I'm not even sure where to start with this review. The only reason this gets 2 stars is because Maxine in the office was amazing, and the first 3 guys were decently nice. We have been planning this move for a little over a year, with more details set a few months ago and locked down into specifics when we scheduled a month ago, to move 2 apartments into a townhouse. 3 men were sent for the move, and instantly complained about the heat and stairs to my apartment as soon as they arrived. They were not equipped for this move, physically or with equipment. They used my tools to disassemble most of my furniture, and we moved a lot of boxes to the front door, disassembled furniture ourselves, just to make the move quicker so they could move on to my boyfriend's apartment after taking 3 hours to empty a 2 bedroom apartment, even after recruiting my friends for help. We were also charged for 2 mattress bags and 3 mirror cartons, they did not use any mirror cartons (they taped my one mirror for transport, we moved all other ourselves the night before), and only used a bag on my mattress - my box spring was not bagged and is torn. They moved on to my boyfriend's apartment, which had a loading dock and elevator, while I moved on to the new place. My boyfriend and 2 of my friends were helping them the entire time, which still took almost 3 hours because they insisted on taking apart furniture we were throwing away, dumpster diving in the things thrown out from college students in the building, and 2 of the guys disappearing for over an hour while the 3rd was taking double dolly loads down to the truck. They finally show up to our new place, 6 hours after it started (for what was quoted to be a 5-7 hour move). They instantly started complaining again, were careless with boxes, being rude to my friends and boyfriend. One guy fell pulling up a box on a dolly, one repeatedly told us he was going to throw up (he actually ended up bleeding on my stairs). Halfway through unloading, they said that "help" was "maybe" being sent, which 1 was nasty, rude, hateful man who also was too old to be doing, and another who never set foot in the house, these guys by the way had just came off of a 9 hour move. He was yelling at the other 3 that they were arguing too much and taking so long, throwing my boxes upstairs (2 of which we have found so far are broken), yelled at me and my friends for how things were packed. I finally asked that they leave everything on the first floor so it would get done and they would leave, which they ignored. We were also told if the "help" and the older gentleman from the first group left, the business would close. They never took proper breaks, EXPECTED us to have cold drinks for them (water was available to refill their bottles at all locations, and Gatorade at the new place), and we fed them pizza. They were not physically equipped to do this move, I'm certain this violated several labor laws, caused damage, had horrendous customer service, and cost us over $1,000 and several hours over what we were quoted because they were so ill prepared. My boyfriend and I are both coming off of severe injuries, which is why we hired movers. I was also excited to support a local, family owned business. I had never heard of Don Farr before, and now I see why. I will be speaking to the office about our experience first thing on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday), correcting the $1,000 over charge, and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I wouldn't recommend hiring them to my worst enemy. Save yourself thousands, rent a U-Haul and hire their contracted movers.

The people who actually moved the furniture worked very hard and were easy to work with, but they did not have blankets or bubble wrap to protect some items. A painted side table got 2 big scrapes that cannot be repaired. I bought extra insurance before the move and filed a claim. It has been a hassle to get the claim paid. The person processing the claim said that they mailed it, but no one was home to receive it, so it was returned to the carrier. Despite requests, that person has not shared what mailing company is delivering the check or any tracking information that I can use to see when the check was mailed and when it might arrive, so I can be home. The claim processing person won't even tell me how much the check is for. The whole claim process feels very shady. I filed the claim in February and am still waiting to get it resolved. Based on this claim process, I discourage anyone from using Don Farr Moving.

Lots of damages due to 100% neglect by Farr workers who loaded/unloaded. Driver told us he "had to switch trucks during a severe storm and he unpacked and repacked all the boxes that were damaged". As a result, we aren't sure of lost/damaged items because many things were repacked differently. Piano bench was water damaged, heavy scratches to front of piano, 2 pole lamps broken, a Tiffany lamp broken, new power chain saw missing, blankets missing, oil heater damaged, my boxed wedding dress arrived unboxed and stuffed in a garbage bag, our boxed 34" smart tv arrived with no box. The list goes on.... i called right away, no response. They take your money asap, but do not respond. Paid $6,200 for 1 bedroom move from Pa to Fla. Filed a complaint, requesting $1,000 for replacement/repair of damaged/broken items. Received a check for $200 four months later.
Description of Work: Threw out damaged lamps, oil heater. Will have to replace blankets, Tiffany lamp, oil heater ( if needed). Will have to have piano refurbished, have wedding dress recleaned/boxed, purchase new pole chain saw.

Terrible service - Intentionally damaged majority of our furniture ($9,500 worth of damaged). The crew laughed the entire time that we could just file a claim. The claims department offered $485 to cover $9,500 which is a joke.

Writing on behalf of my parents who hired Don Farr from Angie's List. They seemed nice enough at first and asked my mom to complete an evaluation immediately upon delivery. This was before she had a chance to survey the damage they left behind. Essentially every piece of furniture was damaged. They took chunks out of the wall and door frame of their new apartment. My parents have an expensive clock that holds sentimental value to them and it is NO WHERE to be found. It is impossible to reach anyone on the phone for customer service issues - it goes directly to voicemail. I left a message with the claims department and who I believe to be the manager and also sent an e-mail. No response from anyone. My parents just want the clock back. They only care about getting money and have no respect for their customers and their property.

I highly recommend Don Farr movers. A representative came to our home to give us an estimate that was very reasonable and much lower than others. (One mover had my husband on the phone for hours as he moved from room to room describing what was to be moved!). When they picked our stuff up and weighed it, the estimate actually went down! They were consistently professional during the move and our furniture and other household goods were delivered in great condition. Six years before we had a nightmare of a move with Budget Movers which quoted us a cheap price over the phone and raised the cost 4X the original quote, plus they damaged a lot of furniture. Six years later, Farr Movers charged $5500 less for the same move.

Stay "Farr, Farr away from this company! I hate to even give 1 star but there is not an option for zero stars! Customer service does not exist. Extreme lack of communication, delivery schedule was not adhered to at all, movers were very rude and unprofessional. Damaged boxes of dishware, scratched furniture, bed pieces were scattered thru out the apartment, they didn't bother to put anything back together. Awful, awful, awful! DON'T DO IT!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I reached out to them for a quote and they immediately set me up for an in-home estimate. They tried to reach me to confirm the appointment, but I was in doctor appointments all day and could not respond. Since they couldn't get in touch with me they Googled my name, found the names of my family members, and called them to track me down. When I called, livid, they said that the information is public domain so they didn't do anything wrong. They literally tracked down my family members to hunt me down! What kind of company searches for potential customer's families, harasses them, and thinks it's ok?!

Our company is committed to our customers. Sometimes a phone number or email address may have a typo so we have learned to be as diligent as possible to make sure the move goes as smooth as possible from the first interaction till the last. Our team understands communication is key and our goal is to not miss a step. We apologize you have found our efforts offensive but again our goal was only to try to be as thorough as possible. IT WAS HORRIBLE! BEWARE! We needed to move out on a Monday and move into a new house 4 days later. I received 4 quotes from 4 companies. All were approximately the same. I chose Don Farr. Seriously among the worst decisions of my life. We moved 95% of our belongings to the garage to make things smoother/faster, as they told me this would reduce the amount of the time quoted. Instead, we had to pay for them to count boxes/inventory, which took 90 minutes. It took us less time to physically move everything to the garage from the upper 2 stories of the house. We also paid for their truck to break down and get to the house. They took a lot of breaks during the moving process. Allegedly they were unloading the items into a warehouse. I was charged for 8 hours on the truck, 8 hours off the truck and that was only half of my move (quoted 5.5 on/off by EVERYONE who quoted). Fast forward to moving into my house on Friday. Those guys busted their butt, actually put things in the correct rooms (instead of my garage like the easy job the loading crew had), rebuilt our bed frames, etc. Took them the actual 5.5 hours quoted. I was actually charged 8 on/8 off again. They said whatever the load time was for the move out was how I would be charged for the move in. That is not what I was told when I was quoted. To boot, I found out my items were never moved off of the truck in the first place, and therefore I was basically charged for 16 HOURS OF LABOR AT $275 AN HOUR THAT NEVER OCCURED. I tried to call their office about 5 times a week for a month but nobody would respond to me. I finally gave up because it was causing me so much stress to think about. I'm writing this months later because I've had 3 friends since then use other moving companies that were not Don Farr that had wonderful experiences, and saved $500-1000 from their quote, not paid the extra thousands that I did. I still have all of the paperwork for anyone who wants to see - original quotes, actual bills. STAY AWAY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

A team of 4 guys a truck and a van showed up on time, I signed the papers that they showed up and the nightmare began. We had mostly everything packed in boxes/totes but they would not take anything unless it was completely packed in a box securely and taped up. Well - I was never told EVERYTHING IN MY HOUSE Had tonne packaged up this way. Picture frames, carpets. Tables! They were refusing to take plant stands, tool boxes, carpets, air conditioners, boxes they did not think we're secure enough. They wanted to take the truck to the new place and I still had half a house of stuff to move and they still had room in their truck! Then they did not want to come back for q second trip. It was awful. I HAD to be out that day. I told the girl when she scarfed up the $500 in the first 2 minutes I talked to her. They reluctantly made another trip only after making sure another $500 went through. Then charged us more for travel and time. My girls worked harder loading furniture at times than their own crew. And I had another day of moving things they still didnt take which led into problems with the new tenants being held up a day moving in. Only when I saw the recipient did I see the name. DON FARR MOVING- They Mia represented themselves. They are riding the boat tails of be phone number of a previous moving company. That should not be allowed. They are cheats. Will steal your money, will lie just to get your business. I would stay FARR away from them. I would never recommend them
Description of Work: Moving 3br residence 20 miles. To be fair, it was short notice. Wecalled them with a 2 weeks notice, but that is when we found a place to move into, we couldn't move until we had a place to go. I explained we had 3br, had lived there for 5 yrs, washwr/drywr, alot of stuff. 1) they are using an old moving compay's phone number & never said who they were when they answered, so I thought I was talking to the company I used prior. 2) instead of the nice older lady I spoke with a very abrupt girl who was very quick to take $500 (wanted more) deposit and schedule the move. She said there was no time to have someone come out and evaluate my items, gave me a date and said I could be charged more on moving day. I explained it was fine that I absolutely had to be moved, I had no other help.

Hey [Member Name Removed] thanks for providing us information on your move. Our records indicate that you hired our company on April 26th, 2017 for a relocation on May 1st. While we always prefer to have an estimator/relocation coordinator out in advance to explain the move process it does not seem that was possible with the short notice of less than a week. We believe this may have resolved your concerns and suggest that in the future you contact a mover sooner. Even if you don't know where your going right away working with a relocation coordinator sooner could help resolve some to of this stress in the future. It does look like our phone representative was able to provide you an accurate quote even though the quote was done over the phone based on the Estimated Cost of Service that was prepared. We hope you consider us again in the future and believe this concerns will be able to be addressed.

Stay away from these folks. They ruined so many of our belongings during a move last summer...and we just got our check today that does not cover anywhere the near the amount of true damage.

The experience was awful. They didn't show up ready to pack up our stuff even though we told them they would need to do so. It took much longer than expected. Absolutely terrible. Truck pulled into driveway on loading day with heavy leak of coolant and oil mixture pouring on driveway. Truck had a number of condition issues that left me wondering why it was allowed to be in service. No mattress bags were provided. No mirror boxes were provided. Crew failed to use padding on several pieces of furniture, leading to significant damage to many pieces. One entertainment cabinet was destroyed. Leg pulled from kitchen table base. Missing items. Crew did not bring food or beverages or tools. Company had to send crew with pressure washer to clean stains on concrete driveway at loading point.

The men who packed my things were great- as were the men who delivered... However, there was a "repacking" in a larger truck in-between those two. That showed total incompetence and care for my belongings. An antique bookcase had the legs broken off and a glass pane smashed; an antique table also had the legs snapped off. Packages marked "fragile" were smashed and items broken. I am missing at least one box and a beautiful large garden pot. I am waiting for estimates on repair of broken items, but I cannot in good conscience let this go without saying something. I don't know what happened as the men I met were polite and careful. This much damage to one load is unacceptable as an Angie's List provider.

I had the majority of my things packed; what was left to pack was done in a very careless manner. They took no care to cover flooring of either the house I was leaving or the house I moved into - I asked them to cover my living room area rug and was ignored - it is now filthy ( I had just had it cleaned recently) - I work from home, the Farr workers dismantled my work desk, lost all of the connectors for the desk which is now unusable. I called the office and was told by a Maxine all would be taken care of - that was a week ago and I have not received any claim forms or even had a call to apologize for the unprofessional crew. To top it all off at the end of this debacle the lead crew member, Stetson came to me with a "deal" stating he would reduce the charges if I gave each of the six crew a $20-30 dollar tip! They were getting ready to leave and asked if I wanted anything else - a quick inspection showed neither bed was assembled, boxes were not in the right rooms, the wardrobe boxes they packed were not labeled so we had no idea of where to put them - I have found items in the garage that were clearly marked for other rooms. All in all a VERY frustrating and unpleasant experience. I chose this bunch due to the ratings on Angie's list - A bad mistake - these guys are awful -

I cannot say enough HORRIBLE things about our experience. They were late every time and rude about it.! The movers took apart all of our furniture and lost pieces. I was told that we would have the same movers in Florida that packed our stuff in Pittsburgh. This was not the case. The new set of movers had no clue how to put our furniture back together. My husband did most of it. We couldn't wait to get them out of our house. Everything was filthy including my box spring. In Florida they only sent 2 people to unpack 8,000 pounds of stuff.

Hired the company to pack our belongings and move us out of state. The packer/movers arrived on schedule for each part of the move (packing, loading truck, and unloading the truck). The person who packed us did a fine job. So far everything we have unpacked from the boxes has arrived without breaking. Everything outside of a box has been chipped, stained, broken, or has not arrived. The movers were personable but in each house dinged up either the floor or the door frame when moving items. The worst though is the condition of our belongings -- our mattresses arrived stained (multiple types and colors) and just gross. Our couch also arrived stained and with weird imprintings that will not come out. Lamps and other wood furniture chipped and scraped or with black smudges that do not come off. A rug was ruined (was not wrapped for who knows what reason). Everything that was not in a box was messed up in some way. The list of belongings that are damaged grows each day. We also did not receive a nightstand. During delivery we noticed a few belongings that were not ours. When we pointed them out to the movers, they were put back on the truck. We are waiting to file our claim because we want to make sure we take full inventory before doing so and they only delivered our belongings a few days ago. Hopefully the company will be responsive in a timely manner. We paid a lot of money in exchange for sub-quality services.

One of the selling points was that goods would be placed on one truck by the same crew that would deliver them, as opposed to other services who would load it on a local truck then transfer it to another truck and back to a local truck. When the driver and crew showed up on the day of the move he sated there was no room on his truck. He also didn't know a motorcycle was being moved, even though it was on his paperwork. I had to point it out. After calling a dispatcher I was informed that there was indeed room on the truck and additional crew and a supervisor would be sent. Two hours later when the supervisor arrived he made no attempt to speak with me. I had to ask the workers to stop what they were doing and explain to me what was happening. The supervisor was extremely rude and would not stop working or listen to me. I had to ask twice for him to stop and explain what was happening. His response was to say "If you don't want to listen to me..." and walked away. At this point I called the dispatcher again who informed me that my goods would be split between two trucks and later moved to one truck for delivery. I explained this was not who the service was sold to me at which point he became very rude and stated they were the experts on moving and storage and if I didn't want them to do it he would remove his crew. I canceled the order and am now left with finding an alternative mover at higher cost. Overall the crew had very poor attitudes and the supervisors were rude.

I used this company before and the first time they were amazing. Price was cheap even though the move was difficult. So when I moved again, I of course called them. For some reason they sent 3 movers (even though it took 2 the first time) and 1 guy sat on his butt and did nothing all day. So, I paid for an extra guy for nothing. Then, I paid for the additional insurance which was around $220. Well, don't buy it because they do not honor it. They accidentally left with a few of my items in their truck, minor items like a mattress cover. But they also broke the wheels off my super heavy coffee table and also chipped the oak wood on the edges and pulled the legs out of joint (it's a 1200 table), they broke the fastners on my dresser mirror, broke some particle board items, smashed my tablet and cracked the frame of my sofa. When I sent in the report for the insurance claim they only refunded me $50 for the mattress cover. The letter they sent me said... You refused any insurance coverage therefore we are not responsible for the damage included is the money to replace the mattress cover. This issue is closed please do not call our office again. If you would like to object to this please file a grievance. I filed that grievance and never heard from them again. After months I gave up. If you use these guys don't waste your money on the insurance. I will say the manager on the moving crew was super nice and apologized several times for the 3rd guy being there
