My original movers didn’t end up working out so I had to call around for same day service. Don Farr was able to provide me with movers at the last minute. With the pricing stated on the phone, I readily agreed. PROS: *Last minute availability *Dispatcher was very pleasant and understanding of my situation *Workers were polite CONS: *Workers arrived an hour later than expected *Workers seems to take their time *Took workers over 30 mins to get to storage unit which was less than 5 miles away BIGGEST CONS: *They don’t tell you about the travel fee ($150) or environmental fee ($25)

We recently had the pleasure of using Don Farr Moving for our move, and I can't express how satisfied we are with their services. From start to finish, they exceeded our expectations and made a potentially stressful experience incredibly smooth. The communication throughout the process was impeccable. The team at Don Farr, especially Dave & Floyd, promptly responded to all of my inquiries, provided a clear and detailed quote, and scheduled the move at my convenience. This level of professionalism immediately put me at ease. On the moving day, the crew arrived right on time, and their friendly demeanor instantly created a positive atmosphere. They were respectful of my belongings and their efficiency was remarkable. The entire move was completed within the estimated timeframe, and the final cost matched the initial quote – no hidden fees or surprises. Thank you Don Farr!

Hired movers to help load a U-Haul for moving to Connecticut. The two man crew showed up on time, were respectful, and showed a great deal of care while loading our personal belongings into the truck. They had a keen eye for loading the truck in a manner of which there was zero space wasted and all items were tightly in place. After an 8 hour drive, there was NO load shift and unloading took a fraction of the loading time due to the way the truck was packed. If we had been moving locally, we would have hired them to do the entire move.

Description of Work: Transit Systems is a broker who subcontracts movers. I contracted them to move my King Bedroom Set and two bookcases from storage at my sister's home in Baltimore to a condo I was closing on in Pittsburgh. Timing was critical as I am working overseas. They required me to pay the full cost upfront to book the dates. They kept me waiting until late afternoon the day before the scheduled delivery to confirm. Then when they delivered the furniture the had lost the mattress and box springs. They told me that they would go back to the warehouse and look for it - this was Don Farr Movers. They never called me and I waited all day. I had no bed to sleep in for seven days. Transit Systems only apologized but never updated me. I never received any information until the called me to see when they could deliver it. Never ever pay everything upfront - you loose all leverage. I would never use either of these contractors again - very poor customer service!

Estimate reasonable, they called about their fine service many times, so I chose them. Arrived on time. Packed china and glasswear well. Unfortunately did not take apart sideboard. Movers slipped with the sideboard down the stairs. Bashed up furniture. Driver said item would be replaced outside of insurance. I filed a claim for that, and the several other things that were damaged. My claim was rejected on all of them. I never even got the sideboard pieces. I am still pursuing this, a year and a half later. My claim for everything was for more than the deductable but they are refusing to pay anything. Do not return calls, and are rude.

The move was a totally negative one. Not only ws the crew rude to me, they kept talking about how other clients had tipped them with bottles of wine and money. At the end of the move the crew had already locked the trucks up and were all sitting there. they left so quickly after I signed the final paper that the crew head did not give me a receipt. After beginning to put things away, it became apparent that they had stolen at least two cases of expensive wine (later I became aware that they had also stolen a new I Pod). I submitted a claim to the main office and filed a police report (who said it was a case of them denying-Duh-with no concrete proof). The company never responded until I also submitted a Better Business Bureau claim (and was told by them that Don Farr had a number of claims against them). Their response was that since I didn"t purchase extra insurance they were paying me only $34.50 for estimated weight, with a stanard letter. It amazes me that they can advertise as movers for Pittsburgh's teams when they do such a horrific job of monitoring their crews. I would never use this company again, and recommend storngly that noone else use it. I'm only sorry that I didn't spread the word earlier and more aggressively that this company should not be in business.
Description of Work: we used Hindeman Moving-a sub-division of Don Farr. This was a multi-stop move, first from the apartment where I was living, second from a storage unit, and third from my previous house. Although they were told in advance about the multiple stops, they sent too few men and too little room on their truck. They had to call in another truck and mover which extended the time significantly. The cost of the move ($1360) was significantly higher then the estimate ($770-$880).

Don Farr movers responded promptly to my call. I requested a specific move-out date, and they were very accomodating. The movers were hard-working and professional. They stored my items while I was finding a permanent place to live in Pittsburgh, then moved the items in quickly and efficiently. There was no damage, and everything went smoothly. Occasionally, when I was calling Don Farr, I found their office staff who answer the phone to be a little brisk and tough to talk with. However, they would take my information, and have a more senior person call back, and the senior staff was always easy to work with. Overall, I would recommend Don Farr to others.

Description of Work: my initial impression of don farr was a good one---we had two previous moves and utilized them. the workers were kind and did wonderful jobs each time. i insisted on a very early AM moved the third time we moved and was under the impression that this was the case, but was called two days prior only to be told that there was nothing to that effect in writing and moreover, that would not and could not happen. this had repurcussions that were negative but they got here as quickly as possible, which was three hours after i had requested. they were more than a bit rude on telephone about this timing miscommunication. then, a family member then moved with don farr for an out of state move and the driver arrived days after expected, with a box that wasn't hers! also, they had no idea whose it was! i think that sometimes the workers are good and sometimes they are not as professional. overall, i am too afraid of a negative experience in the future (and the experiences of the 1 star reviewers on a local review site) to use them again.

Well, little did I know that Don Farr is NOT a company of its word. They operate via the "Triple D's. DIFFUSE - DENY - DEFEND. They denied the claim stating that since I signed the bill of laden and did not make a list of all the problems and document them on that document my claim was denied. After lengthy court hearings it appears Don Farr has got away with another one. If you use this company be prepared for the worst experience of your life. Even with the insurance you buy, at a 30% increase to your move, they have no intention of paying out. If you still use them follow these instructions. Take PLENTY OF PICTURES. A picture of each item prior to the move and another when they place it in its final location, if it makes it. Go to the company if you need them to contact you. They will not call you back. Get the names of each of the movers with their experience. They won't have much experience. DO NOT SIGN ANY DOCUMENTS AT ALL. Even if they complete the move. Wait for them to call you. HOLD BACK SOME MONEY. This is the only way to get resolution.
Description of Work: This company moved furniture from Elizabeth, PA to Perryopolis, PA (15 miles). During this move they managed to not only destroy some items but nick up and scratch almost half of the furniture. Secondly, they did not even deliver some items stating that they could not get the furniture to its final location because it would not fit. These items were left on the back porch. After the move was complete items damaged were identified to the driver and he stated he would send out claim forms for the damaged items, but stated that I needed to sign the bill of laden to verify the move.

IN ORDER TO DEFEND THIS COMPANY'S INTEGRITY IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THERE WERE WAS NO HIDDEN CLAUSES OR SITUATIONS HERE. THIS GENTLEMAN WAS INFORMED PRIOR TO THE MOVE AND WAS GIVEN AN IN HOME ESTIMATE AS TO THE COST AND PROCEDURES AND WHAT TO EXPECT. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT FOR AS IMPORTANT IT IS NOW FOR THIS CLAIM, IT TOOK HIM 9 MONTHS TO FILE IT. ALTHOUGH THIS CLAIM WAS DENIED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE MOVER DID NOT PACK HIS ITEM, WE DID IN THE INTEREST OF GOODWILL, RE-OPEN THE CLAIM AND PAID HIM BASED ON COMPARABLE REPLACEMENT COSTS. IT WAS CLEAR ON HIS CLAIM FORM THAT THE AMOUNTS AND VALUES OF THE ITEMS WERE NOT AS TO THE VALUE CLAIMED. WE PAID HIM AGAIN WITH LIKE KIND QUALITY ITEMS ON TODAY'S MARKET VALUE. HE HAS NEVER SUBSTANTIATE THE VALUES HE PLACED ON HIS CLAIM. SINCE THIS POSTING THE MOVER HAS NEVER BEEN ADVISED OF ANY ITEMS LEFT BEHIND, SHOULD THIS HAVE THE CASE A SIMPLE PHONE CALL TO THE OFFICE AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF, HOWEVER, HIS SIGNATURE WHEN THE MOVERS LEFT HIS ORIGIN RESIDENCE VERIFIED THAT ALL ITEMS WERE TAKEN. WE AT DON FARR MOVING REALIZE THAT MOVING CAN BE A STRESSFUL TIME AND TRY TO DO EVERYTHING TO MAKE THE MOVE AS SMOOTH AS POSSIBLE AND TO EDUCATE THE CONSUMER. WE FEEL THAT THIS CONSUMER WAS TREATED WITH RESPECT AND FAIRLY AS WE TREAT ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING US TO RESPOND TO THIS MATTER.

Overall, they got the job done. We had a ton of stuff, and they underestimated the number of people and time it would take, and it spilled into a second day, and we had to help. We tried to explain this, but the estimate was done on the phone, so how can you really judge based on a phone estimate. Seemed like more questions should have been asked, now that I know the process better. Or perhaps for such a huge job, send a person out. The people in the office were overall pretty nice, and they had a few free boxes for us which we really liked. There was one worker who was a total work horse - a young Russian man - he did most of the job, even though there were 3 other people. Two of the people spent most of the time taking breaks. Nearly half of the boxes ended up in the wrong places, even though they were labeled. I think they just got tired at the end and just put everything on the first floor. We had was some damage (scrapes on the leather sofa), though we didn't even pursue it because we were pretty tired at the end too.

The move out of the apt. was great. The movers were on time and very efficient. The move from the storage facility was horrible. The movers were young (HS/college) and were not supervised by someone I felt was an experienced mover. Many of the damages happened bc they were unwrapping items on the truck, then bringing them into the house. I asked about that and they said it was 'easier' that way. They were completely unprofessional. Among other bumps and knicks, they broke a light fixture and as I came to find out later, they 'hid' damaged items (facing scratched, etc towards the walls, face down on the carpet...all the while complaining that 'this wasn't worth $9 an hour.' When I realized the extent of the damages after the movers left, I immediately contacted the Don Farr office, but was told the person I needed to speak to was not there, so I left a message outlining my issues and I was told I would get a call back. No one ever called. Aside from the damages I was left with, I was even more disappointed with their customer service, or lack there of. Even after five phone calls and a lengthy email, I was never personally contacted by anyone from Don Farr Moving (they also went by the name Hindman Moving & Storage). I filled out all of the paperwork required for damages, including photographs of the damage, original receipts, owners manual, etc. and a few months later I received a check for a fraction of the amount of the damages. That was it. I was going to take them to small claims court, but it was just too much to deal with. Do yourself a favor and DON'T even call for a quote!

My husband had used Don Farr twice before and was pleased with their work those two instances. The third experience was much worse. Their estimate was fair and the driver was professional at the pickup. At the drop off, we noticed some items were missing. After reviewing the inventory, it turned out that they did not deliver a television, set of golf clubs, and three boxes, which contained a CD collection and board games. All totaled, about $1800 worth of goods was not delivered. The driver pretty much admitted that it was an inside job, and that the stuff was stolen from the truck the night before the delivery. He wrote a letter saying that the television was his fault, so the company replaced the television. However, for the remaining items, we were only compensated by weight, so we were out about $1500. It was my husband's fault for not opting for full replacement value insurance, and we will never do that again with any move. I would never use Don Farr moving (we have since moved twice more and had good experiences with other movers).

They were on time, but their work was slower than other movers I've used (I have moved many times prior including in-city and inter-state moving). I opted for 4 movers which was more expensive, but I hoped it would make the work go quickly. Among other things, they scratched my coffee table, my farmhouse dining table, and dropped the box containing my LCD tv. Luckily, the TV was unharmed but my farmhouse table is one of a kind and the coffee table is no longer in production so both are irreplaceable. They broke two legs on my office console and left behind a few items from my old residence. They neglected to bring the wardrobe boxes I requested. Overall, I was unimpressed with the service provided. I placed a call to complain but never received a call back from the company regarding the damages to my stuff.

I have just put in my claim for damages. I don't know how well they or their insurance company will handle this. The office was very helpful in scheduling and had a generally very good attitude. Unfortunately the foreman of the move, although a very nice person was in a huge rush both during the packing and loading of my belongings and in delivering them. Items were left that should have been taken. I had quite a bit of damage to my belongings. I didn't feel that they did a proper job in delivering the items. There were things left in the driveway, the garage, they were just in a big rush. They did send someone out to make small repairs and he was very helpful. They also sent a truck to pick up the additional items that had been left behind. They were very nice about that. The price was very fair.

Incredible! They were amazing. They treated my grandmother's corner cupboard as though it was their grandmother's corner cupboard. They were polite, beyond helpful, respectful, something you NEVER encounter in movers! These guys are the gods of moving!!! I wish my house wasn't a white elephant. I'd sell it, and move again, so they could move me! Their prices were reasonable, cheaper than the company that specializes in small loads. They were prompt. The only problem I had was that a dispatcher gave them the wrong house number. So, they called me and I gave them the right one. My sister, who lives to find fault, agrees that they're wonderful. Hire them!

The movers did not package mirrors and a marble top from an antique table as promised. They antagonized the management at the senior complex and were unprofessional in relating that exchange with the management to us the customers. The marble top was broken - shattered because the mover dropped it - as witnessed by the management. We were lead to believe by the movers, who apologized for the incident, that compensation for the broken top would not be a problem. Despite following the companies procedures and documenting the loss thoroughly the claim was denied and a compensation based on the weight of the broken marble was delivered. This is not an acceptable resolution.
