As if written for a textbook on home appliance service calls! Steve responded timely to our request for service and arrived right on time For the service. He wasted no time in diagnosing the apparently common problem of the plugged drain causing our icing problem. He made the fix on the drain plug and de-iced the drain system. The freezer was put back together in minutes. We paid the bill and His visit was the pleasant experience you hope for when you need assistance.

Steve Houseknecht is a top of the line professional. Very knowledgeable; concise and to the point on repairing a two year old refrigerator my elderly mother in law had issues with. Very very fair parts and labor. Great communication. Mom was thrilled and would recommend him to everyone.

Kenmore dryer was not heating. Steve first came and replaced a part. The dryer did start to heat but was still not drying the clothes. He returned and cleaned out the vent; there wasn't enough outgoing airflow from the dryer, which made it build up too much heat and blow a fuse, so he cleaned out the dryer hose. It is working correctly now and he didn't even charge me extra when he had to come back. I am so glad to not have to go to the laundromat to dry my clothes. I'm going to contact him about fixing my dishwasher next.

THIS IS WHAT SERVICE IS SUPPOSED TO BE! We discussed the likely source of the problem in advance before he came to the house. After his diagnosis - he took the time to listen carefully to some additional symptoms I described, and as a result - rather than having to order a 320.00 part, was able to fix right there and then! All too often, that additional info would have been ignored and would have led to a longer and more expensive fix. I agree with the reviews stating 'This is what service used to be like' - cannot recommend Steve highly enough!

Steve replaced a defective part, then put on a new clamp. Washer works great. He was timely, friendly and obviously knows what he is doing. We could not be more pleased.

I called Steve for help with my leaking Samsung refrigerator based on the reviews I saw here at Angie’s List. When I called, I explained the issue. Steve diagnosed it over the phone, ordered the parts and was at my home to do the repair in two days. He was extremely professional and his price was very fair. About a week later, my refrigerator starting leaking again. I called Steve. Again he was very professional. At first he wasn’t sure what to make of the problem. He consulted his manuals and determined that there was only one other place where the refrigerator could still be leaking. Again he ordered the parts and was at my home to make the repair the day after the parts arrived. Steve subtracted the total cost of the first repair from my second bill. He also refused payment for the labor on his second visit. He was much more than fair with me. Any time I have appliances that need repair, Steve will be the first person I call.

There are not people like Steve left in this world. Answered Phone Immediatly. Took time to discuss issue and diagnose over the phone. Got back to me when he said he would, showed up on time and was very straightforward and informative. In my case, the issue was more involved then we originally thought (based on the phone discussion). Steve took the time to diagnose the issue and reviewed my options. In my case we felt that the part that actually needed to be replaced, I could do myself. He actually showed me how to put it in, He did not keep the part a secret and say he would have to order it (like most do and then mark up the price). He actually pulled it up on my computer and showed me where to get it. When we were all said and done (and he spent about an hour here), Steve charge me a diagnistic fee that was way fair! He is a blast from the past. I am telling you, he could have told me he needed to buy and install this part and this would have cost me hundreds more that it is going too. Steve, if you read this Thank you. Based on my experience..... Do not hesitate to call Steve!!!

Tried to fix it on my own, couldn't. Called Steve, he diagnosed it over the phone. I broke a glass and a piece of it got lodged in the pump and ruined the pump. He got the serial number from me, ordered the part, showed up a few hours later and got it done in under an hour for a lot less than I expected, He is great, will use him for all our appliance repair needs.

Steve contacted me the very next day. He called with the anticipated cost. When the parts arrived, he showed up and repaired the dryer; explaining to me what was done and the reason. Price was reasonable and a bit less than quoted. I trusted him and that is so important. Should I need an appliance repaired in the future, I will be calling Steve.

Extremely well. We learned the bearing was shot and the repair would be expensive and given the age of the machine there was a high likelihood the repair might not last and that other systems might start to fail. He recommended a new machine (which we are extremely pleased with) and didnot try to up-sell us on repair or grab the money a repair would have cost.
