They always let us know what they were doing or what they needed to do or if they had to run for a part or anything like that. They always kept us updated on what they were doing.
Description of Work: We used McKean. They put in a new faucet. We had them several times. We had several faucets done and I believe they did something else.

 + -1 moreDon't go anywhere else for any plumbing and heating needs. They are not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but they give you the best service, honest advice and professionalism for you dollar.
Description of Work: I have used McKean on several occasions over the last several years and I can't even begin to explain how knowledgeable, courteous, professional and efficient they are. Over the last many years, I have had them to my home for everything from plumbing leaks to heating problems, and never once were they not on time and unable to fix the problem. The best part of their service is their honesty. As with the most recent visit, my wife and I returned from the south to a welcoming 33 degrees and a furnace that wouldn't heat. And that was on a Sunday night. Called McKean main number, followed the prompts for emergency service, and guess who answers. Mark, the owner. Now who does that in this day and age. Through a series of very quick phone calls, Mark has one of his men not only finish another job to come to my house (mind you, it's Sunday evening) but goes to their shop to see if a particular part is still in stock just in case he might need it. Long story short, he not only doesn't need the part he went out of his way to get, but instead flushes and cleans an existing clogged part and has my furnace up and running within under an hour. Bottom line, I've been in the construction business and have never met an owner of a company that was so helpful and honest as I have had with Mark. And no, I'm not a relative, neighbor or personal friend. They are just that good. Great job by the technician, Joel. Greg

Scheduling was a breeze and everything I addressed while scheduling was known by the plumber when he called prior to showing up. He called ahead of time to make sure he had everything that needed done and the proper parts before leaving the shop.

 + 2 moreOur electric hot water heater tripped the circuit breaker in the electrical panel and we didn't have any hot water the next morning. I called McKean that morning at approximately 10:30 A.M. I explained what happened and that I took the panels off and saw that one of the wires connected to the bottom element was burned. At first they said they wouldn't be able to come until the next day at 1pm but they called back a little later and said that they had a cancellation and could come around 1pm that same day. The technician called a few minutes later and said that he could be there earlier than 1pm. He arrived at noon and finished the job in one hour. Everything seems to be working well and we really appreciated that they were able to repair it the same day.
Description of Work: Changed both the top and bottom elements of the hot water heater and repaired the burned wire on the bottom element.

 + 0 moreSelling a house in Canonsburg. A new shower would not drain due to rusted old plumbing in the drain. Showed up in the home inspection. McKean came out the day after I called and in 1 1/2 hours the problem was fixed, tested and everything was cleaned up. Al was a local guy and was familiar with the plumbing in older homes (60+ years old). He was not phased and he solved the problem quickly, efficiently and at a reasonable cost. After bad experiences with larger firms, I will never use anyone else but McKean in the future.
Description of Work: Had a clogged tub/shower drain due to a rusted iron drum trap. Cut out the old stuff and replaced it with a plastic trap.

 + 2 moreAll plumbers should model themselves after Art Stimmel. His knowledge, courtesy and professionalism are top-notch. After seeing the issue, he wasn't sure when they would be able to perform the work. Not even 5 minutes after leaving my house, he came back and said he'd be able to perform the work today. Works for me! After giving Art the OK, 20 minutes later he returned with the parts and took ~15 minutes to install them. He then took the time to answer a couple other plumbing related questions regarding drainage, an old cistern and my boiler heat.

 + 2 moreI recommend McKean Plumbing. I was preparing my house for sale and had a one week window of time in which to get all the major work done. McKean worked with me to schedule a day at the beginning of that week. The work was installation of a new ventilation fan/light in the master bathroom and installation of ductwork in the attic from the two bathroom ventilation fans to vent out of the side of the house. They removed and replaced the old ventilation fan/light in the master bathroom (the old fan had been installed by a DYI person and it was not easy to remove!) They then had to climb up through a very small opening in the bedroom closet ceiling into the unfinished, attic where they had to work in a very tight space balanced on the rafters to install duct work from the two bathroom fans, and install a vent outlet in the side of the house. I felt kind of bad for them up there, but they assured me with a smile that it was all in a day's work. There were two workers (I'm sorry that I forget their names but they were both very nice guys). They arrived on time, were friendly and professional, and went right to work. I am very satisfied with the work they did and with McKean Plumbing.

After he left we noticed a tiny flaw in a fixture...we phoned and he said he would remedy the flaw by replacing the marred fixture...right then...he would immediately come back and he did. A new fixture was installed and he apologized for leaving without perfect fixture. All was well. We are very happy.
