+ -1 moreThe old dishwasher was wedged and stuck under the countertop. It was very difficult to remove as the linoleum at the backend of the washer extended above the bottom of the washer and prevented an easy disengagement. There was very little clearance to maneuver and get the leverage needed to work in that confined area. Tom meticulously assessed what needed to be done and carefully angled the washer out by tamping down on the linoleum. This was not an easy process. He needed to be careful so as not to rip the exposed linoleum. The job was well done. Tom needed to update the plumbing for the new washer. The end result was a job well done. I would use Cooley Plumbing again and recommend his services to all.
Description of Work: Removed broken dishwasher and replaced with new one.

+ -1 moreTom Cooley did the work in my home. Two years ago, I had him replace my very old sump pump and add a battery back-up pump. This time I had him do some updating in my bathrooms. Tom is a great guy, very respectful and cooperative. He is a true professional. He listens to his clients and has good ideas about solutions to problems. He is very busy but always get back to you soon after you leave a voicemail, text message or e-mail. He shows up on time, protects the work space and cleans up well after the job. I thought this particular project might be a bit tricky because of the age of the fixtures being replaced (60+ years) and the configuration of the old plumbing but he was able to do everything without any problems. The final result looks great and I am very pleased with his recommendation of the manufacturer of the fixtures (Kohler). Everything works incredibly well and I am just sorry I waited so long to have the work done! I cannot judge whether his costs are high but the charges seem reasonable and it is reassuring to me to know that the job will be done properly. I would not hesitate to have him come back for any other plumbing issues I may have.

Tom Cooley has been taking care of our plumbing needs for over 20 years. We have always found him to be a great diagnostician. He can quickly get to the cause of the problem. He gets back to you quickly, is reliable, courteous, professional, and makes sure everything is cleaned up when his job is completed. He is so trustworthy I have no problem leaving him alone in our home.

+ -1 moreTom arrived within 5 minutes of the appointed time. He was very courteous, and got right to work after seeing the scope of the job. My powder room faucet had a hot water drip that wasn't repairable, so I had just kept it shut off for 2 years. He replaced the faucet with my new one, and also ended up having to replace all the existing plumbing parts under the sink because of significant corrosion. It took longer than we had originally thought because of the existing corrosion, and I almost felt sorry for him because he had a very small space to work in (tiny downstairs powder room), and he needed to bend like a pretzel to maneuver in my little vanity lav. However, he did so without complaint. The toilet fix was quick, and now no longer screeches after flushing. I am very pleased with his professionalism, and his clean-up was immaculate. I've been looking for a near by local plumber, and am happy to have found Tom. Although I had to spend more than I wanted to, his pricing was fair, and it's nice to have a working faucet with fresh new parts under the sink that work correctly.
Description of Work: He removed a defective faucet set and replaced it with a new Delta faucet that I had purchased. He also replaced the Ballcock in one of my toilets which was making a screeching noise after flushing.

After several hours (sewer line) the job was finished and I check it out. The work was done extremely professionally. The area was left very clean and better than before. + -1 moreOk, let's see, he replaced all the plumbing fixtures in the master bath, as well as the toilet and sink. Not as easy as it sounds as he had to find parts for and rebuild an old shower/tub valve. Had not been able to do that we would have had to take out most of a wall in the bathroom to replace it from scratch. Second floor bath replaced all fixtures and put in new toilet. First floor bath all fixtures, new toilet and new water lines. All new water lines in kitchen and replaced kitchen sink and faucet. tHe had to replace practically all the plumbing in the basement as this was a purchase of an old house in Malvern that hadn't had any work done, other than patching, since the early sixties. Many leaks and code issues. Ran all new lines to the exterior hose bibbs and washing machine as well. Used all top of the line fixtures and did a superb job. His attention to detail was impressive - even used a fast set grout when mounting the toilets to prevent wobble years down the road.
Description of Work: Completely modernized three bathrooms and kitchen, replaced plumbing throughout all of these and basement and exterior of home.

He came out, charged to give an estimate, and gave a quote that seemed on the high side so I decided to get a second opinion and I am glad that I did! Tom came out to give me a quote (for which he did not charge). Then he took the time to explain what needed to be done and why and then gave me a quote that was significantly less. He then came out to do the work himself. He was very professional and cleaned up any mess he made. I would definitely call him should I have any more plumbing needs. Honest, trustworthy, and hard working!
Description of Work: The drain pipe from my kitchen sink was leaking in my basement. The pipe was an old lead pipe that needed to be replaced with PVC which involved welding new joints to replace the pipe.

+ -1 moreI appreciated that Tom Cooley took the time to look at our radiators and explain to me his findings. He did not charge me for the visit even though he was at our house for about 45 minutes. I've had many other contractors charge a service fee just for coming out. If we decide to proceed with the work, we will definitely hire Tom Cooley to do the work.
Description of Work: We have an old steam boiler heating system from the 1930s. The radiators in two rooms of our house aren't producing heat. The oil company said to get a plumber to come out to try to figure out the problem. Tom Cooley came out to look at the radiators. After spending 30 minutes looking at the different radiators, he discussed his findings with me. In one room the radiator has the wrong pitch but to fix the problem would involve ripping a bathtub out of the wall to access the entire radiator. In the other room, he thinks that the problem may be the steam traps in the radiators. He gave me a rough estimate for the cost of replacing the steam traps in two radiators.

+ 0 moreAll the work that Tom has done for us was done very professionally. He gives excellent advice, explains details of the work that he is about to perform. He's punctual and a pleasure to have around.
Description of Work: Our electric water heater showed signs of a break down and we planned to have it replaced with a gas powered water heater. We talked with 4 different plumbers who came by and surveyed the work that needed to be done. Tom Cooley stood out. He took some pictures to help him in estimating the amount and detail of the work that needed to get done. He advised us to go with a Bradford White power vented 50 gallon water heater replacing our 80 gallon electric water heater. He also mentioned that fitting in a new gas line would be a tight job. He also looked at 2 saddle valves which appeared to be in a state of decay. He said they should be replaced with compression valves. After selecting him to do the work we felt somewhat apprehensive because there were quite a few fail points in the work that needed to get accomplished and our past experience with plumbers had been rather mixed. His professional work far exceeded our expectations. He installed the water heater which sits in an aluminum pan which in turn is placed on a square pedestal made out of a plastic composite. We had also asked him to look for a device which detects water leaks. This device was also installed and, when tested, performed very nicely. It’s a clever device that shuts off the water and, once it has done that, can be reset. It’s nice to have someone come up with this kind of a selection. A week later the saddle valves were replaced and a small flexible plastic pipe which connected the ice maker in our refrigerator to one of the valves was replaced with a bendable copper tube. This was not an easy job and it was all executed very nicely. Some weeks later we had some new shutoff valves installed in our bathroom – all done in a very timely and professional manner. Tom knows his stuff. Several weeks back we detected a leak in our kitchen ceiling and we weren’t quite sure where it was coming from. Tom came by and immediately and said that our shower pan must have developed a leak. He did a leak test to confirm his diagnosis. All in all, Tom is plumber that gives you competent advice and performs his work with pride and a high degree of professionalism. We have been very happy to have him as a plumber. The total Dollar amount of the work which Tom performed for us is around $3400.00. We highly recommend him to anyone. You will not be disappointed. He is punctual, explains the work that needs to get performed and then carries it out in a calm and experienced way. All the work mentioned was done between March 29, 2012 and June 2, 2012.
