It went very well. We had major issues with the chimney, and they were addressed both structurally and aesthetically. The chimney is now sound and a handsome feature, as opposed to before when it was an eyesore waiting to fall down and leak etc. His crew was very courteous and professional and conscious of our environment.
Description of Work: Reconstructed my chimney, and provided a customized cap.

From my initial call to Linda to completion of the project by Paul and his team, it was a good experience. All work was performed as described in original bid. I was impressed by how well the the team worked together. They were prompt, tidy, and efficient. Paul is knowledgeable and willingly explained the "hows and whys" of what was being done.
Description of Work: Removed all brick from chimney to roof line and then rebuilt it to original height, capped two unused chambers and for live chamber created flue lined cap. Accumulated debris from all three chambers was removed. Additionally, he spot pointed my garage.

Sabol Masonry did a major overhaul of my crumbling stoop for my town home last fall - and they did an amazing job. I received a quick call back from Linda and estimates were provided the next day. I requested a quick turn around due to trying to the sell the house and they really worked to accommodate me. Original estimate was for replacement of about half the bricks, but due to challenges with matching the brick (issues at the brickyard), they ended up replacing most of the stoop and blending what they could. The crew finished the job in the same time and made good on the estimate due even though the mistake was on the brick yard. (Thank you!) The crew was professional, courteous, and the workmanship was great. They even handled by beyond crazy neighbors well. :) I very much appreciate the work they did and would be my first call if I need any masonry work done in the future.

First, as everyone has said, Linda is wonderful. Paul and his crew were all very nice. What I was most impressed by, perhaps, was how they dealt with a not very happy neighbor of mine. There's a chimney that opens into my house but is in part on her roof (old rowhouses...) and they gave her a written guarantee they wouldn't hurt her roof, and calmly explained that the chimney was in such bad shape it would soon cause her problems as well. Reviewing the pointing is a little more difficult to do. My house was built in 1890, so we're talking about old, porous brick and mortar. It's one of those deals where patching the worst stuff just makes it clear all the other places there are problems. Because of this I need to judge by function rather than appearance, unlike many reviewers. I was also painting anyway, which they knew, so appearance wasn't a concern. Since their work, I'm not taking in water along the walls, so they clearly found and fixed the problem spots. I'm totally satisfied. They came back twice to fix small things I found, and were quick and polite about it.

The chimney on my house was in bad shape, moss growing out of cracks, missing mortar and leaking. there were several areas where water had leached the mortar out. Sabol masonry re-pointed all areas the needed it, and replaced the chimney cap with a new concrete one, stopping the leak and keeping water and bugs out of the house. They missed one area under a window that the mortar is crumbling, I will have to get that fixed in the spring. They showed up the day they said, and got it all done in one day, cleaned everything up nicely.

This company is fantastic. I contacted Linda to get an estimate on some brick re-pointing. Paul came to my home, looked at the porch and gave me his detailed plan for repair. The workers, Mike and Ryan, arrived at the scheduled time, explained what they we going to do and began working immediately. The job was completed in less than a day. Mike and Ryan are very professional and worked quietly and efficiently. When they left, the work area was very clean. The finished job is beautiful. I highly recommend this company. Sabol Masonry is easy to deal with, and very responsive to your inquiries. I can't compliment them enough.

I was impressed from the beginning working with Mr. and Mrs. Sabol. Mr. Sabol actually went up on the roof to inspect the work that needed to be done whereas others just eye-balled it from the ground. He gave me an estimate of the cost, explained the cost, how long the job would take, and approximately when he could start the job. Mrs. Sabol kept in close contact regarding scheduling the date of the job. The job seemed well managed and all work was completed in same day. The workers on time, were diligent and respectful. The match of brick type and color was excellent. The look of the brick work is seamless. The property was left spotless.

Excellent. First Paul came and gave us an estimate in June. Then we hired Paul in October to complete the work from the estimate. His team took great care to set-up and brought up any concerns with questions. Paul and his team came promptly every day and systematically completed their jobs. We are very pleased with the results.

The estimates are reasonable. They show up on time. They listen to my concerns and explain their plans. They do neat work. No mortar is slopped over on the brick. They do a good job of matching mortar color. They do a good job of cleaning up. They deserve the A ratings they get.
Description of Work: They repaired and recapped the top of the chimney. They did such a good job that I had them back a few months later to repoint failing mortar joints all over the house.

First, during the estimate phase we received the most thorough and personal estimate of the 3 companies we looked at. The company owner came when we were available and walked around the entire house with us. It was a give and take with us pointing out things we were aware of and the owner pointing out additional issues. My first inclination was to have an entire re-point because I've heard that to get the best look (most cosmetically pleasing) you really need to do the full house. The owner indicated that other than the holes and items he pointed out the mortar was sound. He did come back out later to estimate the whole house. Due to the expense of a full re-point we decided just to go with the point and repair where needed. The 4 man team showed up on time and worked solidly through out the day. The new cement cap and chimney work look good as does the new lintel. The spaled bricks were repaired. All of the holes were repaired with mortar that basically matches the existing mortar. I cannot say that you cannot tell the repair from the portion that did not need repaired because you can BUT it looks much better than it did before. Years ago (pre our ownership) someone did a mortar repair that that job was terrible. Following the day's work we were asked to review and contact the company with any issues. We did find one spaled brick that was missed and we wanted the caulk at one of the windows redone as the new caulk of course really stood out from the old. The company had a 2 man team back the next work day to address the 2 items. Also the crew repaired a small number of old mortar repairs from the previous repair years ago. They did that without requesting any additional money. Also during the entire scheduling, discussion of work and follow-up there was always good communication from the service provider.
Description of Work: The provider pointed numerous open holes in the mortar around the entire house. The provider repaired spaled bricks and repaired a settlement crack. The chimney mortar joints were ground down to the roofline and pointed. Window sills were ground back and pointed. A flue liner cup was installed and a new cement wash-cup was installed on top of the chimney. A lintel was also replaced.

Paul and his team showed up on time and ready to work. They worked fast and efficiently replacing a five foot lintel, bricks, and spot pointing within four hours. Paul then moved onto the smaller lintel and worked by himself creating a seamless transition as the mortar matched very well on the first day of work. They then moved onto the back of the house and spot pointed and grinded out the back bricks, while replacing the six foot lintel. His team then came back out the next day to finish up work. They finished up within about four hours and the work looked great. Most of the mortar matched seamlessly, however, in some spots on the second day there is a slight variation in the color (you would only notice if I pointed it out) but overall it looks great. They even spot-pointed work that was not in the original work order. My wife noticed that they did miss one cracked brick and a one cracked mortar joint on the back (a slight oversight). I called Paul and he came back out the next day to fix the problem no questions asked. Overall, Paul and his team were professional, courteous, and pleasant. They cleaned up everyday and were adamant professionals. I would recommend Sabol Masonry to anyone in need of brick and mortar work.
Description of Work: Paul and his team replaced three lintels, one six foot, one five foot, and one three foot. They also repointed, replaced, and corrected many of the issues caused by the swelling lintels. They also spot pointed and replaced broken bricks in a separate area not affected by the lintel.

I provided this name to my sister and this is what she said. I would highly recommend Paul and his guys! When I contacted this company, I mostly spoke with Linda. She always treated me with respect and kindness. She always returned phone calls promptly and handled everything very professionally. When Paul and his guys arrived on day one, they were all extremely professional, personable and courteous. They worked hard the whole time they were here. The work spanned several days including a very rainy day. The guys still arrived and worked on that rainy day! As far as pricing, this company was in the middle. Due to an oversight with our window company, we had extra lentils. Paul was more than willing to accommodate us and use the lentils at a reduced rate. As a result, we were able to have more (and much needed) work completed. Without Paul's willingness to help us, we would have had to put the extra work on the backburner.

When I called this company I left a message. Linda called me back immediately. We set up so that Paul could come out and give an estimate. He came and we did not even have to be home. We received the contract in the mail a few days later. When the men came out to due the job it was on a Saturday. These two where so friendly and professional with me. They explained everything to me. The job took them about 6 hours. When they where finished they showed me everything that was done. I was so impressed with the job that was completed. They even cleaned up so good that I could not tell that we had work done. I was so please with this company and the workers that did the job. I will definetly recommend this company to family and friends. Great Job!

I called Sabol along with three other Angie's list providers on 7/15/13. Linda called me back same day and had one of her estimaters at my house on 7/15. They provided the estimte of $275 and said they could do the work on 71/7/13. I couldn't be home on 7/17 due to work commitments but they came out in the afternoon and performed all the work. When they were finished they called me to let me know that they had finished the job and how it went. They also provided some useful tips on how to remove any excess dust from the bricks after the mortar had dried. They left behind a bill which was for the exact amount on the estimate. This was overall a really excellent experience and I will be sure to use this company again in the future.

Everything from start to finish went well. They were very responsive to my initial inquiry. They provided me with a detailed estimate and answered all of my questions. They arrived promptly on time, worked very hard and did a beautiful job. In addition, they went out of their way to include my daughter who lives out of state in the decision making process at my request. This was a very good experience. Linda was a very professional contact and the estimating and appointment times were smooth. The crew showed up as scheduled and did the work competently. I had some minor clean-up issues afterword - a board and rope left behind, some mortar not picked up from gravel bed - and they came back and cleaned it up after I told Linda. I was very impressed with that commitment to quality.

Very professional from start to finish. This was a five day job. Sabol Masonry totally rebuilt our chimney. We had gotten several bids for the job with many different opinions as to why the chimney was in such terrible condition in a home that was only twenty years old. Paul Sabol's opinion was the correct one, as we found out when he tore the chimney down. I was dreading having this done, not only for the cost, but for the mess and disruption I thought it would cause. The entire crew was excellent, starting with Paul's wife, Linda, who works in the office!! And boy, do they ever clean up after themselves. I couldn't believe it! Thank God I joined Angie's List when I needed A masonry job that was so involved. Although Paul wasn't the least expensive of the bids we received, he knows his job well. Excellent work!!! It looks beautiful and I would never hire anyone else if I need further work in the future.

The work was done in 1/2 of a day. The job was done extremely well for the original, estimated price. The whole process was handled professionally. All in all, we were very happy and would recommend them to anyone.

Outstanding crew! Paul arrived with five crew members promptly at 8:00 AM and completed all work - including clean-up - by 2:00 PM. The chimney is quite high - they properly set up scaffolding for the work. Additional scaffolding set up to complete the joint repair and brick replacement. All the crew members were polite, professional and pleasant - they all knew what they were doing and did it very well. This is a first-rate operation that put a lot of value into the work they billed for. I would bring them back without hesitation!
