John was super! It was easy and pleasant to arrange his visit, and he called me when he was about 20 minutes away. In addition to cleaning our chimney, he was quick to diagnose a persistent water issue we've been having. Not only did he explain what was happening, but also had actionable recommendations about how to fix it. I'd 100% recommend!

Cleaned and inspected wood stove and chimney which had not been looked at in 35 years (but never heavily used). Installed two chimney caps. Recommended PMP mortar sealant on top of chimney to be done when it gets warmer. Very friendly and informative. Very professional. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

The chimney hadn't been swept in a REALLY long time. John did a GREAT job. He also fixed the damper handle which has been off track for some time. While working, he gave great tips for burning fires, spreading the ash to keep the fire burning evenly, etc. etc. Very pleasant person. His wife handles the scheduling -- she is quite pleasant and accommodating as well.

I did find somebody for chimney sweep on Angie's List. I did use Let There Be Light Chimney Sweep. I would probably do some price shopping before I use them again. To other Angie's List member, I would say that for the chimney sweeping the price is fine because maybe I got a deal through Angie's List, I can't remember, but for more extensive work I would certainly recommend getting multiple quotes.

John the owner did a really first rate, professional job with an attention to detail like I've never seen. From experience with doing the chimney next to it we know how difficult of a job it is. John left the place looking almost like he'd never been there. My wife's extensive plantings were entirely undisturbed, no left over bits of anything, everything cleaned flawlessly. He even installed a system to deal with the condensation issues the chimney seems to take great pleasure in creating. And the icing on the cake was he came back weeks later to double-check the draft setting on the chimney and explained that slight differences in how it's set can make major differences in how efficiently the burner will work. Truly a pleasure to deal with a consummate professional.

John did such an excellent job with our chimney. He examined our fireplace and chimney, swept the chimney and offered some suggestions for improving the heat output of our fireplace. He was very professional and a pleasure to work with. He carefully explained what he was doing and why he was doing it. He worked quickly, but carefully and now we're ready for winter.

I had a very good experience with this Company. John was very professional in all apsects of the job. He reviewed my concerns and took a look at my three chimneys, both in the house and on the roof. In the end, I had one extremely dirty chimney, which John was able to clean. He also provided helpful recommendations for maintenance.

However, John goes a step further and if you want to hear it, will explain what he's doing and why, and give you suggestions, tips and advice - though not in an attempt to upsell.

John was just wonderful ! Swept our neglected chimney and offered some great advice on some possible upgrades ( with no pressure..). Diagnosed some problems we had with some leakage problems and provided us with a contact to help us with that. Arrived just as promised, and explained what he was doing step-by-step. Will certainly be a returning customer !

We called John because another provider who I wont name here had inspected our chimney and told us it needed major repairs, including a new liner and several other items, and the cost estimate was almost $6,000. Something just didn't feel right - we have our chimney cleaned every couple of years and we don't use it a whole lot and no one ever mentioned any problems whatsoever and now all of the sudden we need a new liner? - so we called several other providers. Unfortunately all three providers I spoke to told us this is a common 'scam' in our area. John seemed the most knowledgable, so we had him come out and do an inspection. John did a thorough evaluation and was very good at explaining everything he was doing and the things he was looking for and actually had me look along side him and pointed things out to me inside the chimney, what was good and what needed repair. He told us there was no need for a new liner at all, all that was required was a few minor repairs to reseal the firebox which he did right then and there. Total cost was only a few hundred dollars for the inspection and repairs and the piece of mind. He did say that while the liner was fine, the exterior cap actually needed repair and recommended sealing the exterior brick afterwards to preserve and extend the life of the chimney. We did have him come back and do that work as well; he came the day he said he would and performed the work and sent us before and after pictures. All in all John was very professional and seems very fair and honest. He is also quite a unique and likeable personality, he had a number of funny stories and just really seems to enjoy his job, people, and life in general. He was a pleasant surprise all around.

Mr Wisnewski was prompt and thorough. He explained the entire procedure and had several handy suggestions regarding our fireplace. We would definitely utilize him again for our chimney work. We highly recommend him.

Excellent. He was extremely polite and professional. He also noticed a small defect in part of our chimney and fixed it at no charge. We have two small children (4 and 2) and he was very pleasant with them as well as our dog. I would highly recommend this company!

John was knowledgeable and informative, provided several different solutions and options in dealing with our situation. His explanations were clear and understandable.

Just wonderful! For someone like me that knows next to nothing about chimneys and the ins and outs , John was my professor! He's is all-knowing and will advise you as to what the right thing is to do and how he can do it and what you are looking at price wise before any work is done. If he can't do the work for you, he will recommend someone to help you and walk you through what that would look like. We were very lucky to find him! A true Gem! I would not go anywhere else.

We had our 2 chimneys swept by a different company who then sent us a letter stating there were structural problems that needed to be fixed. We had John come to give us a second opinion. After doing a level 2 inspection he felt that the only thing that needed to be fixed was a new stainless steel liner be placed down the chimney to our oil fired heater. His price was about the same as the first company. Due to the recommendations on Angie's list we decided John was the person for the job which went off without any problems.

John did a great job on the inspection and cleaning of our chimney. He also gave us recommendations on how to improve the efficiency of our fireplace as well as information on a cleaning schedule for the chimney. The best time to have a chimney cleaned (if possible) is in the spring/summer as chimney sweeps are really busy in the fall and winter. John was efficient and cleaned up well at the end of his service. Thanks John, we'll call you next spring!

John was great to work with. He was punctual, clean, and very thorough with his inspection. We needed this work done because it came up during our home inspection while we were selling the house. After receiving his name from a few local references, I called him on a Friday afternoon and he was there Monday morning to look at everything. He also spent awhile on the phone with me on a Sunday evening as I was describing the issues. He gave us a great HVAC contact as well to correct another issue in the inspection report and John even came out a second time on the same day as the HVAC person to work through solving that issue together. He is quite a character and I was very happy with his work. He was kind enough to take pictures of everything and email it to us for our inspection negotiations. I would not hesitate to call him again if an issue arises in our new home.

John was excellent. We had just put our house on the market and several issues came up during the home inspection. After getting his name from a few local people, I called him on a Friday afternoon and he came out to check on the issue first thing Monday morning after talking to me for awhile on the phone on a Sunday evening. He inspected everything and performed the work that needed to be done right away. He also gave me the contact for a great HVAC person to address another issue that came up in inspection and together they helped solve our water heater exhaust issue. They even came back to the house together on a Saturday to solve that problem. He is quite a character and it was a pleasure working with him. I will not hesitate to call him again if I have any chimney/exhaust work that needs to be done.

John fully explained the issues and what he was going to do to fix them. He was very responsive.

John went above and beyond to fix the problem I was having with spillage on top of my water heater coming from the chimney. He is very personable and knowledgeable and was able to quickly determine what was causing the problem. John is very kind and patiently explained that not only were my vent connector pipes not up to code but that one of the vents and a dead bird were blocking my furnace connector by about 50%. He redesigned the connector pipes and cleaned them and the chimney. He also put a custom chimney cap on to prevent any more birds from getting in. John also figured out that my new dryer was adding to the problem and advised me to keep my laundry room door open or my window to allow circulation in the room. I felt that the price was very reasonable for all the work that John did and I am forever grateful to him for fixing the problems and avoiding a potentially dangerous situation for my family and me. I would recommend John with "Let There Be Light" to everyone!

John showed up on time and has a very engaging personality. He surveyed the chimney and then went to work cleaning. He completed the job quickly, and with our making a mess. He cleaned up after himself, leaving it better than he found it! I know nothing about chimney's, but John showed me what it looked like before he cleaned the chimney; then when he completed the job, he explained the difference. He worked fast and hard and was willing to explain his craft at the same time.
