the reviews are so back and forth, but truly if you want a good company that has years of experience, these are your guys.

Movers did great. VERY hardworking guys that knew their company sucked too. When I asked about this being the norm, they stated yep! Basically, this company was really nice till move day, then mgmt turns their back on you. This IDIOT actually told his movers to get my payment before they unloaded my stuff. He gonna hold my stuff ransom or something? What a clown. Use them at your discretion and maybe only if they are the last resort. Oh yeah, they pay these hard working young guys 9 to 12 bucks an hour and they charge 150 hour for 3 guys.... Go figure. Scoundrel mgmt!
Description of Work: Job Quoted for 4 men, 3 showed up. When I called, supervisor said he can't help when people call off. Total BS as its his responsibility to staff correctly. Guy on the phone was rude, crass, classless and ignorant to customer expectation. Typical of pay us and what ever service you get is what you get. The movers that showed were young, VERY hardworking good guys. They were sent to the job with not enough supplies for the full pack and move. When questioned (again on the phone with the company) the guy tries to put it off on the movers yet they are told what to bring for the job which was ON SIGHT QUOTED. This management just doesn't get it. They (Mgmt) don't accept any responsibility for anything.

Crew was punctual and efficient and generally very conscientious with property and furniture. This was homeowner paid, not a corporate move, as I had been used to in the past. It was a good job for the money, but it did not have the professionalism and appearance I had experienced with some of the National companies I used in the past. Except for the driver (lead mover), the crew was relatively inexperienced, but the driver supervised satisfactorily. The truck used was in poor condition and leaked oil on my driveway. I was a bit concerned at how some of the loose items were packed into the truck The furniture that was moved into my self storage was a bit rough handled, but there was no damage. It sounded like the crew was not well compensated by the company for all the work (manual labor) performed. Crew was very appreciative for the lunch and tip I provided them. Overall for the money paid and compared to the higher rates the other companies quoted, this was a good value. I think I would use this company again.

STAY AWAY! We called well in advance & explained that we had some heavy lifting required and were quoted $800. They sent 3 scrawny 16 year old kids who were so tired by the time they arrived at our new house, they were unable to complete the job so I had to basically move on my own. They then had the audacity to charge $450 more than they quoted. Called several times that day and afterwards but I was just given the run- around

Working with Don Farr moving was great. They provided me a quote over the phone and showed up a few minutes early on our scheduled move day. The provided a three man crew, who were friendly and worked quickly. No damage was done to our furniture and they placed everything in the rooms as directed. They even put together our beds. I would definitely use them again if I ever move in the future.

Positive they moved all our things with our breaking anything and put everything in its proper place and took things apart and put them back together. Negative They charged by the hour and slacked. We moved 1.5 miles down the road, 5 minute drive, but they charged 1 hr for driving. They also took 3 hrs longer than their estimate. Which, I don't understand because we actually had less furniture in the house than what was in the original estimate. If I knew it would take them that long I would have looked somewhere else.

We were very satisfied with our move with Don Farr. They were very responsive when I asked for a quote, someone came out, looked at our place and explained all my options. They even agreed to do our move on a Sunday. The truck arrived, an hour early! And the movers were very kind and flexible, especially since I hadn't gotten to packing one room yet. They were quick and efficient. They did miss a few things and did not do assembly but that's to be expected. They even came in under the quote so we saved money. We would definitely use them again.

It was horrible fiasco. Everything about them is horrible. I moved from an area which was 60 miles away and I used on tars. They are local here and when I brought a new house I knew not to use them. So I was a lot more cautious and inquisitive about the company to select. When I moved into this area I was in an apartment while I was looking for a house to buy. I had a deadline for arriving so that I could pick up the keys from a leasing office. So I made arrangements with the company what time they needed to show up for the whole thing so that I could be on time in the other end. They were late. They brought two trucks and the guys were complaining from the very beginning about the reason they were late was that one truck was not good and it go only 20 miles an hour. So the first truck had to pull over and had to keep waiting for the other truck to catch up. I asked them why it was slow and they said the motor was just shocked. So they were late and were wasting my money by sending me defective equipment. Also I had talked to them earlier and the guy who had come ot estimate for me told me what it would cost if they packed everything and what it would cost if I packed everything. So I packed every last order. So when they walked in they had to just move in the boxes in to the truck but they managed to cost more than the estimate saying they packed everything. As they were moving the very big old heavy furniture I asked them to make some arrangements to take it out but they said they were fine. The weight of some of my cabinets was heavy and they busted three file cabinets. They just fell apart from the weight and I was standing there telling them whether I needed them to check the doors out but they said they were fine. They refused to cover the cost of those because one part was it was broken and so they didn’t cover it. They broke the whole box and said that they wouldn’t cover because I packed it. They took an hour lunch which I had to pay for. They had the wrong address and they didn’t give me anybody’s cell phone number to call. Then they started to put the boxes all over and when I asked them to put the furniture in the place I wanted to as I couldn’t move it, the guy started screaming on my face without allowing me to speak. So I got the boss on the line and told them to fix it the way I wanted. Then they slowed down so that it cost me a way more than the estimate saying that they had packed everything for me. It was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. They charged more than the estimate and deliberately delayed the work to do that. They did not cover the breakages that they were responsible for. Their staff is rude and waste time. I would not use them again.

It was a hassle to get my dryer out of the house, he had to take the door off. I thought they went above and beyond in getting that taken care of. Nothing was broken and I had a lot of glass. They were prompt and showed up on time. They were patient while I had to run to the bank and were very nice about the whole situation. One of the bed frames was uneven and I wasn't able to fix it or fit my box spring in it, so I called them and they were so nice. They came out on a Sunday to fix it.
